The Gods Are Angry

Click Cartoon for Larger Size
Much has changed since the old days when virgins were thrown into volcanoes. For one thing, it's much harder to find a virgin...for which the mainstream media is significantly to blame.

But to make up for it, news outlets like NPR and CNN are suggesting that the Gods can now be appeased by sacrificing taxpayers and businesses.

On NPR, host Diane Rehm speculated about the "human involvement in all of these eruptions, earthquakes, and storms," and her guest from CNN followed up by speculating "How much climate change is contributing to earthquakes and volcanic ash."

This stunning lack of basic scientific knowledge, or even the ability to tell the difference between "cause and effect," would be amusing if it weren't for the fact that the media is using these arguments to support "cap and trade" tax legislation that will put a crushing financial burden on every individual, family, and business that uses energy.

Of course, these "cap and trade" taxes won't prevent volcanoes, earthquakes, or hurricanes. But, as the NY Times points out, they will "generate mammoth amounts of money for governments."

Which just goes to show that someone has to go into the flames when the Gods are angry. Or greedy.

Its amazing the pride and ego of these people that think humans are so powerful that their actions control...or even significantly affect...natural causes.

I think God would have quite a bit to say about it...

Must be all the crushing weight of atmospheric CO2 that is causing the tectonic plates to shift ...

Or maybe it's the Libs themselves. Here's a map of displacement after the Chilean earthquake:

Proves that all this socialist Left-Leaning is tearing apart the planet.

Suzy- an Iranian Muslim cleric recently said that earthquakes are caused by women who dress provocatively.

It's easy for us to laugh at such a thought...but is it really more ridiculous than the notion that Iceland is having a volcano because Americans haven't finished switching their incandescent lightbulbs to fluorescent ones?

It is, indeed, a very perverse sort of hubris that allows humans to look at a volcano or hurricane and think "I did that."

The reason the Earth tremors is not from women dressing provocatively, it's because it has a case of the "heebie jeebies" knowing that there are shiite-heads in the world that believe it!

Today's Wallstreet Journal editorial agrees with all of you. "...mother nature can neither be appeased nor truly conquered, and ... it behooves us to approach her with imagination--and humility." It's not nice to fool mother nature!

You're right, Stilt. I couldn't agree with you more.

Laugh all you like, my friends, but savvy, modern Westerners have their own version of this superstition.

One World Order by vitue of creating a society so dependent on the governmemt they know no other means of life.
