Heard Mentality
Harry Reid, the most vile little raisin of a man alive, has found a way to lower the bar on his already reprehensible behavior. Specifically, he's telling news organizations and the Senate that Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years, and that's why he's refusing to show more of his tax returns.
And how does Harry know this? In his own words: "Do I know that's true? Well, I'm not certain." Oh - so it may be an out and out lie supported by no evidence whatsoever. But that won't keep Harry from making cheap partisan accusations!
Whatever Mitt Romney has paid in taxes, the IRS clearly didn't have any problem with it when they reviewed his returns. So just maybe, Harry, it's not true that Romney paid no taxes for 10 years.
But one thing we do know is true: Senate majority "leader" Harry Reid hasn't submitted a budget in over 3 years. That's not a rumor. It's a disgrace.
Drip Drip Drip
Gosh darn it to blankety heck! Some evildoer is still leaking top secret stories from the Whitehouse to make Barack Obama look like he's not a wimp, even though the president and Eric Holder claimed that they'd launched an investigation to stop such mischief.
And by "mischief," we mean stories which are intended to make Obama look good while putting the lives of Americans and our allies at risk, and undercutting the work of our military and intelligence communities.
So far, Eric Holder has been too busy galloping around the country stirring up pre-election race hatred to really crack down on the criminal leaking of information from the Whitehouse, but he will find out who is responsible and tell the president.
After all, that's the only way Obama will know who to protect with Executive Privilege.
Hope and Chains
In this election cycle, Barack Obama's support is even falling amongst black voters. Part of it is because they're much worse off than when he was elected, and he clearly hasn't given a damn about African-Americans since the day he was elected.
Moreover, it's become clear to those voters that Barry, as described by a former girlfriend, has "hardly a black bone in his body."
Which is why the Left and others "down with the struggle" were overjoyed to discover that Barack Hussein Obama is actually a descendent of John Punch, America's very first slave (who may well have been purchased by a great-great-grandparent of Joe Biden's who found the slave to be "articulate and clean and bright and a nice-looking guy.")
But before Barry breaks into a chorus of "Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen," it's rather important to point out that he has less "slave blood" than his white mother...from whom he inherited it.
And - oh yeah! - the genealogist who produced the research can't actually prove that Obama's familial connection to slavery is even true.
We suspect it was just a rumor he heard from Harry Reid.

Wednesday Double Feature
Pampered President
Readers - just a couple of quick takes today. The cartoon above was inspired by the ridiculous cover on Newsweek magazine which shows Mitt Romney next to a headline which screams "The WIMP Factor: Is He Just Too Insecure To Be President?"
But let's be honest here: when you hear the word "wimp" associated with this presidential race, don't you immediately think of the simpering, petulant little whiner in the Whitehouse?
As Kurt Vonnegut once said, "I could carve a better man out of a banana."
By the way, Obama's sole claim to masculinity appears to be the execution of Osama bin Laden, which he personally watched on television. But even that claim came under renewed fire this week thanks to a book which reaffirms that Obama actually cancelled the raid on the compound three times over a period of months, because Valerie Jarrett thought it would be politically risky. And Barry tried to cancel the final successful mission too...but, uh, somehow it got initiated anyway while he was on the golf course. Being manly.
Newsweek's preposterous story is yet another reason why the magazine's circulation is nearly nonexistent - and why they just announced that they're making (no doubt desperate) plans to give up printing and "go digital" with their make-believe leftist crap.
A Fool and his Money
Also in the news, Barack Obama finally donated $5000 to his own reelection campaign. Considering that alleged comedian Bill Maher donated 200 times that amount, Obama must know something that Maher doesn't. Not that Maher sets the bar very high.
In yet another fundraising letter to his supporters, the soon-to-be ex-president explained that his fiscal act of self-gratification was really symbolic, saying: "We have always believed that there's nothing we can't do when we all pitch in. That includes me."
But seriously, Barry, how much are you actually "pitching in" when you take money out of your left pocket and put it in your right pocket?
But we'll forgive his confusion on this matter. After all, as far as we can tell it's the first time he's taken money from his own pockets.

You Said a Mouthful
Here at Hope n' Change, we strongly support Chickenboy's right to express his support of mixed species marriages, even though we don't agree with his position. Especially because most of those mixed species positions would be either uncomfortable or dangerous to attempt.
But he does raise a vitally important point: that expression of our First Amendment rights is also becoming increasingly uncomfortable and dangerous.
Does the strongly religious CEO of Chick-fil-a have the right to say he supports traditional marriage? Of course - as long as his opinions aren't translated into illegally discriminatory actions of any kind. And conversely, gay marriage advocates have every right to express their opinions as long as those expressions stay within the confines of the law.
For the record, Hope n' Change is supportive of gay marriage and Chick-fil-a sandwiches, and can respectfully acknowledge that others have differing opinions for a host of reasons. But we don't hate those people whom we disagree with, and it's the growing rhetoric of hate and suppression of free speech that worries us most.
For instance, is it "hate" to simply say: "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I do not support gay marriage?"
Because that's exactly what Barack Obama said in 2008. And since that time, he hasn't really "evolved" a bit - because even now he says that the issue should be a matter for the states to decide individually, meaning he doesn't believe there's any constitutional right to gay marriage. Although he tapdances around that opinion when soliciting campaign donations from gay supporters.
Of course, any controversy over something as fatuous as chicken sandwiches is sure to generate a strong reaction from the Hollywood lefties, perhaps best exemplified by Rosanne Barr's statement that "anyone who eats S--t Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ".
Apparently Ms. Barr not only missed her charm school classes, but also missed her president's plea to use "words that heal rather than wound." Or maybe she simply gave up on civility a short time after the speech...just like he did.
But that lack of civility may come with a very high cost: Chick-fil-a's Vice President of Public Relations, Donald Perry, has been in the middle of the high-stress flood of venom directed against his company. Or at least he was until last Friday, when he died suddenly of a heart attack. Not exactly the way Ms. Barr wished him to perish, but with the same effect.
Or, possibly, cause and effect.
Hope n' Change concedes that gay marriage is a significant issue...but it's not even remotely near the top of the list of things Americans need to be most worried about right now. And arguing about the relationship between gay marriage and chicken sandwiches is simply stupid.
But what's not stupid, and is instead chilling, is the pronouncement by the Democrat mayors of Boston and Chicago that they want Chick-fil-a out of their cities because the company holds different political (and religiously-based) opinions than those mayors do.
And this, finally, returns us to where we began. However you feel about them, the opinions and actions of Chick-fil-a are all legally protected by the Constitution. The actions of the Democrat mayors are expressly forbidden by the Constitution.
Now that's a fight we can sink our teeth into. With a side order of waffle fries.
