We Have Ways Of Making You Not Talk
obama, obama cartoon, humor, political, funny, stilton jarlsberg, hope n' change, hope and change, obamacare, sebelius

Speaking in Orlando, Florida (home of all things Mickey Mouse and Goofy) on Monday, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius declared "there is absolutely no evidence - and every economist will tell you this - that there is any job loss related to the Affordable Care Act."

Unless, of course, you're one of the economists working in the Congressional Budget Office who recently said they expect Obamacare to kill around two and a half million jobs.

Of course, this isn't the first time that Sebelius has demonstrated that she's non compos mentis.  When she was initially quizzed about the flood of Obamacare waivers being issued to political cronies of this administration, she claimed not to have ever heard of them. And her disastrous stewardship of the Obamacare website is now the stuff of legend; at least the captain of the Titanic had the good grace to go down with his ship instead of insisting that no one was drowning.

Proving once again that he's not afraid to take on the tough questions from hard-hitting journalists, Barack Obama sat down for an interview with, uh, former basketball player Charles Barkley.

During the alleged interview, the president declared that signing up for Obamacare is now "just part of growing up" for young Americans, which will surely come as a horrible shock to Pajama Boy - the program's effete jammy wearing, cocoa sipping, parental basement dwelling mascot.

Oddly, this is the first time that Hope n' Change can recall the president ever encouraging anyone to "grow up" instead of latching on to the government teat like a ravenous lamprey affixing itself to a manatee.

But then again, Obama is really just telling the kids to give him their freaking money so they don't get hurt. Which isn't so much "growing up" as getting bullied.

Kathleen Sebelius is either the finest example of Cognitive Dissonance that has ever opened their mouth and let words spew forth or she is the epitome of every saying such as 'not the sharpest knife in the drawer', 'not the brightest light in the chandelier', her elevator doesn't go all the way to the top', and all the rest. Of course there's always the possibility that she is 'only following orders'. But then, could it be that all of the above are true?

TrickyRicky said...

@Fred Ciampi- There seems to be a lot of "only following orders" going on. I'm afraid we all know where that can lead.

As Governor of Kansas, Sebelius showed her true colors by accepting bribes from pro-choice activists, blocking transparency when it came to the operation of Planned Parenthood, overseeing the shredding of documents that would have provided evidence of felony late-term abortions, and even holding parties for abortion doctors in her Governor's mansion on the taxpayer's dime. All in all, perfect credentials to become a member of Øbama's cabinet. Realizing that her maiden name is "Gilligan", one may begin to understand her being put in charge of the shipwreck of a website that is healthcare dot gov.

There certainly was a lot of "I was only following orders" at the Nuremberg trials too. Its now only a matter of time.

"Boss! What will I do?! The CBO is saying ACA will kill millions of jobs."

"Don't worry about it, Kathleen. The idiots who put me in power don't even know what the CBO is. Just make up some BS story; they'll buy it."

Sad, but true. Too many people in this country will not take time away from playing video games or taking selfies to verify ANYTHING. You know, if NBC, CBS, ABC, The AP, NYT, WaPo, or (insert famous person's name here) said it, it MUST be true, right?

I have a rhetorical question. What exactly IS a soul worth when you sell it? Anonymous is likely right, someday all will come to light; only a matter of time. I hope Sebelius, Holder, Rice and the rest have enjoyed their fameand power; it came at a great price. What is worth more; great fame, or a good name?

Though the pure libertarian, "self worshiping" slant of the book is a bit unpalatable to most, the performance of the government in the story is scarily similar to all that we see around us. Atlas Shrugged is, in fact, a cautionary tale...

Irene Peduto said...

SJ, Colby, Emmentaler, Tricky Ricky - it's GREAT to be back & "see" all of you again!
Ayn Rand did caution a much younger America some 50+ years ago. The book, Atlas Shrugged, is like a mirror image of America today.
Sebelius is, as eloquently stated above by Fred & Geoff, either unqualified or intentionally lying to The People. There is no other option.
Re: the President's "interview" with Charles Barkley, former basketball player & supporter of our Highness, the deck was set. He used that forum to further advocate for his takeover of the healthcare for all Americans - a sort of fixed program suiting all as in cut outs.
Thanks for continuing to spread the good word, SJ. You are an admirable man. Buy have you been audited yet? I expect to be this upcoming year. What has happened to America?

@TrickyRicky and @Fred Ciampi and everyone else for that matter. Did you see the piece by the genius, Thomas Sowell? http://spectator.org/articles/57851/cruz-control

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Fred Ciampi- I think Sebelius is a true believer who personally suppress anything like logic in order to make sure her ideology isn't threatened by facts. Or reality in general. I also think this makes her very willing and able to "just follow orders," which is what makes her truly dangerous.

@TrickyRicky- Exactly.

@Geoff King- In fairness to Sebelius, being complicit in ending so many lives made her a perfect candidate to run HHS and Obamacare.

And I hadn't known her maiden name was Gilligan. I can easily envision Obama having the nickname "Skipper," although it would have nothing to do with boats.

@Anonymous- I wish I believed that someday this crew really would go to trial for their misdeeds.

@Colby- If the Left wants to parse words (and boy, do they) it could be argued that the CBO report didn't say Obamacare was going to kill 2.5 million jobs, but rather it was going to "de-incentivize" many more people than that from working enough hours to threaten their subsidies - the result being a reduction in the workforce equal to 90 million man hours every week.

The Democratic party line has become "work is bad, unemployment is freedom." Good luck keeping a society functional when that become ingrained.

But back to your points, too many (most?) people will believe any Big Lie if it's delivered with a straight face and reported on a (ahem) "legitimate" news source.

And sadly, I think the rogue's gallery of Lefties you mention think they have great fame AND a good name.

@Emmentaler- I think Atlas Shrugged has already been moved from fiction to non-fiction on most library shelves.

@Irene Peduto- Welcome back to the mosh pit!

No, I haven't been audited yet but if the IRS ever comes knocking I've got a great self-defense strategy: I have the world's most boring finances and, since Barry took office, not much in the way of income for them to put under the microscope.

Plus, I use TurboTax - so if there are any wild errors in my old returns, I'm sure I'll be let off with no penalties or charges - just like Tim Geithner.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Chuck Ef- Wow, that's a strong piece (in which Sowell warns that Ted Cruz is potentially dangerous). I like Cruz, but I have huge respect for Sowell - so he's definitely given me a lot to think about.

There are still a few who remember where "only following orders" leads. However that dark period of history began to unfold nearly 100 years ago. There are not many alive now who were then, or who were alive over the following decades as "only following orders" resulted in the willful murder of many of that country's citizens, coupled with the deaths of 50-70 million due to the world war that resulted. We may remember the quote, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." However, IMHO the ones in power now are not forgetful. They are intentionally repeating the past. And the attitude of, "At this point in time, WHAT DOES IT MATTER?", is their rallying cry.
And sadly the majority of the populace doesn't give a rat's posterior, as long as they can comfortably keep up with the latest antics of the Kartrashians or Miley Virus, or have enough "mo' free gubmint stuffs."

Kathleen Sebelius... didn't she play the part of Nurse Cratchet in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, then continued to live the part while pushing a Walmart cart on the streets of San Francisco, for years and years? Then, didn't the Obamohammad mafia (with apologies to the Mafia) pick her to be whatever-the-hell she's supposed to be, because she fit right in with the rest of 'em? I'm thinking that I'm pretty sure that I'm right about all this.

I just read the Sowell article. And I also have a great deal of respect for both Sowell and Cruz. I can't agree completely with Sowell on this one. While it's true king hussein was lying then and is lying now and has always lied and always will lie, I believe Cruz is a man with true charactor and principles. The "democrat" party was taken over by radical marxists in the 60's and 70's. And, evidently, the repubs are the new democrat party in my opinion. They cave in a heart beat because they're afraid of the media labelng them as racist. In interviews I have noticed Sen. Cruz doesn't even react or answer to those ridiculous charges. He just keeps on point about whatever the topic is supposed to be.
king hussein is the proverbial sheep in wolves clothing. Cruz is the real deal. At least I'm praying he is. How many people do you know that memorized the Constitution in high school?
As far as Sowells tipping point, I believe we are looking at that in the rear-view mirror. It has come and gone.
Clearly through election fraud king hussein has breezed into a second term and has started to rule by decree. By-passing Congress completely and wiping his royal ass with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Cruz is making waves and ruffling feathers, GOOD! Am I the only one that can plainly see that reid and pelosi are COMPLETLY insane!! And I mean that literally. They are out of their respctive f*cking minds.

Sorry for the long winded rant, but all this crap is manufactured crisis. The neo-communists creating problems so they can swoop in and SAVE THE DAY!!!
Sorry, not buying it.

If you look up the definition of "Useful Idiot" in the V. Lenin dictionary, you will find a photo of Kathleen Sebelius (really!!!). How she ever got herself elected to any Kansas state position (especially governor), is beyond sane comprehension.

A lot of Ms. Rand's "cautions" have come true in the 57 years since she wrote it. In my opinion "Atlas Shrugged" should be required reading in every high school history class in America.

Sowell's article sounded a lot like I did during the run-up to the 2012 elections (I apologize). Unfortunately, the performance of the McConnell and Boehner tag team in "thwarting" the liberal progressives has convinced me that I was wrong. The GOP is out to protect the GOP, and believes that conservative principles are detrimental to their chances in the election. Screw the oaths they took to support and defend the constitution! Their election chances are threatened by such things!

I could also swear I heard the sound of Karl Rove's pen scratching away behind Sowell's article as I read it, and I have less than zero respect for Karl Rove...

Yesterday, the CBO reported that raising the Minimum Wage was going to kill a half-million to over a million more jobs. In a nutshell, half of those who now work for minimum wage will be getting a raise. The other half will be getting to spend more time with their families. And those who did get a raise really won't be because the more they make, the more it zaps their ObamaCare subsidies, so it's a wash. Technically, the only one really getting a raise is the Federal government.

Actually heard some administration hack this morning say that the OMB has little experience in the real world, so they don't really know what they're talking about when it comes to the Minimum Wage. Wow. Biting commentary from someone in an administration where around 95% of them have never held a real job outside of academia or government.

@Emmentaler, sometimes I can't tell if they reject Atlas Shrugged as a cautionary tale, or are only embracing it as a script.

And yes, @Judi King; Atlas Shrugged should be required reading. Alas, that's too much to expect in today's world of watered-down everyone-passes academia.

It is evident that BO is relying on the fact that if you tell a lie often and earnestly enough, of course the choir will believe, but he will even win many others who just don't know what to believe anymore.

Looking at the numbers of people who took the time to go vote in 2012, too many Christian folks, and otherwise non-Obama voters just stayed home apparently. I don't see that changing really.

By the way, folks...I've found it is easier and quicker proving you're not a robot to just use the 'audio' text down there instea of those foggy words!

Emmentaler Limburger said...

@John: Agreed on Atlas Shrugged as a playbook rather than a cautionary!

In terms of the cost of minimum wage, these mindless drones don't realize how far that raise will actually get them. Not one of them will equate the resultant elevation of prices in general their elevated wages - they get a little more paycheck which is more than sucked up by increased prices on items not even remotely related to their employment.

I guess they'll just petition president and congressman Santa Claus for yet another bump in the minimum... (And the cycle repeats.)

By the way: my Captcha is, remarkably, magnanimity. On that note, @Pry, if you click the "recycle" button for the captcha, you usually get a fairly easily read picture of some numbers with some jumbled numbers. Much easier to make out than 99.999% of the crap the alphabet captcha coughs up...

Interesting article (Cruz Control) linked above, but I think the author is overlooking a couple of things.

First, he seems not to understand that the primary faction of the GOP establishment is marching toward the same goal as the Democrats party. The only difference is in who holds the reins of power, and how fast we reach the endgame.

We have bit of a wingnut named Larry Secede Kilgore (yes, he legally changed his middle name) running for Texas governor who posted a cartoon on his Facebook page recently. It is a picture from a recent event with Øbama, GWB and WJC all standing on the stage together. The caption reads "If you think everything will be OK once Øbama is out of office... You don't understand the problem."

Second issue with the article on American Spectator: Look at the fathers. Read Øbama's book and/or watch the movie 2016. Then find a video of Rafael Cruz speaking. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Cruz ever wavers or veers off the trail on trying to save America, he'll find a father-sized boot up his backside. He is a politician, so I don't expect perfection. But I don't expect fundamental lies along the lines of those we got from "the one."

Finally - returning somewhat to my first point - I disagree with him that just "electing more Republicans" is a viable strategy. I have voted for the "lesser evil" for much of my adult life while operating under the same illusion that Sowell seems to hold. I'm not going to do that any more (much to the chagrin of my mom).

If my only choices for President are another Øbama or another McCain for instance, then I will vote everywhere else on the ticket that I can for those who appear to be actual constitutional conservatives. I will not vote for the communist, but I will also no longer vote for the communist-lite. I won't vote for the worst, but I also think the GOP deserves to lose numbers until they quit trying to be "less worst."

As long as We the People keep accepting deficient candidates, we have no hope for things to change.

(end ramble)

@Stilt - I couldn't agree with you more. I really like Cruz - someone with backbone. I think the point Sowell was making (as I am sure you understood) was the potential for a Cruz to divide the opposition, such as it is, to the point that the traitorous progs take over ala you-know-who. I have never considered that as the possible route but have been very concerned about this possibility otherwise. I too hold Sowell in very high regard.

Thanks for your reply.

The theory of " Atlas Shrugged" as a playbook is interesting but the end result can't be forgotten. The end result was the theme of the whole book and can't be disregarded. Those who have are destroying this country to satisfy their own agendas and we need to be cautioned.

Colby said...

Atlas Shrugged was a great book as far as message, but horrible as far as length. Ayn Rand beat the subject to death, resurrected it, then beat it to death again... about 7-8 times I think. When I read it, I will admit to skipping about 50 pages of John Galt's speech at the end.

So, as far as having it be required reading? Yes, yes, yes.... but it will never happen. It slightly exceeds the 256 character limit that today's youth are accustomed to. You hand them something with 2,000+ pages of fine print and watch their eyes glaze over. Hell, my eyes glazed over and I WANTED to read it. But there is little doubt we are seeing this happen here in the US. Only our producers are not hiding out in a magic valley in Colorado; they're moving ops to China and India.

JustaJeepGuy said...

@Colby,

The first time I read "Atlas", in the summer of '76, I skipped at least 50 pages of Galt's speech too. When I read it last year, I read the whole thing. I'm not sure the whole speech added anything, but I read it. I think it turns out that it was necessary for Ms. Rand to re-tell the story several times, because as we can see, BIG BROTHER NEVER QUITS!!!! Yes, you and I and the rest of Stilton's readers can see the point, but anyone who doesn't read Stilton and isn't an Obama suck-up apparently can't see how bad it would be to let Big Brother become their mommy and daddy.

As to txGreg's point, the only thing I can say is, no Republican has told me he wants to take my guns---yet...
