Statue of Limitations

Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day. And what better way to celebrate the progress of Dr. King's magnificent vision than to take note of the fact that in today's America, "racism" is defined as failing to give enough statuettes to black millionaires in Hollywood.

At least, that's the opinion of Reverend Al "Taxes Is For White Folks" Sharpton, who has somehow become the ludicrous heir apparent to Dr. King's legacy. Following the announcement of this year's Oscar nominations, Reverend Al called an emergency meeting of his Diversity Task Force to address the fact that there were no black actors or directors nominated for top awards.

"In the time of Ferguson," Sharpton said while squinting into his word-a-day dictionary, "that is incongruous!"

Fortunately, the Diversity Task Force came up with a brilliant idea and announced that the always-diverse Black Entertainment Television network will now host the all-black Hollywood "Sharpie Awards."

There will be awards for "Best Blacktor" and "Best Blacktress," as well as awards for "Best Denzel Washington Movie," "Best Movie With Tyler Perry In A Housedress," "Best Movie That Oprah Had Any Damn Thing To Do With," and the "Samuel Fucking Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award" which, it is rumored, will be posthumously awarded to Ferguson's own Michael Brown for his non-moving performance in "Hands Up, Don't Shoot."

Currently, neither the Reverend Sharpton nor his Diversity Task Force has announced plans for a Martin Luther King "Content Of Character" award.

I remember when all movies were both black and white, now they are all colored. If that isn't reverse discrimination, I don't know what is.
Seriously, someone should tell Al "I'll call you racist until you give me money" Sharpton that Oscar nominations come from fellow actors, actresses, and directors. If there are no nominations for a black best actor, that is because all of the other actors-regardless of their race-did not think anyone was deserving.

It's a toss-up as to whether Sharpton or Soros is the most evil. I guess in a "free" society people like this are allowed to function. but why anyone gives them any credence is beyond me.

It's pop quiz time, boys and girls. Who has done the most to widen racial divide In this country, The KKK, the Nazis, or Al Sharpton?

He may be a dumbass, but a more disturbing fact is, he is a dumbass with a huge following.

My plea to my black brothers and sisters everywhere: Open your freaking eyes, and think for yourself! Do no let this evil SOB do your thinking for you. He is only interested in elevating himself and taking our money.

I guess that means when they get to the "Best Score" category, it will involve some illicit pharmaceuticals!
Stilton, EXCELLENT call on using "chiseler[sic]-tip" markers for the statuettes! You're doing the felonious maggots PROUD!

Oh, and Judi King... the reason anyone gives them Credence is because they don't know (well, allusions to "Shinola" here may be vulgar and crass, so I'll say...) Country Rock from Hip-Hop.

That's because it's not about character - it's all about color. What a sad commentary on Dr. King's legacy.

Oh, and BTW, don’t forget about last year when 12 Years A Slave became the first film directed and produced by a black filmmaker (Steve McQueen) and written by a black author (John Ridley) to win the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture of the Year.

Amazing how racist the Oscars have gotten in 12 months…

Only a complete imbicile or a corrupt politician would allow Sharpton to be considered a "Leader/Spokesman" on their behalf. That explains why the rev. is a hero of the Democrat Party.

@Geoff King- Not that it will shut Al up, but the head of the Motion Picture Academy is a black woman. Al seems to be arguing for a racial quota system based solely on skin color. And that's why I'm so pissed off on MLK Day.

@Judi King- I'll posit that Soros is slightly more evil because he actually wants to destroy things, while Sharpton simply gets things destroyed in the process of trying to line his own pockets. It's like comparing a murderer to a pimp.

@Colby Muenster- Sharpton's popularity is an utter mystery to me. More so, even, than Obama's. At least Barry can talk a good game, but Sharpton is demonstrably a moron. Still, with enough sing-songy rhymes and alliterations, I guess he can still impress the hard of thinking.

@Bruce Bleu- Shinola Sharpton may be my favorite phrase of the day.

@CenTexTim- I like Colonel Allen West's observation about this - if Sharpton says the Oscars are too white, West says the NBA is too black.

If basketball is considered to be a colorblind meritocracy, why not Hollywood?

Don't worry. We only have another generation or so to put up with this kind of nonsense.

Why? Because in the previous decade, Hispanics became the new #1 racial minority group in America. By the middle of this century, the number of "black" Americans (currently around 14% and dropping) is going to dwindle to insignificance along with the number of "guilt-ridden white liberals" that sustain the "black victimization agenda" as both populations are supplanted by the far greater domestic Hispanic birth rate, and the unabated northern migration of more Hispanics from the south. (Currently around 17%, and growing exponentially)

(Ironically, the fact that as groups, blacks and white liberals make the greatest use of abortion-as-birth-control has only accelerated this trend)

Do you think the new Hispanic majority will care at all about Al Sharpton and his ilk or how few blacks win Oscars? Do you think that "Selma" will resonate with them? I seriously doubt it.

Every time Sharpton opens his mouth, it just reinforces Darwin's Theory...and I'll leave it to conjecture what part to the theory...

'Ol Al is opening his mouth because the Paris shootings have eclipsed his mantra on hateful white cops, therefore he must be outrageous to reclaim his audience.

Other observation: Notice how all these "Black Lives Matter", etc. are comprised of a lot of white kids (Oakland = Berkley, Boston = Harvard, NY = Columbia, CCNY)? I bet their parents are enjoying seeing their tuition money squandered on a worthless liberal arts degree. I hate to tell them how many of my 71 clerical were blessed with anywhere from a BA to a Masters in Liberal Arts, and ya know, they could order material just as well as my clerk from the 3rd Ward (Sheila Jackson Lee's stomping ground).

Sorry, I'm still in a foul mood after the NFL is fixing the playoffs.

Stilton,

"Hard of thinking" is so dated. Now it's "thinking impaired." ...and Al is the poster child.

@John the Econ,
Pretty darn interesting statistics you just posted. Could it be that even Sharpton's tiny little pea brain can see his cash cow slowly strolling into the sunset? He has to exponentially inflate every tiny issue he can lay his hands on because the big issues just don't exist anymore.

And what the heck has happened to Rev-rund Ja-hack-son? Seems like Al is sucking up all the Lo-Fo limelight lately. Did Jesse come to his senses? Can it be that even JJ has a limit to how low he can stoop? Nah... prolly not....

An interesting point of view:
http://www.much-about.info/page8/
If Blacks comprise only around 13% of the U.S. population, why are they featured in around 60% of the commercials on TV, while Hispanics are practically ignored although they comprise around 17% of the population?

Geoff King said...

K. Here is my totally racist (and proud of it) point of view: if blacks feel oppressed because a few whites enslaved their African ancestors many generations ago-thanks to mainly Arab and African slave traders-what the hell is keeping them from moving back to Africa now that they are a "free" race and capable of travelling wherever they choose?

Geoff King said...

Addendum: could it possibly be that "African Americans" prefer America to Africa? If so, that would explain why they do not move back to their native lands in droves. Also, if so, I believe it is way past the time that they should STFU!

Joseph ET said...

@ Geoff King The reason that we see few Hispanics in commercials on TV, is because advertisers know that Hispanics have their own Spanish language newspapers, magazines, radio, TV stations and networks which also cost a little less to advertise on. Check out Spanish-language television networks in the United States and Spanish-language radio stations and of course they also have their own “talk Radio”.

John the Econ said...

If you're in any major city now, especially in the southern end of the country like LA, Dallas, or Atlanta, all you need to do is scan both the AM & FM bands of any radio and you'll discover that about 1/3rd of the stations are now in Spanish. There's little need to pay top dollar for advertising on the English-speaking media when your core unassimilated audience is available for less elsewhere.

@Colby Muenster, I seriously doubt that Sharpton cares about anything other than himself. Either way, I'm sure that he's got more than enough $$$ squirreled away for his retirement years like Jackson, who seems more content to lay low these days.

@Geoff King, one of my more controversial arguments during my college years was that most "African Americans" today are far better off than they likely would be had their great-great-great-great grandparents not been enslaved and brought here. (Today, I'd certainly be kicked out of any university for suggesting such a fact for committing a "hate crime")

Missing in all of the debates as to just how unjust today's America is for everyone who isn't a white male, is the fact that one of our biggest problems are the hordes of people are willing to risk their lives just to be here. (I've long advocated a Federal program that would pay for 1-way tickets out of here for any citizen who thinks that America sucks and is willing to give up their citizenship)

Even Malcolm X, famous America-hater, changed his tune after doing a pilgrimage to Africa and discovering how the majority lives. The reality of the gap between the ugly reality and the Progressive image of happy, singing Marxists living the good, simple life really must have been a wake-up call.

In other news, related to last week's topic:

If our foreign policy is going to be reduced to serenading our supposed allies, perhaps we should be picking more relevant tunes. The brilliant Mark Steyn suggested a better song than James Taylor's "You've got a Friend"; Cole Porter's "Friendship", which includes the line:

If they ever put a bullet in your brain
I'll complain.

...and not much else.

And, it turns out that that photograph of world leaders leading a march was a fake. It was a staged photo on a cleared street. This makes Obama, Kerry and Holder look even more lame, since security wasn't even an issue.

So it really does come back down to "optics", the optics here being that they are making it crystal clear that it is the official policy of the United States Government not to show solidarity with our supposed allies or with the idea of defending free speech.

Keep this in mind as the Obama Administration now plans on hosting their cyber security initiative. Beneath all the talk about security, keep your eyes open as what this is will ultimately be about is controlling speech on the Internet, which is what the Progressives see as the real problem.

Sharpton IS a dumbass with a huge following of OTHER dumbasses, of which they are too many right now!

BTW, is anybody going to waste their time this evening watching the SOTU? We ALL could sit down right now and write a detailed outline of everything that he is going to pitch tonight!

PRY said...

I gotta throw in some more about Sharpton...that stupid squirt really gets my goat!

Al Sharpton never finished college. He has less education than a kindergarten teacher. He possesses a high school level knowledge of English. And his version of history speaks for itself. He famously quipped: "White folks was in caves while we was building empires.... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it."

What a legacy he has huh!

Colby Muenster said...

Watch the STOU? I'd rather light my crotch on fire and put it out with and ice pick. O'Liar's going to push the same old tried and failed economic horse crap that has, in essence, already ruined a once fine country. Tax rich white people, give the money to the poor (i.e. young people who refuse to work). Reward our enemies and punish our friends. Then blame the other side for his astronomical failures. Mrs. Colby and I will be watching re-runs of The Guiding Light, or some other show that has stronger links to reality than O'Liar's.

John the Econ said...

Oh, I'll probably watch, if only to make a drinking game out of it. In previous years, Mrs. Econ and I would take a hit every time we heard the words "Main Street", "Middle Class", or "Fair Share".

This time around, we'll be taking a drink every time we see another giveaway to a vital Democratic constituency. We already know about the "free college" and another income tax transfer from the 1%-ers to the "middle class". It will be fun to see what groups are left out. That will define who the Democrats consider "in" and who are officially "out".

John the Econ said...

Suffering a little bit of media intake this afternoon, and absorbing the dominant memes. One that sticks out is that the GOP Congress is going to automatically reject anything that Obama says tonight. "If Obama were to read the dictionary, the GOP would reject it" said one Democrat pundit.

Well, duh. And what short memory these people have! If I remember correctly, (and I do!) the Democrats marginalized the GOP between 2007 and 2009, and completely shut them out out between 2009 and 2011. In fact, the Democrats unilaterally passed one of the most unpopular pieces of legislation, (both then and now) ObamaCare without any GOP involvement whatsoever.

So now the GOP is supposed to play nice with an unpopular lame-duck President who's agenda was overwhelmingly rejected barely 2 months ago?

Seriously?

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@John the Econ- I watched some of it, which is more than I'd planned on watching.

Heard him push free community college, his magical "initiative" to cure effing cancer, tout the great military successes of Afghanistan, decry those who would speak against Islam, and declare climate change the biggest, most importantest, most scariest threat to humanity and any members of future generations who escape abortion.

In other words, I now have a pounding headache and storm-tossed waves of bile breaking over my uvula.
