Congressman John Lewis, among 40 or so other elected Democratic plantation owners, will be skipping the inauguration to protest John Podesta's inability to understand that "password" is not a secure password. Entertainers are running for cover rather than have their names (and careers, if any) forever associated with the Inaugural festivities. New York mayor Bill de Blasio will even spend Inauguration Day taking part in a protest staged at Trump's NY City International Hotel, linking arms with liberal chowderheads like Alec Baldwin and Michael "Are you going to finish that pie?" Moore.
And this is all before Trump's first day in office.
In the past, Inauguration Day was a celebration of the American Way as much as the simple transfer of power to a new President. A time for people of all political persuasions to come together, however briefly, to give the new guy a chance. A honeymoon period which the Right has always granted the Left, even when unqualified radical community organizers with vaguely terrorist-sounding names are sworn into office solely on the basis of being "clean" and having perfectly creased pants.
But not this time. It seems there are indelible battle lines drawn already and the zeitgeist is about to hit the fan with a loud and foul-smelling splat.
On Friday, Hope n' Change predicts we'll see the official kick-off of a four year (at least) culture war unlike anything which has come before. A clash not predicated on policies or even reality, but rather on ideology and blind emotion. The coasts versus flyover country, and the over-educated versus the overlooked. We would metaphorically suggest that it will be like previous manifestations of the Left on meth, only we're not at all sure that they weren't already on meth.
Editorially speaking, this would be the perfect spot for us to insert solemn words intended to heal our national rifts and call for unity, tolerance, and mutual understanding. But, and we can't emphasize this point strongly enough, screw that.
Whether they like it or not, it is these same strident Leftists who bear the responsibility for Donald Trump's election. For that reason alone, they should try to just shut the hell up for a little while and reflect on the fact that the "monster" to which they so stridently object is of their own creation.
AND ONE MORE THING...
Tweets we wish were real. |
We'll admit we're a little confused. Obama has recently been telling us that our entire system of democracy has been undermined by the theft of secrets which ended up on Wikileaks. Which is why it's so puzzling that Barry has just commuted the 35-year espionage sentence of Private Bradley Manning (now "Chelsea Manning" through the politically popular miracle of gender reassignment) for the theft of secrets which ended up on Wikileaks.
Rather than struggle to ascertain the president's baffling reasoning in making this anti-security decision, Hope n' Change is instead going with Occam's Razor: we think he did it because he's an asshole.
You SURE you wanna hang up your spurs just yet? Looks like we're in for a mess of fun. Or just a mess... ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs far as berrie and bradley are concerned I think there is a little tit for...tat (or some other sexual favors) involved.
ReplyDeleteNot at all a disconnect. Obama and the Left only cared about hacking when it affected THEM, outing them as the horrible and corrupt monsters they are.
ReplyDeleteHacking that affects National Security? The Left couldn't care less, and actually cheers that sort of thing on. Notice how the OPM (Office of Personnel Management) hacks were largely unreported, and didn't ruffle President Boyfriend one bit.
With the Left it is ALWAYS about power.
The leaks showing how corrupt the DNC are were wrong and had to be stopped, because they hurt the Haggard Queen and by extension the Left.
Manning and the OPM? The Left has always hated America, so anything that lessens it as a power is fine with that nest of monsters in human skin.
The more the Left throws tantrums, the more they can ensure four more years of Trump, or at the very least, four more years of diminished Leftist power and influence.
Nary an eyebrow was raised by the Left when "Someone" hacked DoD computers and stole information (including Social Security numbers) about X-million active-duty and retired military members but Chelsea/Payton* Manning? Yeah, they're heroes.
ReplyDelete*I know "Peyton" Manning isn't correct ... but it's funny!
All that plus releasing terrorists so that they may go back to killing members of our military.
ReplyDeleteMethinks that this Friday will be similar to the wrestling matches we used to watch every Saturday night fifty years ago times about a million. "In the blue dungarees ten million pissed off patriotic bikers". "In the pink tutus with ribbons in their hair, millions of rioters and sissies with not just a few Hollyweed types". Ding ding ding......
Now that Manning is being released, several questions arise:
ReplyDeleteWill Julian Assange agree to extradition as promised?
Will someone realize that Assange was only the messenger?
Will President Trump pardon Assange?
Will Bubba and the boys at Leavenworth stage a mass riot over losing their girlfriend Chelsea?
I agree with MMM, you should stick around for the next 4 years.... maybe just go once a week instead of 3?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, "lowest approval rating of any in-coming President..."????? Thosee polls were done by NBC/WaPo and CNN!!!! To use any "data" those asshats spew from their biased word-holes has to be some sort of sin....
Looking forward to watching Preezy Fourputt walk away on Friday..... it's gonna be a great day!!
The tweet is flawed - food is GREAT at Gitmo... used to be MREs, but the prisoners (before they put in the soccer field) were getting FAT, and it was determined that feeding POWs standard Milspec field rations was "Cruel and unusual" and they got a real chef, familiar w/ Halal menu requirements...
ReplyDeleteOr so I recall
I agree with MMM. You should hang in there, Stilt. Whatever happens, there will be plenty of grist for your mill. Barry is going to still be around, he is the gift that keeps on giving, and we all know he won't have the grace and good manners to keep his mouth shut. Also, the Dims anti-administration stance will be a heart target for free shots.
ReplyDeleteBarry's not the only target. This is environment is what the military guys call "target rich." I am sure you will have trenchant opinions and a hilarious way of presenting them about all the politicians Americans have managed to elect to office. Don't abandon us, Stilton, you're my guilty pleasure and I'd miss your work a lot.
ReplyDeleteI remember a bumper sticker, one of those long gone methods of communication now that twits tweet, that said, "Some people are alive simply because it's illegal to shoot them."
ReplyDeleteWhy does that come so quickly back to mind at this point in time?
Stilton, FTFY:
ReplyDelete"...Private Bradley Manning (now "Chelsea Manning" through the politically popular miracle of taxpayer-funded gender reassignment)"
If you're really set on this... I'm hoping Trump has a job for you, with THEIR gold-plated insurance plan as well. Press Secretary? Cartoon Czar?
ReplyDeleteIt's about 2 days... I need to go find the fireworks and clean the guns.
I'm eternally thankful to God the Idiot Parade of bend over stars, an illegitimate congressman from Boogerlanta and the other polluting factors of society STFAway from DC. There are just so many Port-A-Lets to handle the liberal/progressive/left wing stench. Staying away from the inauguration must be viewed as a public service!
ReplyDeleteJust some thoughts to be printed for the sane to read.
Second the comments of:
ReplyDelete(1) MMM - it's gonna be a target-rich environment. We'd love to see what you could do with so many sacred (and not so sacred) cows to skewer.
(2) txGreg - I still can't figure out how the Hell we got stuck with the bill for rearranging Bradley/Chelsea's plumbing.
It's interesting to note that whenever anyone talks about John Lewis, it's about his heroic acts during the civil rights movement of over 50 years ago. What they don't talk about is what he's achieved in the 40 years since, especially during his 30 years in Congress where he's been little more than a reliable vote for the Progressive left while accepting crumbs while his district decays.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile as @Stilton humorously points out, the usual suspects are putting on elevated levels silly acts of protest which are convincing nobody of anything other than how silly this all is. One of my favorite memes on this phenomenon is "If you don't like Trump, this is how you get more Trump". Watching vapid celebrities with their churlish and shallow virtue signally performance art only makes those who voted for Trump more confident in their choice, and those who didn't more optimistic. Trump is clearly pissing off all the right people, and that makes me feel good.
"In the past, Inauguration Day was a celebration of the American Way as much as the simple transfer of power to a new President."
One of the things that makes America not only unique but uncharacteristically stable (and therefore affluent as well) is that we are one of the few countries in the history of the world that changes its government peacefully and on a fixed schedule. We don't know who will be representing the government in 4, 8, or 52 years, but we know that it will change, and it should happen peacefully. At least we did until now.
I'm a bit more optimistic about the "clash" than @Stilton is, in that the real war taking place right now isn't just the left vs. right, but with the decades-old Progressive coalition of identity groups imploding. In fact, at Friday's protests you might actually see more Progressive hate directed at fellow Progressives than you'll see directed at Trump. When you're enemy is in the process of self-destruction, simply step out of the way and enjoy the show.
Leak Standing Up: Oh, I'm sure there will be more interesting commutations in the 48 hours he has left to do so, and we all may be leaking a bit when we see who.
His commutation of Manning is indeed a head-scratcher. People died because of what he leaked. I'm sure the people currently with trashed careers or serving time for comparatively minor breeches are scratching their heads today. I guess the lesson should be, if you're going to commit a security faux-pas, then make it a worthwhile massive one like Manning, or Clinton. Oh, and it doesn't hurt if you have a freak-show aspect to your personal narrative. Straight-white males don't stand a chance under this paradigm.
@M. Mitchell Marmel- The problem with the upcoming mess is that I sense I'm likely to be right in the middle of it (ideologically speaking). My opposition to Obama was always goal-oriented...an eventual return to sanity. Currently, I'm thinking that national sanity may have gone the way of the horse and carriage.
ReplyDelete@REM1875- I'll keep your suspicions on the down low. (And yes, that's an obscure Jeremiah Wright joke)
@Earl Allison- Good analysis. Barry is clearly not bothered by espionage in principle, only bothered when it's his ox that gets gored. Manning materially damaged national security...and for that, Barry thinks he should be rewarded.
@Bobo the Hobo- You're right that when the government computers are hacked (ie, poor security) their official reaction is usually just "oops" and "nothing to see here."
@Fred Ciampi- I like the picture you summon up, and hope those patriotic bikers will bring plenty of metal folding chairs to use as bludgeons.
@Geoff King- Another question: how long before "Chelsea" has her own reality show?
@You are a Thief- Currently, I'm not going to make any commitment about publishing on a regular basis. That being said, I'm not 100% sure there won't be some kind of future iteration of HnC. It's not a decision I can make while I'm still actively working on the blog. I need to see what life is like doing other things for awhile, after which I'll have a better perspective on what might or might not happen here.
And regarding Trump's reported low approval ratings, I agree that the poll numbers we're seeing are bogus (there's a shocker, huh?). But that being said, I think it's safe to say that Trump is facing opposition from a yuuuuge number of Americans as he enters office.
@Pete(Detroit)- You're right that the terrorists at Gitmo were gaining weight on the food. Probably too many candy sprinkles atop their frosted cupcakes. I just said "food very very bad" because it sounded so Trumpian.
@Graylady- There's no question that the Trump administration (and the Left's opposition to it) is going to provide a motherlode of comedic material. I just need to take some time to see if there are other things which I want to do before I lose the last of my marbles.
@American Cowboy- As a rule, I don't put bumper stickers on my car. But I might make an exception in this case.
@txGreg- I swear I was actually going to say "taxpayer-funded" but it put just a few too many syllables between the set-up and punchline of that sentence. Comedy is an arcane and unforgiving science.
@Rod- Hey, if the Trump administration wants to hire me to produce snark, I'm readily available. In fact, I want the official title of "White House Snarksman." And a podium with a mini-bar inside. Say, this could actually work... (grin)
Stilton Jarlsberg for Snark Czar! All in favor, indicate so by raising your cup of "coffee."
ReplyDeleteYes, boys and girls, the world has gone wonky. Part of me is so very disgusted with the moonbats, lefty liberals, and out of touch Hoolywad Prima Doña's who are now finding out just how we have felt the last 8 years (seems like 80). The other part of me is rather enjoying the show, knowing full well that our new President could give a rat's ass about the hollow threats from the left-tards.
Anybody care to speculate on the inevitable Shrillary pardon? Folks were talking that up a good bit a while back, but nary a peep lately. The old hag better hope O'Liar doesn't forget this while he busy letting felons and traitors free. If Bammy doesn't issue the blanket pardon by Friday around noon, it might be like holding a carrot in front of AG Sessions.
I was also wondering if an incoming President can cancel the previous Presidents pardons and commutations. Prolly not.... dammit!
I went to a Trump rally the day after he got the RNC nomination. There supposedly were protesters there outside, but I never saw them (we waited in line about 2 hours). later I learned that they were given a "protest area" that was far removed from the venue. And there were plenty of cops and Secret Service guys outside to make sure it stayed that way. I'm betting the inauguration will be set up the same way as much as possible. "Sure, dumbass, you can protest all you want... in Alexandria, VA!"
Reciprocity can be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteUnleash impoliteness and lawfare on their heinies.
Sue their pants off (disorder and lawfare the order of the day).
Counter all the silly/tacky comments in/by the press.
Ridicule, ridicule, ridicule.
Have some rich righty (or consortium) start/buy major outlets -- print, cable, broadcast, and close them or steer them to starboard (so they at least reach the center).
I don't think the Golden Rule was intended as a suicide method. Same as the Constitution was not written as a suicide pact.
Maybe a modified Golden Rule: Do unto others as they do unto you.
@CenTexTim -- we had to foot the bill for Bradley Manning's fantasies because Obama hates us. It was just one more middle finger to give to tradition and reality. Paraphrasing Sally Field, Obama hates us. He really hates us.
What is ironic is that it was the Democrats that beat up Lewis at the Pettus Bridge in March '65. George Wallace was Governor (63-67). As any liberal and they will swear it was Republicans but in the old Solid South, Republicans were rare and low profile. The KKK were Democrats yet ask any liberal and they were Republicans. Apparently accurate history is not taught in government schools.
ReplyDeleteOn the fake polls, I would expect no less. No way in heil they are accurate. PE Trump got 50% of the vote but +65% disapprove of him? Yea, that math works. Lastly, it is refreshing to see the nitwit democrats running for the tall grass as they eight year party is ending.
@Dan
ReplyDeletethe modified Golden Rule is already written: Do unto others as they would do unto you, but do it first.
Regarding Assange, I'm fine with having the US prosecute him, just as long as the same standard is applied to The New York Times.
ReplyDeleteLet's get a "Barack Who?" meme to go viral. That will twist his shorts more than anything.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Stilt: 100% Asshole. But this is a strong nation and we will shake him off quickly.
Obama commuted the sentence of Manning because Manning is the bait for the bigger fish, Julian Assange. Because Assange said that if Manning was pardoned, he would willingly submit himself to extradition to the US. The Left has been salivating over getting Assange for a long time. Even more so now that their billion dollar candidate lost the election, due in part, to having her corruption exposed by WikiLeaks. Don't think for one minute Obama gave Manning a pardon out of compassion or out of an 11th hour desire to stick it to the Right. He did it out of a Machiavellian driven hate and desire for revenge.
ReplyDelete@Stilton: I'm minded of Frank Zappa's quote from the Fillmore East in '71:
ReplyDelete"I know that ah...uh-hum...in a way it's sad that Bill Graham is closin' down the Fillmore, but ah...I'm sure he'll get into somethin' better..."
Just so. :D
-MMM-
Whatever the new incarnation of Hope N Change turns out to be, one element of today's post should become a staple: "Tweets we wish were true". Like a Mastercard commercials, today's was "Priceless!"
ReplyDelete"President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he commuted Chelsea Manning's sentence because the punishment did not fit the crime. Manning ... was sent prison for 35 years. Obama said that was too long, compared to other leakers.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Hillary served 0 years; however, she hasn't been tried yet.
Yessss!! Less than 24 hours of Øshama left.

Yes folks, it's going to be an interesting ride. Now the libtards head's are exploding because the Trump family is (gasp!) staying in their own hotel in DC! How DARE they?!
ReplyDeleteI figure the Trump family probably tried to get the Harry Reid Suite at the DC Ritz Carlton, but Billary already had it booked.
@Anonymous,
Now wouldn't it be funny if AG Sessions extradited Assange, the dropped all charges? Then Prez Donald could give him a Medal of Freedom for saving the country from certain destruction.
@PGM1972,
Nice idea! Are you listening, Stilton?
@Geoff King,
Such a short post, but it says it all and has such a wonderful ring to it!
Two last things for today:
ReplyDelete1. Many have said "don't let..." I'd actually prefer that the door hit Obama in the posterior on the way out.
2. Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton will never be president.
I can't WAIT for Obastard to be gone.
ReplyDelete@Colby Muenster- I'm definitely enjoying seeing all of the freaking out amongst the Lefties. I'm glad Trump is (theoretically) giving a "unity" speech following his inauguration, but I doubt it will stick. And frankly, I'm so disgusted with the Left that I don't even desire unity at the moment. Let them suffer.
ReplyDelete@Dan- Payback can be a bitch, and I wouldn't mind the Left learning that the hard way (at least for awhile).
@James Daily- It is one of the great mysteries in life that Democrats have been able to rewrite history to the extent that they are now considered champions of civil rights, rather than being the worst of the obstructionists - back in the 60's and ever since.
@jlw- I'm not sure that's an improvement on the Golden Rule, but it's certainly pragmatic.
@B Martin- Sounds fair to me!
@Rod- I love the idea of a "Barack Who?" meme/campaign. I'll give it some thought.
@Anonymous- Excellent analysis!
@M. Mitchell Marmel- I'm going to do my best to find "somethin' better" (or at least different) for my next adventure. I'm definitely not hanging up my spurs; just looking for a fresh horse.
@pgm1972- Glad you liked the fake tweet. I've got to admit that it was easy and fun to make. I may well give in to the temptation to do more of those.
@Emmentaler Limburger- I actually wondered if part of Barry's reasoning behind the Manning commutation was to make Hillary's misdeeds look trivial in comparison. But the idea that "the punishment did not fit the crime" is ridiculous; Manning stole hundreds of thousands of sensitive documents and revealed them to the world, in all likelihood causing a number of deaths and untold damage to our foreign operations. I'm still surprised they didn't just shoot him.
@Geoff King- I'm counting down the hours, minutes, and seconds. I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve.
@Stan da Man- Please tell me you weren't wearing lipstick, corset, and garters when you wrote that...
@Colby Muenster- Well of course the Trump family is staying in their own hotel. That's the only way Donald can be confident that he won't be caught on secret video while hookers are peeing on everything - right? (Facepalm)
@Dan- Oh, I definitely want the screen door to smack Barry in the ass and send him sprawling.
@Anonymous- Amen.
