I can honestly say that the thought never entered my mind.

I'm sure the "unhappy Obama" character will reappear from time to time, but for the most part you'll continue to see the standard "happy Obama" who usually appears in the strips.

Please know you have my sincere thanks for bringing up the topic and discussing it so eloquently - and for visiting regularly. Indeed, it's the same picture. However, the tweaked black and white rendering still comes out in such a way that could be misconstrued and I would hate to see something like that take away from the excellent commentary accompanying it. Thank you for what you do to keep us informed. In today's cartoon, in which you assert he "looks like a monkey," absolutely nothing has been done to his picture other than to render it in black and white.

Hope n' Change would never stoop to coarse and offensive racial stereotyping, and we're proud of the fact that we've got quite a few black fans and followers. We would never deliberately violate their trust, nor should any political website turn to such ugly and intellectually vacant arguments.

Please know that we appreciate your concern; you're right in all your substantive points, just wrong that we did (or ever would do) anything to turn the picture of Obama into a racially offensive image.

If you'd like to compare the original full-color photo of Obama with the black & white rendered version, you can see them side by side at the link below. In making the Hope n' Change version, we adjusted contrast, brightness, and gamma levels, then vectorized the final output. Absolutely nothing else was added, removed, or altered.

http://usera.ImageCave.com/Farley/ObamaFaces.jpgStilton Jarlsberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14503164551782304564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8993108951931633758.post-69220852822158973252010-01-20T11:54:32.137-06:002010-01-20T11:54:32.137-06:00Nice work Stilton...spot-on.Nice work Stilton...spot-on.Buzz Bannisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381566328347959069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8993108951931633758.post-80452805511887529162010-01-20T11:51:38.329-06:002010-01-20T11:51:38.329-06:00I've seen in the last two cartoons, that the c...I've seen in the last two cartoons, that the caricature of Obama kind of has him looking like a monkey. Personally, I think Obama is an evil man, but to portray him in a Darwinist manner, takes away from the biting, spot-on commentary that goes with the cartoon and gives something for lefties to go, "see...see...they portray a black (well, sorta black) man as a monkey". It takes the debate into an area it doesn't need to go and away from the real matter at hand.
