Air Farce One

New Yorkers ran in panic when the 747 (chased by an F-16 fighter jet) buzzed the Statue of Liberty then flew frighteningly close to skyscrapers. Buildings were evacuated. People shot cellphone videos while praying. A nightmare seemed to be coming to life again...
But noOOooo. The whole stunt had been arranged - and kept secret - because the Whitehouse "wanted to update its file photo of the president's plane near the Statue of Liberty." The old picture needed to be updated because it showed a couple of tall buildings that aren't there anymore...

Isn't there a comment somewhere around here about Obama doing stupid, idiotic things just because he CAN???
ReplyDeleteI guess he's not finished yet.
In fairness, it wasn't Obama who set up the photo shoot - but it was orchestrated by Whitehouse officials, solely to create an impressive picture of the President's jet and the Statue of Liberty - in other words, to create a publicity picture which would symbolize the President's patriotism.
ReplyDeleteI think the symbolism went farther than they intended: a picture of Air Force One apparently out of control...with no president inside.
And they didn't even inform the mayor?!?!? What were they thinking?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know thinking was part of their job description...
