Of course I suppose standing in the shower for extended periods of time would render us non-productive citizens and if over 65 eligible for end-of-life services.
Incidentally, my age leaves me "unworried" (personally, and temporarily) about that but for MY age the bill provides for alot more home visitations by the government to make sure we are raising our children properly. *sigh* Just read it in the actual bill. Not too excited about that.
Suzy, although no comparison was intended when the cartoon was created, you remind us that "the showers" were the last stop for the Holocaust Jews before the ovens. Of course, the showerheads dispensed cyanide gas instead of water.
Right now, both sides have been throwing around a lot of comparisons to Nazi Germany. That seems premature...but we would do well to remember that those atrocities really happened, and were committed by real people (not imaginary monsters). And that all of this happened within the living memory of some of the same white-haired protestors now voicing their concerns at townhall meetings.
The sad thing is, the Holocaust didn't happen overnight...and technically, it did have its very earliest roots in the same such behavior as our own government is showing right now. The question is, when will it stop? WILL it stop? And who, if anyone, will be the next "Jew"?

The showerheads reminder is very sobering.
