In an apparent admission that their commentary no longer bears any relationship to news on Earth, TIME Magazine has declared that the Obama-hating right wouldn't support the president even if he was defending the country from a martian invasion.

(For now, we'll ignore the obvious fact that our country already has been invaded by aliens...and Obama took their side.)

TIME then posits the moral superiority of liberals, saying that in the event of a crisis it's inconceivable that conservatives would ever rally around Obama "like the left did (albeit briefly) after September 11, 2001 for Bush."

For the record, "albeit briefly" may be the two saddest and most accurate words printed in TIME in the past year and a half...and they speak tellingly of the left's inability to sustain the pretense of strength, patriotism, or bipartisanship for more than a few weeks, even in the face of a real life-and-death invasion.

Just for the record, TIME, we don't think conservatives would reflexively choose invading martians over Obama. They'd simply have to evaluate all of the variables, then throw their support to the side least likely to destroy our country.

Okay, okay... That would probably be the martians.

  1. At least in "Mars Attacks!" they blew up all the politicians!

  2. As a high school teacher of mine once said. 'LIFE is for people who can't read'. 'TIME is for people who can read, but can't think.'

  3. I think the Simpsons covered this a few years ago in one of their Halloween specials - unfortunately their clips don't stay up on YouTube very long so I have nothing to link to, but I do remember "Kang for President". At the end of the episode, it shows earthlings in chains after they voted Kang President. Maybe Rassmussen can poll a Kang versus Obama race for TIME magazine.

Seriously, this must be some kind of good sign if TIME needs to reach that far into the future with such a "real-life" scenario to prove how evil conservatives are.

Finally, why the assumption that an alien invasion would be USA versus aliens, and not the world versus aliens? I'm sure now that Obama is President, our relationship and image with the aliens is much improved over when Bush was our President.

  4. I'm reading a book by a popular fiction author right now, and so far I've enjoyed his books but this one is vaguely giving the message that liberals love the "little guy" and stick up for the downtrodden and regular folks, while conservatives are Bible thumping, rich people loving, big corporation puppets.

Sounds off topic...but I just can't believe how far the deception has filtered its way into how society thinks and feels every day...the truth is being buried deeper and deeper....

The sooner the country can see whats going on in our government...I mean the WHOLE country...I'm not talking about LA boycotting Arizona and then teaching "why" in school....EVERYONE needs to be open to the truth...the sooner we can clean up this mess and go on.

  5. I just want a President that would "root" for us every now and then rather than spending time with his pastor g*d-d@mning America, so the press needs to get a handle on who is on what side. They could do that if they did not have their collective heads in the dark confines of Bammy's fanny.

  6. Buzz -

You raise a point that has been bugging me for quite some time now... the 2nd (or 3rd, depending on your views) says, to paraphrase, "You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God"

How is it then that a "man of the cloth" can openly preach before a congregation and use the name of God in such a context? I contemplate this as well as how Jackson and Sharpton get away with the title "Reverend" when I only see them in church when they are stumping for some politician / cause...

Anyway.. apologize for the diversion, your comment got me thinking about it again

  8. Actually, I think TIME may be correct. It has (nearly) happened before. You will recall that the French came to help the American colonist fight the British which is almost the same thing, so I think that TIME is on pretty solid ground here. This is particularly true when put in terms of evaluating which side will do less to destroy the nation, then it is a cinch that the Martians are the ones to back. I think we have to credit TIME with unusual foresight and accuracy in this one instance.

If only they could be this accurate in other matters that really count.

  9. A Martian invasion of Earth will never happen. But what would the hard-line Liberal reaction be if something realistic happened, like a Conservative killing someone for political reasons? Champagne corks would be flying and there would be dancing in the streets.

  10. the cartoon seems to imply that Marvin Martian was born in Hawaii?
