Bullseye

As leftwing media still struggles mightily to connect Jared Lee Loughner with Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh (all of whom, suspiciously, have vowels in their name), the Democrats are preparing to introduce a bill which would turn Loughner's paranoid, schizophrenic obsession into law.

Representative Robert Brady, who (unless he's really selfish) will call his legislation the "Brady/Loughner Bill," hopes to pass a federal law that would make it a "crime to use language or symbols which could be perceived as threatening" to federal officials or members of congress. Although it would presumably still be okay for politicians to threaten ordinary citizens, such as when Barack Obama tells supporters to "get in the faces" of his opponents, or "bring a gun to a knife fight."

As examples of the Brady/Loughner Bill, it would be a federal crime to put crosshairs or bullseyes into any political ad or commentary. Candidates could no longer be described as "targeted" or "vulnerable." Opponents
would no longer be said to "beat" each other, nor could hopeful candidates "have a shot" at winning an election.

Presumably, constituents will no longer be able to painfully "poke" their elected representatives on Facebook, nor send letters which might inflict dangerous paper cuts. Email, which could cause eyestrain, will be abolished. And when you think of the dangerous stress levels that candidates could suffer from losing an election...well, we'll have to put a stop to that, too.

Certainly all political opinions expressed on radio, television, print or the Internet are potentially capable of creating agitation in the unstable (whom Democrats seem to feel make up a dangerous percentage of Americans), so all such expression of opinion will be outlawed.

And then, when all of the words and thoughts are controlled...nothing like the Tucson shootings can ever happen again.

Unless they're committed by someone insane.

Again.

Loughner's final victim. Police believe he had accomplices.

  2. Clearly a "sight crime" above. The gunsight on the Constitution is inappropriate and inaccurate. In reality, a simple match will be just as effective. Sooner or later they'll have to get around to outlawing those as well.

  3. Holey CRAP!
    What a buffoon!
Who knew I'd be THAT right, THAT fast! (comment from the other day that policies based on the actions of the insane are likely to be irrational)
Now, given that local L.E. KNEW of this wackjob Loughner, and knew he had been making REAL threats against REAL people, and yet did NOTHING, what gives this utter ass clown the thought that 'more laws' are the answer?
Oh, right - he's a libby control freak, knows better than we do how we should live our lives...

  6. It's not about safety, even the safety of the craven scum we stupidly elect time after time. Like you said, Stilton, it's about control. The tighter you control a thing (or people) the more you own it and can guarantee your desired outcome which, in this case, is stronger and perpetual control.

  8. "Brady/Loughner Bill"... Why don't they call it what it really is... The "Big Brother Thought Crime/Mind Crime Prevention Bill"

  9. Earl - wouldn't it have been ironic if the Tucson shooting HAD occurred at a Target store? Think of the all the libs saying Target was part and parcel of the "Palin Conspiracy." A national boycot of their stores would be called for and the investigation of corporate management would be soon to follow.

  10. Readers- It's refreshing to read your comments, because seeing what the mainstream media is doing/saying is unbelievable. They make preposterous and unsubstantiated allegations and, if it makes us angry, then they say "Aha! See?! You're an angry conservative!"

The idea that all political discourse should, in the future, be approved by paranoid schizophrenics is astounding. When did America turn into a Kafka novel?

  11. Bobo. I agree. And what you say is not farfetched. It's fascinating in a horrible way to watch the left THINK they are logically connecting dots when in fact their arguments are so "off target" as to be utterly random. How ironic (and sad for them) that the shootings occurred near a Safeway. Can't make political hay with such a sweet name.

  12. I really do not mean this badly and I hope this is not tasteless....but I sincerely hope that when Giffords recovers sufficiently to communicate....that she will reprimand the way the government and the media are USING her injuries, and the deaths of others, for their own sick political ends!!!!!!!! Its absolutely pathetic....unfortunately, it was also easily predicted. :-S

  13. The scary part is the very people that this is supposed to protect get to do the perceiving. With such subjective criteria, it would be easy for say Nancy Pelosi to perceive that, let's say, Fox News or Glenn Beck made a perceived threat, while maybe Chris Matthews, saying nearly the same thing, did not.

What do we bloggers have to look forward to? With all of the new powers over the internet proposed, will the government be searching through content looking for key words and then sending the FBI to our doors? There are some scary people with some scary ideas out there, but the ones we should be most afraid of all do business in Washington.

I hope that can't be perceived as threatening.

  15. I think the metamorphosis started when the huckster refused to drop out of the primaries, allowing the Media to select McCain as the Repub nominee. That, combined w/ their utter dereliction of duty in investigating / reporting O's background got us to where we are now.

If you're wondering when "the Media" went from 'reporting' the news to 'creating' it - I don't know - Walter Cronkite, maybe? Certainly well into it by the time of Dan Rather and the TANG memo...

  16. The most frightening words in the English language: "We're from the government and we're here to help you." You won't find that phrase anywhere in the Constitution because our fore-fathers didn't intend for the government to be involved in our daily lives.

  17. Using Liberal "Logic", Wouldn't all the hate in the KKK be the fault of the Rap Music Industry because they incite hate for blacks by using the "N" word all the time. The same industry is also to be blamed for all the rape and violence against women. Secular humanism must be responsible for all crimes against mankind because they teach that we are just apes with thumbs - I like this "never take responsibility for anything you do, blame it on someone else" trick. I'll never be guilty of any wrong doing ever again. If you cheat on your wife, it's Clinton's or Tiger Woods' fault. If you kill your wife, it's O. J.'s fault, If you do drugs, it's Lindsy Lohan's fault. If you can't find someone to blame, it can always be Bush's fault.

  18. The "News Media" is, and has been, nothing more than another form of mass marketed entertainment since the 1960's... right up there with talk shows, soap operas, and professional wrestling. Listening to a "loyal viewer" of CNN/MSNBC/etc. is like listening to a "loyal viewer" of Oprah, Days of our Lives, or WWF... The more bombastic the "plot line" the more dedicated the "loyal viewer" is to the B.S. being spewed.

  19. This may be slightly off-topic, but isn't it curious how hard the Pima County Sheriff is working to pin responsibility on Rush Limbaugh and any other right wing talkers/bloggers? This sheriff was familiar with the shooter and, as I've been told, even advised people not to pursue prosecutions against him for previous acts and death threats. Is it at all possible that the sheriff could have done something proactively to blunt Loughner's murderous leanings and chose not to? Are we seeing a desperate attempt to deflect the spotlight from his own malfeasance?

  20. I'm particularly bothered by the notion that our Congressional Representatives are now to be considered some kind of special class of people somehow deserving of special protection. Once elected, they will quickly absorb the idea that they are "special" and they will come to expect it and will not give that notion up willingly. It is an insanely dangerous idea to let lawmakers think they're so much more important than "We the People" when any one of us is likely to be the victim of a nutjob. Pete(Detroit) was SO RIGHT!!

  21. Readers- How many here remember the story of "stone soup?" A hungry man puts a stone in a pot of boiling water claiming it will make soup, then promises to let skeptical townspeople share the amazing meal if they throw a little something in the pot themselves; carrots, potatoes, meat, etc. And sure enough, the pot eventually produces wonderful soup...and the well-fed man walks away with the stone that wasn't necessary at all.

Today, Loughner is that "soup stone" - the one completely unnecessary ingredient for the potboiling media, who are throwing in everything possible in hopes that we'll forget how the whole thing started.

And the degree to which they're succeeding is a truly frightening commentary on our times.

If the elect get this special security won't they want it for life? The shooting is the fault of the shooter and no one else. Maybe mommy didn't hug him enough or some professor didn't give him an A+ just for showing up but it is still his fault.

  23. I see we are all deeply disappointed in our fellow Americans who are using this tragedy for their own political gain....very very sad commentary on todays mindset in the 'ruling class'. Please remember who in particular is pushing this crap and vote them out next chance you get! Also pray for the healing of everyone involved in this mess.

  24. If I remember right, the Pima County Sheriff runs on the Democrat ticket. Likewise, Pima County is a stronghold for the D party. 'Nuf said.

  25. I belive you're correct Bobo; if memory serves, and my election ticket research last year was correct, the Pima County political machine runs on the Democrat Ticket. So is anyone surprised by Dupnik and the “Circus of the Absurd” he’s been ring master of for God knows how many years?

Bottom line to all of this libtard finger pointing nonsense is: God forbid Jared Loughner should be held solely responsible for his own actions, because that would mean we’re all solely responsible for our own actions… and in the “Progressive/Entitlement Mentality Sector” personal responsibility is like Kryptonite to Superman.

  26. Remember it's not WHAT you say, but the way you say it, right? :>} What if it turns out that Loughner heard that the government IS in fact trying to control our behaviour by using different SIN TAXES. I am NOT joking. This expression has been fairly prevalent the last few years. It's not much of a reach.
