Bully Pulpit
It seems a president's work is never done. At least, not by this president - who is largely ignoring the ongoing tragedy in Japan and the escalating carnage in Libya, but recently found time to kick off the government's "anti-bullying" campaign with heartrending tales from his own childhood.
At an event kicking off the new, taxpayer funded StopBullying.gov the alleged president says he "feels the pain of those who have been bullied." He then added, "I have to say, with big ears and the name that I have (Barack Barry Hussein Soetoro Obama), I wasn't immune."
But frankly, we doubt his story. His ears weren't that freaking big and at the time he was living in Hawaii, where many kids have names like Kamehameha, Mekawiwi, and Pupuhahahahaha. No, if kids were going to tease him, it would more likely have been about being abandoned by a father who was a no-legged, alcoholic bigamist. Or perhaps kids might have mocked him for his odd habit of washing his feet five times a day. But since Obama didn't mention it, those things probably didn't happen.
So we think the president is probably just making things up to help support a noble (and well-funded) cause: anti-bullying.
Because seriously, who cares more about stopping bullying than a man who routinely calls conservatives ugly names...and has declared he's going to take our health insurance money or beat us up?
Stilton Jarlsberg
zOMG! You mean he took time off from his golf game to address this newest round of human injustice?
ReplyDeleteWhy, the man's a SAINT, I tell you!
Earthquake....what's that?
Barry just gets to make up any memories that are convient. My government classes -- many of whom grew up in New York --- particularly liked Obama's BS I mean memories on PAGE SIX of how white people would walk their dogs several blocks out of their way to poop in front of the apartment where he shared a second story apartment. This in the neighborhood near Columbia. A transexual grey alien living in sin with a half mermaid half Bozo the Clown Hybrid MIGHT, repeat MIGHT, get noticed in that neighborhood but certainly not to the point of people walking their dogs out of the way. Of course, having servants who walked his dog in Hawaii Barry couldn't have known a dog won't wait several blocks to crap for anybody. Then, how did he know where they were supposed to do it, eh? He followed them?? Oh, what the heck. If you can make up where you were born, your medical history, your college transcripts what a little poop here and there, right?
ReplyDeleteThe reason Obama is supporting this nanny-state idea is because, well...it's a nanny-state idea. That, and he probably believes he can hang the whole concept of "bullying" on Republicans, the evil meanies, just in time for the start of glorious re-beatification campaign. As for his curious silence about Japan's woes...he's waiting to see which side will win.
ReplyDelete@DrJim - Actually, Obama still golfed this weekend. Since nothing really important was going on.
ReplyDelete@Moronpolitics - I'd forgotten Obama's dog poo story until you reminded me. And it's really a perfect example of the distorted lens Barry views the world through: he's angry and resents white people, and they have it coming because of imagined affronts.
@Angry Hoosier Dad- I'm barely awake ("Spring forward, Fall back") but got a real laugh out of your observation that Obama is waiting to see "which side will win" in Japan. It's funny (in a horrible way) because it's true.
AHD - the part he's going to 'hang' on the Reps is when they delete any federal funds. "You're so heartless, how can you DO this, it's for the CHILDRENNN!!!!!"
ReplyDeleteNeed, NEED to drive home 1) there is NO money for anything that is not strictly essential 2) balancing budget / paying off debt is REALLY "for the children."
My mom and dad were divorced when I was 1 year old and I lived with my mom who didn't know anything about dealing with bullies. My Uncle Ivan showed me how to stop them: first kick the stuffing out of them, then knock them down, then "stomp them for followin'" It worked!
ReplyDelete@Doktor Paulie - That's pretty much the same advice they give over at StopBullying.gov. By any chance did your Uncle Ivan recently get a lucrative stimulus grant to create a government website...?
ReplyDeleteThis cretin of a president has completely debased the idea of the Anti-bullying campaign. It's not to stop teasing for big ears. It's not to stop "four eyes" and all the rest of teasing. He was teased, not bullied. Teasing is good, normal, even healthy. Life is not fair, teasing helps with dealing with that.
ReplyDeleteThe anti-bullying campaign is about stopping the pulverizing of kids because they are gay or perceived as such. Tease us all you want, that's so adorable. When my friend's daughter saw me flirting with a guy and she said, "I saw Mr. Jim, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" her parents were worried I'd be upset. NO! That's endearing teasing. I was tickled pink.
Let me tell you another story -- in 1975 I was being bullied so severely that I finally, strategically, picked out the two biggest offenders and went ballistic. That was 9th Grade. In two separate incidents as they pulled me off of the bullies screaming "call me fag one more time, I'll kill you!" I made my point. 10th -12th grades were calm and sweet.
And this idiot has the audacity to talk about him? He has single handedly infuriated so many thinking gay people as to shock the daylights out of you all. It's sissy beating, moron Obama, not big ear teasing. He's infuriating.
@Jim Hlavac- Although I question Obama's priorities in this time of multiple crises, I don't underrate the destruction that bullies can do. But is this really yet another area for the government to try to intercede...and to take our tax dollars to do so?
ReplyDeleteInstead of trying to convince bullies to get to know themselves, and share a hug with others, how about we give school principals permission to whack the little bastards with a paddle, and/or expel them? What it lacks in subtlety, it makes up for in efficacy, cost efficiency, and common sense.
