Hope's On First

After careful analysis of Barack Obama's shiny new war on Libya and reviewing the state of his "international coalition," we can say with some confidence (and just a tasteful hint of dyslexia) that it is a complete fustercluck.

Not only is no one clearly in charge, nor is there a clear mission, but things are so screwed up that Mr. Obama now has NATO members sniping at each other in a desperate rush to avoid accountability for this mess.

Germany is pulling its equipment out of the coalition, France says that they're not at war with
anyone and want a political committee to start making decisions, Italy is claiming that France is pushing NATO actions only to get oil, and Barack Obama is increasingly stammering that he "vas only followink orders" from the United Nations...despite his earlier assertions that he "directed" the start of this entire endeavor.

Adding to the chaos, the U.S. Secretary of Defense says we've never "done something like this kind of on-the-fly before," and Al Qaeda is rooting for the team which is currently getting air support from the
U.S. military.

But although an international game of musical chairs is now going on to see who'll get stuck with the blame and the rapidly-mounting costs, it's clear that
this is Barack Obama's war all the way.

And sadly, it proves once and for all the tragedy of electing a president whose most obvious qualities are megalomania and complete ineptitude.

Thank goodness there's an experienced community organizer in charge.

  1. The French lead us into war. The Germans say "nein."

  2. If it wasn't going to cause 100's of thousands and maybe millions of deaths watching Obama would be funny. He has never run anything, not even a scout troop or coached a 6-8 year olds basketball team at the YMCA. He is desparately, franticly trying to find a way to "vote present" which got him through ALL his other goovernment positions. At most, he just voted along with 100 other Senators and somewhere, someone else took action. He was put in charge of a subcomittee on Afghanistan -- a war he called the "real war" and "where the US should be concentrating" but HE NEVER HELD A SINGLE MEETING IN TWO YEARS. Wanna bet he never figured out how to call a meeting and didn't want to ask? I mean, he would look really stupid if he asked, right? If there was a meeting, he would have been expected to chair it and have an agenda. Can't you hear him on phone with Hillary? Her saying we have to do SOMETHING? Him trying to figure out who to call and say what? Telling her to just make it clear we aren't leading anything and running away to Rio hoping someone will do whatever needs doing while he's gone.
Hmmm...Gay rights, bullying, what the hell can He give a speech on next? "stay in school"?? did that??? Can't a space shuttle crash or something damn it? Jesus...2 days without an NCAA game...that's why people are asking stuff....

  3. I am so sick of this "man child" screwing around with the world that I could explode. His immature and almost cavalier attitude and decision making is the problem...Impeachment is the solution.

  4. @Moronpolitics -- um, actually -- on that gay rights thingy? -- Obama's clearer on Libya.

And since I do, um, "play for the other team," the last thing I want is for him to root for us, or we're doomed. Remember, just because he appointed a socialist who's gay here and there, doesn't mean he likes us free market, leave us alone, cut our taxes, repeal ObamaCare gay folks. Of whom there's a growing number, as I discovered yet again last night down at the club, where I was beset with "What is that idiot doing now!?!" questions.

And then we talked about Libya, and how Obama is screwing that up, too.

And you know, I've seen troops of drag queens who are more organized than this guy who claims to be president.

  5. This just in (From my MOM!!!) Works for me!

Solution to the problem in Libya:
They want a new Muslim leader..

    I say, give them ours.
    Solves 2 problems.

Kind of funny - Domestically, the country would do more or less OK w/o a president at all - it's internationally where the position is really necessary. And here we have this guy, useless internationally, and jacking things all to heck here at home...

  7. I truly hate that daffy dictator of Libya, however you spell his name, and I wish him dead, but I have sympathy for the people of Libya. Right now it seems that Obama is their best friend. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. And I thought it sucked to be us!
    BTW, Moronpolitics: Good analysis.
Pete: I wish my mom thought like yours. She still loves the empty suit. Ugh.

  8. This guy has been the biggest, saddest, most dangerously-awful joke in American history. I HOPE everyone who voted for him is happy with their "CHANGE".

  9. Here is the estimable Michael Barone's take on this (more dyslexia) mucking fess. Clearly an object lesson in listening to Samantha Power...

  10. Has anyone asked this simple question: Who's going to end up in charge in Libya after Quadaffy is dispatched? My guess is that's where the real suffering and bloodshed is going to take place.

  11. @Readers- Too many good comments for me to start picking them out individually, and we're all on the same page here. Speaking of which, the Wall Street Journal titled this morning's editorial on all of this "Who's On First?" It's never a good sign when everyone siezes on the same comedy routine to sum up a president's foreign policy.

And as John the Econ points out, the really big question is what will happen in Libya in the future (with or without Gadhafi)? Obama said he could snap his fingers and disengage completely in "days, not weeks." But reality doesn't work that way. Not that "reality" has ever been a major component in this president's worldview.

  12. Absolutely, Stilton. After all, Bush assumed he'd be done with Iraq mere weeks after the Saddam statues came down...

  13. Strictly speaking, fustercluck is not dyslexia, but rather a "spoonerism".

  14. You just reminded me how freaking funny the Marx Brothers, Three Stooges and Abbott & Coltello were. I wish THEY were in charge of our country!

BO is funny too, when you think about it. Much like the sliced turkey that has been in your fridge for two months.... still looks OK, but.... funny, you know?

  15. @Anonymous- Is it still a spoonerism if I say that Obama forked up? (grin)

  17. @Pete - Hope your mom doesn't mind, but I borrowed that for my facebook. She sounds awesome.

  18. SC - Sure - you can be the 'designated orphan'... conversation *is* pretty good, sitting around, passing gravy, ragging on each other (and the kids)... Unless my goofy libby brother and his left of nancy pelosi wife are there. then all awkward. Them being veggies doesn't help, either... but yeah, raising four boys w/ the help of an engineer she's a bit goofy, in some good ways.

Spring, if Mom didn't want it shared, she would not have sent it to me.. ((-'pb

  19. @Readers- I'm sensing a groundswell of demand for a new political blog called "Pete's Mom." Hey, I'd read it every day!

  20. With each new screw-up, Obama's faithful are starting to decompose before our eyes...I love it! Like someone above said, it would be funny if it weren't so tragic!

Seems to me the Libyan deal is one where we just pick the lesser of the evils to assist...of course in war, you can die assisting...so pray for all involved, and actually pray for Obama...I do, not because I like him or want him around, but because I feel God will take care of us all if we do that! And, brother, we all could use the help!

  21. Jim Hlavac... I'm sorry, but I can't remember to which world crisis our President responded by announcing the Department of Justice would no longer defend the legally passed and signed "Defense of Marriage Act". Characterize it differently than I did if you wish, my point remains that when major events occur he seems to go out and make a speech on unrelated issues that he seems to think shores up one or another of his "supporter groups". These seem to be, in his estimation, GLTG, Feminists/women, Black/Brown/Olive complected people, people under 25, Union Members... not necessarily in that order.
As far as you "playing for the other team", my team ain't playing...those that are tend to agree with "the other team". This isn't my forum so ....another time and place perhaps.

  22. Robert - sorry, no, Mom is NOT hot. I've said for years that she's better looking than Liz Taylor, but that's not saying much. She *is* kind, pleasant, reasonably intelligent, devoted to her grandkids and very involved in the church, w/ her husband (my Dad) an ordained deacon. So, even if she WAS hot, she wouldn't be interested. She sends me all kinds of goofy stuff from her likewise UberCatholic type friends, and that's the first thing I've found worthy of re-posting.

Might be kind of fun to have the kind of 'your mom' that people think of that way, but was nice growing up w/ a 'real mom' who stayed at home, had dinner on the table, baked cookies for the jar, and fed you liquid jello when you were sick (seriously, try it).

Stilt - she can about manage e-mail - let's not push the envelope w/ blogging... ((-'pb

  23. Was just reading a piece from American Thinker, and found that Obama really is quite the general in his own way....

Whether it is the free health care promised to tens of millions of new Medicaid recipients or mortgage principle reductions ("cramdowns") promoted at every turn by his Justice Department, Obama acts like a political general in the class war -- the war of the government services-dependent poor and unionized public sector against the middle class. Among the first acts of his administration were the expansion "making work pay" and child credit benefits: welfare of the sort that had been trimmed by the GOP Congresses of the 1990s.

Yep, he's a big shot in the class war against the middle class!

  24. The mid-east is a tenderbox going off as we watch. Gadhafi is a peice of garabage but at least things were stable in the country. Reagan knew this.
    Obama is clueless.
He wonders why when President Reagan bombed them Gadhafi behaved himself. That's because we hit and walked away with him not knowing what would happen next. He was afraid of us then.
Obama has laid his hand out and let Gadhafi see all the cards. Plus Obama is a weak leader.

Obama can't play 5 card stud. He loses ever time.

  25. Pete, of course I was just kidding about the mom thing. I figured, correctly, that you would take it as intended and not get all pc and be offended. A huge difference between us and the neo-communists. They have no sense of humor at all. And God bless your mom. She sounds exactly like mine.
