National Public Ridicule

Today, we praise Allen Funt. For those of you too young to know the name, he created a hidden camera TV show called "Candid Camera" way back in 1948. It's goal: "To catch you in the act of being yourself."

Today, cameras are much smaller and easier to hide...which is how conservative activist James O'Keefe managed to record a cheery and enthusiastic torrent of hate speech from the President of the NPR Foundation, Ron Schiller, who
believed he was privately chatting with two men offering a $5 million dollar donation from a group closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

During the chummy, dinner table conversation, Schiller described the Tea Party movement as
"anti-intellectual, white, middle America, gun-toting, fundamental Christian" types who are "seriously racist people" and who have "hijacked" the Republican party. After making these accusations of racism, Schiller then said he was proud that NPR recently fired Juan Williams - their only black air personality. And sensing that he was on a roll with his new Islamic best buds, Schiller enthused that there is no "Zionist" influence at NPR, nor any support for Israel among NPR's major donors and supporters, unlike other media outlets which he implied were controlled by Jews.

Happily, there has been fallout from all of this. Schiller has either been fired or simply chosen to leave his high-paying position, depending on whether you believe his statements or those of the damn Jew-controlled mainstream media.

And his boss, Vivian Schiller - who fired NPR's only black commentator for admitting that Muslims in religious garb make him slightly nervous on plane flights, and sneered that Williams needed psychiatric help - has also had her sudden "resignation" (cough, cough) accepted by NPR's board of directors. In the interim, Schiller's position will be filled by Joyce Slocum, NPR's alleged Chief Ethics Officer and General Counsel, who clearly has been doing a bang-up job of advising on All Things Ethical.

But why are heads rolling now? Because Congress has to cut the budget...and a very easy cut will be the $450 million tax dollars that have been going to support arrogant, distorted hate speech which attacks the very Americans NPR is supposed to be serving..

We hope those cuts will be coming soon, because an ugly and anti-American mindset is clearly ingrained in the NPR corporate culture. And just because two of the whores are gone is no reason to keep funding the bordello.

Update 4:15 pm - James O'Keefe has now released a new audio recording, in which NPR's new interim director is named as the the legal counsel who would be preparing documents allowing the "pro-Shariah law Muslims" to hide their $5 million dollar contribution from potential government audits and oversight. Ouch!

  1. I've always thought NPR was a hotbed of Anti-American rabble.
Looks like I may have been correct....

  2. It's funny, I used to tune in a few years ago while I was driving because it seemed calm and quiet, discussing various non-combative subjects.
But slowly...I would listen to the guests they had on and started to realize these people had an agenda. But more importantly, the station never had anyone on with rebuttal.
I even thought back then..."Huh?...Public radio? Doesn't our tax dollars pay for this?"

  3. Maybe we're finally going to get the change we've hoped for!

  4. There are 'public' radio stations that do a nice job, presenting classical jazz (if you like that sort of thing, for instance) but as a rule I've wanted them de-funded for YEARS. Their uber-biased BS just starts to GRATE after oh, 30 sec or so...

  5. So ironic. NPR is perhaps the least diverse organization in North America.

And they are complete hypocrites. Am still waiting for Nina Totenberg to be fired for "hate crimes", just like any self-respecting NPR host would demand of anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi for the kind of things she's said on the record.

Oh, and I DO listen to NPR. I don't need to listen to right-wing media because I am quite familiar with what they think. But I believe in listening even closer to your enemy...

  6. So, NPR says Tea Party people are "anti-intellectual, white, middle America, gun-toting, fundamental Christians" eh?

Well, I stand (well, sit,) here as proof it's not true! I'm an intellectual -- I have no gun -- I'm way-out-in-left-field Jan Hus Christian -- and somehow I don't think anyone is calling this gay guy "middle America" for sure. About the only thing on the list I am is "white." (And that's truly something I CAN blame my parents for.)

So the next time you all hear this crud you can say -- "Well, I know this gay guy ... " And that should stir the pot. And there's lots more of us! There's something about "Don't Tread On Me" that tickles a gay guy's soul.

(And NPR is anti-gay too, while I'm at it.)

  7. A nit, but an important one. In this sentence: "Schiller enthused that there is no "Zionist" influence at NPR, nor any support for Israel among NPR's major donors and supporters, unlike other media outlets which he inferred were controlled by Jews." You should have used the word "implied" rather than "inferred". Don't do that again. I HOPE to see some CHANGE regarding this behavior.

  8. Manfred- D'oh!! You're right, and I've since corrected my grammatical gaffe. That's the kind of straightforward admission of guilt you just never get from those other, Zionist-controlled webcomics. And you can infer my thanks...I think it's implied. (grin)

  9. As usual, while liberals are busy bashing the right as racist because we dislike handing free money to poor minorities while pretending they are victims or because we wont engage in political correctness when speaking about it, they are engaged in real racism when they think no one is looking. I guess that's the difference between the right and the left. The right will generally speak the truth even if someone is offended while the left will say one thing to your face and another behind your back. They take pains to not offend anyone with their opinions, but their opinions are usually pretty offensive.

  10. You identified Ron Schiller as President at NPR. But, wasn't Vivian Schiller the CEO and President, and wasn't Ron Schiller a vice president at NPR?

Thank you, Mr. Jarlsberg. I look forward to your excellent work every day!

  11. I know it isn’t healthy, but like John, I too listen to NPR during my commute and for much the same reason. The bias is blatant in what they report, what they don’t report, and how they report. If they fold, I’ll have a more pleasant commute, but I’ll have to find another way to keep informed of the delusions consuming the other side.

  12. I was listening to the radio a short while ago and I believe I heard the host state that Obama wants to increase CPB funding by 350 million. I guess there's more that one way to give the Republicans in Congress the middle finger.

  13. Gary- The whole Schiller/President thing is confusing. Vivian Schiller is the President and CEO of NPR, but Ron Schiller is the President of the NPR Foundation, as well as a fund-raising VP for NPR. Basically, everyone named Schiller gets to be some sort of high-paid President.

Interestingly, on a carnival lot a "shiller" is someone who pretends to be a regular person while enthusing about a product, show, or game - encouraging others in the crowd to part with their money. Coincidence? I think not.

Chuck- NPR wouldn't fold without federal money, though some of their outlying (or is that "out lying") stations might be hard-pressed to keep broadcasting.

Angry Hoosier Dad- Yes, in these desperate financial times, Obama has actually suggested throwing another $350 million on to the CPB fire. Although he knows that won't happen with the GOP in the House, so what he's actually doing is putting in a budget item that he knows will go away, so he can subsequently point to another $350 million in imaginary "cuts" under his administration.

  14. I'm all for defunding NPR. And stripping them of tax free status so they have to compete on a level playing field with their media rivals.
They won't vanish overnight. They have a huge, Disney-class lineup of very profitable commercial proprietary brands, from kid's shows to Garrison Keillor. They can absolutely survive as a broadcast entity without Fed funds. Unless they bungle things so badly that the Keillor's et al jump ship for greener pastures.

What they likely WON'T continue is their news, left or otherwise. It's never a profitable division, and they'll conclude that, however 'reluctantly'. Some familiar voices will try to jump to MSNBC. Good luck with that.

What's never discussed is that NPR/PBS have clung to the obsolete 1960s network-affiliate biz model, unchanged, and defunding will blow that model up. Local stations will have to scramble for more relevant content than NPR/PBS sells them, and many will fold, largely unnoticed because classical jazz and the classics are available now from a zillion sources.
So I see a defunded NPR surviving, mutating into a struggling imitation of MSNBC, then fading away within a few years.

  15. I'm hoping the badly-misnamed "Democracy Now" will disappear. It should be called "Socialism Now". Would naming it truthfully make it disappear sooner?

  16. I personally think Charlie Sheen should take over npr, we know he can do a media show! AND ITS A WINNER!!!!just ask him.(before he dies)

  17. I can see some of the Rats at National Propaganda Radio and the Propaganda Broadcasting Service bouncing over to Radio Pacifica, MSNBC, Current, or any of the other Far Left broadcasting networks if they fold up. I anticipate that any funding lost will be made up with money from Soros and/or one of his front organizations, like Media Mutters.

  18. This is a skewed and disingenuous post. Schiller gave the GOP better ammunition than you cite here by stating outright it would be better if NPR received no federal funding. And not sure what the parenthesis questioning Schiller's position at NPR is about. He was a Senior Vice President who had announced his resignation but was still on the job, representing NPR to potential donors.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Atlanta Roofing- First, I agree that you've made a skewed and disingenuous post, and I thank you for giving all of the readers here a warning before they tried to figure it out.

I'm confused when you complain that Ron Schiller gave the GOP better ammunition than I cite above - are you saying that I was too easy on him? That he and NPR are worse than I think? Well, okay - you've convinced me. They're America-hating bastards and they don't need our tax money. Hey, you're right! That does sound better!

You then say you're not sure what the "parenthesis questioning Schiller's position at NPR is about." I can go you one better and say I'm not even sure what the heck you're talking about. There is no parenthetical in my comments referring to Ron Schiller at all. None. It doesn't exist.

There's a parenthetical suggesting that VIVIAN Schiller had her ass handed to her by the money-hungry board of directors at NPR, and that she didn't actually willingly resign in a burst of insight and self-loathing. But you've made it quite clear that this isn't the Schiller you're talking about.

This being the case, you've won the highly coveted "WTF Comment of the Day" for firmly expressing opinions that are still a complete mystery to me.
