Forgive and Forget
Today, in the aftermath of Osama bin Laden's death, Barack Hussein Obama will visit New York's Ground Zero for the first time since being elected and remind Americans of the importance of coming together in a renewed sense of unity.
And by "unity," of course, he means "total amnesia."
Because Mr. Obama desperately wants America to forget virtually everything about his administration's "War on War on Terror."
He'd like us to forget that his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, stood on the floor of the senate soon after the 9/11 attacks displaying a headline that proclaimed "BUSH KNEW!" He'd like us to forget Whitehouse staffer Van Jones, who wasn't shy about telling people that Bush actually blew up the twin towers. And Mr. Obama would like Americans to forget that his pastor of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, described the 9/11 attacks as "America's chickens coming home to roost."
To achieve our all-important moment of "unity," it's critical that we forget Barack Obama's promise to close Guantanamo, and that he downgraded the ability of the CIA to interrogate prisoners. We have to expunge from our memories the fact that Eric Holder considered criminal prosecution of the very people who helped obtain the information that brought down Osama bin Laden...and favored expensive, dangerous, and legally risky "show trials" for terrorists in the still-bleeding heart of New York (while delaying for two years the military tribunals which Obama and Holder thought untrustworthy).
Mr. Obama invited President George W. Bush to his Ground Zero "unity" appearance apparently hoping that Mr. Bush would forget the many times that Obama accused him personally of ignoring Osama bin Laden in favor of starting a "war of choice" in Iraq. Perhaps he also hoped Bush would forget that Mr. Obama likes to invite people to gatherings at which he intends to insult them - as he did with the Supreme Court justices and Paul Ryan.
And of course, "unity" means that Barack Obama would like us to forget that he refused to make a statement to the American people on the Ground Zero Mosque controversy...but days later, at his Ramadan feast, announced to a room filled with Muslim dignitaries that he strongly supported it.
So whenever you hear Barack Hussein Obama say the word "unity," know that he really means "forget."
Just as he should know that real Americans will "Never Forget."
Bonus: Despite having earlier said "F**k you" to the American public with regards to providing proof of Osama bin Laden's death (or even a consistent story about the death), the Whitehouse has now released this official, authentic, unretouched "death photo" which is of unquestionable veracity according to Whitehouse veracity experts. Hope n' Change hopes this will settle the matter to everyone's satisfaction.
Stilton Jarlsberg
If Americans are united - and they have been, more or less, since Osama's death, sure hoping it sticks - it's in spite of Obama and his admirers, not because of it. Obama has about as much interest in easing political tension as he does in shooting himself in the foot - an atmosphere where the left maniacally worship him and shun anyone from the right is the only way he'll stay popular. If we start to get along too much, we might start to listen to each other.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the death photo controversy, a friend on another forum suggested the WH screen the death photos/kill video to a selection of journalists, who can then confirm for us that this is real without inflaming anyone. It'd silence all the but the most determined of the conspiracy theorists, as well.
And regarding Bin Laden's burial at sea (you don't mention it up there, but I wanted to bring this up); I know quite a few American muslims, and was talking with them about the death recently. They were enthusiastically disapproving of Bin Laden being treated with such respect. The more I think about it, the more I think we should have just dumped him in a hole somewhere -not only are we acting as if our enemy has some sort of power over us, if there is anything good in Islam, then we are demeaning it. This man did not deserve these considerations.
But on a lighter note: Michael Ramirez!
http://townhall.com/political-cartoons/michaelramirez/2011/05/03/87330
As far as Osama's burial is concerned: even the most lowly hole in the ground can be beatified by fanatical adherents. The sea does not give up her dead thereby denying a rallying point and sacred location to these persons.
ReplyDeleteWhile I would have preferred the Pershing option, this is probably the best way to dispose of the toxic corpse. I hope that it doesn't kill any fish (Greenpeace will have kittens).
Yay Ramirez! I may just have to print that off for my cube!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I liked the suggestion (not sure if it was here or not) that a 'tomb' could be used as a 'rallying point' - gather all AlQ into one target rich environment... Certainly, the lack of a body will not prevent that...
And I think the disposal at sea was the right thing to do - deny these perpetual adolescents that excuse for random rioting jackassery...
I think the only "unity" Turdboy is interested in is the unity of sheep gathered around him. As much as I complain about Americans being "sheeple", in my heart I still believe that we are independent and freedom-loving and we (eventually) recognize a crap sandwich for what it is.
ReplyDeleteThe "Unity" of purpose for the American people is to remove this Progressive Socialist Muslim from office along with his herd of sheep. If we fail to do so, then we deserve what is coming.
ReplyDeleteOMG people, hit the 'Day by Day' link under 'Great Blogs' on the left. Not that it isn't worth reading EVERY day, but today is just hysterical...
ReplyDeleteRicko:
ReplyDeleteIf I step in a pile of dog doo, it's not because I deserve it. It's because I wasn't paying attention. We must pray that, by 2012, people are paying attention. They certainly weren't in 2008 and we stepped in it big time. You are right in your vision of our unity of purpose. I just hope I'm not being called upon to unite behind some squishy, half-baked, "moderate" Republican. That will be a hard slog indeed.
@Stilton - you are right on the mark as to why Obama invited President Bush - to feed the Obama ego and an opportunity to insult Bush with him there ("If you hadn't lost your focus, you could have gotten him, but I did instead ... neener - neener - neener.").
ReplyDeleteAnd in the released picture of the situation room with the security team, with Obama sitting in the corner ... doesn't he look kind of small, out of place, and so NOT in charge? And it looked like Hillary was about to hurl.
If I hear how Obama was decisive one more time, I think I'll hurl. See this for a thought provoking read:
http://socyberty.com/issues/white-house-insider-obama-hesitated-panetta-issued-order-to-kill-osama-bin-laden/
Ah, yes, Obama's desire for unity. Besides all that is pointed out here, rightfully, on the Osama-Obama fracas, I spent the morning going through some gay news blogs and it seems Eric Holder and Obama, through his spokesman, and their mouthpiece at the Washington Post, are quite upset with us gay folks for not uniting with Boehner, King & Spalding, or any lawyer who takes up the defense of DOMA. We've been told to shut up and take it like a man. So the dream team up there in DC have now angered every gay person in the nation by saying we're bad for us not uniting with anyone who defends that odious law. They seem to think we have some obligation to discuss the "merits" of it. And even to support anyone who defends calling us "Domestic Terrorists" as Tony Perkins has been doing daily for a week now as he cries about the law he claims he crafted and got passed. They are also quite sure we should pay for the defense of the law against us with our own tax dollars, and not utter a peep. It's been quite dis-unifying, I can assure you.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, on same blogs -- it's 9 out of 10 who say "Release the photos!" And 7 out of 10 who think he's just bungled the whole thing already. 6 out of 10 think Bush deserves a good deal of credit. And 10 out of 10 who are just so damn proud of what our soldiers did over there and thank God they all returned safe and sound.
And so it seems, the president is indeed unifying the nation -- against him. Wait till we start to discuss gay prices and presidential policies, eh?
"Gas prices" -- not "gay prices." oops
ReplyDelete@Readers- Good posts all, but I want to call special attention to Chuck's link to a very believable story about who really ran the bin Laden operation...and who tried to stop it (hint: Obama).
ReplyDeleteSeriously, read this right now. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the information, but I believe every syllable.
Baracky Fife was trying to vote "present" again. Some day, long after he's been out of office, maybe he'll grow up and realize that the president of the US can't just vote "present"!
ReplyDeleteStilton,
ReplyDeletePlease stop using the words Obama and Osama in the same paragraph. It is making me confuse the two. One is a power hungry, anti-American, narcissistic, evil child, and the other is a... WAIT! Never mind; the two names are sort of interchangeable.
I'm not one given to conspiracy theories, but it really does bother me that we can't see photos and bin Laden was so quickly disposed of. The Bible tells us that the "beast" will be killed but will come back to life, more powerful than ever. I don't really think bin Laden is the beast, but it's.... creepy.
@Colby- Plus, bin Laden's body was dumped into the ocean at the same time Japanese reactors are filling the seas with radioactivity. Didn't ANYONE at the Whitehouse see "Godzilla?" Now we'll be stuck with a 90-foot bin Laden rampaging through Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteAnd it will be Bush's fault.
Stilton:
ReplyDeleteRegarding that photo of the situation room. Are you sure Obama wasn't photo-shopped into that picture. Hell, he looks smaller than the woman in the very back behind everyone else. If real, I get the impression he doesn't want to be seen there. I know that snapshots are often inaccurate representations of reality, but damn, Sam, he just looks weak and tentative. As for who really ran the show, I think eventually the whole truth will come out.
In a related note: have you-all noticed how the Pakistanis have claimed that only one of the men shot at the UBL justice site was armed? And how shocked, SHOCKED! They are over this? Observation: if I'm a SEAL and I've just plugged an armed man, I'm going to police up any weapons he might have had, and not just leave them lying around for somebody to grab. So just how can the Pakis be sure the others weren't armed or reaching for a weapon when shot? Possibly relevant question: how many people were armed in those airliners on 9/11? How many were armed in the Twin Towers? How many were armed on those corridors at the Pentagon? So what if the SEAL's targets WERE unarmed? If they didn't have a sense of humor about such things, they should have chosen a different line of work!
ReplyDeleteOh, and how many women and kids were killed at the UBL justice site, versus how many were killed on the airliners on 9/11, or in the Twin Towers, or at the Pentagon? The Pakis are infuriated? They should take their despicable and absurd anger and sit on it and rotate.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you guys...Obama never does anything unless he benefits politically (or thinks it does), and you can always tell when he is lying...his mouth is moving!
ReplyDeleteHeard Rush Limbaugh report that the elite Navy Seals make 54,000 a year...I think that would be plenty for all of our elitist lawmakers, dont you?
Stilt - thx for reinforcing that link. Awesome, if true.
ReplyDeletePryorguy:
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to pay our Senators/Representatives what they are making now if they would just stay in their districts and leave the rest of us the hell alone. They are dangerous when they congregate in D.C.
Got that right!
ReplyDeleteChuck's link to socyberty.com and the White House insider article is indeed a MUST read. We won't have it verified anytime soon, but it seems plausible. Jarret's immediate future may shed some light. I'm disgusted to say so, but it seems somehow comforting, even as a raging conservative, that Bill Daley's REALLY the one in charge. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThat link seems so plausible. If it's a fake, it's a masterful piece of work. It just feels so right. Please be true, please be true. And if any of it IS true, it will surely leak, but not necessarily right away. I think just about all the advocates for "getting" Osama were putting the U.S. before their egos and personal agendas. God I wish I had been a fly on the wall to know for sure.
ReplyDelete@Doktor Paulie- I've also thought that our Special Ops guys would be pretty dim if they'd just leave the enemies' guns on the floor instead of immediately grabbing them. Especially since they weren't killing everyone onsite, and left most unharmed (and unarmed).
ReplyDelete@Earl- As I said, I can't vouch for the authenticity of that link at all...but it rings true and fits what we DO know about Obama better than the narrative coming out of Washington. And it explains why the little schmuck was sitting there in his golf clothes looking like he was about to have his first solid bowel movement.
I have to admit that it’s justice that OBL is dead. Obama did the right thing. (I can’t believe I even typed those words) I did agree with how he handled the Somali pirate incident, too. (However, at the time I was somewhat shocked & amazed that he took the correct action).
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing that Obama had all these meetings regarding OBL with Natl Sec, etc. My very first thought was, could I have been wrong about him? Maybe he does actually work, cares about this country & is involved in the nitty, gritty running of the country and decision making. Seems to me all he does is: give speeches that someone else wrote for him, party, appear on talk shows and at fundraisers & campaign.
But, now..this link – so very interesting, it seems to me that it could possibly be fairly accurate. It just seems so much more plausible & has that ring-of-truth to it. (To my ears anyway) Much more so than Obama actually working hard and being involved. And it also sounds like the action/non-action in Libya, too. But, I wonder.... does Valerie Jarrett really have that much pull over our President? Geez, does the man have a set? (No, not golf clubs – we all know he’s got plenty of those!) I mean really, yes, rely on the opinions of others around you to help in the decision making process, but, for the love of God, you are the President of the most powerful country in the world; make an f’ing decision.
I liked almost all of the speech he gave Sunday night, sounds like it was written by a real patriot.
One of the points in the link was about the mission failing; my take: if the mission failed, we would have never heard anything about it. It would have been glazed over as a rogue helicopter in the wrong air space, blah, blah, blah.
@SC- I agree with everything you wrote, but think that if the mission had gone south that Leon Panetta's head would have gone on a pike, while Obama claimed that he had perhaps delegated authority unwisely.
