The Shirt Hits The Fans

To help raise money for his billion-dollar reelection campaign, Barack Obama has just started selling t-shirts and coffee mugs with pictures of his own grinning mug, a copy of his longform birth certificate, and the words "Made in the USA."

The president, who had
previously said that showing his birth certificate amounted to "silliness" that he didn't have time for, apparently feels that the creation and sale of t-shirts, mugs, and other tchotchkes has a more appropriate level of gravitas.

While Mr. Obama has never before involved himself with actual capitalism,
Hope n' Change believes that he will find the experience of making a profit so stimulating that he'll be adding additional items to his inventory soon.

In fact, factories are already said to be working on the
Osama Death Photo "Hole in One!" golf shirt, the "Stanley's Cups" pin-up calendar featuring saucy nude pictures of the president's mother (yes, the pictures are on the Internet, and no, we're not giving you a link), and the "Prettiest Sounds on Earth" CD featuring the president's favorite Islamic calls to prayer ("order now and get Death to Israel Chants at no additional cost!")

Presumably, all of these items can also be found in the Whitehouse Gift Shop, along with the bobblehead Joe Biden. Which isn't an
item...he just likes to hang around in there.

"We’re not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted
by sideshows and carnival barkers." - Barack H. Obama

  1. Maybe we will get lucky and Obama foray into capitalism will stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit that resides inside every true American. Causing Mr Obama to throw aside his left-wing Socialist agenda and begin to do what is right for this great country of ours: Stop attacking corporate America, begin utilizing our natural energy reserves, Stop spending money wastefully, Repeal Obamacare, and Fire his Socialist/Communist/Progressive Czars.

OK, OK I know it is just a dream, but this does show that Obama has absolutely NO respect for the American public. Since he has finally wasted time on producing his birth certificate....he now shoves it in everyones face.

Obama is not afraid of capitalism as long as the "right" people (mostly leftists) profit from it. Remember, he can't get all his campaign contributions from Muslim countries...or can he?
Dave: We can look forward to shoving two things in Obama's face: A pink slip and an eviction notice.

  3. Ah yes, t-shirts made with Egyptian cotton, assembled in Pakistan, and printed in Indonesia, warehoused in China before being shipped here on Korean ships and off loaded by Mexican stevedores before finally coming across the border at Ciudad Juarez. For America!

  4. @Jim: You know that is a line of inquiry that should be looked into....is Obama actually using a company that manufactures his campaign products here in the USA. And if not there is one more piece of ammunition to attack his campaign with.....unemployment is so high and he can't even use Americans to make his capaign crap.

  5. People tend to think of "capitalism" only as a social-economic system, whereas I tend to think of it as a law of human-interactive behavior. Think if it like the law of gravity; no matter what other laws of physics you'd like to argue about, it's still always there.

For example, "capitalism" flourishes everywhere, even under the most communistic regimes. (think "black market") In fact, the more repressive the political[social-economic order, the more "pure" capitalistic behavior becomes.

So it's little surprise that the most "progressive" or "liberal" amongst us exploit capitalism to it's fullest potential. It's always been there, it always will be. The only question is if the political establishment is going to allow it to benefit people to its greatest potential.

Good observation and I agree with Dave that this bears a good, hard look.

  7. He continues to take his narcissism to new, never before seen heights.

My Dad once opined to me that he thought Obama was a Muslim. I explained that, in my opinion, Obama is too busy worshipping himself and he has no time for any other deity, let alone the false one of Islam.

Suggestion: carry a laundry marker with you, and if you see one of these mugs or t-shirts, add a question mark after the “Made in the USA” and write “forged” across the Birth Certificate. Just for fun! I don’t expect to see many of these pieces of crap, except at Obama rallies perhaps, and I neither go to those nor watch them!

@John the Econ – so very true!

  8. John the Econ is correct. Capitalism is pehaps the second oldest system in the world. Imagine thousands of years ago a farmer having a bountiful harvest. Too much for his own family. He sets up a blanket in the village square and offers the surplus for sale or trade. Others start to do the same. Next thing you know there is competition for who has the best, tastiest produce. Voila! Capitalism is born!
And I called it the second oldest because far be it for me to impune the oldest profession! (I speak of king husseins, of course)

  9. @John yes capitalism is one of the oldest forms of human interaction. And yes the left doesn't have a problem with capitalism as long as only the select few that they like should benefit from it. You never hear the left-wing Media slamming George Soros. that's what angers me the most about the left is how only some people should benefit from businesses and capitalism....their blatant elitism and favortism....how much of an uproar in congress and the judicial system was there when it was released that GE paid $0 in taxes this year? Could you imagine the uproar if it was an Oil Company?

  10. @Readers- Although it didn't fit into the commentary today, this seems like a good place to mention that Obama, unsurprisingly, is exercising a perverse form of capitalism. His merchandise isn't available for straight-up purchase: you only get it in return for a "donation" of a specified amount.

But it doesn't end there! Because simply buying something would be too simple, Obama's fundraising website also requires you to state your occupation, your employer, and sign a "legal compliance" statement which specifies (among many, many other things) that you're not a foreign agent, nor an unlawfully admitted permanent resident of the United States.

So ironically, illegal aliens are welcome to taxpayer-funded services... but can't have one of Obama's t-shirts.

  11. I've always thought that these politicians stooping to being on Oprah and other talk shows (including when Palin did it) was so immature and unprofessional...but this is even worse!

  12. Any chance we'll we see unions rioting (picketing) the gift shop because the merchandise lacks the union label and uses sweatshop labor?

  13. someone sent me those nude photos a while back...beleive me, youre not missing anything ;-)

  14. @Stilt--Seems kinda perverse that an Illegal alien (that Obummer wants to allow to stay) can't purchase his merchandise...but it must have to do with campaign finance rules not any moral issue for him.

@Suzy--Not only the talk shows, but he is the first sitting president I've ever seen on a holiday card....talk about juvenile!!!

Lets get the government back in the hands of fiscally responsible adults!!! Vote for your local kindergarten student!!!!!

Hey! How about BO whoopee cushions? BO fly swatters? A fish that looks like BO and hangs on your wall and sings "I Wanna talk about Me?" How about bottles of Rogaine with Joe's picture on them? Bottles of BO Beer? A Thighmaster with Michelle's picture? BO vacuum cleaners (slogan - We Really Suck!)?
