We Return To Our Program, Already In Progress
Readers- For more than 24 hours, the entire nationwide Blogger/Blogspot service has been broken, busted, hosed, FUBAR, and generally as screwed up and dysfunctional as Washington DC.
Which probably is completely unrelated to the Obama administration's announcement yesterday of their new "cyber policies" to control the Internet and content of the kind you're reading right now. And you should certainly feel confident that the systemic breakdown of Blogger had nothing to do with adding any new "personal monitoring" algorithms to the software. Gulp.
Anyway, for the past day I've been pulling my hair out (not that I've got any to spare) trying to post ANYTHING - a cartoon, a commentary, a word of explanation, or a message for "help" in a bottle. But nooOOooo. And currently, it looks like yesterday's cartoon and comments have disappeared. Will they be back, or are they being harshly interrogated at Guantanamo? It's too soon to know, and Obama refuses to share the photographic proof he claims to have.
Anyway, I just want readers to know that the black helicopters didn't come for me, I didn't walk away from the job, nor did George Soros offer me enough money to shut up although he should certainly keep trying. And assuming that Blogger can keep from crashing, I'll have a brand NEW cartoon up tomorrow instead of something from the vault.
So thank you for your patience and understanding, and please know - in all seriousness - that barring a true emergency I will always be here for you...because it genuinely means so much that you're all here for me. -Stilt

Are you getting the Change you'd Hoped for? Then share your opinion right here!
NEW POLICY: Owing to repeated abuse of our open posting policy, all comments will now be held in queue for moderation. Cleared comments will be posted ASAP, though there may be a delay of several hours (sorry!) Note that contrary opinions remain welcome, but trolling and general ass-wipery will not make the cutoff.
By posting, you accept all conditions of the Terms of Use shown at the bottom of the Home Page.
Glad you're back and that my theory of hosting problems proved correct!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back! I am a huge fan, and read every day including re-runs. Many thanks for the hard work you put in to this endeavor.

ReplyDelete@Chuck- It was SOOO frustrating not to be able to explain until now.
ReplyDelete@Jeb- Thanks for your nice comments! I'll fess up that most days it IS hard work...and even the new "rerun" policies on weekends takes effort because I update the commentary and then enjoy participating in the conversations in the comments section.
@Pookie18- Thanks for the link to the backup, but I had one locally and have (I think, gulp...) managed to get it re-posted...though so far without the comments.
It's all my fault because of the bend allowance formula comment from yesterday, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy brilliant comments from yesterday are gone! Whatever did I say? Death to "the cloud"! Long live "the cloud!"...
ReplyDelete@Robert- too much truth for the Internet to handle. You broke it.
ReplyDelete@John the Econ- Theoretically the comments will be restored by Blogger. If not, I may have some tucked away elsewhere and I could try to repost them...but no guarantees.
Sounds like another major power grab. By not defining exactly what is critical infrastructure it leave the President and Homeland Security the power to determine that any internet company is critical. Seems like Mr Commander in Mischief read way too much 1984 growing up and thinks that big Brother was the Hero of the story.
ReplyDeleteA marxist-thinking guy who did not grow up in the USA, absorbed much far-left teaching in the education process, was friendly with subversive types, sat in a black congregation advocating social justice, wants to redistribute the wealth of this great nation, keep handing out more and more to those who contribute nothing, radically change the American way of life, honors a questionable 'poet' in the White House for a session....nahhh, can't imagine him wanting something like a 'kill switch' for the internet in case things go south for him sometime in the future!
ReplyDeleteSo what's plan B in case this happens close to an election? I'd hate to depend on the old media for anything like the truth. I'm too old to learn how to twitter and all that stuff. But if I need to I'll certainly try.
ReplyDeleteConcerning the welcoming by the Obamas of the rapper "poet" Common...black columnist E.W. Jackson, Sr. wrote in the American Thinker...
ReplyDeleteIt is not incompetence that caused the First Couple to choose National Law Enforcement Memorial Week to highlight a rapper who rhymes in support of cop-killers. On some level, Mr. Obama shares Common's antipathy for the police. That was made quite clear by the president's rush to judgment against the police officer in the Cambridge incident involving his friend Henry Louis Gates.
Frankly, what we have on our hands is a leadership crisis. This president's far-left views are restrained only by the limits of political reality. It is frightening to contemplate what he would do with another four years in office unfettered by the need to get reelected.
The view of the left is that we are a racist, sexist, homophobic, fundamentally unjust nation with a capitalist system that exploits our citizens and the world. The vision of most Americans is that we are a fundamentally just, decent, and generous nation with opportunity for all. That is clearly not the vision of Common, and the evidence strongly suggests that it is not the vision of his hosts, Barack and Michelle Obama.
We need leadership that is going to bring us together around the inspired vision of "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The first Tuesday in November 2012 offers the opportunity to end our leadership crisis. The American people should take advantage of it.
Oh, you're back. Thank god. With Zack MIA and Dave updating infrequently, where am I supposed to go for my conservative web cartoon fix if you disappear!?

AAAARGH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
@Earl- I don't really have a "Plan B" in case of future outages, but I may start thinking about one.
ReplyDeleteIn case of emergency, by all means grab a copy of the Wall Street Journal for honest news and smart commentary.
@Pryorguy- That's quite an eloquent summation of our current situation. Well done - and I agree with all of it!
@James- I swap emails with both Zack and Dave on a semi-regular basis, and am glad to report that they're doing fine, but both have had to cut back on posting somewhat because they've been busy with their day jobs (I hate to break it to you, but there's not really Big Money in doing conservative cartoon blogs). I continue to post daily because I'm self-employed, and apparently have obsessive-compulsive conservative cartooning syndrome and can't help myself.
Regarding the "Learn Our History" link, I'll have to take a closer look before I can either endorse it or start screaming. I like the idea but I'm not sure I'm sold on the "look" of it.
Which is pretty bold talk coming from a guy who uses clip-art, right? (grin)
They may not have gotten you yet, but it's only a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteThey took down Ann Althouse's blog (maybe they're going in alphabetical order?).
You mean our leaders in DC would do such things? Well, of course except of course since they are a bunch of smegma sucking commie loving godda>>> >>>>>> BREAK CODE ^^SEQUENCE INTERRUPTED <<<<<<<<<<< IP LOG TRACE >>> DHS TRACE BEGIN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> INSERT TEXT MESSAGE AS FOLLOWS:
ReplyDeleteswell human beings who only look out for our best interests. We are so fortunate to have them. We should all vote for Obama in 2012 and send extra donations to the DNC right away.
@Pi Guy- It's all about camouflage; they think "Hope n' Change" is on their side.
ReplyDelete@Holden McGroin- That's the sort of positive attitude we need to hear more of! (Gulp...)
