Towers? What Towers?

We are only a few days away from the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. An event so huge and horrorific that it is nearly inconceivable that anyone could have forgotten the nightmarish visions, the passions, the lessons learned, or the injury to the heart of our nation.

Unless they wanted to.

Or unless they're being lead to think of those attacks in a different way.

Which is why Hope n' Change finds it so appalling that the Whitehouse has just issued talking points and guidelines to make sure that government officials all stick to the narrative that Barack Obama wants for the anniversary of 9/11.

Did you think the events of 9/11 were an attack on America? Don't be foolish; it was equally about "New York or Nairobi, Bali or Belfast, Mumbai or Manila, or Lahore or London." In other words, it wasn't about terror...it was about alliteration.

And as 9/11 approaches, are you filled with anger towards Al-Qaeda? Geez, let it go already - after all, the Whitehouse assures us "Al Qaeda and its adherents have become increasingly irrelevant."

Moreover, Americans should avoid making a big deal out of 9/11 because we've subsequently annoyed the civilized (ie, Muslim) world with our policies "on detention, on interrogation, and the decision to invade Iraq." Damn, maybe 9/11 was just our chickens coming home to roost, right Barry Hussein?

In all seriousness...in grave seriousness...this Whitehouse should not be telling any of us how to think or feel about the attacks of 9/11.

The exploding jets, the falling towers, the smoke and flames billowing from the Pentagon, the innocents leaping to their deaths, and the scores of lost heroes were not part of a Hollywood movie.

Which is why it is an obscenity of the most despicable kind for Barack Obama's Whitehouse to create a script to reinvent those events in a way more to their liking... and political benefit.

  2. OK this is sickening....according to the New York Times "a senior counterterrorism official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to avoid disciplinary measures from the White House." This administration is getting more and more controlling and now senior members are actually afraid of the administration. And what is with them issuing guidelines to begin with....last time I looked this was still America and the Constitution still ruled the land granting the right of Free Speech to it's citizens and whether Obama likes it or not senior officials are still citizens.

  3. I see now. Those three thousand people did not die cruel and terrible deaths at the hands of stinking, Islamo-fascist murderers. They just "went away". His weasel words trivialize America's loss. He is worse than an obscenity, Stilton. He is a blasphemy.

  4. Back in 2001 my girlfriend at the time told me they said on the news that in 10 years America would forget about September 11. I didn't believe her at the time. But now 10 years have passed and the main stream media, even in New York City were the vast majority of deaths occurred, is harshly criticizing government policies intended to protect them from more death and destruction. She was right, I was wrong... so very wrong.

  5. @anon -- America hasn't forgotten! The Marxist regime that is currently occupying the White House just wishes we all had!!!

  6. From another website on this subject...
"Of course it was an attack on us. We are the United States of America; the last, best hope for freedom in the world. Watch all the other supposedly free nations kowtow to Muslim extremists and beg to be killed last. Let them cower and wet themselves. We don’t beg, we dare you to come get some. We don’t bow, we tell you to bring it. We are not belligerent but we are ballsy. We don’t bully cause it’s not our nature. We know we’re the toughest kid on the block and we are happy to kick the sh!t out of the bullies who push our friends around. Right now we have a muzzie-loving, commie-prick, socialist, scum-sucking, coke-snorting, effeminate POS telling us we are no better than Europe. Screw you, Turd-boy! Not one real American buys that crap and there are still millions of us. We are pissed and we vote and you can look forward to moving your worthless, spotty ass out of our house one year from this January. Take my word for it, you will not be missed."
I give this two paws up, a bark and a tail wag.

  7. +1 to what Brewski barked!

  8. Agree totally with @Brewski. Reminds me of the dog I saw this morning as I was driving into work. It was peeing on a fire ant mound. I nearly drove off the road, laughing. For those of you who don't know, fire ants are evil little devils, also known as formens invictus, who react violently to any perceived intrusion on their nest. They swarm and bite and sting and just will not quit until they are dead. The ruin lawns with their mounds and bite kids playing in the yard, and make a general foul, despicable nuisance of themselves. So we here in fire ant country (Houston) hates 'em. Therefore, seeing a dog giving a fire ant mound the proper treatment this a.m. was just delightful, and a fitting analogy for what is going to happen to that entire nest of letist D.C. fire ants in 2012. Today's score: Faithful Canines 2, Fire Ants 0.

  9. So, on one had we are to regard Obama as a hero for brutally dispatching OBL to his virgins, but we are to consider Al Qaeda irrelevant?

I'm not to worried about it all. The good news that we all know by now is that the better part of America has long since learned to disregard the scripts that come out of this White House.

  10. @AHD,

You could say they just "went away," or you could say it was simply the "result of a kinetic action which arose naturally after incidental contact between airplanes and buildings." Maybe that will make the talking points for next year...

  11. @Readers- We're clearly all on the same page here. And I've got to say that the post quoted by My Dog Brewski (above) is a great summation of how I feel.

Last night, I watched the National Geographic's special "Bush's 9/11," an interview in which the former President described exactly what happened that day, often in minute to minute detail. I then watched an older program, "Giuliani's 9/11" which focused on Rudy's actions and feelings.

It was simultaneously inspiring and depressing to compare these leaders with the limp little dishrag of a man currently in the Whitehouse. While Bush and Rudy spoke about the need to make instant life and death decisions, my thoughts returned to candidate Obama who was asked what he would do if there were a terrorist-hijacked passenger jet hurtling towards Washington. Barack's answer? He would form a committee of advisors. (McCain, asked the same question, said without hesitation that he'd order the jet shot down).

More recently (8/11's cartoon if you'd like to look it up) I think of Barack Obama holding his annual Ramadan dinner and eulogizing the Muslim victims of 9/11...and no one else. He then went on to say that it is the Muslim Americans in uniform and in our intelligence agencies who keep America safe...and didn't mention any other group of people who might also be participating in that endeavor.

When the twin towers were still smoldering ruins, George Bush and Rudy Giuliani made it very clear that there was, and would be, no war on Islam. And no anti-Muslim backlash appeared, because Americans are better than that. Stronger than that.

But 10 years later, this dishonest self-important little stranger in the Whitehouse is still lecturing us, because he does not believe in the goodness of Americans or America.

    And he never will.

  12. Its sickening that people have forgotten so much...about how Bush was actually a decent leader (despite his faults) and that he cared about people...and how terrible 9/11 was for us, and how it was a personal TERRORIST attack on our soil.

And I just cleaned my carpets. Sigh.

  14. +10,000 to Brewski. That's one wise dog.

Disgusting the WH dares to issue 'guidelines' , and those guidelines come straight from the 'Stealth Jihad' playbook of CAIR and our other Muslim-infiltrator enemies within. Their successful infiltration of the WH can be seen not just in BHO himself and these 'guidelines' but in the personnel at State, DHS, FBI etc.

Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch, Greenfield's 'Sultan Knish' daily essays, Pam Gellar, Pat Condell's brilliant YouTube vids, all great sources.

  15. Stilt, all you forgot was to post a picture of the burning towers. It's so easy to forget what happened, how horrific it was and the anger and pain we all felt that day when those images have been all but banned. Obama and his ilk would sooner show us bin Laden's death photo that have us be reminded of what that day really was. As horrific as those images are, they happened, they are part of our history. Ignoring those images and videos is just another way to rewrite history and paint America as the bad guy in the end.

  16. I think we will all agree, no more Ken-L-Ration for My Dog Brewski! nothing but the finest steaks for you from now on, since you summed up so well what we all feel about the towel-head wanna-be that fancies himself our leader.

I am sooooo looking forward to the very day that he has to move his sorry, anti-American ass out of OUR White House along with that bag that only became proud of her country three years ago. I also think it would be poetic justice if one Michelle was moving in while the other was moving out. I sort of feel sorry for the next occupant, though. It will take them weeks to get the place to stop smelling like falafel farts.

On another subject, has anyone noticed that BO announced a joint session of Congress so he can roll out the latest socialist bullshit to "create" jobs? He sent out memos and such stating the the joint session will be on September 7; coincidently the SAME day as the next Republican debates. The law requires the President to have permission from the Speaker of the House to call a joint session. I think it would be funny as HELL if Boehner told BO to stick it.

  17. Never Forget

This may have been written in reference to the holocaust, but I find it very applicable to 911 as well. "General Eisenhower understood that many people would be unable to comprehend the full scope of this horror. He also understood that any human deeds that were so utterly evil might eventually be challenged or even denied as being literally unbelievable. For these reasons he ordered that all the civilian news media and military combat camera units be required to visit the camps and record their observations in print, pictures and film. As he explained to General Marshall, 'I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in a position to give first-hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations merely to 'propaganda'."

Images follow the names of the victims.

  18. @Suzy- Ten years ago, I would never have believed that people could forget so much, or "spin" it so hard.

@Jim Hlavac- I thought of your brother-in-law as I watched the firefighters rushing into those burning towers last night. Perhaps Obama would like to personally tell your brother-in-law's children that this was "not about us."

@Andrew- "Stealth Jihad" is what it too frequently feels like. It's one thing to remind us to be tolerant of others...it's quite another to celebrate only that group while belittling and/or hate-mongering against traditional American values.

@Flyfishnevada- I promise that I didn't forget to post any pictures. Those will be coming soon enough, I promise. I considered it, but today was about me expressing my anger about the politics of Obama's talking points. I didn't feel worthy of using those pictures to bolster my arguments. But on 9/11, I don't think anything except such pictures will be appropriate.

@Colby- Regarding Obama's upcoming (upchucking?) jobs speech, I don't know why it needs to be delivered before a joint session of congress. After all, every other policy decision he's made, or law he's passed, has been done unilaterally with no involvement from the GOP (at least until they took the House).

@Anonymous (above)- Thanks for the links. It is critically important that we never forget, and sometimes that's going to require ripping our wounds open again.

  20. Stilton:
I expect the Obama speech to be the same sack-o-crap he's been peddling since he slithered into the White House. But appearing before a joint session of Congress gives it artificial gravitas. God knows, he needs any kind of gravitas, real or fake, he can get right now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. An Obama joint session speech about jobs, will be nothing more than political grandstanding at the expense of the Republicans who will look mean while Obama pulls a Clinton and tosses money at every Democratic voting constituency. This is not a State of the Union speech which is required by the Constitution, nor is it a time of grave national security unless we hear Obama exhorting union thugs and the poor to go to war with the evil rich. I agree with Colby. Boehner needs to just say no, Hell no. On another track. Don't compare what happened on 9-11 with what happened in Mumbai. Both cases involved radicalized Islamists. But in the case of the Indian security forces, you can see them on tape hiding from the terrorists. New York's finest wouldn't let that happen. I'd like to rant more, but everyone today has ranted with superb clarity.

  22. @Flyfishnevada- thanks for the vote of confidence, it's appreciated!

@Angry Hoosier Dad- This time, I hope LOTS of courageous politicians will be willing to stand and shout "You Lie!" whenever necessary. It's long overdue.

@Earl- Good points. Obama wants to use our elected officials as theatrical props, just like his flying buses, and the flag-draped coffins which he only visits/salutes if he's brought his photographer (over the families' objections). And you're right that the security forces in Mumbai ran for their lives...while New York's finest ran INTO the carnage to save lives. Trying to compare the two is just one more instance of Obama spitting on our fallen heroes. The little rat bastard.

  24. Have to share this with you...
On the way in to work this morning I was listening to Coast to Coast AM (sometimes entertaining - always goofy) and some futurist was commenting on how he knew the liberals would be disappointed in Obama when they found out he was much more Reagan than Feingold. I'm only glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee at the moment. It woulda been a mess.
But this is the problem with the far left. Anything that doesn't comport to their ideal must be far right. I don't think they can even see a moderate left or middle ground on anything. Even liberal Republicans are far right to them.
The question becomes, are we conservatives like that as well? It's a question worth asking of ourselves if we don't wish to become the thing we despise.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @sablegsd- "Hate" is a word that should be parcelled out rarely and carefully. That being said, I hate Obama's policies, principles, and worldview down to the soles of my shoes.

@Angry Hoosier Dad- That is a question worth asking. These days it seems like a Grand Canyon-sized abyss exists between the two main political ideologies in this country. And as someone recently pointed out, nobody gets annoyed anymore - they move straight to outraged. I'm probably guilty of it myself from time to time, yet I honestly make the effort to weigh information as it comes in. And even small affronts can have a "straw that broke the camel's back" cumulative effect.

I've opined on these pages before that "compromise" is no virtue in and of itself, nor does the "right" answer always come from splitting the difference between two factions.

If the rabid Lefties are turning against Obama because he's not ideologically pure enough for them, then more power to them. But here on the Right, we dare not set our standards so rigidly that we won't consider a man or woman with great qualifications...but also some views we don't agree with. For me, this would apply to any and all of the candidates running for the presidential nomination currently. I don't agree 100% with any of them, but I'd vote for any of them over Obama. Granted, that's not raising the bar very high...

Additionally, when it comes to balancing the budget I'm not without sympathy to the idea of cutting costs and raising revenues. But those two elements need to both be in place, and would require an honest effort from both parties to work together instead of playing shell games. And after years of lies, words aren't enough to convince me of the other side's sincerity. We need to see substantive actions that show real cooperation is on the table.

That's something that this president could do, but hasn't to date. And, I predict, never will.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Stilton:
I think the reason the Tea Party Republicans in the House so vehemently oppose "revenue enhancement" is because they know too well that any increase in revenues is countered by twofold or more increase in spending. They are in the middle of the swamp and they know how it works. They want no part of it. Neither should we. Show me the cuts Democrats...real, substantive and immediate, or pound sand.

  28. Can you believe he was scheduled to do his 'jobs solution' speech opposite the GOP debate? Does he actually have a staff paying attention? So, now...it will be opposite NFL opening night, so the 2 or 3 people who would have watched, well, THEY won't even be there for him!!! I love it!

Honestly, everyone on this page today is sick to the gills of all this nonsense...2 or 3 years is PLENTY of time to see a skunk's true stripes, and he really IS just as we suspected he was back during the last prez campaign, even more so, and I, too cannot wait for this administration to be history!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Brewksi nailed it – exactly right!

@ Stilton, so true, annoyed just doesn’t cut it anymore. I literally scream at my radio & TV on a regular basis.

This whole jobs thing from Obama…NOW....are you kidding? The last 2 years + with over 9% unemployment and he’s giving another speech……blah, blah, blah. Mr. President, we don’t need another one of your campaign speeches, we need leadership, action, and most of all we need a ton of private sector jobs!

    ReplyDelete
  30. @pryorguy- The Bamster thought he was being very clever trying to derail the Republican debate; now he's not only had to move his speech to the next day, he's also pushing it UP an hour to avoid pissing off football fans. Which also means that his speech will air at 4 pm on the West Coast, when no one will be watching TV. Sweet.

@SC- Obama doesn't need to create any jobs, he just needs to stop impeding private job creation. But he won't.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I always thought it was impossible to actually get angry enough that you can't speak.

Then I heard about Obama's latest brainchild.

I may have been exaggerating about not being able to speak though, swear words still count as words, right?
