Now It's Getting In Tents
Not too long ago, our nation's top Democrats were praising Occupy Wall Street as if they'd hung the moon instead of just threatening to hang the Evil Rich.
“God bless them for their spontaneity,” Nancy Pelosi exclaimed, “It’s independent people coming together, it’s young, it’s spontaneous, it’s focused and it’s going to be effective!”
Not willing to be outdone, Barack Obama declared that the protesters "express the frustrations the American people feel" and told members of OWS "you are the reason I ran for office."
All of which makes it sound like these upstanding, spontaneous, America-representing young patriots should get front row seats at the Democratic national convention in Charlotte next year. But noooOOoooo.
The Democrats have now realized that there are "bad optics" from having Barack Obama's anti-capitalist message shouted out by scraggly, mask-wearing, drug-dealing, child molesting, lice-infested anarchists instead of having it delivered on a massive stage with greek columns and patriotic bunting by a "clean and articulate" president with a sharp crease in his trousers.
Which is why Charlotte has proposed an ordinance declaring that occupying tents in their downtown area would be an illegal "public nuisance." Just to put the icing on the cake, they're also banning "noxious substances," which should pretty much eliminate even those protesters who don't own a puptent.
Considering the love that the Democrats claimed to have for OWS until now, you'd think they'd be making a loud outcry to make sure that this "voice of the people" can be heard loud and clear as we think about who'll be running the country for the next four years.
Or just maybe, now that the American people have seen the filthy, angry, and idiotic results of what "community organizers" actually do, the Democrats would rather not offer up any reminders that this is Barack Obama's past...and our potential future.

Remember, remember, the month of November, when we get to vote the bum out.
I know of no reason why this man and his treason shouldn't be left to rot
Meanwhile I sit in my living room waiting for one of two things to happen:
A: The media will highlight the hypocrisy of this regime having flirted openly with the OWS crowd and then left them standing alone at the punch bowl.
B: Jessica Alba will dance naked on my coffee table.
Now I'm not saying that "B" is more likely to happen, but I'm keeping my coffee table cleared...just in case.
PS - if "B" does happen, I have no idea how I'm going to explain this to Angry Hoosier Mom.
@AHD: Mmmm. I heard Nancy Pelosi was coming to your house ti dance. Beware. Beware...
Anyway, this is golden; however, I expect that IF it comes down to negative publicity, it will be laid at the feet of Charlotte (or George Bush...). This is simply how they operate - nothing that reflects negatively on them (in their eyes) can be theirs to own.
Me? I find it humorous. And somewhat disgusting, but that is probably just the revulsion I normally feel at the word "democrat". (Note to the Republicans: it is only slightly more than the revulsion I feel at the mention of that party, as well...)
Still, maybe some will stage an OWS protest in Charlotte, just to force the microscope on who was supposed to be giving them their blessing. I hope so. Anything that disrupts and magnifies their hypocrisy is good for all to see.
This is hardly a surprise. After all, remember that 4 years ago in anticipation of the Democrats coming to town, the city of Denver outlawed the carrying of urine and feces: http://m.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/Aug/04/protesters-plan-be-there-when-council-considers-ur/
Such is the problem when relying upon "useful idiots" as a front to your agenda. By definition, they frequently act like idiots when you least need them to.
@Angry Hoosier, although I have little expectation of Jessica Alba showing up, much less dancing on your coffee table naked or otherwise, I'd have even less expectation of the media backing off on their canonization of the Obamavillians. And quite frankly, I really don't want them to. OWS is the gift that just keeps on giving. The more the Democrats and media lionize them, the bigger embarrassment they will be when their own $@#% hits the fan come convention time. Quite frankly, I think we should be encouraging them. Remember, without the hippies in '68, there would have been no emergence of Ronald Reagan.
@Randy S- Nice!
@Angry Hoosier Dad- "B" is far more likely to occur than "A." And if it does, you can tell Angry Hoosier Mom that it's because Obama created the job for Ms. Alba as part of his national "stimulus package."
@Emmentaler- I sure wish I'd had more coffee before you put the image of Nancy Pelosi doing a table dance in my mind (Gollum voice: "It burns! It burns!")
And you're right, if things go sour at the convention the blame will go to Charlotte - which is exactly the goal of all this.
@Anonymous (two above)- Believe me, I hope that OWS shows up in force to remind people that there's almost no difference between what they're saying and what Barry is saying.
@John the Econ- These kinds of laws are an interesting way to circumvent the freedom of speech that Democrats claim to love. I've been trying to think of what sort of ordinance they could pass to keep out the Tea Partiers, and all I could come up with is declaring it against the law to clean the litter from a public space unless you're on the government payroll. The obsessively tidy and civic-minded Tea Partiers would soon be getting pepper-sprayed.
And you're right that OWS has become an embarrassment for the Left...which is why I hope they don't go away.
@Stilton, As your last cartoon pointed out, the left now considers Tea Party gatherers as "terroristic" whereas Islamic infiltrators within our own military who successfully kill or injure dozens of our service people on their own base are merely "disgruntled workers".
My only hope is that the GOP eventually pics a candidate who has the balls to call out our current President on this insanity, as well as the irrationality of the OWS crowd.
If there is any actual 'substance' to modern liberal ideology, then it's pretty clear to me that the convention itself should be banned from Charlotte under the rules presented. No need to consult with the EPA, as most reasonable folks have already determined that any speeches coming out of that democratic rat hole will clearly be noxious. And if the golfer in chief is going to be present to hawk up a few words, then for sure bump the threat level to Obnoxious and break out the hazmat gear.
I'm currently organizing a protest against the OWS crowd. We will be blocking their access to the access of the Democratic convention, thereby showing.... something.... Is that a double negative? Where am I again? GO OBAMA!!!
Just heard on the news: The OWS zombies are going to try to shut down our nation's ports "hoping to disrupt trade and, symbolically at least, show that they can reduce corporate profits.".
Oh, that's brilliant. Let's create more unemployment! Of course, this isn't going to go over well with the longshoremen who may feign political solidarity, but will not be happy with the hit they will be personally taking in their paychecks. And will the OWS folk ever see the irony that that they themselves, as the non-productives and "community organizers" just by their existing "reduce corporate profits" for us all?
I heard that if they're successful in their efforts it will cost the ports and companies over 1 billion for the day. Why haven't these people been declared domestic terrorists? Unreal. Just Unreal.
@John the Econ- Putting all other arguments aside, I think "a candidate with balls" is what I most want to see in the upcoming election. I want Barack Obama and his radical anti-Americanism to be demolished in debates.
@Mike Porter- I like your suggestions!
@Anonymous (three above)- Actually, I could happily be part of a protest shouting "GO OBAMA!" Specifically, I'd be shouting "Go Obama! Far away and right now!"
@John the Econ (again)- Yeah, the country will be soooooo much better off when corporations aren't profitable anymore. Sheesh.
@Bacon- That's exactly my thought: if these people are deliberately doing real economic damage to the country, why isn't it domestic terror? And aren't there some laws which give special protection to important ports and modes of transportation because they're in the nation's vital interest? Maybe Eric Holder should look into this when he gets some time off from shipping guns to the Mexican drug cartels.
I'm tempted to charter a bus (or a dumptruck) to Charlotte and fill it with OWS types (bribe them with pizza or something), supply them with appropriate signage materials and tell them how they need to fight against The Man, The Machine, whose convention is going on right now. Hey, it's worked for ACORN, why not for us?

Yeah, that's gonna end well.
I guess no one told the OWS crowd that the dockworkers aren't gonna suffer silently through their bullcrap like the idiots in NYC etc, did.
I can just picture a throng of spaghetti-limbed skinny jean wearing Apple aficionados going up against a bunch of pissed off teamsters.
@Grizzly, just show up with a stack of iTunes gift cards.
Badlarry - yeah, that'd be better than WWE!
From what I've seen, the union longshoremen are pissing off the union Teamsters with their port-closing scheme. This will not end well for taxpayers or consumers. And we all know who ultimately pays for those union jobs...
