Spring "Forward"...Then Fall Back.

After months of heavy thinking and the expenditure of countless campaign dollars, Barack Obama's reelection team has finally settled on a slogan which embodies the president's leadership and crystallizes the myriad hopes and dreams of a desperate and weary American public.

And that slogan is: "Forward."

That's it. Not even an
exclamation point (not that one is deserved). Just one word...and one which is even less meaningful than 2008's demonstrably empty "Hope" and "Change" or even the grandly self-congratulatory "We are the ones we've been waiting for."

Still,
Hope n' Change can understand the appeal of the word "Forward" to Obama's campaign team. Because it's the opposite of "Rewind" - a word which would invite voters to actually review Barack Obama's disastrous, debt-ridden, America-diminishing first term. And that's certainly no way to win reelection.

Moreover, "Forward" has a long history of being a rallying cry for certain political movements. Specifically, Marxism and socialism, which may come as a surprise to the Obama camp...or may not. And of course, "Forward, Forward" also enjoyed tremendous popularity as a Nazi marching song, so maybe it's just the ticket to motivate black voters to (in Obama's words) "take off your bedroom slippers and put on your marching shoes."

Frankly, the idiocy of choosing "Forward" as a campaign slogan is emblematic of the wretched decision making shown by this president in all areas, and the degree to which he and his cronies are out of touch with reality.

Because when America is
speeding towards an economic cliff, the last thing we want to hear from the guy driving the bus is "Forward!"

See, this way it makes sense...

  1. I wonder if this new slogan is a tip of the hat to Mao's "Great Leap Forward", or if it is just delicious, delicious irony?

He really wanted "To Infinity and Beyond" but there are some depths even Obama campaign managers won't plumb.

  3. @AHD - That, and they represent more of a "Mickey Mouse" outfit than a "Buzz Lightyear" one.

    Sing with me: "W-H I-T-E H-O U-S-E...."

  5. Dang it, I was reading about this "forward" yesterday and knew it was going to be today's cartoon. I already had my "Forward, off the cliff" remark ready to go. Too obvious I guess, like the rest of the Obama agenda...

  6. @Coon Tasty- I'm going with choice #1.

@Angry Hoosier Dad- Actually, they couldn't use "To Infinity And Beyond" for the campaign because they'd already used it as the official name for Obama's "millionaire tax" bill.

@Coon Tasty- I only wish the government was run with the efficiency of the actual Mickey Mouse operation!

@Pete(Detroit)- And anything they don't have the money for, they're billing to the taxpayers - including $8 billion to extend the life of Medicare Advantage to just past election day, so seniors won't find out that Obamacare essentially kills the popular program.

@John the Econ- By all means, keep thinking of "Forward" jokes. We have 6 months to use every one of them - and I certainly plan to.

    Ain't that the truth!

  8. @Stilton: I thought to infinity and beyond was the slogan for our national debt?!

Frankly, I think they should have stuck with Winning The Future, as he'd named his budget. After all, most of us look back at the 2008 election and its results, and have MANY WTF moments. Like WTF were you donkey pits thinking? WTF allows him to get away with that?

    Stuff like that...

Glad I didn't have anything in my mouth when I saw it.

  10. Stilton: turn that particular graphic out as an actual bumper sticker and I, for one, will buy several dozen. There are plenty of those (O)2012 bumper stickers in my immediate vicinity in serious need of an update. And chances are good that most of these hopeless twits will never notice the change.

Anonymous: perfectly appropriate... and I'm sure the Whitehouse has plenty of clearly marked exits, so let's send the bigO DOORWARD.

  11. Will Romney sieze the moment and call his campaign "Reverse?"

    Reverse gas prices
    Reverse unemployemnt
    Reverse Iran
    Reverse the damage
    Reverse FMEH

I like "FLOORWARD" and "DOORWARD" too!

    Stilton,
I, too would buy bumper stickers, but please make the font on the second line LARGE, lest we be mistaken for lemmings. How about a two sticker set, and we can buy extra of the second part to do some "updating" as Mike Porter suggested?

Then again, maybe the shelf life of this slogan will only be a week or two. This smells like another one of those "unforced errors" that Obama and crew are becoming known for.

    Stilton:
Sorry if I haven't seen this addressed before, but what will happen to this strip if Turdboy is tossed out on his sorry, socialist a$$ this November? Will you continue under a different theme? I'm not sure I could handle the withdrawal symptoms if you just end it. I gave up smoking and that was hell. Going cold turkey on Hope n' Change could be more than my frail constitution can bear.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Sam L- You just can't go wrong with a spit take. Works every time.

@Anonymous- "Floorward" is good! I just recently saw a picture of Obama doing pushups or something, and now I've got to track it down so I can add it to your slogan!

@Mike Porter- I really do need to look into how to make printable product available to people...not as a money-making venture (I'm sort of an idiot that way), but just because I'd like the catchy stuff to get out in the environment and ruffle feathers. (Rest assured, if I find a reasonably affordable way to do it, you guys will hear it first!)

@Colby- Sweet! I love the "Reverse" angle!

@alan markus- I wouldn't be surprised if the Obama camp has to "fall back" on "Forward" (per the title of today's cartoon) once people start pounding away on it - like they did with the quickly aborted "WTF - Winning The Future" effort. But I like to think of thousands of expensive bumperstickers and other tchotchkes being fed into a shredder and causing the Obama campaign to lose money. Whatever slogan he settles on, it will be mocked mercilessly.

@Gang of One- Nope, there won't be a name change. I've grown attached to "Hope n' Change". As Sarah Palin would say, it's workin' out fine for me. (As a slogan - not as an economy!)

@Cookie- Exactly. I want to throw this country into a hard reverse from the direction Obama has been taking us in.

@Alan Markus- And check out this story, which I find very believable, which suggests that the mission to take out Bin Laden was opposed by Obama, and that it was initiated without him by Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, David Gates, and others. It wasn't a "gutsy decision" as much as a successful coup.

@Angry Hoosier Dad- Good question, and one that I've been giving a lot of thought to lately. That being said, I don't have any solid answers about how the election results might affect "Hope n' Change." One thing is for sure, though, and that's the fact that if it's my pixyish sense of humor that you enjoy, there's no danger of going completely cold turkey - I have to write and create; it's not just what I do, it's who I am. So even if I'm not kicking Obama around (please, please, please) I'll continue to make mischief in some fashion. And of course, Johnny Optimism isn't going anywhere - I genuinely love that kid.

I see on the news this morning that not only is this the one-year anniversary of Bin Laden's last porno viewing, but also of W's 'mission accomplished' event the left is so fond of! Coincedence? Who knows. But the pandering prez once again did not disappoint those of us who keep an eye on his activities(ON OUR DIME!), by spiking the ol football a couple of times for that one and only positive thing to occur since he took office! Yeh, nobody but the o would have decided that taking out Bin Laden is an important thing to do! He's so smart, handsome, and above all...he's COOOOOL!!!

  20. Now THIS is truly gratifying:

    http://freebeacon.com/occupy-hope-and-change/

    From the article:
"[a] disillusioned demonstrator, who identified himself as a financial analyst, went on to scold Obama for capitulating to Wall Street bankers and global monetary interests.

“The guy freaks me out a little bit,” the man said. “I’m not going to lie. He’s pretty, and we all think we did something because of his color, and I don’t discount that, but for f—k’s sake, he scares the hell out of me.”

  21. I still wonder who it was who thought "WTF" was going to work as a slogan for duh Won. At least Gerald Ford had "WIN" for a slogan. It may not have helped "whip inflation now", but it was a whole lot better than "WTF?", don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I didn't read about this until just now (granted, I didn't have time to check the news today...crazy day!). Wow. You know as soon as I started reading, it immediately reminded me of something Nazi-ish. It makes a very easy chant, which is something dictators enjoy. And it will be much easier to teach kids to say "FORWARD" than "Barack Hussein Obama, Mmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmmm...."

You know, actually, when you say "FORWARD" real loud, the right arm almost tends to involuntarily go up and out at about a 60 degree angle with the fingers straight out in a stiff salute and....

    Uh oh.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Pry- First, glad to see that your name change surgery went well. We love you for who you are inside.

Isn't it amazing that Obama is portraying it as "gutsy" that he (possibly) allowed our military to shoot America's most hated enemy? Oh yeah, he could have taken a lot of heat for that. C'mon, Mother Teresa would have ordered the kill shot!!! What a jackoff this idiot is.

@Gang of One- Sorry to break it to the OWS moron, but reverse racism is still racism. I'm sorry, but any white liberal who voted for Obama because he was black was simply (ahem) "self-pleasuring."

@JustaJeepGuy- I think these people are so in love with their own ideas that they can't take a step back and imagine how they'll be perceived by others who are actually sane. I have a long background in advertising - including writing catchy slogans for people. If I had the assignment of putting something together for the Bamster's 2012 campaign and all I came up with was the word "Forward," I'd throw myself in front of a truck.

@Suzy- I actually considered an alternate cartoon where Obama shouted "Forward!" and did the Hitler salute. But I didn't do that because I'm such a tasteful guy.

But I thoroughly agree that the word "Forward" is more than a little forbidding: it's a call for action without asking for (or suggesting) underlying thought. And I won't lie - this stuff worries me.

Can't help but notice if you make some minor alterations to the "D" you get "FORWAR!" ... which may not be too off the mark for one who uses the traditional slogan of tyrannical mass murdering dictators.

  27. @ Stilton:
Your Mother Teresa line made me laugh but you're probably not far off. It was the death of the innocent unborn she railed against. I'd like to think she would have climbed up on a box to kiss each Seal Team member on the forehead. I'd also like to think she'd have slapped Obobo for being such an arrogant douchebag, but that's my imagination running away with me.

  30. @Coon Tasty- Poor Barney Frank, always the butt of jokes. Butt - get it?

@Lloyd- Thank you. I wasn't sure if people would realize that "Tally Ho" can be translated to mean "Add up the amount of money which I owe you, lady of ill repute."

@Christopher Ross- Nice catch! How about a bumper sticker that says "FOR WAR (D)" (with the D being the little Democrat voter ID logo).

@My Dog Brewski- I'm sick of hearing that Obama took a big political risk by allowing the mission. Who would hold it against him if he staged a raid to get Osama and A) it screwed up, or B) it turned out not to be Osama? Nailing that bastard (Osama, that is) was one of our highest national priorities, and there was NO political risk (other than annoying Pokky-ston, as B. Hussein calls it).

@Gang of One- I'm still chewing over the day's news thinking about Friday's cartoon, and I'm upset about the Chen situation too. Obama and his cronies talk about a "war on women" in the United States, but there's a real, and deadly, war on women in China which Chen has bravely been fighting against on his own. Now, this blind man has put his blind faith in the United States...and has seemingly been thrown to the wolves for his trouble. And why? Because the least fiscally responsible president in history has sold our asses to the Chinese, and we now have no leverage to do anything but kneel to them.

@Emmentaler- It's called "asylum" because you'd have to be nuts to think Obama will help you. (Okay, if that turns out to be the punchline to tomorrow's cartoon, let's just keep it among ourselves).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Interesting some of the OWS idiots are now turning their attention toward Washington. BO and his army of flying monkeys will spin this to the Tea Party faster than you can say, "FORWARD."

I IS very maddening about BO throwing Chen under the bus. Barack O'Tarzan is so busy beating himself on the chest for defying .0005% of Americans and letting the Bin Laden hit happen, but he ain't gonna stand up against the ChiComs? One of his nuts is the size of a mustard seed, and the other is just a little bitty thing.

  34. As soon as I heard that a Chinese dissident had made it to the US embassy, I knew Barack Hussein would throw him back to his oppressors. Then I read that it had happened to another dissident earlier this year. It's truly saddening to know that the US embassy is no longer a safe haven for anyone in China. Or any country, for that matter. Well, a Commie in, say, Britain might find safety, with the current administration soiling the White House....

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Colby- Funny you should mention the size of Obama's balls. Today, there are TWO important news stories which are direct reflections of the president's infinitesimally small testicles: throwing Chen to the Chinese wolves, and Russia declaring they'll do a proactive strike on our missile bases in Europe if we don't haul ass and run away. In both cases, the boldness of our enemies is caused by the abject cowardice of B. Hussein.

@alan markus- That's a great bumpersticker and I'm delighted to see the GOP starting to use some humor with teeth in it (by the way, GOP, if you need an experienced conservative humorist who'll work cheap, the email address is "StiltonAtCutcheeseDotCom.")

    @Pete(Detroit)- Nice!

@JustaJeepGuy- I've got a cartoon about Chen slated for Friday (meaning it will go live in just over two hours from when I'm writing this at around 10pm Thursday). I keep checking the news hoping that I'll have reason to pull the cartoon...and that Chen and his family will be spirited out on Hillary's jet, and that this whole incident won't amount to a colossal shaming of the United States.

Preposterously, the State Department is now claiming that even though Chen broke away from his captors, traveled 300 miles while being hidden at various safe houses, and finally reached the American Embassy - he "never mentioned" wanting protection or asylum of any kind. Really?! We're supposed to believe that?! Then why in the living hell did he even GO to our Embassy?

I believe (though I hope I'm proved wrong) that our Chinese masters ordered the United States to kneel - and Barack Obama immediately did. Because Obama doesn't give a damn about human rights if they stand in the way of his ability to borrow more blood-soaked money.
