Tick Tick Tick...
Aaaaaand, they're off and running! Barack Hussein Obama kicked off his 2012 campaign this weekend in less than grand style. The half-black president offered up half-baked promises to finish the job he says is half done...to an auditorium which was onlf half-full. Which is why we're going to go out on a limb and guess that those who did show up are...halfwits.
Throwing positive rhetoric like "Hope" and "Change" to the wind, Obama's campaign strategy seems to be going directly from blaming Bush for his first four dismal years, to blaming Romney for what might happen (but wouldn't) in the next four years.
Specifically, he says that Romney wants to "turn back the clock" on all of the great progress that Obama has made so far, to which we say "Amen!" Because Obama's agenda is a doomsday clock for this nation, and it's ticking away like an amphetamine-crazed drummer playing "Wipe Out" (which, incidentally, will replace "Hail to the Chief" if Obama wins a second term).
Obama also did his best to sell his already-laughable new slogan "Forward," working it into his speech repeatedly...while attendees (or perhaps employees?) in the conspicuously sparse crowd waved preprinted signs proclaiming "Forward" and "Not Back."
Really...?
Presumably, that would be "not back" to low gas prices and a coherent energy policy. Not back to people actually finding jobs. Not back to really having hope. Not back to constitutionality. Not back to supporting our allies, and demanding respect from our enemies.
Not back to America being the greatest nation on Earth.

Just gas prices alone should sink this socialist scumsucker. Do people think about what they cannot buy because they are putting $50.00 to $100.00 into their tank every week (some even more)? Do they realize what it does to the price of everything else they buy and how it's a drag on the rest of the economy? I know that Turdboy wants us to accept this as the new normal, but I refuse. And if you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it's free. Deathpanels, anyone? In my opinion a hundred Mitt Romneys don't equal 10 percent of a Sarah Palin, but until we can get her to run, he will have to do as a placeholder. Does that mean I'm committed to vote for him? No, but I'm closer than I was.
ReplyDeleteJust seeing obama on tv makes me an ANGRY OKIE DAD! I am also not surprised and very encouraged that his turnout for his 'kickoff' rally was not all that great! Doesn't he know you just can't go back...especially when he has a record everyone can look at now, as opposed to 4 years ago?
ReplyDeleteWow, 4 years of obama under our belts! No wonder I feel sick every time I see his proud countenance on tv!
Congrats on the FB venture. Good luck! Found this a while ago...

Did you ever notice that the democratic party's most radical swing to the left occurred roughly the same time funding for mental hospitals was eliminated, and the insane were pushed out onto the street? Just an unhappy coincidence, probably...
ReplyDelete@AHD: Great points. Points that I'm amazed most libs I argue with just don't seem to understand. Basically the same premise as lowering taxes on the "rich" (ie: those who have the capacity to hire people): if they're not spending money on taxes, they can spend it on their business, or within other business, spurring hiring, spurring the economy, and the morons in WDC make up the lost revenue from few individuals by increasing the number of folks into whose pocket they can shove their hands at gunpoint. They're really very stupid people, when you think of it.
@Stilt: Hannity invited that Juan Williams jackass onto his radio show again Friday. I had to turn it off. He's shrillness is rising in opposite proportion to Øbama's popularity. I wish they (Fox) had simply left him to his fate after his NPR debacle - at least that way, he'd have ended up on some absolutely lefty-left program - where he belongs - and I wouldn't have to turn off one of my favorite programs all the time...
And France elects a Socialist because the French can't deal with austerity ... is this what we can expect from our dumbed-down masses and their elite leash-holders?
ReplyDeleteThat "ANONYMOUS" is me.
ReplyDeleteI just had to share this:
ReplyDelete“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President.” — Translated from Czech Republic Newspaper Prager Zeitung (April 28, 2010.)
Gang - Word!
ReplyDelete@Gang of One, that is right-on. The real problem is a nation that knowingly put an empty-shirted Marxist in office, not the empty-shirted Marxist himself. (It's the same nation that cheerfully elected an obviously corrupt Bill Clinton in similar fashion) That's why I say that it's mostly pointless digging dirt on Obama. There's little we will find that will shock or surprise us, or the people who continue to support him.
ReplyDeleteSuch is what happens when roughly 50% of a nation has become dependent upon the largesse of the state for their well-being.
Such is the topsy-turvy cognitive dissonance fostered by the soft-socialism we've been sold; People who work and wish to keep the fruits of their own labors are considered "greedy" instead of the looters who wish to live off the labors of others.
Just look at what happened this weekend in France & Greece; "the people" flatly said "NO!" to fiscal responsibility and sustainability. They cheerfully voted to continue the swirl down the black hole we all see coming to supposedly keep the comfortable life they all feel entitled to. This is our not-so-distant future.
What we need to do (and all we can do) as freedom-loving citizens is convince those around us that this is a path we cannot afford to go down. When it all comes grinding to a halt, nobody is going to be any better off.
@ Pete and John the Econ -- This is an interesting take:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/05/06/A-Bas-Les-Laches-What-Sarkozy-Loss-Really-Means-for-America
A small taste from the post:
"Insofar as French politicians have relied on tax increases as the key to deficit reduction, that is far closer to the policy of U.S. President Barack Obama and his Democrats than to the approach of the Tea Party and the Republicans. Even so, American media commentators like Joan Walsh and Paul Krugman are blaming Congress and "austerity" for slow economic growth--though federal spending keeps growing."
@Angry Hoosier Dad- I think that the more Obama campaigns, and the more MSM misrepresentations of his record we hear, the easier you're going to find it to pull the lever for "Not Obama." At this point, I'm not nagging anyone who has reluctance about voting for Romney (yet) - but I am asking them to keep paying attention to Obama and thinking about four more years which will be inestimably worse than the first four years.
ReplyDelete@PRY- I practically have to be lashed to a mast in order to listen to a whole speech from Obama; my blood starts boiling after about two syllables and it's all downhill after that.
Regarding the Alexa stats, I've got to admit that I stare at the numbers the way a cow stares at a passing train - blankly, with a mouthful of half-chewed grass. There are a host of statistical tools for measuring the popularity of a blog, how "viral" the message is, which browsers people are using in Wales, and on and on - and I don't really "get" any of it. I'm at the bleeding edge of my technological abilities just getting content posted and then running for cover.
@Emmentaler- When it comes to the Evil Rich, the Left seems to think that all of the money is burned while lighting cigars, or goes into ballcrawl-style pits so that the wealthy can roll around in their cash. The Left never thinks about that money actually being spent on goods and services, or invested to create additional jobs. All the Left knows is that they want a bigger and bigger piece of the pie... even though it's not a pie of their making.
Regarding Hannity and Juan Williams, you've just described a sandwich that I will not take a bite of. Hannity strikes me as being shrill and too full of himself; Juan seems like a nice guy who genuinely believes in the most ludicrous lefty claptrap. I can't imagine that bringing them together would provide me either entertainment or enlightenment.
@Gang of One- Frankly, we beat them to the Socialist punch almost four years ago.
And the newspaper quote is exactly, frustratingly, heartbreakingly right...and captures my greatest fear about our future.
@John the Econ- I sometimes wonder just HOW we can convince enough people to vote against their own immediate comfort in order to make sure the nation endures. The BS from the other side is so pervasive; even though it's a straight-up fact that Social Security will be broke in four years, the Left is still saying that the program "pays for itself" and is doing fine.
ReplyDeleteMy hope is that if a more conservative leadership can start energizing the economy again, people will loosen their stranglehold on the government "safety nets" because they'll have another (and better) option for survival: a job.
@Gang of One- When I read that the cause of our "slow economic growth" is unacceptable government austerity, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. There really should be a word for that, since I spend most of my waking hours in that condition.
@Gang of One: The only reason that Walsh & Krugman get to spew their nonsense is because of the willing and gross ignorance of their "elite" audience. (Krugman regularly contradicts his own econ-101 textbooks)
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem with people who "know it all" is that it's impossible for them to learn anything.
On a political level, you cannot compare the US to Europe apples-to-apples; Europe is not bi-polar like America is. But on an economic level you can compare, and the picture is not pretty. In France, the state controls just short of 60% of the economy. (compared to about just over 40% for the US) What the French citizens are saying is that they don't want to pay for their goodies.
Greece is just a basket-case with a spoiled population and an inflated sense of their worth.
@ Stilton -- Inre: laugh or cry, maybe this will help?
ReplyDeletehttp://neuro.psychiatryonline.org/article.aspx?articleid=103630
http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/content/124/9/1708.full
Stilt, the phrase you're looking for might be ambiguously (or ambivalently?) hysterical - as both laughing and crying can be done hysterically... and as the economy improves, there will be much less resistance to damping down on the 'safety nets' as an increasingly frustrated electorate starts to bitch and hollar "get an Effing JOB, man!" It seems to already be starting - pretty much EVERY place I go to eat has 'help wanted' signs up, and many retail places too - but so long at they're paying less than unemployment, no one's really interested.
ReplyDeleteI had CNN on in the background this morning. The talking head said something about obama officially launching his campaign, and then they showed a snippet of one of his ads. Afterwards the t.h. said "I can summarize the rest of the ad for you. 'Blame Bush ... Claim that Romney is more of the same.'"
ReplyDeleteI almost choked on my coffee. I guess the t.h. got up early and read Hope n' Change.
@Stilton, the fatal flaw of "democratic socialism" is that people will always vote their self-interest over the health of the system. Over time, it's simply not sustainable. And the elites know it. That's why the ultimate goal is Marxism, which necessarily eliminates the "democratic" out "democratic socialism". The problem is that they know that "the people" will never vote for outright Marxism; they must be "fooled" into it. That's why we're sold a kind of "soft socialism" which pretends to offer us all this "freedom" from responsibility without being responsible to pay for any of it.
ReplyDeleteSuch was the case with ObamaCare, which has "single payer" as its ultimate goad; American's aren't ready for "single payer", so they must be tricked into moving towards it.
Of course, we know that once the specter of run-away taxes and regulation are removed from the horizon, America will quickly re-emerge from the malaise of the last 10 years.
@John the Econ- I love the quote that people who "know it all" can't learn anything. That's probably the most succinct damning of "Ivory Towerism" that I've ever heard.
ReplyDelete@Gang of One- Those were interesting articles (I really am interested in the human mind - or in the case of liberals, how they function without one). However, as much as I'd like to claim that I'm a victim of "Pseudobulbar affect" or (even better!) "Emotional incontinence," the condition described refers to people who laugh and/or cry spontaneously without feeling the underlying emotions. Trust me - I feel the conflicting emotions keenly.
Although I'm using that "emotional incontinence" line next time I cry at a movie.
@Pete(Detroit)- Sweet! I've got "Ambiguous Hysteria!" I am so going to the Department of Motor Vehicles and applying for handicapped parking.
@CenTexTim- I'm surprised you heard that on CNN. Could this be the first stirrings of conscience in some of the media that jammed the Bamster down America's throats last time? Let's hope.
@John the Econ- While I despise what the Left is doing, I have to acknowledge their stealthy way of doing it. By promising "reform" in health insurance in glowing terms, the Left sets the wheels in motion to destroy the industry utterly - leaving "single payer" as the only option... and all with unwitting voter approval.
And of course, promising goodies to the electorate is - sadly - a never fail proposition. At least politically.
gang of one....that czech piece was great! Now..czech, please!
ReplyDeleteThe European elections are interesting, but more complex than what's being reported. Sarkozy made huge promises and failed to deliver. Don't forget that it was a far right candidate who cost him votes in the first round; and she failed to back him in the second round. And around 5% of voters submitted blank ballots. Clearly, the incumbents were voted out. I don't think people really know what they voted in. I read some of the comments from the new French president and they sound very hopey changey with no specifics other than tax the rich. I just hope Merkel stays strong in Germany which enjoys low unemployment and growth.
ReplyDelete@Stilton, Romney should run with an ad where he agrees with President Obama that he (Romney) want to "turn back the clock." And then Romney should put up a feed from http://www.usdebtclock.org/.
ReplyDelete@AHD, If you've not seen it yet, you might like this article on Breitbart (Palin): http://preview.tinyurl.com/7mr9pgs
@GangOfOne, LOVE that quote from the Czech paper.
Oh man! You gotta go to Breitbart.com and watch the video of the obama rally! Yawwwnnnnn!
ReplyDelete@Earl- Interesting analysis of the situation in France. It's frustrating that there are so many object lessons to be had if we'd just look at what's happening in other countries, but the MSM tends to have tunnel vision.
ReplyDelete@txGreg- That's a great idea! I hope someone from Romney's camp is reading this blog and jotting down these ideas!
Also, the article about Palin was interesting. Obama wishes he had a record like Palin's to run on!
@Pry- I'll probably watch it at some point. But right now the sun is shining and I'm not in the mood.
It is truly sad when the President of the United States appears in a large American City to inspire and bless, but people don't even bother to show up. What is wrong with them!? Don't they WANT a blessing? I just don't understand...
ReplyDeleteI posted the DWS thing above, but all the libs I know actually feel this way. They can NOT comprehend why we don't all worship at the feet of BO. I think it's extremely telling that Narcissus' big opening day flopped like a trout out of water. May this become the trend! And somebody at CNN actually uttered words against the Chosen One?! OOO damn! Can it be? Let's hope this is contagious.
ReplyDeleteMaybe some of you heard about the DNC sexual harrassment scandal in North Carolina. The Party Chairman is a lawyer from my small town, and he blathered something in the local paper about "...needing to concentrate on more important things like stopping the Republicans from taking us back to the 50's." What a maroon! as Bugs would say. I'd give an arm and a leg to go back to the fifties, you idiot! Hell, I'd almost give both arms and legs. Maybe his mother beat him in the fifties or something. That might explain his brain damage, too.
@Debbie, with "blessings" like Obama, who needs "curses"?
ReplyDeleteColby, to berate the obvious, "back to the 50's" for prog's is oppressive to women, when they were only fit to keep house and make babies. Never mind that "Mom" is the most important job in the world.. Never mind that most kids ate home cooked meals and sack lunches, ran around a lot, got treated for cuts, scrapes and bruises not diabetes. Never mind that w/ two parents, one of them home full time, people KNEW where you were most of the time.
ReplyDeleteNo, some folks see the clearly defined gender roles, "uptight" attitudes towards 'free' sex, 'recreational' drugs as oppressive to all things bright and beautiful...
And let's not forget punishing our daughters w/ babies...
And God Forbid the Government actually PRODUCE a budget, much less stick to it!
See also the very reall oppression of blacks (mainly by democrats), and the 'lack of compassion' for "the poor" - I mean can you just imagine? being EXPECTED to work for your "freebies"?
@Earl – very insightful take on the French election. I don’t see this as a failure for fiscal restraint and free-markets, but, as do you, a flip-of-the-bird to Sarkozy’s failure to deliver.
ReplyDelete@DBS/Colby – I hear a lot of the same drivel and disbelief from some of my colleagues; they honestly think that Obama has not had enough time to work his Mojo™ because of all of Bush’s mistakes he inherited. When they feed me that line, I tell them “He inherited nothing, he asked for it.” They look at me and begin spewing. That’s another of the Left’s inimical, dishonest, and bankrupt clichés that we bust.
@Pete – I do not know of one single conservative who actually thinks some past decade or era was “good old times”. Most, if not all, would agree with your assessment about solid families and individual accountability in that day, and most if not all would also be the first to recognize that blacks had gotten a raw deal since Reconstruction. It never ceases to amaze me that ones who seem to pine for the
“good old days” are the anarchists, Commies, and parasites who want to re-live the turbulent and destructive 60s.
Gangsta Solo (han's cousin?)
ReplyDeleteI can only hope there is a similar 'failure to deliver' bird shoved at the Prez, Nancy Fancypants, and Hairless Reid.
In Re "inheritance", the big thing he had to deal w/ was the financial crises, brought on by the housing meltdown, caused 100% by
wait for it
DEMOCRATS!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzWrnUezDOU&feature=related
@Stan da Man -- You are absolutely right! Obama came into office promising the moon and the stars and has not delivered. Obama has continued to place the blame for our current malaise at the feet of the previous Administration, but a sizable portion of the electorate is not buying that canard. Bailout monies, crony-socialism, 12+ percent out of work, down-grade of the USA's credit, Fast & Furious ... of course his campaign is completely antagonistic; he has no record to defend, hence, no record to run on.
ReplyDeleteGangsta Solo -- I like that! Maybe I am related to Han -- I am a lovable rogue, actually.
@Colby- I think this is going to be a very different campaign than the last one. Obama can't run on vague promises of Hope, Change, being post-racial, fiscally responsible, or a unifier. The rainbows have faded, and the unicorns have been put out to pasture. This time, he has to run as who he truly is: an angry, anti-American socialist who represents the worst of oldschool Chicago political corruption.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the "threat" of taking us back to the 50's, that's like threatening us with being told we'll live in Mayberry. Yes, please. But sadly, the young people hearing the dire warnings of going back to the 50's will just assume it was a horrible time, when police used attack dogs and fire hoses on women who wanted birth control, and our president was that awful Adolf Eichmannhower.
@John the Econ- I think it was Michelle Obama who recently referred to Barry as a "blessing" on the American people. Which probably meant that, for the first time in her adult life, she was proud of God.
@Pete(Detroit)- I'm all for women having the choice to pursue careers in or out of the home... but if anyone wants to attack the importance of mothers and homemakers in the 50's, then I'm ready to fight. That's my mother they're looking down on.
And isn't it ironic that the only thing people have to give up to get their "freebies" is...their freedom?
@Gang of One- Good perspective on Earl's point. I've very much in agreement with both of you.
Regarding Obama "inheriting" a bad situation, that's like Lizzie Borden complaining about being an orphan. The Bamster claimed he understood the depth of our national problems and had all the solutions. For him to claim later that his first term only appears to be a dismal failure because he actually had no effing clue what the problems really were is no consolation whatsoever. He's admitting he was clueless but shot his mouth off anyway. Why would we want more of that?!
@Stan da Man- I'm hoping that young voters, in particular, will turn on Obama owing to his "failure to deliver." The question is whether we can get them to focus on the lack of jobs and the fact that they've had to move back in with their parents...and to ignore the BS about Republicans wanting to jack up the interest rates on student loans.
@Gang of One- Don't I wish Obama would run on his record. I'm going to be doing my best to try to remind people of exactly what he has and hasn't done in his first, and hopefully only, term.
Gansta Solo "Who're you calling 'scruffy looking'"?
ReplyDelete>grin<
@ TxGreg:
ReplyDeleteThanks for that. She is all that I knew her to be and that scares the living crap out of the left (and many on the alleged right). I refuse to believe that her political career is over and the pismire Romneys of the world are the best we can hope for.
@Debbie Wasserman-Schultz....
ReplyDeleteI do not believe I have seen anything angrier than obama...and your PERM!
I sort of hate to post this long assed letter, but it is the one I wrote to the local paper after their front page article on DNC Chairman David Parker. Stilton, please feel free to blow this away due to it's length.
ReplyDeleteDear Editor:
I was reading the front page article in the April 19, 2012 R&L about NC Democratic Party Chairman David Parker, and something he said really struck home with me. And I quote:
“The good of the Democratic Party must be my polar star to guide this ship into battle in the fall,” he said. “While we should focus on fighting the Republican philosophy that is turning our state back to the 1950s, we must focus for the moment on party unity.”
I fully understand that citizens might be concerned about our great country returning to the dark times of the 1950’s which were mostly under Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower. A few sobering statistics from the decade of the 1950’s…..
• Unemployment averaged a staggering 4.5% from 1950 through 1959 (Bureau of Labor Statistics website).
• Automobile sales, home sales, and household income experienced unprecedented growth unlike any other time in U.S history.
• Small family farms were the rule, not the exception.
• The tourism industry boomed with the now widespread ownership of automobiles, and the newfound prosperity of the automobile owners.
• Gasoline averaged 29 cents per gallon (about $2.35 adjusted for inflation).
• The federal deficit only rose an unimpressive $27 billion in this 10 year span. That’s about $218 billion (with a “B”) adjusted for inflation. Compare that with the inpressive $5 trillion (with a “T”) that has been added to the deficit in the past three and a half years.
• The space program started with the establishment of NASA in 1958.
• The Civil Rights Movement began, and schools began to become integrated. Rosa Parks inspired millions by refusing to move to the back of the bus.
• The Interstate Highway system was started.
• Television became common in average households, no longer only a rich man’s luxury.
• Strangely enough, The Congress, Senate and President actually still used the archaic and outdated U.S. Constitution as the “gold standard” to perform their jobs.
Yes, the 1950’s was truly a dreadful era in history that we should be careful to not repeat. These were barbaric times when you were (unbelievably) expected to pay for your own food, college, birth control, housing, and health insurance. Thankfully, we have progressed considerably since those dark days when the Federal Government, for the most part, just left people alone to do their own thing.
Seriously folks… Our country has been in steady decline since the 1950’s (with a few scattered bright spots), but the past three and a half years has been exponentially worse. Our national debt has exploded to a staggering 16 trillion dollars; 5 trillion of that in the past 3-1/2 years. The Federal Government is bloated, hyper-inefficient, out of control, and growing larger and more powerful daily. The people we employ are having lavish parties and vacations with OUR money. I for one would love to go back to the “dreadful” 1950’s and will be voting as such come November. It is far past time to return to personal responsibility, and to take back the government that is supposed to be OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people. Please join me in removing as many “Progressives” from office as possible come November 6, 2012. Let’s stop bowing to foreign powers and make America great again… like it was in the 1950’s.
@Gang of One said "Obama came into office promising the moon and the stars and has not delivered."
ReplyDeleteHe did not deliver the "moon and the stars" and any thinking person knew better. But he did deliver (or set us on the irreversible path to) what he really wanted and promised: To "fundamentally change America" to something resembling a totalitarian socialist state.
@Colby -- I am so stealing that for ammunition when my libtard colleagues start yammering about said time-travel.
ReplyDelete@John the Econ -- While he may not have actually promised those two orbs as such, his rhetoric was of the fabulous kind; healing the planet, the ocean levels receding, blahblahblah. And as I mentioned earlier [through a Czech newspaper's editorial], there were and still are idjits who believe this man's BS. They worry me the most.
Gang of One,
ReplyDeleteSteal away! I actually did some research on the stats. It's amazing how liberals will clam up when you hit them with actual facts.
John the Econ,
I beg to differ on the moon part. I think Narcissus has given us the biggest moon ever... and with cheeks spread wide so we can all wonder at the glory of his huge brown eye. And then came the taking of a giant dump on the constitution, the military, taxpayers, Israel.....
Gang of one - Worse, there are people who understand what he's about, and support him fully.
ReplyDeleteStilt, in re Ms Borden the orphan, it seems to me that I heard exactly that reason as a plea for leniency for the Menendez brothers...
Colby - brilliant, thx for sharing!
@Stan da Man- In "Star Wars" the n-word is "nerf-herder."
ReplyDelete@Angry Hoosier Dad- I think that during Palin's veep run, she wasn't quite ready for the national stage (albeit she was more ready than B. Hussein). Since then, she's had plenty of time to broaden the scope of her interests, and I think she'd be entirely credible. At the moment, I think she does a lot of good for the cause by being such a visible and capable spokeswoman, and I'm really hoping she plays a very active role in helping to defeat Obama (and I think she will).
@PRY- Actually, Debbie the Demmie recently relaxed that perm, straightened her hair, and tinted it light brown. She definitely has "relaxed" her angry invective, though.
@Colby- At first I was going to tell you not to apologize for your length, but that sounded bad. Then I was going to say that the length wasn't a problem because this is a great piece. And that still sounds bad. BUT...
That's a GREAT letter and I hope it gets published. In the 50's, there was actually a culture of morality and civility in this country. Not perfect - nothing ever is - but in many areas things were inestimably better than they are now.
Thanks for sharing this with us!
@John the Econ- On the other hand, there's been a parade of "stars" visiting the Whitehouse, and Obama certainly "moons" us on a regular basis (oops- just saw Colby's post, and his "moon" joke is much more vivid than mine!)
I appreciate everybody's compliments on my silly letter that never got published. Our paper tries (and mostly fails) to be middle of the road. One day is a column by Cal Thomas, but the next will be that hag Fomma Harlot. I initially thought they didn't publish because of the length, but then one day noticed a letter to the editor from some blathering moonbat that took up half the editorial page.
ReplyDelete...there's that "moon" thing again.
Emmantaler,
I used to love Hannity, but if he keeps getting Bob Beckel, Juan Williams, Tamara Holder and the like, he will lose me for good. And please, three people screaming at the same time is two too many.
@Colby (and everyone else)- If you're tired of people screaming at and over each other on "news" shows, then please do yourself the favor of catching The Journal Editorial Report on PBS each weekend. Smart, funny conservatives from the Wall Street Journal editorial staff who speak eloquently and quietly about the issues of the day. Seriously, it's a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to this site and love it. I just want to give you some confidence in young people (some young people). My wife and I are 24 with a son and we work our butts off to support our family and guess what? It makes me proud to not get one red cent from the government. I'm also a vet and needless to say, a LARGE majority of active duty and veterans DESPISE this administration. Many can't voice it though if they're active duty. Obummer is weak, thin skinned, anti-patriotism, devisive, etc. So yeah, a bunch of young people SUCK (OWS) but sane ones are out there. "When you struggle TOO much for equality, you lose quality" (military, workforce, police, firefighters, etc). Keep it up! Oh, and what do you call a liberal with a family and a job??? A conservative!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous- I enjoyed your very-welcome "feel good" letter! (By the way, when posting a comment - which I hope you'll do often - if you click the Name/URL choice you can give yourself a handle).
ReplyDeleteBefore another word comes out of my mouth, let me thank you for your service to the country. I'm humbled and honored to have you here.
I'm glad to say that I have a pretty high opinion of a lot of young people (and I have a daughter about your same age). It is easy - and perhaps even natural - for the young to be bamboozled with promises of rainbows and unicorns. What sounds good and compassionate (like a welfare "safety net") when you're young looks a lot different when you've had decades to watch the damage done to families and society.
I can't blame the young for their lack of experience...but I can, and DO, blame the media and politicians for feeding them false information about current news and history.
But the young voters who embraced Obama last time around are waking up. They've seen for themselves that they can't find jobs or, in many cases, even move out of their parents' homes. They've seen that Obama didn't cut the deficit in half, that he didn't reach across the aisle to govern in a "new" way, that his promises of transparency were lies, that he never had any intention of bettering relations between blacks and whites, and that he's just another narcissistic hack politician and (oh yeah!) anti-American socialist.
The flip side of the naivete that made them Obama voters in the first place is that this is also the first time they've been blatantly lied to by a politician - and a lot of them are taking it personally. And it's up to all of us to help them find their way to conservatism as their eyes open up.
But hey, let me climb down from my soapbox and just say that I'm delighted you're here! When I think of "Hope" regarding the future, I don't think of Obama's campaign slogans... I think of families like yours!
@ Colby – Fantastic letter, they should publish it.
ReplyDelete@ Anon – Welcome! Thanks for your service. It’s great to get your perspective on the issues, etc.
@ Stilt – The soapbox is the perfect place for you :)
@SC- Just so long as nobody kicks the soapbox out from under me after fitting me with a rope necktie!
ReplyDeleteI don't know 'bout "Wipe Out" as a campaign song ... considering the Big Red One's B/C and the (in)famous situation room photo supposedly taken on bin Laden Day, I think a better choice would be "You Better (Photo) Shop Around".
ReplyDelete@Bob Mack- He shoots...he scores! Good one!
ReplyDeleteNice work- linked here:

@Colby You did in fact get published, just not in your local rag. I copied your letter, attributed it to you, and sent it to everyone I know with my comments added:
ReplyDelete"The following is a copy of a Letter to the Editor of the newspaper, cited in the first line, written by a fellow reader of HopenChangeCartoons.com that was never published by the newspaper. Colby was responding to the North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman’s comments regarding the so-called Republican philosophy of turning the state back to the 50’s. Colby’s well researched letter makes me wish we could return to those days as well. I especially agree with his thoughts on self-responsibility highlighted below."
