Paul Ryan is officially Romney's pick for VP, and Hope n' Change couldn't be happier! Ryan has the courage and clear-spoken intelligence we've been needing - and he will demolish the economic lies of the Obama administration.
@Earl- This is a GREAT day to donate. We can help Romney's campaign AND throw a tremendous scare into Obama. I personally opened my wallet, waved away the moths which have been breeding there for the past 3+ years, and sent a nice contribution to the Romney/Ryan team.
@Harvey- 8 years of Ryan as Veep, 8 more years of Ryan as President? I could live with that!
On the one hand, I don't see how VP selection matters one whit to the ABO crowd. On the other hand, Ryan seems to be a good guy. Shame he won't be replacing Bohner as Speaker, tho. THAT jackoff's gotta GO.
@Pete(Detroit)- To me, Ryan's selection means that this race is going to be about substance, and addressing those "third rail" issues that BOTH parties have been avoiding forever. And that's the very heart of what motivated the Tea Party - fiscal responsibility and a return to Constitutional fundamentals.
It's been so long since I've heard good political news that I'm still a little dizzy (but it's a good feeling)!
Cookie, I'd have liked to see that too - she's one smart self made woman. She also flatly refused, when asked in an interview if she would accept if offered. Didn't want to deal w/ the BS, or some such.
I have often repeated the axiom [can't recall who coined it] that if you want to know what an illiberal Lefty is thinking/doing, listen to what he/she/it accuses the right of thinking/doing. The choice of Ryan is a good choice, and the giddiness of the usual suspects just proves that this is driving them to madness.
There is a terrific essay at the same site from May 2012 that does justice to Ryan's budget.
"To me, Ryan's selection means that this race is going to be about substance, and addressing those "third rail" issues that BOTH parties have been avoiding forever. And that's the very heart of what motivated the Tea Party - fiscal responsibility and a return to Constitutional fundamentals."
Exactly so.
As others have said here, I'm amazingly happy and amazed to be happy about politics.
The one thing I was hoping for was a unity ticket -- teaparty/GOP -- and I had about given up on it.
I have been a Ryan fan ever since he stood up to Obama in that so-called health summit. I sent that video around to my friends this morning. It's both heartening and shocking--heartening because Ryan tells the truth clearly and bravely and shocking because of the looks on the faces of everyone else in the room. They can't believe someone is telling the truth, and they don't know what to do about it.
Well, the truth eventually gets its boots on.
Richard Grennell said on twitter today that Andrew Breitbart would have been so excited about this. I totally agree--because of his love of the truth. Such an encouraging point!
My husband and I are happy also. We're Ron Paul TEA Party Patriots and Libertarian through and through. No one is "perfect" so have no glaring complaints with Paul Ryan. I just pray this will bust up the black gangs occupying the White House so we can get back to having a prosperous society again.
I am curious how long it will take for the libtard lame stream media to Palinize Mr. Ryan. I hope he's made of steel and ready for a fight.
folks, the heart attack joke is funny, however, we must remember the ABSOLUTELY THUGGISH AND SLEAZY behavior of this party and remember that NOTHING is beneath them! They will say and do ANYTHING to win! So we could very well see just such a scenario play out. Get ready and expect anything from them. They are EVIL.
@Cookie- I have huge admiration for Condoleeza but am glad she wasn't the pick. Why? Because it would have caused us to refight all the old battles over the Bush administration, and that's not a winning position. Ryan is very directed to the future - and has the stats to show that the future is going to suck if it continues on Obama's trajectory. He's the right guy at the right time.
@Pete(Detroit)- Like I just said, I'd have no problem with Condi actually IN the job...I just wouldn't want her history being a distraction during the campaign.
@Gang of One- The venom and snarkiness from the Left about Ryan tells me we've got exactly the right guy. I believe that Ryan is going to kick ass, and I can't wait for him to get started.
@Sarah Rolph- We're completely in synch. I wanted this so much that I couldn't quite believe that it actually happened. Ryan does not spin or indulge in doublespeak. He makes complex issues understandable, and he shows the urgency of our situation. I'd like to think that Breitbart would be pleased. God knows, he can take plenty of credit for the direction things are taking.
@Sparky- As I've said, I have no huge problems with Ron Paul and am probably more libertarian than anything else. But Ron Paul can't be anything but a spoiler this time around, and we MUST get Obama and his cronies out of power. NOW.
And can you imagine the courage it takes for a good man like Ryan to agree to accept this challenge, knowing that the worst (and best-funded) scumbuckets on Earth are going to do everything they can to destroy him, his family, and his reputation? For that alone, I love the man.
@Anonymous- I wouldn't have run the heart attack joke unless I thought it was a very real possibility (and I still do). I give Biden less than a 50-50 chance of being on the ticket on election day, though they'll have to doctor a reason for him to step down "to spend more time with family." I think Hillary and Barry have very little love for each other...but it would be a powerful combination.
But like you say, there WILL be a level of trickery and ugliness coming unlike anything this nation has ever seen before. Count on it.
After the Obama election, I was sad but hoped that I was wrong about him. I wasn't! In 2009 I saw a bumper sticker which read, "It took a Carter to make a Reagan. I wonder what Obama will make?" That was the moment I felt some real "hope" that maybe, just maybe the Obama election would wake up the country. The selection of Ryan, a Tea Party choice, along with Romney - sorta' Reagonesque. Hang in there, Ryan! The Dems have already started their smear campaign.
Just donated fifty bucks to the Romney/Ryan campaign-wish I could make a larger one, but am "between jobs" right now.
This is the first time I've felt that maybe we have a chance of winning in Nov. While Romney is not my favorite, his selection of Ryan shows that he is serious about bringing in the conservative vote.
As soon as the announcement was made I got an email requesting a donation from Mitt's team - I happily contributed and will continue to do so. In the past, I had always said that while Ryan would make a good choice, I'd rather him stay in his position in the House budget committee, however, I came to my senses - would I rather he propose a realistic budget or would I rather he implement one - 'nuff said.
@JoAnn- It's a weird feeling, isn't it? Though I'm enjoying it!
@Irene Peduto- I have to admit that I was wrong about Obama. I expected him to be bad, but he was (and is) much, much worse than I dreamed possible. But I think we've got another 2010 shaping up at the polls - though the ugliness is going to guarantee that whoever our next president is, he's going to be governing over a divided country.
@FlyBoy- I'm not usually a big person for sending money out the door, but in this case I'm doing what I can for Romney. Besides, it's not really money I earned - I probably only got it because there are roads and bridges leading to my home.
@SeaDog- I didn't want Ryan to run as president because I didn't want his strengths diluted by all of the other responsibilities a president has. But I think he's a great pick for veep; he'll have the platform to articulate his vision for our economic future - AND to shine a spotlight on the failures which brought us to this point.
I am wondering if American soldiers would actually shoot American citizens if ordered too by the Government in charge. I say the troops will shoot American's if ordered.
Sometimes I think it would be beneficial if the Executive Branch was organized along the lines of most corporations, the President as the CEO with Treasury, State, and the Military/Intel reporting direct, and the VP being the COO, with the rest of the Cabinet heads reporting to him, and with the added task of formulating and implementing (passing) the budget through Congress.
@Anonymous - the military still has the responsibility of refusing an illegal or immoral order - I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but I know from personal experience that if the Posse Comitatus act is suspended and the US Military acts as a law enforcement agency (not talking about the National Guard), the troops are issued live ammo and chemical weapons (not tear gas) to put down a declared insurrection, and as such will shoot if the ROE's require it. With Homeland Security having their own (?) riot gear and I guess the people to put it on (what ever was the outcome of O's proposal to have a civilian 'Security Section' [S/S] equal to the armed forces?), there's no telling what Big Sister might do, especially if there were men involved.
@Anonymous- I don't think the majority of troops would shoot Americans, especially if the order came down from Barack Obama. And what conceivable argument could he give to begin the extermination of peaceful citizens, many middle-aged, who are waving American flags. I just don't see it happening.
Of course, a few terroristic actions taken by agents pretending to be in the Tea Party could change everything.
@Flyboy- I'll be playing with a riff on "Yes We Can" in tomorrow's cartoon!
@SeaDog- I think that would make sense too. I've never heard a one man band who actually made pleasant music instead of just a loud noise.
And regarding Homeland Security, between Janet Napolitano's clearly expressed dislike of veterans and Tea Parties, and her continuing acquisition of drones, weapons, and troops, I do worry from time to time.
@Stilton - "As I've said, I have no huge problems with Ron Paul and am probably more libertarian than anything else. But Ron Paul can't be anything but a spoiler this time around, and we MUST get Obama and his cronies out of power. NOW."
AMEN to that! :) I'm sure Dr. Paul feels the same and that's why he's urging voters to not vote for him. We're also voting Romney-Ryan to be sure.
A donation to the Romney/Ryan campaign is occurring right now from our family. Next step is a yard sign. I haven't felt this hopeful in four years!
ReplyDeleteGreat.
ReplyDeleteNow we have to wait 8 more years for a Ryan presidency :-(

Oh how I wish Condoleeza Rice was on the ticket with Romney. But I hope Paul Ryan will fill the bill.

I finally feel HOPE for a CHANGE, first time in 4 years!

Obama 2008: "Yes we can"!!!!
ReplyDeleteObama 2012: "No you didn't"!!!
