Glitch Happens
A little change of pace today; this is a partial collection of graphics which Hope n' Change created for Facebook (and our good friends at Barack Obama's Dead Fly) because we're fed up with hearing the word "glitch" applied to the Healthcare.gov website debacle.
"Glitch" sounds small, cute, and sort of pleasantly quirky. But a "glitch" doesn't cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. A "glitch" doesn't cause human suffering or potential loss of life. A "glitch" is a minor mistake - not the inevitable result of botched human planning, shirked responsibility, and the decision to put a higher priority on politics than practicality.
Rather, what we're seeing at Healthcare.gov should more properly be described as a "man-caused disaster," a term the Obama administration originally proposed as a euphemism for acts of terror.
It's time to take that term out of the mothballs and put it back into everyday use. After all, we've paid for it.

Looking at the word "glitch" I wondered if it might be a contraction and refer to magilla obama. If you put the words "glowering bitch" together, it could work.
ReplyDeleteAh, Bruce, I knew we could count on you for some trenchant bit of word-play that contains a large nugget of truth.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your "nuggets" tend to be about the size of the Ontonagon Copper Boulder. You could look it up.
From a previous comment, but reflecting what the administration is slowly, between the lines, admitting:
ReplyDeleteTech Surge Isn't Going To Rescue Obamacare Website
Good 'ole Steny's comment "We're Gonna Give Them More Money" provides the monetary half of the Gov't answer of more people/more money.
From my experience in dealing with $100K+ contracts, first if the over-run begins to exceed 5% alarms go off, and second, the contractor is held to accountability. In this case, you would think the the good old Canadian company would be made to correct the errors at their expense. Ah! But there's the rub - as I expected, first words out of the company, "We just designed it to the specifications they gave us/they kept changing the specifications", throwing it back onto HHS & fellow minions.
And further happiness...
30 Billion On Electronic Medical Records
Good God, I think the old 'put 100 chimpanzees in a room pounding on a keyboard and in 30 days you'll have Obamacare, probably would have achieved a more coherent result!
And the truth comes out (as if we didn't get it with Dirty Harry admitting it):
ReplyDeleteObamacare - A Trojan Horse
@ Bruce Bleu - well played sir!
ReplyDelete@ Stilton - thank you for putting into words what I've been thinking ever since that photo first circulated with the ditz's eyes starting to roll back in her head.
You both owe me a new keyboard....
@Stilton,
ReplyDeleteVery profound post today, and sobering too. If fully implemented, Glitch-care will kill way more people per year than all of those disasters combined. The Hindenburg was nothing compared to the thousands who will die waiting months or years for heart surgery or cancer treatments. And… no doubt abortions will continue unabated and undelayed; after all, the liberals will have us believe pregnancy is the number one health threat in the country.
@Bruce,
Priceless! Glowering Bitch is the perfect nickname for MO.
@Grumpy,
Trojan horse, yes, but methinks it will not be nearly as effective since the wheels fell off on the way through the gate. It’s going to be tough to get people to forget by November 2014.
It's 9am and all I've seen for the last two hrs. is K.Sebelius say "bho knew nothing about the 8-track technology employed. NOTHING i tell you. He had no clue -now leave Brittany alone!!!"
ReplyDeleteWhich only underscores the Limbaugh Theorum: he's not responsible for any f'ing thing.
609ahequitGlitch happens; another class from the king of classic. I hate to write this but I chanced on Jon Stewart's ten minute glitch monologue. He should have used Stilton's 'Glitch' cartoons to enhance the show.
ReplyDeleteI saw Jon Stewart's ten-minute "glitch" rant and thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever heard coming out of that man's mouth. Of course, he stopped short of putting any of the blame directly on his beloved leader, but it's a step in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteAny chance O-blah-blah-BS contracted out the whole shit-bag to his old cronies at Solyndra and their like? Pay for no play? How much kickback is going into his pocket and the Democrap coffers?
ReplyDeleteA "man-caused disaster". Again, brilliant Dr. J. That sums up most of what has taken place in the last 6 years.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're right. A "glitch" is "a short-lived fault in a system." That hardly describes the state of HealthCare.gov, which is clearly as fundamentally flawed as the law it was designed to serve.
We should consider this a gift of Progressive hubris that honestly believes that given enough power and money, that they can solve any and all problems. It's the finest example to date of what we all can expect in the future if we let them have their way over us. If after 3 years and half-a billion dollars they cannot even run a web site, how the hell can we expect them to actually and literally manage our personal health care???
And you are right, @Grumpy Curmudgeon. I've been arguing that since the first moment I laid eyes on ObamaCare. It's nice that more are now starting to figure it out. Unfortunately, it's now too late. "Single Payer" is inevitable.
And if you haven't yet seen this, do take the time: When you've lost Jon Stewart, you've lost America:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcLA_D1FZnA&feature=youtu.be
Thanks Jon. If only you were as "balanced" the rest of the time, things might not have gotten this far.
Completely off-topic, but I had to post this link for Stilton. Hope they don't come after you next Doc!
ReplyDelete(Some of the rest of you might fine it amusing too. At least it will remind you that all government is run by idiots, not just ours)
I love this site....thanks Stilt...we need to laugh & you are such a great enabler for us HnC addicts.
ReplyDelete@ John The Econ:
I agree with you, the Progs will never learn that more $ won't solve all the problems.
More & more money go to the govt run schools & they have not improved in what, the last 40 years or so. Seems like they just keep getting worse. I hold no hope that the Progs will ever figure this out.
Re; the shut-down. The only thing that directly effected me was that traffic during my commute was lighter & I loved it.
The thing that made my blood boil was our spiteful, puny president spending more of our $ to close parks & memorials than it would have been to just leave them alone. All for the political 'hay' to blame the R's.
My definition of Single Payer: The person getting the treatment pays. I'm for that.
@Mike Lester,
ReplyDeletePresident Artful Dodger has had people covering his ass his entire, pathetic life. He has less responsibility (and maturity, I might add) than my 7 year old grandson. I would imagine his very first act upon entering the White House for the first time was to find Harry Truman's little desk sign, and burn it in a ritualistic fashion. To his credit, though, he did stop short of putting up a sign that says, "The Buck Stops Over There Somewhere" with an arrow pointing towards Crawford, Texas.
@txGreg,
GAAAaaa! How ridiculous. Next you'll be telling me you can't buy Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, TN. Oh wait....
That kenyan is not the sperm donor. Not until I see DNA evidence. I say he's an arabic koranimal. Very little black in him.
ReplyDelete@Bruce Bleu- You've just given me an idea for a joke. When the "tech surge" fails on Healthcare.gov 2.0, will it be referred to as a "son of a glitch?" (I'm absolutely using that punchline as soon as I can).
ReplyDelete@It's No Gouda- Why would anyone need to look up the Ontonagon Copper Boulder? Isn't it taught in schools anymore?! (Just kidding - I had to look it up).
@Grumpy- I grabbed your link and stuck it in today's commentary, for which I thank you. Your check is in the mail.
Regarding the $30 billion blown on the medical records system, I breathe a deep, sad sigh. For a small fraction of that amount, we could have hardened our electrical grid to protect us from EMP attack or solar flares (creating jobs at the same time).
And per your followup post, of course Obamacare is a Trojan Horse for single payer. Its sole mission is to destroy our current health insurance system - and it will.
@TrickyRicky- And note that in that group of 13 citizens representing "success stories" of Obamacare, only THREE of them had actually applied for a policy. The other 10 either "planned to" or simply thought it was a swell idea.
@Colby- I had to think hard about using scenes in which real people died (like the Hindenburg), but the situation calls for it. Lots of people are going to die because of Obamacare.
By the way, yesterday I heard that along with abortions, Obamacare requires plans to cover in vitro fertilization. It struck me that money and lives could be saved if instead of funding the slaughter of some babies and the creation of others, that the government just made introductions between pregnant women and parents willing to adopt.
@Mike Lester- Sebelius says that Obama knew nothing, and others are saying that even Sebelius knew nothing. It's like Benghazi all over again- no one is actually "responsible" for anything in Washington.
@mjloehrer- While Jon Stewart's politics annoy the crud out of me, he's undeniably a funny guy...and never moreso that when he's sticking it to liberals. I hope he does so more often.
@SusieBee- What's frightening is to reflect on how many of Stewart's viewers are hearing about the problems with Healthcare.gov for the first time while watching his show.
@Bobo- Now you've got me wondering if the Obamacare server farm is "powered by Solyndra?" (Hmm, I feel a cartoon coming on...)
@John the Econ- There are starting to be rumbles from the Left about accepting a delay in implementation to get things fixed. Like you, I strongly oppose any such measures: I want the public to experience this trainwreck NOW and in its full glory. I want people to be fined for not having insurance that they can't physically buy (much the way oil companies are fined for not using gas additives which don't exist). The pain from Obamacare isn't a "glitch" - the "glitch" is that the botched software has actually made the system transparent. No wonder Barry is mad.
@txGreg- Next, the EU will be saying that the village of Stilton will have to take down my statue! This is an outrage! An outrage!
@SC- Glad you enjoy the site!
Regarding Progressives and money, they don't actually care that spending more won't solve the problems; the process of spending money is their primary satisfaction, and sufficient to provide reinforcement to their egos that they're at least trying to do the right thing. It doesn't matter what they accomplish as long as they feel good about themselves.
@SC said "...the Progs will never learn that more $ won't solve all the problems."
ReplyDeleteBut here's the rub: Many of them don't care! They're well situated in the "feedback loop" that profits from seizing the wealth of the productive while producing absolutely nothing of value. It's far easier that participating in the free market, which is far more demanding in that you produce something of value in order to get paid.
If you are a mediocre intellect with few skills to offer the free marketplace, public education may suit you well. For most public schools, your pay is based not upon your productivity, but on how long you've been able to stay there without getting fired. More money spent on education benefits you no matter how little you produce.
http://rossieronline.usc.edu/u-s-education-versus-the-world-infographic/
We spend more than any other country on education, and get the least back per dollar spent. You're right, it isn't about the money, as far as we consumers are concerned. But if you are entrenched within the status quo, it's a great place to be.
And for the Progressives that don't understand this, they simply feel good in just that we do spend more than anybody else. It just means that they care, even it it's mostly wasted.
@Stilton, wouldn't it be nice if the HealthCare.gov site was still a train wreck going into next year's elections?
@Readers- Oops, I goofed! Obamacare apparently does not cover in vitro fertilization; I misheard a story Mrs. Jarlsberg was sharing over morning coffee and got it wrong. She has since corrected me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great cartoon. Right on mark as always Stil. All this happening in the country I (used to) love makes me so sad. I can't even watch the news anymore. And because of Obama and the useful racist idiots that put him there, all future bumper stickers will have to read "Life's A Glitch, And Then You Die."
ReplyDeleteY'all check out the Ramirez cartoon for today. His spirit must be connected to Stilton's.
ReplyDelete@Stilton, I believe that California is going to pass a bill that requires health care plans to cover fertility treatments........for same sex couples.
ReplyDelete(Head in hands, shaking slowly)
Only slightly off topic, if anyone was unsure of how little liberals care about people- even their own kids!!- the fact that Karmel(!!!) chose to get on a plane late in her pregnancy WITH DIABETES, knowing that that could result in a miscarriage oughta be all you need to see.
That the Administration didn't tell her thanks but no thanks you are after all PREGNANT AND HAVE DIABETES is proof enough to me that all the leftist scum care about is keeping thier grip on power, regardless of how high the bodies stack.
I hate them all with the white hot intensity of a thousand super nova suns.
Actually @Stilton, I do recall coverage for fertility treatments being debated for ObamaCare, but it didn't make the final cut. But already, there are no fewer than 15 states that already mandate insurance companies to cover infertility treatments. Not surprisingly, these are also states with some of the highest insurance premiums.
ReplyDeleteAll this really means is that the fertility industry didn't pony up enough cash to Democrats.
Which brings me to my real point: Nationalized health care is a boon for special interests in medicine. This is why a surprising number of people, health care companies, doctors and associations lobbied on behalf of ObamaCare. Soon, instead of having to lobby for their particular specialty in 57 separate states, special interests will only have to go to Washington to lobby for what they want; far more efficient for them. For consumers, this means less competition and even more corruption.
Just another aspect of ObamaCare you may now just have discovered.
Surely not! I'm shocked....
ReplyDeleteFake Faint
@Grumpy Curmudgeon said, Fake Faint...
ReplyDeleteI looked at that link and as I was writing a response (#779) it occurred to me as I was misspelling a word... this woman didn't "faint", she "feinted", an amazing wordplay to bring truth into the situation.
As my English son-in-law would say, "It's a right pile o' crap, it is!"
Good thing the advertisements (misinformation) being foisted on the unwashed masses at taxpayer expense promoting the joys of this boondoggle are not subject to Truth in Advertising laws. They are even too lame and in-your-face false for an infomercial!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of people who got fooled by the advertising:
ReplyDeleteThere are few things I enjoy more than when liberals get whacked squarely in the face by the very policies they themselves advocate. Take for example Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura from California, who "are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.
Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.
Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four. . . .
"I was laughing at Boehner--until the mail came today," Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.
"I really don't like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family's pocket each year, that's otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy." . . .
"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."
http://www.mercurynews.com/nation-world/ci_24248486/obamacares-winners-and-losers-bay-area
Is that a riot or what? They voted for Obama and ObamaCare, but they honestly thought that it would be someone else who was going to pay for it!
This just exposes the central conceit of ObamaCare, and socialism in general: Most of the people who supported it honestly believe that it will be someone else who would be footing the bill. Imagine their shock when they discover that the "someone else" was, in fact, themselves! This doesn't happen too often, so enjoy it!
John the Econ said:..."Progressive hubris that honestly believes that given enough power and money, that they can solve any and all problems."
ReplyDeleteReminded me of one of my favorite P.J. O'Rourke quotes: "Giving money and power to politcians is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys." What could go wrong?
@John the Econ:
ReplyDelete"Of course, I want people to have health care," Vinson said. "I just didn't realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally."
To quote Margaret Thatcher "The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money"
I had seen that article and when I reached that 'statement' I was ROFLOL.
And further, imagine the shock when they find that the 'co-pay' only applies AFTER they have met the deductible. Most of the 30M uninsured are gonna be hauling their little butts down to the ER to get the 'free' coverage they've always had.
ReplyDeleteFurther note, my wife works for one of the insurance companies, and they have been approached (begged is the word she used) by HHS to enter the market in Mississippi - seems no insurance company wants to do business in that state. By the way, how does Bubba out in the swamps of LA or in the Appalachians get on the web?
@John the Econ, I heartily agree with Rush Limbaugh that the country be divided in half, with the liberal/progressives (because amateurgressives isn't a word) doing their socialist programs with their OWN damned money, and conservatives doing true representative government likewise, and let's see who survives, and who is Greece! Citing the most apposite book in history, the entrance to the Garden of Eden is closed, and Utopia is not available this side of Heaven., so those looking for panacea will ALWAYS be disappointed.
ReplyDelete@It's No Gouda, They have the liberty in this country to give their OWN money to causes they believe in, but, as you well know, they do NOT personally give, (look at Jose Biteme and Juan Kerry's charitable giving!), but rather demand that everyone ELSE give, and THAT through THEM! If we were to make it mandatory for liberals to support charities (they shake us down for) with their OWN money, those charities would go "boobs-up", and, miraculously, it would be OUR FAULT, even though we didn't stop THEM from giving! Liberals want credit for being the ones who devise these grand plans, and then demand exemptions for coming up with the IDEA!
It's like when I was in High School. The kids in Canoga High had POS cars, and the kids at Taft High had daddy's year old Porsche or Cadillac. The kids at Taft ruined their cars because they had no investment in them, the kids at Canoga took care of their cars because THEY BOUGHT THEM... it was what they had achieved by themselves, and nobody was going to bail them out if they were irresponsible! Wow... that sounds like it could be a life lesson... or hate speech... hmmmmm.
Here you go folks! I was afraid this would happen...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2013/10/03/john_mcafee_on_obamacare_this_is_a_hackers_wet_dream.html
Ah yes, the "glitch that stole Christmas"
ReplyDeleteand jobs, and all the other holidays, and money for trivial things like food, mortgage, fuel, auto, electricity, water, booze, phone, etc, etc, etc
Stilton and others - Apple is offering a new os upgrade (Mavericks) for free, it's ok, but they upgraded Pages and Numbers, and the new versions must have gotten infected from Obamacare - they suck. I expected better from Apple - difficult to use and not backwards compatible so old documents and spreadsheets won't work properly.
ReplyDelete
