We weren't feeling hugely wordy today, so we're experimenting with giving you a generous brain dump of cartoons with minimal commentary...
As much traction as the Cecil story is getting, we're surprised that Obama hasn't quickly pencilled a "Save the Lions" clause into his deal to ram it through Congress. Because lions are clearly more lovable than Israelis, right?
Meanwhile, the ongoing barf-o-ramic Planned Parenthood story has everyone on the Left clamoring that killing is hunky-dory as long as the remnants don't go to waste. Which made us wonder just where Debbie Washitin-Schlitz did get her shaggy mane...?
Hey, Hope n' Change isn't heartless, and we feel bad about Cecil too. But this made us feel better.
Finally, we really hope that the discovery of a piece of aircraft wreckage may help finally solve the mystery of the missing Malaysia Airlines jet. We only wish that similar attention would be paid to other unsolved mysteries in which people died tragically (yes, Hillary - Benghazi does still matter to some of us).

You've done it AGAIN and maintained your pride. Loved the Lion / virgin connection
@Sergio-I see what you did there.
I LMAO'd this morning when I read a guy from Africa mentioned that why isn't is news
when Lions and Elephants kill villagers? Thanks for the grand slam today!
Great cartoons, as always!
I had a slightly different approach to Cecil the lion at my blog, The Political Commentator.
Moral Equivalence? Dead Lion vs. Dead Humans vs. Dead Region/World! :
http://politicsandfinance.blogspot.com/2015/07/moral-equivalency-dead-lion-vs-dead.html
It starts...
It has finally happened! The lemmings/sheeple around the United States have found an issue to be passionate about and it's not any of the ones that you might think!...
Mike
Ahhh, pictures and 'toons today I didn't have to strain my brain. And today's Friday, no work tomorrow. Yay. Oh, wait, I'm retired, no work everyday. Except for the honeydo list Hmmmm. Too bad all the news outlets are making such a fuss about Cecil the brave, friendly lion and not the body parts from murdered babies. Oh, well, anything to divert our attention from what's really wrong with the world.
Oh look, a lion!
Any distraction in a storm. In Zimbabwe, where Cecil was killed, the government has no comment and the citizens do not understand what all the fuss is about:
http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/obama-admin-get-bottom-cecil-lion
Just another observation; what if Cecil-the-friendly-lion had been named Adolf? Or Lucifer? After all, Cecil is such a cute name.
Dang it, Stilton...! As you frequently do, you made me laugh, cry, AND throw up in my mouth a little...all at the same time...!
You know, when we're all on our walkers (or antigravity frames by then), we're still going to be croaking "...if I had a son, he'd look like [insert anything at all here]..."
You're on a roll but this guy makes it way too easy.
So the US Fish and Wildlife Service want to "interview" Palmer. Not that it's any of their business, but it's not what you think. The White House is going to give him an award for saving their butts for another week. Anytime something trivial comes along to bump what's important off the nightly news the WH is relieved. Of course things might be a little different if it was discovered that Cecile Richards has trophy heads mounted in her office, reconstructed, of course, after being crushed. So where are all the flowers, cards, and protest signs outside Richards' office?
Stilt,
Ironic... if lamont had a cub he'd be a "lyin'"! It would ALSO prove his penchant for bestiality... (with Wookiees for example).
Well OBVIOUSLY the Dear Leader cannot do that. The lion might be Jewish (The Lion of Judah is the symbol of the Jewish tribe of Judah. According to the Torah, the tribe consists of the descendants of Judah, the fourth son of Jacob. The association between Judah and the lion, most likely the Asiatic lion, can first be found in the blessing given by Jacob to Judah in the Book of Genesis.) and that would upset his fellow Mohammedans.
@Sergio- I like the idea of Cecil disrupting the Islamic orgies in the afterlife and eating his fill.
@TrickyRicky- I saw what he did too, and encouraging the occasional lion pun is fine, but den it gets out of hand.
@Chish McFicken- Life can be brutal for all creatures, including humans. I wonder if people would be as sympathetic to Cecil if they saw pictures of him tearing the throats out of baby gazelles?
@Michael Haltman- I liked the commentary on your blog. The moral equivalence on display here is both baffling and disheartening. What ever happened to perspective?
@Fred Ciampi- Cecil's death has been such a huge distraction from real problems that Obama's team is probably already dispatching operatives to kill panda bears, baby seals, and adorable kittens at politically opportune times.
And you're right - if Cecil hadn't had a cutesy name, people wouldn't care as much.
@Geoff King- Moreover, Zimbabwe's King has had birthday feasts of elephant and lion, so it's not surprising they don't really understand the uproar.
@Bearcat- Trust me, I get the same combination of reactions. Bile is funny that way. And yes, the "if I had a son..." line is a classic which will certainly be around as long as Barry is.
@mjloehrer- I'll admit, between this administration and the media, I'm rarely starving for material.
@Boligat- One-time liberal darling Kermit Gosnell did keep trophies of the babies he aborted; he kept jars full of little hands and feet. Which should have been a pretty good clue that he wasn't so much a health provider as a serial killer who liked really small victims.
@Bruce Bleu- I'm pretty sure there's an animal husbandry joke to be made here...
@Duke of URL - I hadn't thought of the "Lion of Judah" connection. Though Iran might make the connection when, left to act on their own, the Israelis address the mullahs' nuclear ambitions.
No need to be wordy, Stilton. You just posted over 12,000 words if the old proverb is accurate. Fine work, and thank you!
Hannity had some moonbat from PETA on his radio program yesterday, and he was trying to make the comparison between Cecil and Planned Non-parenthood. The moonbat would have none of it. Apples and oranges and all that. She TOTALLY missed the point that human lives are priceless compared to lions or cows or chickens. The manner which Palmer shot the lion was chickenshit; the man is a turd, but hacking millions of babies to pieces while still alive, then selling their parts? Words come to mind, Auschwitz being one of them. But even that is not apples/oranges. The victims at the Nazi death camps at least had some sort of way to fight back, however small and limited. Yes, fighting back would get you beaten and killed, but it's more than those babies have. (rant over).
"...killing is hunky-dory as long as the remnants don't go to waste." Heck, Planned Non-Parenthood is just following Jeffrey Dahmer's example. He ended up getting beat to death with a broom handle... Not that I'd EVER harbor ill will for anybody at PP; perish the thought!
@Geoff King,
Distraction storm indeed! And the even more maddening part of it is, O'Liar and his band of misfits don't have to lift a finger. The MSM is well trained and eager.
@Michael Haltman, I've seen several people make that point. And like with so many things, I can distill it down to a simple economic argument: It's supply & demand; there are far more humans than lions. Kathryn Steinle and the countless, faceless, and politically irrelevant who are victims of thuggery and/or totalitarianism every day are more than plentiful. When we start running out of those people, perhaps we'll care more.
And that's why we call "economics" the "dismal science".
If Walter Palmer had only thought to send 5-or-6 figures to the Clinton Foundation, perhaps he wouldn't now have so much to worry about, like UBS. It's amazing how good things happen to people and corporations after they "give" to the Clintons.
Speaking of Hillary: In a bizarre and yet typically Clintonian response to the question the other day, Hillary Clinton said that she will not take a position on the Keystone XL pipeline until after she becomes president. Hillary's nonsensical argument for this is that her work on the issue as secretary of state and that she doesn't want to step on Obama's or John Kerry's toes. “If it’s undecided when I become President, I will answer your question.”
Is this the new modus operani for Democrat candidates? After Nancy Pelosi famously argued that "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it", we're now in an age where Democrats themselves will now say "You have to vote me into office in order to find out what I stand for."
My take? If I was a member of the anti-pipeline eco-left, I'd be carefully watching donations to the Clinton Foundation. If we all of a sudden see a spike of donations from Keystone players, we'll know where she really stands on the issue.
Not true, @Colby Muenster when you say that "human lives are priceless compared to lions or cows or chickens."
For example, California is about to run dry, and yet the state still runs roughly 1/2 of the available water out to sea in the name of saving a bait fish.
Colby's quote; "...killing is hunky-dory as long as the remnants don't go to waste." Reminds me of an exchange I heard many years ago between a Japanese whaling boat captain and a Greenpeace activist. The captain was trying to justify whaling and he said "When we kill a whale we use the whole whale, nothing is wasted". To which the activist replied "...except the whale."
Nice try, President O'Cry-Me-a-River.
Dr. J: Gracias as always for the great 'toons and cracking me up. Been a tough week in reality land, and the humor is greatly appreciated! As for Debbie Wasaman(isaman) Shultz: The only thing worse than being married to that screeching-squealing-repacious swamp sow; is getting into a face-to-face debate with her, and having her flailing liberal spittle cast upon your face willy-nilly. (please try NOT to think about that as you go to sleep tonight)
Econ John: Having lived(existed) here in Commiefornia my whole life, and seeing the water waste/political water shortages; just makes me wonder as a good friend of mine opined: "If the Democrats are SO worried about the Oceans rising, why are they dumping SO much water into the Pacific Ocean from the California River system?"
God Bless you all @ Hn'C, and have a great weekend!
@David in SoCal, at least you will be able to escape the rising oceans in your new high-speed train between Fresnopolis and Hooterville...
