Old Yellers

As if the fever-pitch excitement surrounding the primary season hadn't been ramped up enough, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders faced off last night in another Democratic debate which we definitely would have watched had we been tied to a chair, Clockwork Orange-style, with our eyes held open by surgical clips.

This was the first one-on-one debate between the two aging socialists, after Martin O'Malley shocked the nation this week by announcing that he'd also been a candidate this whole time without anyone noticing.

Hillary entered the debate with positive momentum, thanks to her infinitesimally small and statistically unlikely "win" in Iowa, as well as a suspiciously convenient "surprise" announcement by the State Department yesterday claiming that former Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell both had instances of classified information transmitted via personal email accounts.

Powell brushed off the allegation, adding "Should (Hillary) have had a private server? Did she use it for classified information? I don't know and I don't want to know." Which, frankly, we think would be a catchy campaign slogan that all of Hillary's followers can embrace.

BONUS: OLD FACEFULL

Following his visit to a mosque in Baltimore on Wednesday, Barack Obama spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday to prove that, in the best tradition of what makes America great, he can be totally obnoxious no matter which faith he's pandering to.

Last year, the president used the occasion to attack Christianity for violent acts committed during the Crusades. A sad, blood-soaked period which predated sensible gun control.

This year, Mr. Obama chose to describe our nation as one filled with "fear and anger" owing to the harsh voices on the Right, our overreaction to acts of terror, the vertigo-inducing nightmare of income inequality and, just as predicted in the final words of the Book of Revelation, "eroding shorelines."

Be it mosque, church, synagogue, or prayer breakfast, we find it impossible to take Barack Obama's faith or piety seriously. He displayed no interest in Christianity prior to seeking public visibility and political connections through Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church in Chicago - and later claimed not to have heard or remembered a single (anti-American) sermon.

But lest we seem too cynical, Hope n' Change would like to point out that next year's breakfast will be hosted by a different president. And to us, that's proof that prayers are eventually answered.

  1. Isn't that what Bill said to Lewinski, "To serve humanity you'll have to get on your knees".

  2. Stilton, two great cartoons today, plus a Clockwork Orange reference...and it's Friday to boot. What a way to start the day! I do pray that next year's National Prayer Breakfast is indeed lead by a different president. I don't take that for granted.

  3. Is that one of those 'heads I win, tails you lose' situations?

  4. In 2012, Øbeelzebub made a speech at the Catholic university in Georgetown. Prior to that speech, he made them cover up any reference to Jesus that might be visible on camera.
For his wednesday's puke-session at the Muslim Brotherhood supporting mosque, he allowed the arabic word for "Allah" to be not only visible but written 99 times directly behind him:

Can there actually be any doubt which religion he subscribes to?

  5. Seems I heard Dr. Carson was going to the National Prayer Breakfast, but I'll bet he was not allowed to speak this time.

If O'Liar manages to somehow declare himself President for Life (like he does in his dreams and fantasies), the National Prayer Breakfast will be held in one of those radical mosques and attendees will be required to face Mecca kneeling on a rug. Or perhaps attendees will be required to face HIM kneeling on a rug.

I don't believe he is a Muslim, actually. I think the only reason he favors Islam is it is so very contrary to the Judeo-Christian theology that he loathes. I honestly believe his faith lies only in himself.

  6. Colby. Your last paragraph in my view is exactly correct. islam at this time is an avenue to attack any and every thing he loathes. If it's called for he will willingly burn down islam to further his own agenda. And whistle as he heads to the driving range.

  8. Mrs Econ & I watched the end of the "Madoff" movie last night. Anyone else notice how both Bernies look alike, both in appearance and economic theory?

Hillary: Again, I've long since come to the conclusion that Bill & Hillary have made a deal with the devil, and will never serve a day of jail time for their transparent criminal activity. However, I don't expect their future in the hereafter to be as predictable...

Obama's Prayer Breakfast: The "great uniter" who once rallied against the "bitter clingers" of "guns and religion" bemoaned those who continue to stereotype Islam as a violent religion based upon the heinous acts of a supposedly small percentage. I mean, it's not like a single white guy walked into a church and killed a bunch of black folk, which was unabashedly extrapolated to an entire racist nation of white, male gun nuts. Heavens no.

The reality is that since 9/11, America has been an amazingly tolerant country. Our first impulse was not to wipe Islam from the continent. In fact, most attacks against mosques in this country have not been in retaliation for terrorism, but by fellow Muslims who are usually upset that those particular mosques are not violent enough, or part of the ongoing schism between Shia vs Sunni.

Polls now indicate that after 7 years of Obama, America is more divided than ever. It's hardly fulfillment of the "hope and change" meme we were sold 8 years ago. So it's pretty hard to swallow the President's piety now. He's done his best to create and widen these divides, and outside the radicals who thrive on this kind of chaos, few are better off for it.

  9. If barry was interested in facts rather than politics, he might notice that, according to the FBI, approximately 60% of religious-based hate crimes in the U.S. are directed at people of the Jewish faith. Muslims are targeted in just 15% of the crimes. (Source)

Statistics, of course, are suspect without context. Still, I don't see a huge tsunami of "fear and anger" rolling over Muslims in America.

And a hearty "AMEN" to our prayers being answered with barry's absence next year!

  10. I once heard a wise minister say, "All prayers are answered -- sometimes the answer is "no" "
It is hoped the prayer to remove Hill and Barry will be answered in the affirmative, and we won't be "Bern-ed" to death by Sanders

  11. Honestly, I'd much prefer Bernie to Hillary - He's not evil, just WRONG. *She* otoh, is both.

  12. Quite frankly, I agree with @Pete (Detroit). Bernie is as far left as we could have, but at least he has some sense of personal integrity, and obviously into politics for the money. (Spending a quarter-century in Congress and yet still having a net worth of less than a million actually takes counter-effort) On the other hand, Hillary's professed ideology is whatever suits her needs at the moment. Should she survive the nominating process, expect her to swing far-right after July. All of a sudden, guns won't be so bad and she'll rediscover free speech and property rights. The far-left will tolerate it, ironically knowing what a liar she is.

If Bernie becomes the candidate, and then President, I doubt he'd pander to the "middle" like Hillary would. And even if he does manage to get elected, it's unlikely he's going to get anything through Congress. The timid milquetoast GOP that didn't have the balls to hit back at America's first black President, will have no problem at all putting an old white guy socialist in his place. On the other hand, Hillary won't need Congress; she'll merely enlist and expand the corrupt bureaucracy that already has been converted into the left's shock troops, like the Lerner IRS and nobody will stop her. We'll irrredeemably be a banana republic.

  14. Pete and John,
At least Sanders is a known entity. Hillary would throw ANYBODY under the bus if it would advance her quest for power and money. Plus, should we be so blessed to have the hateful hag indicted and removed from the race, I don't think Sanders has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the general (although I thought that about O'Liar too!). Should Bernie (God forbid) make it all the way, I believe Mr. Econ is right. He wouldn't get crap done. Unlike O'Liar, he's an "in your face" socialist, not a sneaky snake in the grass.

    Sergio,
I remember one of my very favorite pastors once preaching that God had three answers to prayer: yes, no, and wait. "No" is tough to take, but "wait" is worse!
