While visiting Vietnam, Barack Obama took a short break from tourist activities, like posing for photos in front of the Hanoi Hilton and grinning while seated at an anti-aircraft gun, to give an impassioned speech promoting his Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal which would reduce or remove tariffs on Vietnamese-made goods like shoes when imported to America.
In this way, the president can help make sure that there will be plenty of inexpensive footwear available to Americans who are out of work because their manufacturing jobs have been exported to a communist country where people are willing to work for fish heads, rice, and (if they've read the president's autobiography) the occasional delectable piece of dog.
Mr. Obama went further towards (ahem) normalizing relations with Vietnam by ending a 50-year embargo on arms sales to the country- news which may well kill off any Vietnam veterans who have managed to survive the president's criminally inept VA Department.
China warns that the president's decision to sell weapons to Vietnam increases the likelihood of severe military repercussions. But at least it's good to know that when we all need to run for our lives, we'll have cheap shoes in which to do so.
BONUS: FOSTERING RUMORS
Well played, sir. Well played. |
Specifically, he mentioned the old (and not altogether unbelievable) allegations surrounding the highly mysterious death of Clinton White House aide and legal counsel Vince Foster, calling the details "very fishy." He then demonstrated his idea of taking the "high road" on such intrigues...
“I don’t bring [Foster’s death] up because I don’t know enough to really discuss it,” Trump admitted, “I will say there are people who continue to bring it up because they think it was absolutely a murder. I don’t do that because I don’t think it’s fair.”
We appreciate The Donald's principled approach to running a nice, clean campaign and look forward to him "not mentioning" the many other scandals and accusations associated with the Clintons in the near future.
After all, we need a dirty mud-slinging presidential campaign like Ron Brown needs a hole in the head. Well, another hole in his head.
This is hardly the first time Trump has brought up something "he would never stoop to bringing up". We may need to coin a new term for his particular flavor of sleaze.
ReplyDeleteHow is it sleazy to uncover what the Clintons and the media have covered up? It needs to be brought out into the open, and obviously no one else has the guts to do it. There is a long long long list of dead people connected to the Clintons. They have blood on their hands.
DeleteI concur...it needs to be something to do with "cud"....the thing that cows do. Bringing up something that needs to be chewed on some more.
ReplyDeleteaahhh! so Jim G. would like to ruminate and then masticate a bit?! that almost sounds nasty! actually, Trump "not" bringing stuff up seems to be quite common. and not just for Trump, either. Hillary might want to consider dropping out. there are enough dead people who were associated with her and Bill to put them BOTH away if someone was to do some honest investigating. and, as I recall , the statute of limitations doesn't run out on murder.
ReplyDeleteMa Barker has been my favorite characterization of Her Royal Lowness for a while. Evita has a certain resonance as well. They are both so much more succinct (and easier to type) than low-life, lying, feral, murdering, pustulant, commie whore.
ReplyDeleteDonald Tromp, always the master of apophasis.
ReplyDelete@George in Houtx -- The not-so-short list:
ReplyDeleteFood for Thought
Just a quick refresher course, lest we forget what has happened to many " friends " of the Clintons.
1 - James McDougal -
Clintons convicted Whitewater partner died of an apparent heart attack,
while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr's
investigation.
2 - Mary Mahoney -
A former White House intern was murdered July 1997 at a Starbucks
Coffee Shop in Georgetown .. The murder happened just after she was to
go public with her story of sexual harassment in the White House.
3 - Vince Foster -
Former White House councilor, and colleague of Hillary Clinton at
Little Rock's Rose Law firm. Died of a gunshot wound to the head, ruled a
suicide.
4 - Ron Brown -
Secretary of Commerce and former DNC Chairman. Reported to have died by
impact in a plane crash. A pathologist close to the investigation
reported that there was a hole in the top of Brown's skull resembling a
gunshot wound. At the time of his death Brown was being investigated,
and spoke publicly of his willingness to cut a deal with prosecutors.
The rest of the people on the plane also died. A few days later the air
Traffic controller commited suicide.
5 - C. Victor Raiser, II - Raiser, a major player in the Clinton fund raising organization died in a private plane crash in July 1992.
6 - Paul Tulley -
Democratic National Committee Political Director found dead in a hotel
room in Little Rock , September 1992. Described by Clinton as a "dear
friend and trusted advisor".
7 - Ed Willey -
Clinton fundraiser, found dead November 1993 deep in the woods in VA of
a gunshot wound to the head. Ruled a suicide. Ed Willey died on the
same day his wife Kathleen Willey claimed Bill Clinton groped her in the
oval office in the White House. Ed Willey was involved in several
Clinton fund raising events.
8 - Jerry Parks -
Head of Clinton's gubernatorial security team in Little Rock .. Gunned
down in his car at a deserted intersection outside Little Rock Park's
son said his father was building a dossier on Clinton He allegedly
threatened to reveal this information. After he died the files were
mysteriously removed from his house.
9 - James Bunch -
Died from a gunshot suicide. It was reported that he had a "Black
Book" of people which contained names of influential people who visited
prostitutes in Texas and Arkansas
10 - James Wilson - Was found dead in May 1993 from an apparent hanging suicide. He was reported to have ties to Whitewater..
I agree with Mike/Proof, also. Trump has played this "I won't bring it up" trick too often. How transparent can he be? Yes George, the Clintons both belong in prison not only for the many strange deaths but other assorted felonies.
ReplyDeleteWe like Donald Trump because he's not afraid to bring up the "omg don't talk about that" topics.
ReplyDeleteTrump is making a joke of it; he & we all know he's bringing it up. So? And everything in that statement is true; he doesn't think it fair but does it because he's in this dirty campaign to win. I won't mention any NAMES of who well-deserves this kind of treatment but their initials are Bill and Hillary.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
DeleteI, for one, am very glad that he's bringing these things up. And I don't care how he does it. I think he knows that there are a lot of new voters who are totally unaware of the Clintons record. With the young people here is that Hillary is the most qualified candidate. She needs to be exposed and so does her husband, since she has said he will have a major role in her administration.
Suicide by Clinton is what I would call it. Besides Vince Foster, many associates of Hitlery and Slick Willy have died mysteriously. Some by multiple gunshots that were still ruled a suicide:

For once in my 73 years I am looking forward to the Slinging-of-the-Mud. The Hildabeast and her Man Guy have enough 'Mud' to fill the Grand Canyon. The Donald? Not so much. And I won't even say what I think of barry-the-POS because I'll have the SUVs with the mini guns coming up my driveway. 'Nuff said. I'm making my coffee with moonshine this morning...............
ReplyDeleteI've been withholding an opinion on the TPP because, frankly, I'm not familiar enough with it to offer what I'd consider a worthwhile opinion. Most of what you read about it in mainstream media is useless, because most of that is either written by ignoramuses, or is just regurgitated spin from ignoramuses with agendas. Suffice it to say that with any trade deal, there will be winners and there will be losers. The question ultimately is, will the deal be a net benefit to the US in that there will be many more winners than losers?
ReplyDeleteFor example, if it were not for free trade, it would be highly unlikely that you'd be reading this post right now. Very few people would be able to afford the expensive and complex devices and access to the infrastructure that the Internet uses and we take for granted today.
Generally in the long-term, free trade is good overall. In fact, it's one reason that even through the worst recession since the '30s, America's want for material goods was not very lacking. It's also why global poverty today is the lowest it has ever been, ever.
That said, if we were a country that exclusively saw itself as a provider inexpensive and low-margin goods made primarily by cheap labor, I'd say that such a deal with Vietnam would be a loser. But since it seems to be a goal of the left to import millions of low-margin cheap labor, we need low-margin work for them to do. So this does seem contrary, and it's easy to see why this pact is unpopular with all three major Presidential candidates.
As for selling high-margin weaponry to Vietnam, I can only suppose that it's a message to China. Probably too little too late.
Trump: This will be the fun part (if there is to be any "fun" part) of the campaign. Finally, we're going to get to see the Clintons get the kind of unceasing comeuppance that for decades the beltway establishment has refused to impose upon them. For those under 40, allot of this is going to be brand new. Most people are familiar with "Monica", but are not so familiar with the real sins of the Clintons and the decades of rank corruption and collateral damage that are features of their lives.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of, Clinton ally and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is in trouble:
"McAuliffe — a longtime ally of Bill and Hillary Clinton and a prolific fundraiser — worked as an unpaid director for the Clinton Foundation until he was elected governor. The official said the inquiry includes McAuliffe’s time on the board... Wang is a donor to both McAuliffe and the foundation. West Legend Co., the New Jersey affiliate of Rilin Enterprises, a Chinese firm led by Wang, gave $120,000 to McAuliffe’s 2013 campaign and inauguration. His $2 million pledge to the foundation drew attention last year, first from CBS News and then other outlets, because of his connections to the Chinese government — both as a member of the National People’s Congress and as a contractor entrusted to build China’s embassies."
It is curious that a Obama Justice Department that has ignored so much Democratic misbehavior would all of a sudden be interested in this during an election year.
But there is at least one constituency that apparently Hillary can count on "Ugly Women":
"Prominent Hillary Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell is coming under fire for suggesting that "ugly women" will help doom Donald Trump's chances in November. Rendell, a former Pennsylvania governor, was making a point to The Washington Post about Trump's untoward comments about unattractive women.
'There are probably more ugly women in America than attractive women. People take that stuff personally.'"
Ya think, Ed?
That's the one thing that I do like about Donald Trump: He brings out topics into the room that would otherwise be kept under the rug.
ReplyDelete"I don’t know enough to really discuss it" has never stopped Herr Trumpmeister before.
ReplyDeleteHe does know enough – that's his way of getting the conversation started and putting the focus on her miserable character. Since they've managed to characterize him as a sleaze, another Hitler, and a crooked businessman, it's fair as can be to punch back. Say what you want about what Trump might do in the future, he hasn't murdered anyone and he hasn't raped anyone.
DeleteThe Clinton's vices have been known for years but aren't generally reported by MSM. Trump's phony disclaimers are being reported because he is who he is and everything that comes out of his big mouth is big news to the MSM , but none of it is new or unknown. This presidential race has become nothing but a disgusting game show and isn't the least bit funny.
ReplyDeleteactually, Judy, I think it's the most entertaining election I can remember. finally someone is telling the truth instead of keeping it covered up. And he's doing it with some flair – I like it, and so do a lot of other people
ReplyDeletePaladin...
ReplyDelete"Trump... under the rug" ArAr!!!
I see what you did there! Hair-Larious, that is!!!
There are two things I like about Trump. One, he's not Hillary Clinton and two, he's not afraid to expose the years of graft, corruption, crime, pay for play and possible murderous activities of that vile, malevolent couple. And in doing so he will expose the complicity of the mainstream media in covering for these wretched people. The same press who knowingly reported a false story on George Bush in order to affect his reelection, who dug up a racist rock on Rick Perry's former ranch, who breathlessly reported on the horrible crime of Mitt Romney holding a classmate down and cutting his hair, who dug in Sarah Palin's trash and thoroughly trashed her in the process, will finally be exposed for THEIR corruption and it's not a minute too soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd, if all'yall remember the de-bates with McCain and Romney VS oboma, Mc and Rom were the biggest milquetoasts I have seen in a presidential debate. I vividly remember Reagan in his debate with jimmy-the-carter. Ron had James for lunch. Trump is much the same way. And, Donald Trump is perhaps one of the finest businessmen to come down the Pike in a long time. That's the type we need to run our country.
ReplyDelete@Mike aka Proof- Trump didn't invent the technique, of course. Plenty of politicians demonstrate their "decency" by listing the negative qualities of their opponent that they won't talk about.
ReplyDelete@Jim G- I really like the cud analogy. All the more so when the accusations are against this particular cow.
@George in Houtx- People who get sideways with the Clintons do have a funny habit of turning up dead in interesting ways. Maybe Hillary plans to beat the statute of limitations via presidential self-pardon...?
@TrickyRicky- Those are handy abbreviations.
@Dr. Strangelove- I'll admit I had to look up "apophasis" and am glad I did so. "A rhetorical device wherein the speaker or writer brings up a subject by either denying it, or denying that it should be brought up." Spot on!
@Gang of One- A very helpful list. Especially for anyone who didn't get my Ron Brown "hole in the head" joke. Brown's body was also cremated with amazing speed, and medical records associated with his death were (ahem) "lost."
@Judi King- I'll admit that Trump does a lot of this and I hated it when he used the technique to defame his conservative opponents. But when he uses it on Hillary, I don't mind as much.
@IGnatius T Foobar- That's certainly a big part of his appeal. Frankly, I hope he drags EVERY Clinton scandal back out into the light of day.
@Rod- Exactly. There is no blow so low (say that 3 times fast) that the Clintons don't deserve it.
@Geoff King- You've got to admire the determination of people who shoot themselves multiple times or stab themselves in the back to commit suicide.
@Fred Ciampi- If and when it gets down to Trump and Hillary, I say let the mud fly. We've already established that this is going to be an election which boils down to passions and media manipulation. Might as well make some popcorn and enjoy the show. Moonshine goes with popcorn, right...?
@John the Econ- Although I'm always happy to kick Barry in the jewels, I agree that there's no degree of protectionism which can continue to protect American workers from competition with the world economy. Americans aren't willing to pay more (potentially a lot more) for goods labeled "Made in America." Neither legislation nor tariffs can change that - and Trump's declaration that he'd boost American jobs by creating huge new tariffs on goods from Asia is preposterous. He'd essentially destroy the buying power of those who are already living in the margins.
Cheap labor (human or machine) is now a fact of life. Any strategy which doesn't accept that will fail.
Regarding mud-slinging, I love the idea of Trump revealing all of these scandals to a new generation, but so far the commercials his campaign has released have been clumsy and ham-handed. He needs some smart media people who can make tell-all videos which will speak to today's short attention span audiences and tell the whole Hillary story.
Re: McAuliffe, I hope to see the SOB go down. I've loathed this guy for eons.
@Paladin- I like it when he brings out the dirt if there's substance to it. But when The Donald starts talking about Lyin' Ted's father hanging out with Lee Harvey Oswald he sounds like a moron. And that's my fear: at a critical moment, he may declare that as president he'll open the sealed Weekly World News files to get the real story on Bat Boy and Hillary's alien baby.
@Faith D- You nailed it!
@Judi King- Actually, a lot of the Clinton scandals ARE unknown to people who are too young or too insulated to have heard them before.
@Linda McWilliams- I pretty much agree with everything you're saying.
ReplyDelete@Stan da Man- I resisted the urge to "go there" but it had to be done.
@Shelly- I agree with pretty much everything you're saying, but tend to doubt that the media will be held to any degree of real accountability for protecting the Clintons all these years.
@Fred Ciampi- I hope you're right.
I admit that much of the clueless generation have never heard of the Clinton's murderous rampage, etc. because they have never been taught much of history and some weren't even born yet. Some of them might actually vote. But Trump's sly manipulation of the MSM is nothing but a campaign ploy. The media has been trying to brainwash "we the people" for decades and this is just another example. Trump, the master manipulator, is using his celebrity to his advantage and the media is a willing accomplice. Hopefully the ploy will get through to the clueless and some of them will vote against Hilliery.
ReplyDeleteAw c'mon Stilton, get in the TRUMP PARADE. Think of your alternatives?
ReplyDeleteThere is a term used(maybe fell of use) called "dead heading." An old railroad term and sometimes used in the airline industry. It's when one rides free. If you should not pick a side in this historical/hysterical election and DO NOT vote, then don't complain about the ride afterward. You chose a free ride without paying the fare...voting.
Choose a horse and ride it! If you change horses in the middle of the stream, you'll probably get your ass wet...but remember, you're riding a horse and not a Democrat! :-O)
@Judi King- I agree that Trump's use of apophasis (my word for the day) is basically sleazy and I dislike it. Except when used on Hillary.
ReplyDelete@Walter1694cir- Oh, I won't be dead heading...nor will I give up my precious right to bitch about whatever happens in the next 4 years. But before saddling up, I want to make sure the wild-eyed orange horse with the wind-tossed blond mane isn't nicknamed "widowmaker."
ReplyDeleteNoted this Thursday morning with interest; & maybe what many entrenched bureaucrats should expect from him (which is why they oppose him): Trump tried a new national political director for a few weeks. It wasn't working out, & Wiley is gone. We need more of that. Much media spin will ridicule Trump; I see it as a plus.
ReplyDeleteCan't WAIT for the Bernie / Trump "debate" debacle
ReplyDeleteWaht a drinking game... "Do a shot"...
