SPECIAL BULLETIN: Nobel Peace Prize

Hope n' Change Alert!

Perhaps to make up for the president's embarrassing 4th place finish in the competition for the Olympic games, judges in Oslo have just awarded him the Nobel Peace Prize for...uh...hang on...he must have done something...oh yeah, for traveling around the globe saying that the United States is an arrogant, intolerant, environment-destroying, war mongering disgrace to the world community!

Of course, he also scored "Peace Prize" points for backing down from challenges from North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China, and for his continuing efforts to lose wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The president says he'll be traveling to Oslo to receive the award, but that he's accepting it on behalf of "all Americans." No thanks, Mr president - this one is all yours.

  1. My God, I don't recognize my country anymore. What a sad and bad joke.

  2. I love your cartoons, but could you edit this one. I don't believe Mother Teresa would ever swear like this--in life or after.
    Thanks.

  3. Kathy, you're quite right - Mother Teresa wouldn't swear like this (or even "implied swearing" which is what's actually on the page).

Unfortunately, it's the strength of the reaction - swearing and all - which is part of the punchline; it's clearly unthinkable for Obama's "works" after only 11 days in office (when the nomination was made) to compare to Mother Teresa's lifetime of sacrifice and service to others. Saint that she was, she wouldn't be mad about it...but Hope n' Change is, which is why the cartoon turned out the way it did.

At this point, the cartoon as originally posted has already escaped onto the Internet and can't effectively be changed everywhere. But please know that your comment is appreciated, taken very seriously, and we'll do our best to respect the beliefs and sensitivities of our readers. Well, unless they're liberals...

  4. Obama is now in good company--former winner of this great award include: Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Yasser Arafat, Kofi Annan and other lesser know fools. So before long Air Force One will be winging toward Oslo or is it Stockholm, at the tax-payers expense. Obama said he would be giving the million dollar plus prize to charity---the best charity at this time is to put it in the nations coffers which he has emptied.

  5. Another good one sir. I wish I would have come up with the whole America Bashing thing a long time ago. There is a nice cash prize with the Nobel Capitulation Award.
