Bait and Switch
After the past 20 months, many Americans were afraid that this administration didn't know how to talk tough or get tough when it comes to meeting and defeating an enemy. But all that changed when the Whitehouse announced their appointment of a new Czar to supervise our nation's war on...the Asian carp.
In response to the appointment of John Goss to head the $80 million dollar "War on Fish," Democrat senator Dick Durbin said: "This is a serious challenge, a serious threat. When it comes to the Asian carp threat, we are not in denial. We are not in a go-slow mode. We are in a full attack, full-speed ahead mode. We want to stop this carp from advancing."
And in fairness, the Asian carp will do untold damage if it's allowed to continue migrating into the Great Lakes - edging out the native species of fish. But does that make it fair to target a single group of fish who have no greater wish than to live the aquatic American dream?
The illegal alien fish, who prefer to be called "undocumented denizens of the deep," are being singled out by authorities in ways that clearly parallel Arizona's much-reviled immigration laws. Accusations of "piscene profiling" are flying because only Asian carp are being targeted, which is clearly discriminatory.
Frankly, we're glad that this administration has finally taken a firm stand against invaders who, despite having no bad intentions, cause enormous economic damage to our country. We're just sorry they'll never show the same courage when dealing with species who can vote.

I hope the fish czar confuses an Asian Carp with the fish-faced Nancy Pelosi and sends her anal fin downstream.
ReplyDelete"Undocumented denizens of the deep"? Now, THAT'S funny!! N'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk!
ReplyDeleteNow, as long as none of those fish are name Pedro or Juan, they will be stopped, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThis is, however, shaping up to be another Deep Water Horizon episode in the 0bama response to what's up around him: this has been being SCREAMED about for months as the carp were being found progressively nearer the Great Lakes. Granted, the issue is decades old, but it will be 0bama who will be noted for the end result, and it will be the lethargic response, mirroring the oil spill response, that will another identical brick in building this administration's ultimate legacy.
As a Hoosier who fishes a river that empties into Lake Michigan, and who admits to being sinoicthyophobic, this is a serious matter to me. Still, I appreciate your humor in addressing this regime's schizoid approach to various threats we face as a nation. Good on ya, Stilton.
ReplyDeleteSo, exactly how many lawyers will be dispatched to deal with this menace?
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get a Bedbug Czar?
ReplyDeleteBTW, another czar??! Two things are in play with all these stinking czars: First, it is a way to do an end-run around Congress (and Congress seems happy to not have the responsibility they were elected for). Second, it works towards Obama's goal of using regulation by unaccountable bureaucrats in lieu of legislation that would come under scrutiny. By the time the czars issue their edicts, it's too late to argue.
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, I guess my above comment was really just a single, continuous point, not two. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show, there are three types of people in this world; those who can do math and those who can't.
These fish and many others are a serious problem, but their own Czar? The whole Czar concept is an unconstitutional menace -- but we have too long allowed things to fester. This is just one more symptom.
ReplyDeleteI've been breaking toes and stepping on the odd nail etc etc for years and ignoring it. One foot has been numb on the bottom for almost 4 years as well, feels like I've stepped in poop or mud, but I look and nothing's there. Working since 13/14 and full time and overtime since 15 on concrete floors in cheap sneakers my arches collapsed completely way back. foot prints looked like Donald Duck. What the point?
Last month I sprained my ankle for about the 200th time, but it swelled up (stopped swelling for a mere sprain 20 years ago) then the whole lower leg. I had a little movie thing I wanted to do so I made sort of flexicast with tape and clay and kept going. Finally got to a doctor and he says get out of my office. You're gonna die pretty quick and you're NOT doing it here. Sends me to the ER and I have a bad staph infection that almost shuts down my liver. For the next month I can't feel my legs or close my hands for 3-4 hours each morning.
THAT is the shape of our government. We have ignored little things, medium things, everything for years and years and now we get what we gots. So many and so much wrong you can't even point out anything in particular. A Bozo in charge and a freakazoid running the house who would give him ANYTHING, but he does't even know what to ask for. Not in particular. He never wrote a single law so he just kind of whines for more power. More power. More power... Carp in the lakes? More power. Do we have a tornado czar yet? Bottled water czar? We are about to start a health insurance system that cannot POSSIBLY LAST 2 YEARS. You don't have to buy insurance until you have cancer or a car wreck and then... no limits on payments and it can't be taken away once you're sick. Any sixth grader can see that is impossible. Remember the drinking water law? Sounded great except that not a single drop of water on the planet was legal and no one knew how to create a single drop that WOULD be legal. Sounded good though. Can I suggest something? There have been a lot of problems with prosti's and Pol's. How about a whore czar?? I'm available.
Does anybody remember all the "dryer than a popcorn fart" farms in California that couldn't get water because the government shut it off to save fish that WERE NOT EVEN INDIGENOUS TO THE AREA!? Are these carp indigenous?
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand.... Yes, these carp are a menace, but no more than our elected knuckleheads. How about an "elected knucklehead" czar?
No, Hoosier: there are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who don't...
ReplyDeleteMoronpolitics: Spot on! 0bama uses "czars" to circumvent the legislature - and his constitutional responsibility. You'd thing the legislators would be on him like piranhas on self-mutilator - but since they're all pretty much in bed with him, I guess you could start your first task as Whore-master - er, I meant Whore Czar there...
Moronpolitics and Emmentaler- We're fairly sure that you can't get the position of "Whore Czar" until Obama officially steps down from the position.
ReplyDeleteI wanna be the Bar Czar since the "annoying one" already has claim to being the Biz Czar one.
ReplyDeleteCarp and Democrats have something in common, about the only way you can stand them is to cut the mud vein out of 'em.
ReplyDeleteA Bottom Feeder Czar?
ReplyDeleteHe will never get out of Washington. The work load there will do him in.
