Fore Year Term

It's an odd thing about golf jokes: golfers find them to be absolutely hilarious, while everyone else finds them to be painfully un-funny.

For instance, the 54,000 Americans who lost their jobs last month don't seem to be laughing, nor do the millions of other out of work Americans who are getting increasingly testy as they watch their high-living president seemingly spending
more time playing golf than working on solving their problems.

And it's not just their imaginations. As of mid-July, Barack Obama had already spent over 200 hours of his presidency playing golf - the equivalent of
five 40-hour work weeks.

To be absolutely fair, we
support the president's golf addiction because the more time he stays away from the Oval Office, the less damage he can do. But perhaps he should find some other way to fill all his free time, just to make it look like he cares about the country.

Might we suggest
fiddle lessons?

it occurs to me that him playing golf is not only safe for him, but easier on his security detail when compared to that 'other' great Democrat pastime ...... skirt-chasing! of course, if he DID take up chasing skirts, Michelle could show him another use for the golf clubs!

I disagree that his forays into the rough to look for his balls keeps him from doing harm. Since he has turned over the keys to his socialist golf cart to the toadying progressives in his foursome, he does not actually have to be around, except to sign the bills into law. They were already written years ago and have been kept, hermetically sealed, in a mayonnaise jar in Stalin's refrigerator waiting for the chance to unleash them on a properly primed sheeple. That chance came in 2009. We can only pray that the sheeple are ready to bleat a different tune this November. If they aren't, and we don't hack our way out of this trap, we may not get a Mulligan in 2012. (I know, my metaphors mix like oil and beer)

And they were upset that Bush took work home to do on the ranch?!

I've never heard of a President taking so much free time as Obama does. Wow.

But Suzy, he is not a real President. That is why he has so much free time.

While Obama does his "tee" time, let's double our efforts to do some "tea" time before November 2.

Angry Hoosier Dad -

Here's a little ray of sunshine - today's Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll hits the highest level of Strong Disapproval (47%) & the lowest Approval Index Daily Rating (-23%) recorded so far during this Presidency.

I'm not sure what the lag time is for poll results, but it is my personal observation that Obama's positive numbers trend up when is on vacation, and trend down when he is back at the White House. Notice that the above numbers are a week after he returned from vacation. Last week, those numbers were 40% Strong Disapproval & -12% Approval Index Daily Rating.

Seems like seeing him in campaign mode or acting like a celebrity boosts his numbers, but when it comes to doing Presidential things, people get turned off.

Obama's party has very little (if any) success stories to campaign with. None of the democratic political candidates can even mention obamacare or the stimulus policies when they stump.
There comes a point in time when you go from just wondering if something is the way it is, to being SURE thats the way it is. I do believe, for a lot of people, NOW is that point in time when the wondering is over, and the folks are SURE that he aint THE ONE!
Maybe a bit of scripture applies here....James 4:7....Resist the devil and he will flee from you!

Just found this from, of all places, the New York Times pages....yeh, reality is setting in!

As Democrats brace for a November wave that threatens their control of the House, party leaders are preparing a brutal triage of their own members in hopes of saving enough seats to keep a slim grip on the majority.

In Missouri,Democratic Representative Ike Skelton has rarely run hard-hitting advertisements during 34 years in office, but he sternly accuses his opponent in one of not supporting the troops. In Texas, Representative Chet Edwards, using the word “lie” three times, accuses his rival in an advertisement of claiming that he voted in a recent election when polling records said he did not. In New Jersey, Representative John Adler accused his challenger, also in an advertisement, of buying a donkey so he could call his house a farm and get a tax break on it.

“In 2008, there was this sense of hope and this sense of being able to change the world,” said Representative Zack Space, Democrat of Ohio. “A lot of that enthusiasm doesn’t exist now, and I think a lot of that is a result of having been in a recession for two years.”

“Voters,” he said, “will ultimately hold the party in power responsible,” said Pennsylvania Republican Mike Fitzpatrick.

Pryorguy- In your citation above, the Democrat says that "in 2008, there was this sense of hope and this sense of being able to change the world." He blames the recession for that not being the case now, but we disagree.

Rather, it is because of the changes enacted by this president and the Democrat super-majority that hope has all but disappeared. And, for that matter, they're also the reason the recession has dragged on, and dragged the nation down.

Stilton:
Stop calling it a "recession". That's such a negative term. It the "new normal". Nobody can object to Obama playing golf while the rest of us learn to cope with the "new normal". Detached? Heavens, no.
