March Madness
After assuring the world that he was "heartbroken" about the devastation in Japan, Barack Obama went golfing and delivered a comedy monologue for the Gridiron Press Club. Later, he used the entirety of his weekly radio address to talk about possible government actions to address the serious, urgent crisis in...pay inequality for women.
But today, all of that is changing. Because today the president will appear on national television...to give his NCAA College Basketball picks (having actually taped this crucially important announcement yesterday).
Hope n' Change could have a lengthy editorial today about presidential appearances and priorities, about allies and alliances, and about simple human decency and compassion. But frankly, we don't have the time, strength, or the inclination to document the fact that Barack Obama is a soulless bastard.
Especially since it's not necessary to explain anything which is now appallingly obvious to the entire world.

Soulless bastards everywhere are (rightfully) offended by the comparison to the Empty-Suit-in-Chief.
ReplyDeleteSoulless Bastard....
ReplyDeleteExactly right my friend.
How pathetic are we as a nation that more than 40% of us still like, respect and believe in this "soulless bastard"? You can chalk it up to not paying attention, but that excuse never bought me a thing when I was in grade school and I don't think people should get a pass on it now. America became great because we had a divinely-inspired Declaration of Independence and Constitution recognizing our God-given freedoms to pursue our dreams, but only with our eyes wide open. Too many of us now go through life with eyes tightly shut, expecting to be cared for by a government that equates "care" with control. To preserve our sanity we may need to forget these fools are our countrymen and forge ahead without them. We can revive the spirit of revolution without the violence of the past. The rise of the Tea Party from seemingly nothing is a sign that this spirit lives on. At the founding of our country only about a third of the population believed in the cause of freedom. It may be the same today. Let's see what we can do with that.
ReplyDeleteHoosier, I don't understand the 40%. I assume that 40% is those still getting government handouts, and those who are only saying they like Obama because they hate conservatives so much, that they don't care what happens as long as conservatives have no power. I don't think anyone common sense and decency could still honestly think Obama is a good President.
ReplyDeleteHe's worthless.
And honestly...any white President acting like this would have already been impeached. Everyone is too scared to impeach a half-black one. Sick of it, already.
On the other hand, he's sort of proving that we really don't need an all powerful president who takes care of all problems. The less he does and the less he says somehow makes me happier. Or am I just looking for a silver lining because I like shiny stuff?
ReplyDeleteJim, there's a lotta homeless types that would take ANY kind of lining... both in Japan and here at home.
ReplyDeleteSuzy, largely due to the fact that he's actually done vrey little, I don't think he's acutally DONE anything impeachable..
Personally, I suspect that a lot fo the 40% are indeed parasitical leeches that realize he's their best hope to keep the money rolling. The rest are genuine socialists who approve of what he's doign, and 'soft libbies' (fuzzy thinkers) who 'want to feel good' about 'soing something' "to help (insert victim)"
Agreed, disturbing, disgusting, and pathetic.
And yet, if certain very possible circumstances exist as of November 2012, our halfrican-american president could well get re-elected. Elections are not focused on qualifications or records anymore (if they ever really were); they are popularity contests on par with American Idol or Survivor. How else could this least-experienced of individuals get elected in the first place?
ReplyDeleteBut right now, a friend is hurting and needs our help. Please give as you are able to the relief agency of your choice.
It's "PRESENT" all over again!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you expect?
@Angry Hoosier Dad- Amazing as it is, there's a large number of people in this country who just love this president and think he's doing a great job. Not all of them are on the dole, and not all of them are (technically) idiots. But all of them share the trait of basing their feelings on emotion rather than logic or facts, and on self-interest rather than a belief in this country.
ReplyDelete@Jim Hlavac- America has never needed an all-powerful president to solve our problems. But we do need a president who believes in the virtues that made our country great, and has the capacity to inspire us to solve problems on our own. And Obama isn't that guy.
@Chuck- I shudder to think how likely it is that Obama will get re-elected in 2012. I predict that the campaign is going to be singularly ugly, because the stakes are so high: the outcome will determine whether our nation, as we've known it, can survive.
And thank you for the reminder for people to donate to the charity of their choice, if possible, for the people of Japan. I've included a link to the Salvation Army today, but there are many good charities out there.
@Joaquin- Indeed, Obama is the "Present of the United States."
wow. i get caught filling out a bracket at my job and i get repremanded.
ReplyDeleteseriously, this was kind of cute when he was first elected. he has pressing issues on his hands right now that need action.
you ever see his picks? he takes relatively NO chances in his brackets. psychologically, it is very revealing.
@drozz- I'll leave the analysis of his picks to you, as I wouldn't know the NCAA from the NAACP. There is a difference...right?
ReplyDeleteI talk to everybody all the time. I talk to every counter person check out person bag boy blah blah blah... you can't get 2 bucks out of me for my parking at the hospital without a "How do you think the President is doing??"
ReplyDeleteYou want to see 4 more years of Obama? If not, follow my simple rules. Talk about what he does. never ever ever call him Obama. He is "the Presidnent" OR "Our President" if you know the person. Remember the thing that will get him out is NOT Blacks voting AGAINST HIM. That is NOT going to happen. Not with "real" Black people. What will get him out is if they "vote with their butts". If they don't get off the couch to "vote for that fool". "Tht fool" is the key. Forget policy. It's EMBARRASMENT that is the key. Meltdown in Japan, he's doing NCAA picks. STRET FIGHTING IN SAUDI ARABIA -- he gives a speech on people who made fun of his goofy ears. And on and on and on and on....
These means you have to KNOW what his picks are... Maybe you don't care, but if you don't know then it looks like you are just picking on THE PRESIDENT. Mention the Earthquakes, You know you can't get those iodine pills, The President likes Duke, Kansas, Ohio State and Pittsburgh. Hey, those were all the number one seeds, weren't they?? He's just playing it safe, man. I could have picked THEM. Seen the price of Gas? Why can't they drill in the Gulf yet? I went to Galveston there ISN'T any oil slick. OHIO STATE?? I don't think so....
Stilt--
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between the NCAA and the NAACP. While both permit contributions from all colors, etc., the latter group qualify as "community organizers" limited to actually representing only the darkest hues and being in competition with Jackson & Sharpton in extor... er, "fund raising efforts". The former group, on the other hand, makes its place in society as the perpetual "playground lady" who insists that everyone "play fair" ... and, of course, only the "playground lady" has a right to decide what "fair" means.
Then again ... deciding what "fair" means is what the NAACP insists they do.
Maybe you were right all along -- there's just not difference between the two.
"it's not necessary to explain anything which is now appallingly obvious to the entire world."
ReplyDeleteWould that that were true :(
moronpolitics- outstanding points.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid when election time rolls around, if gasoline and other necessites is still sky-high, Obama will be blamed and voted out. I do want the cost of living to go down, but am afraid if it does, he will get the credit. Worthless jerk!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to see the extent of the devastation in Japan, visit http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/13/world/asia/satellite-photos-japan-before-and-after-tsunami.html.
ReplyDeleteClick the blue bar and move it right or left to see before and after photos.
@robsan19- Those scrolling pictures are just nightmarish. For the poor souls in the path of the tsunami, there was really no place to run and nowhere to hide.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does it seem like the Japanese are handling their greater crisis much better than the New Orleans-ers handled their slightly lesser one???? I mean, at least NO didn't have radiation to worry about.... I haven't heard any Japanese crying for free houses and food but then maybe I'm just not listening to the news....but it seems to me they all know they're in the same boat and they're doing the best they can.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'.
@Suzy- A lot of people have noticed that difference. In Japan, there is a real sense of community and responsibility... unlike the United States which (despite having a huge number of good, selfless, giving people) also has politicians and media members who spend every waking moment trying to turn neighbor against neighbor, race against race, rich against poor, or create any other division which might be politically exploited.
ReplyDeleteMeaning that America now has to be schooled in civility from Japan, and economic responsibility from China, as well as geopolitical courage from France. Welcome to wacky world.
The truly sad part of America needing to learn stuff from other countries is, it's the socialists currently in power who need to learn it, not average Americans. And the socialists will never learn it because they refuse to!
ReplyDeleteFor those considering Potassium Iodide dosing for their small children... the possible damage to thyroid and adrenal systems from specific isotopes can occur WITHOUT A HIGH AMBIENT LEVEL OF RADIATION. As you head into hooters to get clams or shrimp with only teensy weensy amounts of radioactive iodine the levels in the parking lot won't be affected. Heck, the oysters could be so hot you could use your prostate to read in the dark -- it won't show up in the parking lot. I hope. not that parking lot anyway....
