Watch This!

With the news going to hell in a handbasket lately, I was in serious need of a pick-me-up this weekend. Which is why I want to send a special Hope n' Change shoutout to Rick Bacon, star of Spike TV's show "Musclecar."

Rick is an insanely talented artist who turns powerful cars into works of art...and in this weekend's "Altered E-Go" episode (which my TIVO oddly claimed was shot in 2007), viewers watching closely got an eyeful of Rick's awesomely manly limited-edition
Hope n' Change wristwatch in a number of close-up shots!

I'm not sure how many of Muslecar's viewers were subliminally converted into conservatives because, frankly, I can't imagine there are many liberals who have enough testosterone to be tuned in. But it was great fun to see the wristwatch on the air and get a much-needed laugh.

By the way, here's Rick's amazing paintjob on the '64 Comet that became "Altered Ego"...

Thanks again, Rick. I am so going to have you paint the official Hope n' Change mobile!

  3. Thanks for posting the image, I couldn't watch; love it!! Wtg Rick!!! And Wtg Stilt for the great watch. I'm afraid to wear mine. It's not that I'm going to get accosted, but I'm one of those whose watches never last for more than a couple of months,if I wear 'em, for some unknown reason. And I want *this* one to outlast the assault on the country!
    Thanks again!

  4. @A Nonny Mouse- Mrs. Jarlsberg's watch has already sustained a crack in the glass, but it still keeps flawless time. As for your watch, you should wear it for special occasions (state dinners, television appearances, tax audits) and then keep it safely with your other valuable heirlooms.

And darn, if I'd have been thinking I would have sent one to Obama for his birthday!

  5. Oh, one of these watches would have made such a GREAT birthday gift for Barack Hussein!!

  6. Awesome.

My sister had a Comet. It was nothing like this one. The man is a genius. Of course, we could tell by his watch.

  7. Thanks, Stilt! I'm truly honored at having my work featured on your site! I indeed work in a sea of liberals but feel it's my patriotic duty to stand for what I (and we) believe in. Thanks again, Stilt!

p.s. can somebody tell me how to create a profile so I don't have to use "anonymous"?

  8. @Rick - just select Name/URL from the drop-down, enter your name and leave the URL blank.

Thanks for wearing the watch on air ... makes mine feel even more special!

  9. Rick-
This may not be the fastest way, but after you write your comments, there's a notation below the comment box "Comment as: Select Profile..." Click and hold the bottom arrow to the right of select profile. You'll get a list of stuff I don't understand, but you also will see "Name/URL." Select that option. A window will pop up. In the "name" area type in whatever you want to call yourself. You have to do this everytime you post a comment. Then hit "continue" and it will take you back to your comments. Good Luck. It's quite simple actually.

  10. @Rick- Believe me, the pleasure is all mine. And glad to see that Chuck and Earl have clarified the process for getting a screen name (since, um, I wasn't entirely sure how that's done).

And you know, every time I look at the picture at the top of this post I get a big goofy grin on my face. Goofier than usual, even. The fight is easier when we know we've got comrades in arms.
