Green Energy
Saint Patrick's Day is upon us, and our Irish president (who traces his family back to the aptly-named village of "Moneygall") is celebrating his roots by spreading the Blarney even thicker than usual.
Specifically, Barack O'Bama says he is now considering opening our nation's strategic oil reserves to help drive down the price of gasoline, and drive up his own plunging poll numbers.
While some might see this as pure politics and sham (or shamrock) policy,
Hope n' Change recognizes that keeping the strategic oil reserve intact is really only of value in case of a far-fetched emergency like the Strait of Hormuz being blocked, or Israel and Iran getting into a shooting war, or Arabs deciding they don't like America. And fortunately, since our Nobel Prize-winning president brought lasting peace to the Middle East, none of those things could possibly happen!
Still, it's odd that until now the president has insisted that there is no relationship between the availability of oil and the price of gas...a belief which has informed his decisions to prevent the Keystone XL pipeline, to shut down oil exploration and drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, and bring the issuing of new oil leases to a crawl.
But now he's out on the stump claiming that no one is a bigger proponent of drilling than he is, with the possible exception of Sandra Fluke.
Frankly, Hope n' Change is writing off all of this nonsense as just some good-natured St. Patrick's Day joshing by Mr. O'Bama - none of which should be taken seriously.
And all of which should be washed down with a significant quantity of green beer.
Stilton Jarlsberg
Now come on, we all know Obama doesn't have any stones - Blarney or otherwise.
ReplyDeleteYes, Obama will sell off America's strategic reserve just to get a jump in his poll numbers.
ReplyDeleteNow, I wonder if the mainstream media will bother enquiring into just who buys it, how much they are paying for it, and whether they are a current donor to the Obama re-election campaign...
Well, it is a "strategic reserve" and Turdboy has a "reelection strategy", however weak, so I guess you could stretch your imagination to the breaking point and see the reasoning behind it. Of course once it's used, sold, whatever...doesn't it have to be put back at current market prices?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Rush has said that all the drilling for oil going on in this country is on private land; land that SCOAMF hasn't yet figured out how to place out of bounds. As usual, he's taking credit for what others have done while plotting ways to stop them from doing it.
I heard him on tv last night! "WE ARE DRILLIN'"!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I felt so much better, didn't you?
Obama also released oil frm TSOR
ReplyDeleteduring the Arab Spring uprising in Egypt, didn't help the price then either. Chump.
We of Irish descent have enough to be ashamed of in the Kennedy's and many other famed Irish family names. Please do not add Øbama to that mix.
ReplyDeleteIn the US, we use 18.7 million barrels a day (2009 records). Again: another ineffectual sleight of hand by the moron in office. The entire 727 million barrels in the strategic reserve would supply the country's current demand for a month, give or take, and, at best, create a temporary depression in gas prices. Remember when Bush released from the strategic reserve? Yeah. Just like that temporary depression extending over two to three months. Expect this action to be taken in the August/September timeframe to ensure some benefit at the polls, er, I mean pumps.
Plus, that the reserve must be replenished at current market fits well into his agenda of overwhelming our economy: where do you think the money to do that will come from? Yup - our already over-stressed (but, not unlike most Mexicans in California: undocumented) budget. Best and fastest thing Øbama could do for himself and the country is to backpedal on the Keysone XL decision, and let that pipe join the plethora of other petroleum pipelines already crisscrossing the Ogallala Aquifer. Since (a)it would make sense to do so and (b) it would benefit the country and our economy, I expect him to continue to be loath to do that...
Hopefully in November, O'bama will be traipsin' off somewhere over the rainbow.
ReplyDelete@ Kencor04:
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, "rainbow" is apropos when talking about O'Bama. Of course, those are only rumors.
@ Emmentaler:
ReplyDeleteI am also a mixed-Irish mutt and I also resent that bi-pedal turd trying to attach himself to our heritage. He may have Irish blood in his background but SCOAMF doesn't have any trace of Irish soul. Much more Muslim, methinks.
Using the strategic reserve and not drilling for oil is like quitting your job and spending your savings. When the savings is gone, then what? Borrow from the relatives? Egad.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous- You make a good point. I've never seen any evidence to the contrary!
ReplyDelete@Coon Tasty- Truth be told, when I did the cartoon and commentary yesterday, the news story was that he was releasing the oil- after which the Whitehouse quickly backpedaled (and forcing me to add words like "may" and "is considering" to what had been a more straightforward indictment). I have no doubt that he will release oil when it is timed to do him the most good - which is hardly the intended use.
@Angry Hoosier Dad- Great points. If Obama releases the oil, then there are only two subsequent options: go without a strategic reserve, or refill the reserves with oil which is much more expensive. Either way, it amounts to taxpayer dollars (and our nation's security) being used to buy votes.
Regarding drilling, the actual stats show that drilling on Federal lands is down 30% under Obama, and much of the "drilling everywhere" Obama is taking credit for is from oil leases issued under the previous administration. In other words, in the one case where "Bush did it!" is true, he doesn't want anyone to know.
@pryorguy- The Bamster claims we're now drilling everywhere we can except "your house" and the National Mall. And notice that, as always, he picked an audience of mush-brained college students to preach this message to, as anyone older would boo his ridiculous claims off the stage.
@Spon- Quite right! He released oil, and the effect on prices was very small and extremely short-lived. And he knows that this would be the same effect this time and doesn't care. He just wants to give the illusion of action.
@Emmentaler- Hey, it's O'Bama who claims to be Irish (and I wasn't making up his alleged connection to "Moneygall" either). Personally, I'm the grandson of a man from County Cork.
As you point out, there could be no genuinely significant effect (at least, not in a good way) to releasing the strategic reserves. The entire purpose would be to distract voters from the failures of the president's energy policies.
@Kencor04- If so, he'll probably already have a pot o' gold stashed in a Swiss bank account.
@My Dog Brewski- I heard Barry was caught in a compromising position with Roy G. Biv.
@Angry Hoosier Dad- Another son o' the old sod! Belly up to the bar, me lad, and I'll buy ye a pint!
And I just made up a joke about our Irish-Islamic president...
Obama walks into a bar on St. Patrick's Day and says "barkeeper give me a beer with a head on it!"
"What kind?" the barkeeper asks.
"Oh," the president answers, "An infidel's head."
@Jim Hlavac- I think it's less a case of "borrowing from the relatives" and more a case of stealing their stuff and selling it.
ReplyDeletePhoto of The Prez at a pub, pint in his hand. Caption is "thin, dark, weak head. Beer's pretty good though"
ReplyDelete@Stilton: Begorrah! County Cork, didja say? Why, me own daddo is from the same, t'be sure! And me nana is from nearby, rest their souls. Interesting story, that. Hometowns VERY close, but they met for the first time in Detroit. The rest, as they say, is history. My Grandad was a dyed-in-the-wool democrat his whole time in the US until Roe vs. Wade; about 50 years then, all told. His family (those in the states) just about disowned him when he started voting against the democrats - despite their religious convictions, they continued voting the demons in.
ReplyDelete@Pete: try this caption: "Thin, dark, weak head. The beer, on the other hand,..." (Could you imagine if Clinton went into a bar and asked for a beer with head? They'd have to toss him out!)
And it is my fervent hope that no molecule of Guinness could stand itself to be in his person. The thought of that black gold being thusly contaminated. Shudder! Perish the thought. Let him drink Killian's Red - it's just as Irish as he is.
Emmentaller - I don't have documentation that it actually WAS my ancestors (might have been cousins, or summat) but I can trace roots to Dublin, and the same last name as the folks who sold the brewery to Mr. Guinness.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, it kinda galls me personally to think of any of that being swallowed by that D-Bag...
OH, and I heard that Mr. Clinton was 'spotted' in a strip club doing just that (requesting a beer w/ a little head).
Of course, had it been Barry in Chicago, the whole joke rolls a bit differently...
As conceived, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was meant for national emergencies. Unfortunately, these now include political emergencies; Clinton having opened the floodgate for such uses to help none other than hypocrite anti-oil zealot Al Gore's election campaign.
ReplyDeleteOf course, as I've mentioned here before, addressing the real problem is now well beyond Obama's control. That problem is "inflation"; cheap money policy from the Fed and trillions spent on stimulus that produced absolutely nothing of real value is quickly rendering the dollar worthless. Oil is traded internationally in dollars. So it's bad news for those of you who drive, eat, or drink on a daily basis.
But hey, middle-class and "poor" people. Obama didn't raise your taxes, did he? Did he?
'Tis the season of the green ...
ReplyDeleteGreen energy companies funded by the taxpayers ... handing out huge bonuses ... then going bankrupt.
And now
Green algae to fuel Air Force 1 ...
Green Solar Powered Presidential Limos ...
Green Windmills lining the east coast as far as the eye can see to take over from those black (oohh...is that racist?) coal fired plants (" If we space wind turbines 1/2 kilometer apart along the east coast, we could place 5000 wind turbines in a single row. 1,000,000 wind turbines (assuming 15 mile per hour winds (greater than average)) would require 200 rows of wind turbines along the east coast! 5,000,000 wind turbines (from the average 10 mile per hour winds would require 1000 rows of wind turbines!") ... Don't believe it? Try this link:
http://www.creativeenergyalternatives.com/wind/how_many_wind_turbines.html
Faith, and Begorrah, our black irish president is definitely into the flaunting of the green, while shelling out as much of the taxpayers green as possible.
His plan to release oil reserves (purchased at, what? $45/barrel) to the big bad oil companies ... so that he can get a short term kick in polls ... which we, the taxpayers will then have to shell out the green to repurchase at $105/barrel, is proof positive the man is interested in only one job in this economy ... his.
Yes, my Great (x6) Grandfather is probably wishing he had come here from anywhere but Belfast Bridge.
@Pete(Detroit)- A quick Google image search of "Obama" and "Ireland" pulls up the perfect picture of O'Bama in a pub trying to drink a man's ration of stout. Mind you, there are no pictures of him having finished the glass. Or swallowing.
ReplyDelete@Emmentaler- Technically, I'm Irish by blood rather than law, as my grandfather was never married to my grandmother. In fact, he was a traveling piano teacher, but he apparently threw in an organ lesson as well.
As far as O'Bama drinking Guinness, I'm sure it won't happen. The little weasel couldn't fight his way through the foam.
@Pete(Detroit)- This is turning into an Irish reunion! Does anyone else watch "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" on a regular basis? (Okay, it's make-believe Disney Ireland, but I love it anyway. And the banshee scares me.)
And regarding Barry in Chicago, you mean he wasn't shooting a "Got Milk" ad?
@John the Econ- The price of gas is largely beyond Obama's control, but since the Dems worked so hard to teach people that Bush controlled gas prices, I'm fairly happy to see Barry hoisted on his own petard.
Meanwhile, as the dollar loses value, it amounts to a HUGE tax on anyone with savings...as well as a huge burden on anyone who hopes our economy and job market could ever improve. Not that the mainstream media care to mention it.
@elcedar- Our dollars are the only green energy source Obama is actually interested in. The stats you're citing about the impracticality of wind power are perfectly accurate, yet Obama is out on the stump calling people who can do the math "Flat Earthers."
And as Obama can personally tell you, the Earth is not flat. Because if it was, all the Unicorns would have fallen off the edges.
Barragh Padraigh O'Bama , eh?
ReplyDeleteMay the blessing of the great saint be upon y'all. I am Irish (citizenship and all) and o'bummer is Irish as paddy's pig, it's just that we think a lot more of the pig than zero
ReplyDeleteHow I wish the great saint was in Wash D.C. to drive the snakes into the Patomic and convert the heathen to Christianity.
ReplyDeleteHypocrites to the highesr degree!
ReplyDeleteYou racists mangle Obama's successes as "delusional' and "false" yet you can't answer why websites like Politfact and WTFhasObamadonesofar.com exist! they exist to prove to are liars!
"SCOAMF" is a retarded racist crap created by retarded racist who are STILL pissed America voted for a Black man as President of the United States instead of a Ditzy quitter, Caribou Barbie!
I hate that poor people get health care, and our dependence on foreign oil is a good thing? The "staggering debt" has nothing to do with the wars started by the previous President. Higher unemployment -- actually the economy is recovering. Unsecured borders -- fewer people are coming across than during the Bush years. I don't even know what "compliant unconstitutional herds of followers" means. The Muslim Brotherhood has taken over the Middle East? hmm... want to think about that? De-funding our military? Absolutely deep cuts can, and should, be made in the military budget.
Of course, now you have a lying rebuttal to Obama "inheritin" the Bush economy to "he created it"! So Obama created the wars in Iraq and Afgan? Obama crrated the Keystone and TARP program?
If you don't believe me the Google which president increased our debt the most, and the United States Treasury Report will verify this information. Just so you know, before you look up this extensive and accurate multi-page document. Bill Clinton increased our debt the least, while he was the President. Enjoy your research.
You dinbats are too busy lying about Obama's successes and "broken" promises and other crap you remove this obvious fact!
You racists KNOW the GOP candidates are a joke, you KNOW they can’t win. and you HATE that they are attacking Obama and being respectful at the same time!
Obama is anything but a Socialist. He stands to the Right of Eisenhower and is trying very hard to save American Capitalism from its own stupidity.
Anyone who calls Obama a "SCOAMF" is a retarded fact. plain and simple!
@Anonymous- I've temporarily left your post up just so we could all be amused by your fractured grammar, incorrectly spelled words, utter misstatements of facts, and general sputtering inconsequentiality.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like to actually talk politics some time, feel free to drop by and comport yourself like a grown-up.
Is Obama now trolling your site ... using @Anonymous as his handle? I've seen sputtering, and stuttering ... but I must admit, that post is a miserable failure.
ReplyDelete@elcedar- Usually I'd just trash a troll's comment (not someone who just disagrees, which I could respect, but someone who is a flat out idiot and hater). Still, there was almost a poetry to the sheer stupidity and ugliness of "Anonymous's" ranting, and I thought it might be somewhat inspirational to remind people of the brainless types who we'll be fighting - and beating royally - in the upcoming election.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous- By the way, there's no need to Google which president raised debt the most. CBS News (not exactly a Right Wing outpost) just released the story that Obama has created more debt in 3 years than Bush did in 8.
