Well, here's hoping you at least still have two hands w/ which to juggle! Raising a small glass of honey laced 'coffee' (wild berry pyment, from BNektar, local meadery) in your general direction, and wishing you well, safe, and rested.
And for any who have interest piqued by recent weather events, "Storm Kings" is an EXCELLENT read on the history of tornado research, from Ben Franklin on up. Check your library (Mine has it)
Stilt, Hope you have a great weekend. Now I know the connection, I still live in Indiana. Just don't live in a trailer anymore. LOL. Where in Indiana did you live?
Ah, the paradox of the there's-no-post post rears it's funny head again: why, it's almost the way the gov't is run nowadays -- someone is sort of in charge, but no one shows up ... hmmm. :)
Trivia... I was once in Olso, and saw a street performer (whom I later found out was from Philadelphia) on a unicycle juggling a chainsaw, bowling ball and an apple. The chainsaw had no chain, but impressive none the less!
Crocodiles in Texas?! Damn global warming...
And Stilton, I enjoyed your final dressing down of Fark Boy yesterday. Have a great weekend, try not to cut off an arm, and hope you get some irons pulled out of the fire.
Stilton, you're not fighting crocodiles. You're experiencing a few isolated incidents of reptile extremistism, which in no way represent the beliefs of the millions of other peace-loving vegetarian crocodiles out there...
@Kevbob- I was born in Indianapolis, then moved to Bloomington to attend IU (and subsequently lived there for quite awhile). Now I'm in Texas living in a house which doesn't have wheels on the corners.
@Jim Hlavac- Yeah, I just can't bear having no post on a "no post" day. I'd rather people think "Stilt can't get his crap together" rather than "I wonder if he had too much coffee and wandered out into traffic?"
Enjoy your vacation!
@Colby- It probably wasn't a real apple, either.
Regarding Fark Boy, it's actually not much fun dressing down someone who offers so little challenge.
@CenTexTim- I like your optimism. You're a "crocodile half full" kind of guy. (grin)
@DougM- Now that's real optimism! I won't need to "hurry back" really as I'm not going anywhere, I just couldn't get things together for a Friday post - no doubt because of my lofty standards (I just threw that in for the Fark followers).
By the way, readers, you should definitely check out DougM's smart and funny postings at the ever-amusing (and delightfully conservative) Sondrakistan.
I'm currently reading an old book that was published in the late 50s covering the gist of the Nuremburg trials for nazi war criminality. What really strikes me and chills me is the methods that Hitler used to accomplish his 'goals'. Lies and deception (sound familiar?), manufacturing crises (gasp)to sorta support his agressive actions, and other very familiar techinques to make something happen that normally would be very very unpopular. He was accepted as a savior (familiar again?), until he brought the hammer down on several ethinic groups (jews, communists, homosexuals, handicapped people, etc.). The havoc he wreaked in suffering humanity is historic; what a legacy. I swear our current 'messiah' is working for the same thing.
@leelu- When this particular swamp is drained, I'd like to sow salt on the muck and then bring in a bulldozer to backfill the whole thing.
@PRY- Too bad "Anonymous" isn't hear to read your post, or my agreement with it. Every policy of Obama's is designed to push this country closer to chaos while simultaneously inciting hatred between groups of people. I'm convinced that it isn't by accident, nor an "unintended consequence."
@Stilt: Nah. I'm pretty sure our friend "Anonymous" would come back with some witty rejoinder. Some such as: "You lost. Get over it." Or "He's the president so you have to respect him."
To that first on, though I've never thought about it in this vein before, I realize that we really did lose. The whole country is lost. And we're losing more everyday him and his people are at the helm. Hopefully not irretrievably...
@Emmentaler- Yes, we've lost a lot, and you bring up a great point. Anonymous said to sign up for Fark (or drink kool-aid, or have a lobotomy or something) in order to be on "the winning side."
But my goal has never been to be on the "winning" side - just the right side. That means individual responsibility and choice; not simply joining whatever crowd has the biggest numbers and the loudest voices. But this would be lost on Anonymous and his interchangeable comrades.
PRY - considering that Obummer is widely held to be George Sauron (er, SOROS') meat puppet, and *he* got his fortune started by narking out other Jews to the Nazis, should it really surprise anyone that the techniques are similar?
Speaking of similar techniques... Has anyone else heard that king 0blahma announced he's going to sign the UN arms resolution without getting a vote of approval from Congress?
Just like his flurry of executive orders and other nonsense edicts and fiats he's so fond of issuing...
So much for the Legislative Branch of our Constitutional Republic. Along with this and all the other disasters he's either directly or indirectly responsible for, if this isn't grounds for impeachment, I don't know what is!
Even today, it still mystifies me how a foreigner raised by leftists, criminals, terrorists, & Muslims, formally educated in the art of circumventing our Constitution, who paid large amounts of cash to have his records legally sealed so no one could do a background check and establish who he "really" is, and had no real on the job leadership experience short of being an agent provacateur/rabble rouser, could ever be allowed to run for ANY high office, much less voted in to said high office by the people of this country.
Every step of the way he has been a threat to our sovereignty as individuals, as a people, and as a nation.
I guess if that twerp fark-boy were here he'd say something like, "Nyah, nyah, nuh nyah, nyah... We won! Get over it!"
Kind of like Valerie 'Now we get revenge' Jarrett said.
Obama deserves a lot of the blame, but fact is, he has only escalated the out-of-control UNCONSTITUTIONAL bureaucracy that creates laws without any input from the American people by way of our representatives! He fits right into this mindset because he knows we don't want the kind of policy he and others want to enact!

@Pete(Detroit)- Dang, that sounds tasty! And things are fine here, but time and priorities collided and priorities had to win.
ReplyDeleteI'll look for "Storm Kings," as I've got a fascination with twisters (perhaps because I formerly lived in a trailer in Indiana).
And you (and others) might enjoy checking out this page which has the amazing tornado paintings of artist John Brosio.

ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'm off on vacation too ...
Have fun, be good, solve your problems.

ReplyDeleteThink: new boots and luggage.
ReplyDeleteHurry back, and think up some more good stuff I can link to (or steal from).
Happy juggling.

@Lee the Voice- Thank you, sir!
Swamp. Draining. Enjoy!!
