Civil Rites

On Saturday, Barack Obama traveled to Selma, Alabama to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Bloody Sunday" civil rights march in 1965.

Those were sad and tumultuous times, marked with violence and social injustice. But even then there was hope. Even on the day of that fateful march, there was a young black boy who dreamed that someday, somehow, he would become president of the United States.

That boy was, of course, not Barack Obama. He was in Indonesia eating dogs and bowing towards Mecca. No, the boy was Herman Cain, whose presidential dream screeched to a halt when the Democrats destroyed his reputation with bogus sex scandals. Tough break, kid.

Still, 50 years after the march, much has changed in our country. We've gone from a time when a black man couldn't drink at a "white" drinking fountain to a time when a blitheringly incompetent anti-American douchenozzle can be elected president solely because he is black. In other words, we've made a lot of progress - but mostly on the drinking fountain front.

In his remarks to the crowd, Obama did his standard job of disparaging America in the most poetic of terms.  Giving a history which was not "airbrushed," he described our country's development by farmers and miners...followed by entrepreneurs and hucksters. The immigrants who came to our country were "stowaways," of course, much like the "hopeful strivers who cross the Rio Grande" to get here.

"We are the slaves who built the White House," the president continued - not even pausing to thank the slaves who now fund Obamacare and myriad entitlement programs. "And we’re the Tuskegee Airmen, Navajo code-talkers, and Japanese-Americans who fought for this country even as their own liberty had been denied." Denied by evil white folks, of course.

But not all of Barry's remarks focused on the past. He made a point of calling out Ferguson as a sad modern day example of racism run amuck - a town where black people lack the basic freedoms to commit strong arm robbery and attack police officers.

The Great Uniter then savaged Republicans, saying "the Voting Rights Act, the culmination of so much blood and sweat and tears, the product of so much sacrifice in the face of wanton violence, stands weakened, its future subject to partisan rancor."

All we can say is, if there's a partisan ranker than Obama we have yet to see him.

  1. Not only has Barry O outspent every past president in this country's history combined he has also done more than all bigots, race baiters, and racists combined to foment racial division and instigate hatred between otherwise peace loving people of all walks of life. He is a disgrace. And the vast majority of the money he has squandered has been wasted on cronyism.

  2. Hi H&C folks. I don't want to be a killjoy but every time I look at that Lefty Lucy I can't help but feel that her overall political perception would be muchly improved with a good hard slap. Call me old fashioned, in fact pour me one.

  3. All I can say is - with a president that strives to post the goofiest poses he can imagine, a vice president that evidently lost all touch with reality many years ago, and a congress that appears to be all competing for starring roles in "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World II - I am ever so glad that I plan no trips to any other country on the planet. The level of embarrassment I would suffer by admitting that I am an American would be far more than I could take.

  4. @Fred Ciampi- Try though I might, I can't find a single syllable in your comment to disagree with.

@Popular Front- Sometimes, that "good hard slap" is called "reality."

@Geoff King- Until Obama and his crowd are gone, Americans overseas should definitely claim to be Canadian.

  5. What a joke these two are! There's nothing else I can say. And we're told we should respect the office of the president. That should probably start with the people elected to that office!

  6. @Judi King--I totally respect the office of president of the United States. That doesn't mean I respect the man who holds the office. I expect them to earn my respect, and as has been pointed out so many times and so very poignantly, the so-called POTUS we have today is nothing but a great disgrace to that office he holds. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

  7. @Judi King- Excellent point. The best way to respect the office of the president is to put someone respectable in that office!

@Cookie- We should indeed respect the office of the president but, as you point out, that's not a bottomless well when it comes to excusing the SCOAMF. I will respect the office again when someone else is in it.

  8. America. What an awful place. To year these people speak of it, I can't understand why anyone stays here instead of emigrating to much safer, just and equitable places like Africa, Asia or Europe.

Eric Holder's Just-us Department, found itself unable to create any pretext to arrest Darren Wilson for even jaywalking. So clearly we still have a lot of work to do to make America a safe place for thugs who commit strong-arm robberies, stagger down the middle of our streets and then assault peace officers.

  9. Want a story that combines civil rights, sex scandals, the Clintons, e-mail, and even "global warming"?

Am I alone in noticing how absent the United Nations has been from the national news over the last 6 years? During the Bush era, you couldn't escape daily MSM coverage of the goings on at the UN, particularly those pontificating in response to Afghanistan, Iraq, or some perceived evil misdoings on the part of the Bush Administration.

But today it's as though the UN today barely exists, which is kind of a surprise given the global chaos of the moment; the kind of crisis that the UN was actually formed to address. You'd think that with the rise of ISIS, Boko Haram and other radical extra-governmental entitles openly conducting terror and operating internationally, this would be the time when countries would unite, and UN's moment to step forward to restore order.

But no. We now only hear of the UN for really silly reasons, like this weekend's "World Women's Day", where the theme was "gender equality". To make their point, they marched through one of the most gender-equal places on earth, New York City.

Contributing to the effort, the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation spent some of their hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars, much of it collected from very women-unequal places to ask social media users to change their photo to a faceless silhouette and tweet your message with the hashtag #NotThere.

Because if there's anything that rattles misogynists, it's people who pull their social media profile pictures and then use hashtags. Especially when the message is sponsored by such well-renown anti-misogynists asBill and Hillary Clinton.

If these feminists really wanted to make a point, perhaps they should have stayed at UN headquarters, which itself is a hive of misogyny.

Speaking of misogyny, Rajendra Pachauri, head of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and purveyor of soft-core porn was forced to resign over the sexual harassment of his underlings. Perhaps now he can devote 100% of his time contributing to world literature instead of the 90% he was devoting to it before at taxpayer expense.

And on the Hillary E-Mail scandal: This hit me shortly after I posted on this last week: How many other Administration and government agency big-wigs & operatives are running private e-mail servers in their basements? Surely, Hillary can't be the only one. I bet the next Lois Lerner will certainly be using one. If I was an IT entrepreneur living in the DC suburbs, this is definitely a business I'd be getting into.

All of the above are the screwed-up hypocrites who wish to micromanage our lives. Far from "the dream" MLK talked about.

  10. One of the things I haven't heard commented on during the Selma commemoration is who was doing the beating. Think about it. From the governor of Alabama on down through the local politicians, the sheriff and his deputies ... those doing the beating were all Democrats. The commemorators, mostly Democrats, don't seem to dwell on that fact. Selma took place in 1965. Richard Nixon benefitted greatly in his 1968 campaign, through the huge embarrassment of white Southerners over the violence at Selma. White Southerners who were not racists, and who didn't want to be associated with the racists of the Democrat government and the KKK, voted Republican, many for the first time in their lives. Recently, Democrats have tried to say that Nixon's Southern strategy scooped up racists in the South in a sort of magical switch of racists to the Republicans, when exactly the opposite happened. Non-racist white voters in the South were so disgusted over what the Democrats did that they deserted the Democrat party. And that's what made Selma such a big deal.

  11. What, no mention of the New York Times excising Dubya (and a boatload of other Republicans) from the photos taken at Selma this year? The oh-so-enlightened NYT tries to pretend that only Demo_Rats were there because that's the way they want it and nobody says anything. The Demo_Rats disgust me down to my toes!

  12. @Jeep..The FNC did report the NYT omission of Bush, etc.in Selma, but even they seemed to want to excuse the Times. It IS sickening.

  13. @John the Econ- Barry's speech describes the loathsome America that Michelle wasn't proud of until her husband was coronated.

Meanwhile, even though Holder couldn't find diddly on Darren Wilson, he's declared the entire Ferguson police department to be racist, and suggests that pretty much every other police department is, too. In other words, we need a lot less law enforcement in this country.

Regarding the UN, I've always considered them useless and my opinion hasn't changed.

Finally, Hillary is supposed to talk to the press today to explain her email shenanigans. I'm hoping she will angrily waggle her finger at the camera.

@Skoonj- EXCELLENT point! This 50th Anniversary would have been a great time to educate low-fo types on which party fought against civil rights tooth and nail. How many young Dems know that Lester Maddox used ax handles to keep blacks out of his restaurant - and that the move was so popular that it allowed him to be elected the Democratic Governor of Alabama? Better still - the man actually sold autographed ax handles to raise money, and Democrats bought 'em like hotcakes.

@JustaJeepGuy- No question that the NYT didn't really want Bush in the picture, but I'm on the fence about what actually happened. We're told that there was a nice close-up with Barry and that Bush wasn't in that shot. There was also a picture that had both presidents, but Bush had his face turned and the picture wasn't well composed (I've seen that picture, and it's true-ish). What I can't understand is why the NYT is claiming they only had those two pictures to choose from. News photographers tend to shoot in "burst" mode to get lots of pictures to choose from, especially in a dynamic situation in which people are in motion.

I can understand them using the picture they went with from an editorial standpoint (it's a pretty good picture), but there explanation doesn't pass the sniff test.

@Judi King- Per my comment above, I don't know that the NYT committed an unforgivable sin, but I'm pretty open to the possibility.

  14. I love all of this talk about those senators being traitors. Hilarious. This admin, this disgusting "president" has done so many extralegal (illegal) things that it's just the pot calling the kettle black at best. In reality, they said the right thing and did the right thing with this rogue dictator of ours.

Hey, remember when that murderer T. Kennedy asked Brezhnev to interfere in the '84 elections? Treason, no? "Progressives" are liars in the most egregious sense and the most obvious.

And speaking of sexting, if I give Lefty Lucy my number, will she send me a nudie pic or too?

  15. Dittos to Skoonj on his/her excellent point. I forgot how some Southern Dems. went Rep. back them. Dittos also on Mr. Jarlsberg comment on the UN. Even when I was in high school, a long time ago, I didn't understand why the US had anything to do with the UN.

  16. Yeah, @Stilton. Don't expect much enlightenment from Hillary today. In fact, we've already gotten the equivalent of the middle finger from her.

We now find out that the 50,000 "pages" of Hillary's e-mail was literally 50,000 printed pages!

So, this begs the question of why would Hillary go to the trouble (and expense - thousands of dollars) of printing out 50,000 pages as opposed to sending them over electronically like almost anyone else would.

Well, basically this is a big "F-You" by Hillary to Congress. It's akin to going down to the county to pay your parking ticket fines with jars full of pennies.

Until the documents are scanned back into electronic form, they would be nearly impossible to index and search, redact and and disseminate. This would take a lot of time as well.

But the bigger reason is that I am sure that the e-mail "header" information is not included with those messages. There is a lot of information in e-mail headers, like how the message got from the sender to the receiver. There's no doubt that if you were going to the trouble of running your own private and secret mail server, you'd also not want that information disseminated as well. For example, now many others are there in Hillary's political circle running private, secret mail servers so that they too cam circumvent record retention laws?

Paying attention Democrats? Have you already forgotten? This is what you will be getting with another Clinton Administration. Obama is just plain incompetent who honestly believes in what he's doing. But Hillary is a sleazy lawyer out for her own personal interests.

  17. A bit off-topic today...I am wondering why, when being interviewed, folks on the right try to answer these 'gotcha' questions, such as happened to Scott Walker and "E"volution...Sarah Palin's time in the 'gotcha' chair with Katie Couric about how many books she reads or something like that!

The lefties NEVER or rarely are like a rat in a trap when those questions arise, they simply recite the party line, which I'm sure they all get each morning in the inbox!
Or just flat make it up. Maybe commies are just more creative than sorta conservatives!

Ben Carson is a GREAT man, I'm sure we'll all agree...but I too don't think he's ready for prime-time, unless the world suddenly has the need for a great pair of hands to surgically fix it up!

btw, Stilt, wowee...you have a bonafide 'toon factory' going now! Really prolific! Great stuff!

  18. She said that she opted for her private server, because she didn't want to have to carry more than 1 "device" to access both State Department mail and personal mail. "One device would be simpler."

BS. She acts as though she's unaware that you can have many more than a single email account on a single mobile device. I can't buy that. She's smart enough, or has consultants smart enough to run a private e-mail server, but not smart enough to configure a single device for multiple addresses? I have a dozen e-mail addresses for personal affairs and different businesses activities, and several of them are on my "single" device. I suspect many of you, along with millions of Americans do the same.

In fact, we know that she used multiple addresses on that single server/domain:

    hdr@clintonemail.com
    hdr18@clintonemail.com
    hdr19@clintonemail.com
    hdr20@clintonemail.com

    h.clinton@clintonemail.com
    Hillary@clintonemail.com
    contact@clintonemail.com
    mau_suit@clintonemail.com

From "Slick Willy" to "Slick Hilly".

  19. I have to say that those of you who still believe that the Republican Party will somehow fix the destruction of our country put forth recently by the Democrats are highly delusional. There is no difference between the two parties. They are both owned by the same Globalists, and they are operating on the assumption that the American voter is too ignorant to realize that. Did one Republican elected to the Senate live up to his or her campaign promise thus far?
IMHO, there are only two political parties in this country. There are Libertarians and there are Republicrats.

  20. @John the Econ- I hope you approve, but I was so pissed off by Hillary's preposterous "explanation" for her email situation that I couldn't even bang words together. I had just finished a cartoon on the subject when you made the post above - so I flat out stole it (giving you full credit, of course) for tomorrow's commentary. Hope you approve!

  21. Now, if you feel that Hitlery broke the law by having a private email server for government business, you are sexist according to the controlled media. Thank God, I am no longer racist!
But, wait a minute, the fact that I would vote for Sarah Palin as President in a heartbeat must then mean that, as an extreme Conservative, I have gender issues. Can I get government aid for that point of view? Can I have my own public restroom?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Please feel free, @Stilton. The honor is mine.

The only question is are there enough Americans stupid enough to buy her crap?

My only regret is not having enough foresight to move to DC and get into the "secret server" business.

  23. Hillary may think her e-mail was safe, and it was. From the American people. But what about foreign intelligence operations. I am willing to bet her e-mails have been intercepted, and the possible presence of "classified" information makes it all the worse. Hell, as Secretary of State, virtually everything she transmits electronically is classified. Oh, and I really want to see Huma's e-mails, especially between her and the wife of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood head, who was their president for a while.
