Par For Discourse

Surely Barack Obama and Eric Holder are exchanging high-fives in Washington today after their unending, anti-white anti-police rhetoric has caused the shooting of two officers in Ferguson, Missouri.

Thankfully, both officers will survive. Whether racial harmony in this country will survive has yet to be determined, but it's not looking good.

Despite the fact that the "Hands up - Don't shoot" myths surrounding the death of Michael Brown have been repeatedly proven false, Barack Obama was still attacking Ferguson in his sanctimonious "white devils" speech in Selma, Alabama only days ago.

And of course, even though officer Darren Wilson has been repeatedly cleared of wrongdoing, Eric Holder's Justice Department released a scathing (and highly questionable) report calling the entire Ferguson police department so filled with racism that it may need to be disbanded entirely. And for bonus points, Holder suggested that the same may be true of other police departments across our nation.

Small wonder, then, that peace officers are suddenly finding themselves in the crosshairs. There's a reason why inflammatory statements like those coming from Obama, Holder, Sharpton, and the MSM are referred to as "a call to arms." And we now have two more wounded officers to prove it.

Eric Holder has declared the shootings to be "inexcusable and repugnant," apparently unaware how perfectly those same terms describe his entire body of (ahem) "service" as Attorney General.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama tweeted his regrets (140 characters is plenty, right?), calling the shootings "unacceptable" - a word that sounds like it should come from a wealthy dowager who has discovered a bit of untrimmed crust on her cucumber finger sandwich.

In fairness, he also tweeted that those responsible for the shootings would be "hunted to the gates of Hell" and be punished to the full extent of the law no matter what race they are.

Only kidding. Barry's tweet really said the "path to justice is one all of us must travel together." Which only doubles down on his position that there currently isn't racial justice in America, just a path. A path that will continue to be littered with the bodies of fallen police officers as long as the Left continues to deliberately stoke racial hatred for the sake of politics.

  1. Allow me to make a comment about something that many don't have a lot of familiarity with and that is that 125 yard shot with a semiautomatic pistol or revolver (3 quick shots rule out most other handguns)is a rather remarkable shot in broad daylight. It's a good shot with an unscoped rifle. I suspect the shooter was much closer if it was a handgun, like in the crowd. Ok thats my 2 cents worth.

  2. @Stilton: "path to justice is one all of us must travel together." As long as it's on the Race-Baiting, Victimhood Express™.

  3. @Stilton: Here is a scathing little commentary that everyone should be aware of, and have in their arsenal of counter-thrusts when "debating" the self-righteous grievance mongers.

  4. I really don't understand why the Ferguson police continue to go to work. I suppose it's hard to just give up a career that you probably like, but the wonderful citizens of that city should be left without protection. Also the merchants should close down and re-locate. No law abiding person needs to live and work in such an environment. The rest, left to their own devices, may self destruct at will.

  5. Up early, I was curious to see what you'd have this morning. Clever cartoon and good blurb as usual. Thank you.

For some reason (weird minds think like?) I'm recalling the old board game Ropes & Ladders. There's been a lot of rope slides but in this pleasant scenario our nation takes a ladder directly to the day before 2016 election. I'm really looking forward to voting these folks out.

  6. The government has been arming local police departments with assault rifles, grenade launchers, armored vehicles, and other military equipment for quite some time now, and now they wonder why cities are starting to look like war zones? Considering the average cop has an IQ under 100 and little if any training with all their fancy new toys, the confrontations and bloodshed will undoubtedly grow.
I believe that may have been the plan all along. Nurture anarchy until Martial Law must be declared and the feds will then be able to seize control of every facet of our lives.

  7. @REM1875- I don't know much about guns, but it struck me as odd that someone 125 yards away would have that kind of accuracy with a handgun - especially while peeling off quick shots. Then again, what's the cost of an expert marksman to someone like George Soros?

@Gang of One- Catchy! Seriously, it makes me insane when the president should just effing say something substantive and instead turns into the Poet Laureate of the United States.

And note that Barry's tweet doesn't refer to justice for the wounded officers - it's still referring to "justice" for those accusing the police of wrongdoing.

@Gang of One- Thanks for the link; excellent article!

    @John Ortmann- With pleasure.

@Judi King- I think the police stay because they're aware that they are needed by a largely black, largely poor population that desperately needs police protection from the predators amongst them. I think the cops are unwilling to desert the innocents and leave them as victims.

That being said, I keep thinking about this call to arms: "No justice, No peace officers." Maybe they should all get "blue flu" and stay home until Holder comes to Ferguson (or its ashes) to apologize for his racial witch hunt.

@Rod- I thought the game was "Chutes and Ladders"? (Googling) Hey, we're both right! Apparently there's even a version called "Snakes and Ladders" (really!) which sounds like it would make a nice metaphor for the Obama administration.

And oh, how I wish there was a ladder which could take us straight to the day that the next president takes office. Although if that president is Hillary, I may go up a ladder with a rope, but I'll come down via gravity. (Just kidding. Mostly.)

@Geoff King- I don't want to fault the cops at all, although the militarization of some police departments is getting scary and makes the dangers of overreaction greater.

And I agree that it's plausible (if not downright likely) that the bigger play behind stimulating racial unrest may be to cause enough bloodshed to put draconian new federal police powers into effect.

  8. I think the bullets may have been stray one from the the mooslim wedding celebration 25 miles away. Seriously, was the shooter trying to shoot out a street light? There is significant drop in all bullet trajectory at 100+ yards: http://www.gunnersden.com/index.htm.handgun-ballistics.html

On a related note, on this day in 1865 the Confederacy allowed blacks to fight. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/confederacy-approves-black-soldiers

  9. 125 yards with a pistol - two hits...

Possible, if you specifically train for it:

  10. 1. Observe small garbage can fire
    2. Throw 3-gallon bucket of gasoline on it
    3. Throw a couple of lit road flares on top of that
    4. Run around like Chicken Little screaming about the spreading fire and urgent need for "Federal Authorities" to come to the rescue (with more gas and flares)
    5. Form a non(right!)-profit org to combat out-of-control fires

  11. I notice the use of what is termed scare quotes around the word ambush in news reports about the intentional shooting of two police. Just because the "media" (see what I did there?)doesn't believe it was an intentional shooting does not make it so.

On another point, with all the illnesses popping up I for one would like to see a massive, nationwide pandemic of blue flu. Especially in the communities where we have been told over and over that high percentage of arrests of darker skinned criminals is "racist" and has no correlation to the higher number of darker skinned people in those same communities.

  12. @ Geoff King

Call me paranoid, but I believe you are closer to the truth than we know. Case in point for those who say it cannot happen and like to read history. Read the timeline of Hitler's raise to power, and the subsequent atrocities performed in the name of government in Germany.
The German people would have revolted IF the Nazis had tried to get from point A to point Z in one step. Kind of like the frog in the pot.

  13. @Stilton @Rod: Ropes & Ladders, sounds like the ideal sentence for some of these criminals, including the Ferguson shooters.
@Judi king: The result of that would be -- once again -- that Obama, Holder, et. al. blaming everyone but themselves for the anarchy.

  14. @Readers- I just read that Obama was on Jimmy Kimmel last night (technically the same day as the shootings) yucking it up and doing comedy shtick.

But taking a moment to feign seriousness, he did address Ferguson - saying that the police force there was "oppressive and objectionable and worthy of protest, but there was no excuse for criminal acts."

I can't/won't print my actual thoughts on this pronouncement because I'd end up getting visited by drunken Secret Service agents.

@Japheaux- I'll be eager to hear real analysis (if it ever comes) about what really happened in this shooting.

@Harvey- Interesting. Sounds like the police should be looking for someone who's had a lot of practice with a handgun.

    @Chris- You nailed it.

@American Cowboy- The shots were probably fired by someone who was angry about a Youtube video. I'm sure Holder's Justice Department will find a filmmaker to arrest soon.

And while I like the idea of "blue flu" (and even referred to it a couple of comments ago), I'm afraid the reality is that Barry would use it as an opportunity to declare Martial Law. Too few people remember that in July of 2008, Barry expressed his desire for a "civilian national security force" within the borders of our country which would rival the US military in strength.

His handlers shut him up on that topic immediately afterwards - no doubt because he was revealing too much too soon.

  15. @Geoff King/American Cowboy, I can spot black helicopters w/the best of them, and I'm not extremely fond of the militarization of our local police departments. However, I also have to remember why - in many cases - it's happening. They were - and quite often still are - radically outgunned by the criminal element in our society. I don't want cops with fully automatic rifles and grenade launchers showing up at a campus protest, but neither do I want cops with nightstick and stun guns to have to face felons who are armed with automatic weapons and heavy artillery.

As long as the local police are appropriate and/or proportionate in their response, I really don't mind them having recourse to the equipment they might need to defend themselves (and perchance me).

As Stilton alludes above, I am much more concerned that our Federal Government is the one currently arming up. I for one have not forgotten Ă˜bama's desire for his own security force, nor have I ignored the fact that they have been purchasing a lot of weapons that have been too dangerous for the rest of "We the People."

Theoretically, the local police still live in the communities where they serve, and can potentially be held accountable by the local citizens. The Federal Government has proven over and over again, from regime to regime that it will not be held accountable by anyone.

  16. Add drunk Secret Service agents crashing the White House gates to the long list of big government embarrassments. These guys are supposed to be the elite of the elite. And yet they now more resemble some sort of Keystone Cops-meet-porno act.

Remember this as the government takes over more and more aspects of your daily life. If the people reporting directly to the President are such a mess, then what chance to any of the rest of us have?

  17. I was dismayed to hear comments made by the City Manager in Ferguson (supposedly an educated man) claiming the police were shot by other police in order to blame blacks and that the police acted like the KKK. Justice for Michael Brown is what he and the protesters want. IMO Michael Brown got exactly the justice he deserved. When protesters loudly and repetitively chant violence against the police, who is surprised when violence is aimed at police?

    ReplyDelete
  18. @txGreg- I agree that it's fine for the police to have military grade tools at their disposal (assuming proper training goes with it) as long as they don't trot them out as a matter of routine.

And like you, I'm not forgetting all of the automatic weapons and staggering amounts of ammo the government has been purchasing lately.

@John the Econ- Look at nearly any bureaucratic agency in Washington and it's clear the wheels are coming off.

I will reluctantly say, though, that at least for the next two years I can forgive ineptitude in those tasked with putting their lives on the line for this president.

@Shelly- That city manager wasn't from Ferguson, but some other little podunk city nearby. I believe his name is John C. Muhammad, and he's got the Farrakhan (or is it Pee Wee Herman?) suit and bowtie to let us know that he's not only a racist asshole, but seemingly also a Nation of Islam member. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course...

As for Michael Brown, he got exactly what he had coming to him. And I'm sick of people trying to paint him as the Rosa Parks of strong arm robbery.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I also agree that Michael Brown got what he deserved, if indeed he attempted to grab the officer's gun as has been stated. Also, as the eyewitness testimony has been debunked as far as the "hands up, don't shoot!" scenario goes; like many other punk thugs in his class, I believe the battle cry "pants up, don't loot!" Is far more appropriate.

  20. I agree that an epidemic of blue flu may be wrong and that this administration and it's delusional minions and puppet masters may have deliberately caused and perpetuated the unrest in Ferguson for the sole purpose of letting the traitor in chief declare martial law. If that happens, then we are indeed over. But I see no reason why the police should have to put up with this. They are pretty much all that these citizens have standing between them and total destruction. (EG Detroit). If they're too stupid to understand this, then let the chips fall where they may.

  21. Note also the near total lack of leadership or constructive involvement by the Governor of Missouri, another Democrat. He has an agenda as well; it's 99.9%about promoting himself. He's not going near anything this messy. For political posturing he'll call out state's national guard if black clouds appear on the horizon (as he did earlier with this mess) but he also kept the Guard out of Ferguson when things were most unstable. I'll give him partial credit: At least he's not leading in an entirely wrong direction; but in silence he's allowing national Democratic leadership to do that.

  23. Everyone keeps saying "handgun". What are they basing that identification on? No one saw the shooter and remember this is the "Hands up, Don't shoot" bunch. Their eye-witness statements probably aren't worth much.
I haven't heard anyone talking about the caliber of the round used, although the police say they have shell casings. There are long guns that use ammunition more often used in handguns (I own one) and are easily able to make a 125 yard shot (and yes, I can). If the shot was from the crowd, yes, it probably was from a handgun, but a long gun from a distance cannot be ruled out.

  25. In all fairness to the drunken SS agents it was reported that they were on teddy kennedy's detail at one time so their idea off just how sober one has to be to conduct federal service might be somewhat impaired.

  26. As a side note it does well to keep in mind that many urban and suburban police depts are made of two entirely seperate components, rank and file and political appointed chiefs and leaders. They often do not share the same opinions and goals.
So official statements and views that receive notice may have little bearing on reality.

  27. Good morning Stilton, I know you'd be interested in other countries views of your current situation so here's part of a post by Australian blogger Larry Pickering:
'Obama in six short years has damaged alliances, wrecked his own economy, started an internal race war, opened his borders to millions of Democratic-voting aliens, weakened homeland security, denied an Islamic link to terrorism, courtesied to the Saudis, emboldened China, ignored North Korea, started another cold war with Russia, excited and encouraged the Islamic enemy and has set the entire Middle East alight while he sucks on a joint at the 19th hole.'
Larry has been a thorn in the side of Australian politicians for 40+ years, he plays no left/right favourites. You can find his stuff at: www.pickeringpost.com
