The Mitts Are Off

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, romney, trump, hillary, sanders

A few hours before last night's 247th GOP Debate (the first without Dr. Ben Carson, which will free up an additional 30 seconds of time for the remaining candidates to divide), former presidential candidate Mitt "It Would Be Rude To Bring Up Benghazi" Romney took to the airwaves to attack current GOP frontrunner Donald "Flaccid Fingers" Trump.

Romney, using language stronger than any he ever aimed at B. Hussein, accused Trump of being "a phony" and "a fraud" whose "promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University." Romney added that Trump would be an economic disaster, throwing us into recession, initiating trade wars, and driving businesses and entrepreneurs from our shores.

Romney eventually finished his harangue saying Trump has a reckless temperament and "when it comes to foreign policy, he is very, very not smart."

Zing! Bang! Pow! Zooooom!

But... Hope n' Change doubts that this will bother Trump and his loyal legions in the least.  Quite the reverse; we think this will help solidify support as his fans decide that their hero is under attack from all sides, and that the old-guard GOP really is the enemy Trump's been warning about. Which may translate to a general election in which they'll pull the switch for Trump, but not help down-ballot Republicans. Consider (assuming you have liquor within easy reach) the "great deals" which would be made by a president Trump working with a Democratic House and Senate...

Because it's really the Democrats who are getting all of the benefit out of the flame wars and food fights occurring between the GOP candidates and the elite and powerful party puppet-masters.

Granted, it's not unusual for the GOP to shoot itself in the foot at election time. But perhaps a ban on using automatic weapons to do so might be worth considering.

  2. Too bad these gop-e lions who fight tooth and nail have never ever tried it against a demonrat.
I stopped cash to the rnc years ago when I found out they spent most of it attacking conservative republicans.
Hat tip: The enemy is on the left.

  3. WOW BIFF PUNCH POOT! That Mitty does know how to attack. Too bad it's four years too late and the wrong party. But isn't that GOP elite sumpin? They managed to drag out all their losers to heap abuse on the GOP front runner. What a surprise and it's not even close to October. The Republican Hallowe'en party is going to be one for this decade.

You can't spell Republican without Corruption.

  5. Romney-who supported amnesty, the global warming fiasco, Ă˜bamacare, abortion, and flip flopped on several other issues-is not what I would call a bastion of conservative values. Then again, what can you expect from yet another phoney neocon Republicrat?

  6. Ask the fortune teller if she sees a two-party system continuing into the future; but the Republican Party isn't one of them. That may be our way out of this mess.

    Gaaah !
If I can see it, why can't they ?
Not that the Republican party as it stands today speaks for me in any way, but still...

  8. Random Thoughts:

For many of us, the Paul Ryan-led capitulation of the House on the obama budget was the last straw. If the GOP fat cats are too blind to see that, they need to go find another litter box to befoul.

As for Romney: where was Fightin' Mitt four years ago?

As for Trump: right message - wrong messenger.

As for hillary and/or Bernie - God help us all if either of them plops their worthless behind in the Oval Office.

Where is the Libertarian Party when we need them?

  9. Over the last 18 hours or so, I've noted the recurring theme that Romney has been far more aggressive against Trump than he was against Obama. Possible. But to be fair, this was largely because practically any less-than-wonderful personal observations about Obama were (and largely still are) considered "racist", whereas Trump, as another "old white guy" is fair game for any level of nastiness. Even Trump somewhat mutes himself when talking about Obama the individual.

But @Stilton is right; Romney's rebuke against Trump won't likely have much any measurable effect upon Trump's popularity. As accurate as it might have been, Romney still represents the GOP establishment that long ago sold out the middle class and even now remains tone deaf to the angst that fuels Trump's popularity.

The old-guard GOP really is the enemy, just as much as the kleptocracy that Hillary represents and the 1880's economics of Sanders is.

Hey political class, listen up! Have you yet noticed that when Trump talks, he talks to "Americans" whereas when most of the others talk, they're pandering to individual demographic slices that both parties have been working to scientifically divide up for decades? After this year is done and the social scientists (at least the honest ones) crunch the data, they're likely to fund that Trump represents the most diverse following in history, literally shattering the Progressive narratives about race, class and culture. Trumps followers don't think in terms of "White America", "Black America", "Hispanic America", etc. They simply think of "America" where everyone gets a shot at success.

"...it's really the Democrats who are getting all of the benefit out of the flame wars and food fights occurring between the GOP candidates and the elite and powerful party puppet-masters."

Is that really true? I know they think they are, but I don't think that's actually the case. Just as the GOP has done practically nothing for the middle class, the Democrats have done even worse.

Which is why I remain somewhat optimistic. What we may be witnessing here is the much-needed destruction of the political oligopoly that has exists in America for over a century-and-a-half. The only question is, "Is it too late?".

  11. We have PLENTY of major uncomplimentary things to say about Obama without going near his skin color or mixed race. He's clearly a racist and has skillfully used his skin color. He's also a Muslim sympathizer (favor Sunni; enable Salafists)& likely still Islamic at heart. IMO also mentally ill & other religion is Obmamism.

It's also now clear my parents, family and I weren't racist in early life but I admit to becoming a bit more recently; the initial color tag in-fact is often valid. Obama & the Democrat Party get most credit for that. It's perfectly fair & legal to think very negatively of people because of attitude, character, values, actions; just not their race etc. This is said with apologies to the many (most) for whom I've absolutely no bias no matter their race or religion; and I've put that into practice all my life.

  12. Great post and comments, everyone! The Grand Old Party is crapping their pants over the remaining candidates. They are clinging to Rubio, but even he is way more conservative than they prefer.

Romney and his ilk don't understand that the reason Trump and Cruz are doing so well is the voters are sick to tears of RINOs that promise to fight if elected, then turn into Caspar Milquetoast at the mere sight of somebody like O'Liar, Reid, Pelosi, or (either) Clinton. Romney folded like a cheap lawn chair during his alleged debates against O'Liar, and he's pointing fingers at Trump? I guess what irks me most about guys like Romney, McCain or McConnell is, when they are confronted with a Demorat and immediately decide to drop trou and bend over, WE are the ones who get stuck doing the actual bending over, not them! They pat themselves on the back and proudly proclaim, "Well I TRIED to fight it. It would just get vetoed anyway!"

For many frustrated years I have watched the DNC operate like Trump is operating right now. Crap weasels like Reid are not afraid to spout complete BS to belittle Republicans, and (sadly) that strategy works. Despite my disdain for it, I'll admit that I would really enjoy a few Democrats getting some of their own medicine.

The Pulse of Our Nation ....................
    PURE GOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This letter was sent to 100% FED Up! by an anonymous author:

So here it is, the best analogy I could come up with. Here is the reason so many Americans have boarded the Trump Train, and why you’re pleas to come back to the party who deserted us, is falling on deaf ears:
You’ve been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with racoons. Hundreds of rabid, messy, mean racoons have overtaken your basement. You want them gone immediately…You call the city and four different exterminators, but nobody could handle the job. There is this one guy however, who guarantees you he will get rid of them, so you hire him. You don’t care if the guy smells, you don’t care if the guy swears, you don’t care how many times he’s been married, you don’t care if he was friends with liberals, you don’t care if he has plumber’s crack…you simply want those racoons gone! You want your problem fixed! He’s the guy. He’s the best. Period. Here’s why we want Trump: Yes he’s a bit of an ass, yes he’s an egomaniac, but we don’t care. The country is a mess because politicians have become too self-serving. The Republican Party is two-faced & gutless. Illegal aliens have been allowed to invade our nation. We want it all fixed! We don’t care that Trump is crude, we don’t care that he insults people, we don’t care that he had been friendly with Hillary, we don’t care that he has changed positions, we don’t care that he’s been married three times, we don’t care that he fights with Megan Kelly and Rosie O’Donnell, we don’t care that he doesn’t know the name of some Muslim terrorist.

This country is weak, bankrupt, our enemies are making fun of us, we are being invaded by illegal aliens and bringing tens of thousands of Muslim refugees to America, while leaving Christians behind to be persecuted. We are becoming a nation of victims where every Tom, Ricardo and Hasid is part of a special group with special rights, to the point where we don’t even recognize the country we were born and raised in; “AND WE JUST WANT IT FIXED” and Trump is the only guy who seems to understand what the people want.

We’re sick of politicians. We’re sick of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. We just want this thing fixed. Trump may not be a saint, but he isn’t beholden to lobbyist money and he doesn’t have political correctness restraining him. All we know is that he has been very successful, he’s an excellent negotiator, he has built a lot of things, and he’s also not a politician. He’s definitely not a cowardly politician. When he says he’ll fix it, we believe him because he is too much of an egotist to be proven wrong or looked at and called a liar.

Oh yeah…I forgot…we don’t care if the guy has bad hair either.

We just want those raccoons gone.

    Out of your house.

    NOW!

  17. I am beginning to think that every last mother's son in the GOP who is running for presidunce is intellectually stunted somewhere south of twelve.

The most intelligent, well spoken of them has now dropped out, proving that nice doesn't play well in politics. IMO the US is screwed. It won't matter which party takes the White House the idiotic games as usual will continue. The option of riding even further back into the high country, getting rid of the cell phone and computer, and being left alone is looking better every day.

    Just my two cents worth.

  20. So many great observations!

@ Charlie Mitchell - just so freaking spot-on! Neither Bernie nor Hillary! need to spend a dime on campaigning; our guys are doing it for them. The left has the complicit assistance from the media, who are all too willing to say or infer anything as long as it garners ratings.

We know the questions are loaded; we know the questions are unfair because we also know the media will never ask such probing questions of Hillary! ("Vote for me because I have a vagina") Clinton. Deal with it!

Donald, you made Megyn Kelly a star by picking a fight. She's not that talented but by losing your temper you dragged her into the spotlight so now she is the media darling, not you. Get a freaking grip and start prepping for those questions.

If I could address those standing on the stage at the debate: knock it off! Yeah, we want passion but y'all are standing in a circle, shooting each other - this election carries too much weight for such antics. Stop acting like schoolyard bullies and get to work by persuading people to vote for you.

I can only pray the media treats Bernie and Hillary! to the same questions ... it won't happen but a girl can dream.

    @ Anonymous - great analogy!

  21. If it comes to Hilliery VS Trump, I'll unwillingly vote for Trump so as not to throw the prize to Hilliery, but he is NOT the only one on the stage who gets it. Cruz and also Rubio get it, they just don't have such a loud mouth. I'd rather NOT have a philandering con artist with a porno model 3rd. wife in the White House. But then I guess it's not much worse then the dic we have now with his mother's background or Mr. Clinton who wants to be first man and is a piece of slime. Without someone of moral character in the WH, we'll continue down the road to our doom and the end of the USA.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Truman's language was considered colorful, if NSFW.
JFK was quite the philanderer, crook, and a phony. He got a non-combat award for saving a sailor's life (but JFK put himself and his crew in jeopardy trying to show his cojones by playing chicken with a Japanese destroyer).
LBJ was a serial philanderer, coarse and uncouth.
WJC was a serial philanderer and a crook and a jerk.

So Trump isn't that much of a new experience, except the media isn't covering for him like he did for the others.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Dan,

You have to give a bit more credit to JFK. He wasn't "playing chicken" with a Japanese destroyer, he was running at darkened ship, and it was definitely DARK out that night. The next night, he went out--alone--into the channel with just a .45 and a flashlight hoping to flag down a US ship. He probably should have been disciplined for leaving his men behind and/or not delegating someone else to go out, but he did go out himself. I'd say he had some cojones--then, at least. The media, sadly, did refuse to do their job then and now by covering for Demo_Rats and ONLY Demo_Rats.

  24. Noting "national" adjustment in Lying Witch's" campaign; she knows how to do it.

The Republican silliness reminds me of raising our two boys (who are fine men now.) But back in the day they first tried to see how deep of a hole they could dig themselves into before getting their acts together & growing up. Our daughter was never so stupid or so much trouble.

Maybe Fiorina and Carson should stand by. As long as they're not inside-the-beltway club members, and will use all means & truth to defeat Hillary I'd be OK with them. Give DIRECTABLE & DISMISSABLE underling jobs to these current "leaders".

  25. @Readers- Great stuff above! I have to apologize for not adding to the comments because of a minor physical problem (prepare to break out the world's smallest violin). Owing to too much time at the computer keyboard, I've got a pinched nerve in my back which is making my pinky finger into a tingling mass of numb flesh (you know the feeling when you whack your crazy bone? That's what I've got - the ulnar nerve having a good laugh at my expense). Anyway, it hurts (well, a little) to type and so I've GOT to try to back away from the computer for awhile. Mind you, I'm not going anywhere - I just can't be as verbose as I'd like! No doubt, this is in answer to someone's prayers (grin).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sorry about the nerve thing. Don't let anyone say that being a nation-leading blogger is without physical toil and toll!

And thanks for killing the nonsense from the guy who likes prostitutes. Fundamentally, I'm a Libertarian on such things. But I also have a lot of friends who are currently working with rescuing women (young girls, really) from "the life". The stories they relate break the heart. Don't let anyone fool you into it being entirely a "free will" thing. It's not.

Hillary: I think too many people are missing the central point. The real issue here isn't merely about "sensitive documents", which the Clintonistas will drive into distraction with a by-design tiresome "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" relativity debate. The real issue is that there was only one reason for Hillary to commission a private server: To escape accountability. The rest of the debate is simply noise. This is just a sample of the kind of evasions that will be the norm with a 2nd Clinton administration.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @John the Econ- Thanks for the sympathy. Apparently what I have is "cervical radiculopathy" based on nerve impingement from my 8th vertebra. Which sounds better than "rotten posture and unwillingness to walk away from the computer." It's darned unpleasant.

Yeah, I don't know WHAT the pro-prostitution guy was on about. I'm not entirely closed to the idea of legalization, but I am entirely closed to the idea of it being a good career choice for any woman.

And YES YES YES on the issue of Hillary's emails. It's bad that she totally compromised secret documents, but the big question is what crimes did she intend to commit (and surely did) that caused her to set up a private server in the first place? I'm betting the roots go very deep into the Clinton Family Foundation, and influence peddling to some very bad actors.

  28. @Stilton - sorry to hear about your back problems mate but I can offer palliative solutions. I also suffer periodical spinal pains, a legacy from a parachute failure long ago but I've learned some tricks to alleviate it.

Do you have an exposed staircase at your house, or a friend's? Get underneath it and backwalk upwards until you are taking your body weight with your feet and hang there a few minutes. The secret to easing back pain is: Decompression. Of the individual vertebrae that is, allowing the individual bones to relax and release trapped and/or pinched nerves within. This works. If no stairs or parallel bars are available, here's another method: Lie flat on your back on the floor, draw your knees up as far as you can to your chest, lock your arms behind your knees and rock backwards and forwards a few times, release, relax then repeat but put the effort in to gain results.

These little tricks work believe me but you aren't helping yourself if you don't get up from the keyboard at least once an hour, walk once round the house or yard, have a drink of water then continue. I can get engrossed chasing threads online but after a while my back says "Walk me,you sucker!" which I do.

  30. The problem with the racoon analogy is that the guy talks a good game but has never actually wrangled a racoon. He might have a plan to turn your basement into the site of a raccoon reality show. He might go bankrupt halfway through and not be able to finish the job. A basement half-full of really irate racoons is not an improvement.

Yes, Trump has figured out what people want to hear. But does he have a plan? Does he know what a foreign policy is? Does he have enough judgment to be commander in chief?

I don't know whether I would vote for Trump over Hillary. If that were really the choice I would study their teams and if Hillary had good foreign policy advisers I would consider her. Yes, she fucked up bigtime at State. Still might be acceptable as a figurehead if she had a good team. Yes she is unsuitable for commander-in-chief, the thought is very disturbing, but would she be worse than Trump? Maybe not.

And Trump says he wants universal health care, so how is that helpful? He is a leftist in disguise. Listen to what he says about policy the few times he mentions it. He sounds unhinged to me.

I'm with Cruz. Rubio would be fine with me, I don't quite get why he is flaming out.

But then I hate politics and have never understood it all. Following it now just because things are so dire. Have been a single-issue voter on national security for the past 30 years. Now we have a national security disaster in the making all around the world and that issue is barely making it into the election discussion.

Well at least we have Stilt.
