Conventional Wisdumb

The Democratic convention is in full swing which, through Herculean effort, we will not use as a set up for a joke involving nooses. Oh sure, it would be funny - but (to quote Richard Nixon) "it would be wrong, that's for sure."

Especially since one of the opening evening's speakers was Michelle Obama, the wife of our nation's first half-white black president, there to give a ringing endorsement to Hillary Clinton - the wife of our nation's first all-white black president.

Choosing, as ever, to take the high road, Michelle whined for the umpteenth time that she wakes up each day in a house built by slaves - which she apparently finds more upsetting than having her pricey wardrobe, dozens of personal "assistants," and luxury 5-star vacations paid for by slaves.

Still, the first lady's presence and well-toned bare arms helped take the spotlight off the previously scheduled woman who suddenly found herself in the doghouse...

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, DNC, debbie wasserman-schultz, email
Hilariously, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was booed out of her own event, taken off the speaking schedule, and forced to resign as head of the DNC after leaked emails proved that the DNC was in collusion with Hillary's campaign to burn the Bern and rig the Democratic primaries.

As a bonus, the leaked emails also made coarse remarks about "homos," referred to Latinos collectively as the "taco bowl," mocked the names of black people, documented myriad dirty tricks, and showed an unbelievable level of incestuous contact with the news media.

As a result of this still-breaking scandal, the DNC has announced that they're launching an internal investigation to determine how the emails got leaked (as opposed to apologizing for tasteless, immoral, and possibly criminal behavior), and the thoroughly disgraced and disgraceful Wasserman-Schultz has suddenly been made the honorary chair of Hillary's presidential campaign. As the old saying goes, "no bad deed will go unrewarded."

Meanwhile, the convention presses on, with hopes that the tension between the supporters of Sanders and Clinton can be quelled by the soothing presence of "The Great Unifier," Joe Biden...

But of course, not all of the political news is about Democrats. So let us turn our eyes and ears elsewhere...

Yikes! How did that happen?! Sabotage by Vladimir Putin?! We'll certainly launch an immediate internal investigation into the horrible joke above, although we're guessing it will prove to be extreme carelessness rather than intentional wrongdoing.

Actually, we were trying to go to our Hope n' Change field reporter, Fred Ciampi,  for his exclusive on-the-spot coverage of Donald Trump's latest town hall meeting in Roanoke, Virginia. Take it away, Fred...

Well, I went to Trump's town hall in Roanoke yesterday. After driving 65 miles we got to stand in the 92 degree sun for about 3 hours. Then the doors opened and we were inside in less than an hour. Thankfully, the Roanoke police and sheriff's department did a masterful job of keeping all 20 protesters about two blocks away. The newsniks and their TV cameras took shots from about 87 different  angles of the protesters to make it look as if there were 17 million of them. They also interviewed the protesters in depth.

After we got in we sat down in nice padded chairs that were made for skinny people and waited for two more hours. Someone sang the National Anthem, then we all said the Pledge of Allegiance. Nowhere could I see anyone standing around with their arms crossed or looking at their cell phone during these activities.

A preacher gave a good spiel, some big bald guy said something, then Pence, and then Donald Trump. All the talking lasted for about an hour. Then The Donald took about five questions and left. Oh, I think I know why Pence was picked for the Veep spot; of all the choices, he has the best looking 'executive' hair.

With my 92% hearing loss I couldn't understand a word anyone said but just being there was worth the trip. So, all in all, I got to witness a part of history yesterday. Then I went home and had a beer.

Thank you, Fred. You earned that beer - and just maybe a Pulitzer for Hope n' Change!

  1. Well...with all that in mind, I think I'll go take a dump and giggle about Jerald getting roughed up by the BLM crowd in Philly. Peace, out. Jim G. Checking in from Coronado, CA.

  2. I am sick of the First Hypocrite bringing up slaves as if only whites owned them even though the first slave owner in America was a black man and her Saudi buddies still own them.
It wasn't only slaves that built the White House. There were Irishmen and Scots as well. Also, those blacks who did work on it were paid rather decent wages.
Besides, the place was burned in 1814 and was rebuilt.

  3. Loved the Al Jolson thing. Now, the DNC which is firmly against photo ID for voting has the attendees show a Photo ID to attend. Rather ironic. This has got to be gathering of the most hypocritical folks in the universe. (Wish this had a edit function)

  4. I don't know what the first wench is bitching about, the WH was built by her peeps. Seems not much has changed. They had to bring in people who would do the jobs Americans wouldn't do.

Good Debbie Washer-woman Schultz cartoon. Although I do feel for all the dogs out there who've been slighted.

  5. Good job Fred- without a doubt the best, most complete and most honest coverage I have seen anywheres lately!!!!
I especially enjoyed the tail end.

I have to admit it, the last 8 years of listening to the media whine and drone -a hear loss is not always a bad thing in my case- selective hearing is even better though it takes years to develop.
The real trick with selective hearing is to know when she is just going on or whether she is really trying to slide something by you.
Like "you remember Shelia and Fred they....and.....but....VS "mom says she coming by and bringing my brother,Curtis, when she picks him up from jail if that's OK with you?"
"Yes dear" is not always the appropriate answer.

  6. @Geoff King- Exactly. How inconvenient of you to bring facts to the discussion, that's just not fair in the world of Obama.

  7. @Geoff King- yeah, it amazes me that those who make the slave argument always ignore the fact that the black slaves were sold to the white slavers by other blacks.

  8. @ Geoff: You're exactly right. The first bitch had to get it's racist digs in And the side view taken while she/he was giving this propaganda speech showed it needs to loose about 40 pounds off its a$$. Also, to the dic and dicette, the white slavers were muslims. Those oh so peaceful folks who are stuck in the 7th century.

  9. Leave it to YOU, Stilton, to produce a photo that depicts the Wookiee as looking human! Of course the LAST panel shows the cellulite in her chin, those first two are actually nice. Thank you for helping me keep my breakfast down.

  11. Fox Chicago sent out a female African American (or is it black now) to the DNC. Shes loving it. Interviewed some 'big wig' woman this morning about the crappy glass ceiling animation (they thought it was ground-breaking) that was done on Tuesday. The woman was babbling on and on and I caught a bit that struck me as stupid. She said "for the 8 and 9 year olds a Black man as President is normal". He's not Black, he's Mullato (I hope that spelled correctly). He's neither 100% Black and neither 100% White. Why do they ignore half his DNA? His White mother took care of him till his White grandparents took over. Where were his Black grandparents? Kenya. Daddy (typical) left long before. So, as I see it, we still have not had a true first Black President. Maybe the Republicans can get a worthy 100% Black man (ooooo, even better, Black woman) to get the nomination. Then a Hispanic running mate.

  13. Given that Trump never really WAS a Republican, and seems intent on burning the party down and starting over, perhaps he should give it a different name?

    Whigs, perhaps?

  14. Thank you Stilt for the notoriety. I think Bullmoose would be a good name for The Donald's new party. In the memory of Teddy 'Rex' Roosevelt. Donald kind of reminded me of Teddy Rex when he speaks. He tells it like it is. "Speak loudly and carry a bigger stick".

  15. As for the email Investigation, maybe this guy knew:

27-Year-Old DNC Staffer Seth Rich Shot, Killed in Northwest DC

[Former] DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued a statement on Monday mourning the death of Rich, who worked as voter expansion data director. “Our hearts are broken with the loss of one of our DNC family members over the weekend. Seth Rich was a dedicated, selfless public servant who worked tirelessly to protect the most sacred right we share as Americans – the right to vote," she said. "He saw the great potential of our nation and believed that, together, we can make the world a better place."

I don't know if he was in charge of "taco bowl" or "homo" expansion, Sanders' degree of Jewishness, or the myriad of other distasteful racist, patronizing or just outright arrogant discussions revealed. But at this point, what difference does it make? It's just a small sample of the kind of arrogance and coincidental things that happen in and around any Clinton endevour and what we can expect for at least the next 4-plus years.

  16. I was at the cabin for a couple of nights and it's not fully wired & satellite linked. There are just few broadcast TV channels; some of you may remember them. You know, with the big outside antenna? The only decent reception this time was (1) The DNC, (2) The Bachelorette, or (3) syndicated oldies. I settled on "The Outer Limits" & "Hogan's Heroes". They were more believable than the others.

Another person with possibly damaging information about the Clintons dead. The list must be well over a hundred now. When is the media going to realize whvere there's smoke, there's fire. At the rate she's going, she will burn down the entire country and the media will never have a clue.

Add that possibility to the recent killing of Molly Macaulay. She was a well-respected & well-researched NASA scientist who was likely about to publish factual evidence disproving the global warming/client change theme; upon which a lot of populist globalism is based. Another inconvenient truth; likely & conveniently silenced.

  19. @Stilton - I posted this over at Tim Blair's yesterday on his DNC thread so you may like it. Cheers

"What you’re seeing at the DNC is an illustration of the differences between Left & Right political parties.

For the most part Rightist parties tend to be Centre-Right, Right or Hard Right depending on their levels of reactionary policy.

On the Left however the mix is much more confusing. You have Centre-Leftists, Leftists, Rightist-Leftists, Hard Leftists, LeftRightLeftists, Socialists, Marxists, Stalinists, Trotskyites, Maoists, Communists and Billy Bragg.

Put all the Lefties in a room for a discussion meeting with one soft agenda item and it will descend into factional bickering and vitriolic denunciations within 30 minutes, possibly fisticuffs depending on the venue*."

    * Fun Fact: the negotiating teams at the Paris Peace Talks to decide the outcome of the Vietnam War spent weeks arguing about the shape of the table.

  22. Another topic: The "More Educated" voter:

I’ve noticed this meme being propagated more and more lately by Progressives in response to the Trump phenomenon, so I think it’s time I address it:

“The more ‘educated’ and individual is, the more likely they are to vote for Democrats (Hillary or Sanders) over Trump”

The insinuation is as obvious as it is arrogantly elitist. “Educated” people are obviously more trained and enlightened, so their political decisions are clearly superior to the lesser educated (or simply “ignorant”) masses who favor Trump, or Republicans in general. This serves well to feed the smug arrogance and egos of Progressives, who openly boast that they’re the smartest people in the room even as they spew forth little more than illogical insanity.

The funny part is that barely a few generations ago, the assumption was the exact opposite; It was well known that it was Republicans who were typically the higher educated, and more affluent. The association between education and affluence was obvious, as up until the latter half of the last century, it usually took a certain amount of affluence to be able to afford to attend most universities, and that education almost certainly translated into a profession that paid much more than most other careers of the time. And those people typically recognized that liberal policies were either detrimental to the health of the economy, and certainly their personal bottom line as well.

But that’s no longer the assumption, and I don’t dispute it at all that today people who have attended university do favor policy and politicians from the left unlike they did generations ago.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So what’s changed over the last 30 years or so?

Well, education has. For one thing, today more people attend college than ever before in the history of higher education. Subsidized state schools combined with easily obtainable student debt has seen to that. There’s little question that to accommodate the millions more being enrolled, that standards at universities have changed. It used to be hard to get into almost any 4-year university. That’s no longer the case as the criteria favored by college admission boards these days focus less on academic achievement than on other social factors, like “community involvement” or “diversity”. Many states offer guaranteed admission to state schools to those who maintain a nominal grade point average. This has also contributed to grade inflation at most secondary schools in those states virtually guarantee passage to a college.

And what colleges teach has changed as well. Today’s universities are chock full of curriculum available to major in that simply didn’t exist 30 or 40 years ago. (Think anything with the word “studies” in the title) The worst of these programs are little more than degrees in propaganda, and the number of students in these programs dwarf those of the students in the sciences. And as today’s university leadership and professorship is almost totally dominated by the Progressive left, it’s little surprise that even the non-fluff disciplines are heavily laden with Progressive propaganda.

With high unemployment and $1.3-trillion in outstanding student debt an yet employers complaining that they can’t find qualified workers suggests that a lot of these “educated” people are not as well educated as many would like to think. So I’m not at all surprised to see that today the majority of people who’ve attended university tend to vote Progressively. They’ve learned little else.

So when Progressives now state that Democratic voters are “more educated”, I am not impressed.

What I’d like to see is a study that breaks down exactly what these “educated” individuals graduated in correlated with their political preferences. It’s my suspicion that the more difficult the field, the less Progressive those individuals tend to be. In fact, I’d suggest that this is probably the reason we won’t be seeing any such study coming out of academia any time soon. What they’ll probably find is that Progressives are less “educated” than “schooled”.

  24. Oh, the humanity!! Poor widdle Michelle has SUFFERED all these agonizing years of being forced to live in a house built by slaves?! This might explain all of those million dollar vacations; she just HAD to escape! Do we all agree that she should not be forced to endure this one minute longer? She should start packing her shit and get out NOW!

    ReplyDelete
  25. @John the Econ,

When I hear the talking heads dutifully repeat that the more educated tend to vote Democrat, I mentally rephrase from more educated to more indoctrinated. I think a lot of our "education" system from low to high is aimed more at pushing (modern) liberal/progressive ideology than in actual education.

It used to be that the former students would overcome that at some point after moving on into the real world. I fear now though that the nanny state has become so ubiquitous, for those who desire it and are "approved," that they will likely never grow up.

  27. @Readers- Great comments above but I'm chasing my tail today and can't add my own two cent's worth just now. Carry on!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Stilton, I'd be careful personally using metaphors like "chasing tail" in any forums involving a Clinton. Too easy to get misinterpreted, like Trump's supposed challenge to hack Hillary's email to the Russians. Any informed person has long since known that the Russians acquired the pre-purged set of emails years ago and are going to sit on them until after Hillary's elected.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Econ John: EXACTLY!! Mrs. SoCal and I were disgusting this last night.(the e-mail thingy, not Stilty chasing tail) The Russians couldn't get any more info than they already have as the multiple servers Hagglery had are long gone and buried next to Jimmy Hoffa. In our not so humble opinion, we think Trump was just asking the Rooskies to release what they probably already have. That's not inciting Russian espionage, it would be revealing Hillary espionage.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @David in SoCal, it also explodes the myth that there was absolutely nothing relevant or sensitive in those 30,000+ deleted messages. And by making a stink about this, the Dumbocrats are both reminding people and educating others about the most egregious aspect of Hillary's server scandal; That the real purpose of the "private server" was to escape accountability for what she was up to as both Secretary of State and a principal of the Clinton Foundation money laundering operation.

Another idiot savant success by Trump.

  31. John; if I may: 'Idiot Savant Success by Trump' is the name of my new band. We are opening for 'Bill's Protein Stain' on Saturday at the Bacchanal in Kearny Mesa. No cover charge any time.

  32. @John the Econ & David in SoCal- In point of fact, the notion of Putin sitting on those "missing" emails to use as blackmail is the subject of one of my cartoons tomorrow. Imagine a president who knows she could be impeached on Vlad's whim. Then again, we may not have to imagine it.

I, too, like the phrase "Idiot Savant Success by Trump." I keep hearing people grab onto his pronouncements and finding cunning strategies and delicious nuance. Uh, no - the man simply has logorrhea but occasionally the shit sticks to something other than his own shoes.

That being said, it IS hilarious to hear the Dems shout "treason!" because Trump invited Russia to hack sensitive information. What could POSSIBLY have been more "inviting" than an unsecured private server...or a moron who pecks her email password on her blackberry keyboard on foreign soil while observed (almost certainly) by high-def surveillance cameras?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks @David in Socal for the belly-laugh of the evening.

I'm thinking of starting a new band, "Vanilla ISIS" with Mrs. Econ in a bourqua as "Sharia Twain".

Did you guys catch that shot of Bernie burning up at Hillary's coronation? Who's feeling the Bern now? Yeah Bernie, you got so used, tool. Hillary didn't get where she is by debating the issues. Bet you've second-guessed not going for Hillary's throat during the debate on the email thing now, haven't you? I bet you really, really are sick of hearing about those emails now, and will become even more so when Trump gets to debate her instead of you.

It's funny seeing the left all of a sudden utter the word "treason". Why do I suspect that by the end of the week, they'll be regretting that too?

    ReplyDelete
  34. It seems strange that Hitlery's missing emails, which COULD have been hacked by Russians, was found to be no big thing-- nothing to see here by the libtards, but now that DNC campaign emails MAY be hacked by Russians, it's the crime of the century and it's Trump's sarcastic comment that's at fault. Double standard????
