Wiretapped Phonecall: Pot Calls Kettle

In order to help translate wiretapped phonecalls related to narcotics investigations, the Department of Justice is trying to hire linguists "fluent in Ebonics."

Ebonics is a nonstandard variant of English which includes features "like the omission of the final consonant in words like ‘past’ (pas’ ) and ‘hand’ (han’), the pronunciation of the th in ‘bath’ as t (bat) or f (baf), and the pronunciation of the vowel in words like ‘my’ and ‘ride’ as a long ah (mah, rahd).”

Ebonics first rose to national attention in 1996 when liberals (let us repeat, to be absolutely clear: LIBERALS) with the Oakland, California schoolboard declared Ebonics to be a special language which is genetically based" in African Americans. Ouch.

But that was then, and this is now...and the need for Ebonics translators is urgent. Senate majority leader Harry Reid has previously praised Barack Hussein Obama's linguistic skills, noting that he spoke with "no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one."

But sadly, the president is too busy building bridges with the Muslim world to waste his time building bridges between the worlds of Ebonics and English.

Frankly, Hope n' Change doesn't know anything about Ebonics.
But Steve Harvey is calling for an
"English/Ebonics" dictionary.

  1. Reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from the movie "Airplane":
    Oh Stewardess,I Speak Jive!

  2. Bill Cosby has much - much - to say on this subject. Steve Harvey alludes to Bill's talking points, but he doesn't have Cosby's cajones to "out" the society on it. The majority of what generates and fosters the need for an ebonics dictionary is the liberal need for dependents, of "constituents" who are absolutely dependent on them for their survival. By supporting promiscuity among them by making it easy for them to deal with the repercussions - no: by rewarding them for the repercussions! - turning their heads against high drop-out rates and ensuring that they are paid by the state. Removing all responsibility accountability from their society (and it is a very different society from what most of us see and understand)...

But, more, it is their own failure to rise above these "soft chains" imposed by liberal government and pursue a better life for themselves. it is the failure of the parents to strive for more for their children, and to inspire their children to pursue more... This should not be surprising, though: the family does not exist for them. A family with both parents is exceedingly rare. Many "families" do not share event the same father. Their society is a microcosm of the execution of the Communist Manifesto, which holds that the family unit is counter to the goals of "community ownership" of the fruits of production.

If you need any proof at all of the parallels between liberal politics and communism, you really need look no further than the black communities living in poverty across the country - those that are full dependent on the state, and make being so a "career choice".

Yes, we need to tend to the poor among us - but we need to do it in a manner that eliminates their poverty, not by handing them a few dollars on a regular basis.

But, before you rush forth from this inspirational speech, I caution you to remember the new maxim: "Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and the NEA will sue you since you don't have a union card, you will be labeled a bigot by the NAACP, and you become an immediate enemy of the state"...

  3. I couldn't agree with you more, Emmentaler. The destruction of the black family was no accident of unintended consequences. It was by design and will someday go down in history as the vilest act of racism since the end of open slavery. Is it any wonder that the rest of America has willingly marched toward servitude these past hundred years? The progressives sing their siren song of security and all they ask in return is just a wee bit of freedom...and eternal fealty.

  5. To sum up Emmentaler comment, LBJ's "Great Society" coming home to roost.

  6. Emmentaler (and others)- You're exactly right that the unacceptable state of race relations and black underemployment in this country are deliberate creations of liberals. They're treating black Americans like veal cows, being fed and contained, unable to move or do anything until they're ready to be used...in this case, each election day.

Bill Clinton struck a responsive chord with the black community that could have translated into real racial healing and social progress...but he never even made the effort, preferring to stoke hatred through myths like "black church burnings" in order to turn misplaced hatred into political power. (Sidenote: Does everyone remember that Clinton took investigators off of Al-Qaeda so they could look for nonexistant white bigots burning churches? Does everyone remember what happened when we took our eye off Al-Qaeda?)

When Barack Obama was elected, there was clearly an unprecedented new opportunity for racial healing in this country, and that could have been a legacy that every American applauded. But instead, this president has been more racially divisive than any other, clearly preferring to stoke anger, resentment, and hatred between ethnic groups (white, black, hispanic, islamic) as a means of keeping the proletariat fractured and the electorate under control.

Liberalism is slavery. That's not metaphor - that's fact.

  7. It's interesting that the same people who claim to be champions of racial and religious tolerance are often the first to stoke discord. In the 90's, I remember the front page articles condemning whites for the burning of black churches. Clinton led the pack of accusers. Later, one by one, we learned that most (perhaps all?) of the fires were set by blacks. This information came much after the fact in tiny articles buried among trivialities. No apologies were made. A similar rush to judgment occurred when the media and academics angrily condemned the Duke lacrosse team for raping a black woman. It took team members a long time to prove their innocence. These same people continue to see racism and bigotry in every conservative, tea party supporter, and anyone opposed to building a mosque at Ground Zero. As much as it frustrates and angers me to be negatively stereotyped because of my conservatve beliefs, it is much sadder to watch how our own government destroyed the black family and enslaved future generations. The majority of blacks are unaware of how they are being lied to and misused. And the mainstream media aids and abets those who continue the mis-information. Honestly, although I opposed Obama on just about everything, I thought that this might be one area where he could speak truth to the lies about racism and personal responsibility. What a fool I was. Obama raised this whole blame game to a new level. White conservatives are not just angry folk who cling to our guns and religion. Shortly after his election, his administration added "terrorist" to our stereotype. Then there was Cambridge and cops acting stupidly and accusations that Arizona cops were eager to arrest hispanic parents taking their kids out for ice cream. What a way to bring people together.

  8. The concepts of racism and bigotry were the powder at the touch hole on the cannon of public opinion. Thankfully, they have gotten their powder rather wet through by opening their powder keg a bit too often the past several years - particularly during this administration - and it doesn't do much more than fizzle a bit, make a tiny flash, and a lot of smoke.

I hope more and more of the public continue to see past claims of racism - that could be the one positive to come from this administration.

  9. Anonymous (two above)- Bravo! I honestly can't add anything to what you've written. Great and damning stuff.

  10. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a study published some time back that traced "ebonics" not as a "genetically based" African dialect, but back to the poor English spoken by the underclass in poor British port towns?

  12. They keep the race thing alive and well to keep people focus on that and not on the real problems in Washington.
