Decorator in Chief

As the old saying goes, "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping." And so it is that Barack Obama has directed an absolutely
faaaaabulous makeover of the oval office.

When he first moved in, Obama made only
minor decorating changes, including removing a bust of Winston Churchill which England had sent to give comfort and courage to the nation following 9/11. And for whatever reason, Obama just doesn't have much interest in 9/11 knickknacks.

But this new office renovation (which was financed privately) is the real deal - new paint, new wallpaper, new furniture, and a spectacular new rug which not only displays the presidential seal, but also has inspiring quotations woven into the rim.

For instance, you'd be able to read the motto
"The Welfare of Each of Us is Dependent Fundamentally Upon the Welfare of All of Us" if you were walking around the circular rug.

Which is perfect when you think about it. After all, what could
better represent this presidency than welfare...and going in circles?

The renovation won't be quite finished until 2012.

  1. What would make this perfect is 1.2 million pounds of yellow-cake uranium piled in the corner. You know, from the WMD program that didn't exist and that crazy Bush might be re-started if we LEFT Iraq without removing Saddam. (We were maintaining no-fly zones and controlling imports and exports of anything/everything from olives to technical information all through both CLINTON administrations.)
Speaking of Clinton-- is the 2012 finish date set so the stuff will still be nice and new when he and his friends grab it all on the last day?

  2. Except for the ridiculous shin-bruising, toe-stubbing coffee table I can't find much, based on the picture, to object to. The arms on the couch aren't nap-worthy but I admit that to be a personal preference.

  3. Soft tones to offset all that red in the person occupying the Resolute desk.

  4. I suppose when President Palin takes office in January of 2013, she can redecorate to her whims. Of course, changing anything that Obama did will be called racist. Can't wait.
I hope you were joking about that motto on the rug, Stilton. That is offensive to the American spirit.

  5. Yes Hoosier, the saying "The Welfare of Each of Us is Dependent Fundamentally Upon the Welfare of All of Us" closely resembles the Official Obama Motto "Defining success so that any failure qualifies"

  6. moronpolitics- Funny you should mention the light-fingered Clintons. In the Oval Office picture above, there is a painting to the left of the desk (as we're looking at it). I was curious about what it is, and I believe it's called "5th Avenue in the Rain." It shows people with umbrellas walking on a rainy day, with American flags hanging from all the buildings. Which is a pretty ambiguous message, don't you think? BUT...the kicker to the story was that the painting was "recovered" from the Clintons after they took it with them when leaving. Nice.

Angry Hoosier Dad- Sorry, but the inscription on the rug is real and not a figment of my imagination. The rug actually has quotes from 4 Presidents and Martin Luther King Jr. The "Welfare" quote was from Theodore Roosevelt, who also famously said "Charge!" Unfortunately, Obama thinks that means "buy it today, and pay it back sometime in the future."

  7. Dr. MLK, Jr. had clarified that the quote attributed to him was not his. So why didn't Obama attribute it to the originator? Because then he couldn't have used it to siphon off some of Dr. MLK, Jr's credibility. God knows the only credibility he has is that which he can "borrow".

  8. Ah, but if only 0bama's next "office" couldn't be decorated with a stainless steel combination commode and sink, small writing desk, bunk and BARS. Plus, an added bonus! Think of all the money saved by not having the secret service having to follow him around for the rest of his life? Ah, to dream, to dream...

OK, OK, I'm a racist..... but isn't everybody nowadays?

  12. Don't forget that Barack Hussein didn't just remove the Churchill bust, he GAVE IT BACK! He could have hidden it in the White House archives, but noooooo--that wasn't insulting enough for Barry. I guess the potential comparisons between the stature of Winston Churchill and the lack of same of Barry would have hurt Barry's feelings.

I have read that Obama's scorn for Great Britain equals his scorn for Israel but for their past colonialism and repression of indigenous Africans, not on religious grounds. His insults to Great Britain are hardly veiled and he doesn't care about our historic relationship. In fact, he's doing what he can to dismantle it. As sorry as I am for the wussification and dhimmitude going on in GB these days, I believe they can rise again and hope that our special relationship can be reconstituted.

  14. Yeah, tell me again how Barack Hussein is "post-racial"......

  15. If I'm seeing the right color it all looks like a barf brown to me. It is very neat but the Feng Shui is not so keen here I think. Found this:

How is the new Oval Office from a Feng Shui perspective?

Very brown. Very heavy. Very Earth.

Everything in the center of this office looks heavy.

In Feng Shui it can be a good thing to anchor the energy, but here it looks like it would be very tough to get new ideas off the ground: there’s no lightness to it at all.

    More Here:
If President Obama does move his desk, Olmstead suggests he should also avoid placing it in a direct line with the main entrance, which would expose him to too much harsh energy of the world's problems symbolically "coming in his door" http://tinyurl.com/2fegnxg

For Barry 'gad' (thier term for God) forbid problems should come to Teh One's door!
