The Summer of Our Discontent
Despite Vice-President Joe Biden's tireless speechifying to promote our country's glorious economic "Recovery Summer," new numbers indicate that the economy is actually going from bad to worse.
In fact, there's almost no indication that the huge stimulus package the Democrats pushed through had any positive impact at all, in part because job creation through taxation is an economic impossibility, as well as the fact that the taxpayer-funded stimulus programs were riddled with typical government fraud and ineptitude.
At this point, economic experts seem to be putting most of their efforts into semantics, trying to decide whether this is a "slow recovery," an "inverse recovery," a period of "negative growth," a "double dip recession," a "depression,"or simply an extended period of Hope and Change.

Sleazy As ABC
A deeply worried nation was finally able to release a collective sigh of relief when ABC announced as "breaking news" that the president is enjoying his vacation.
Oh sure, they could have reported on the increasingly troubling economic news, the collapse of the so-called "recovery summer," or the exploding violence of Mexican drug cartels near America's unguarded southern border...but all of those stories are covered endlessly on Fox News, and ABC was eager to finally get an exclusive story.
And as if that weren't bad enough, ABC News has now been caught using an aggressive actor to try to cause a confrontation with an anti-Ground Zero mosque protestor. So not only are they reporting non-news, they're actually trying to fake news stories to promote their liberal agenda.
Here at Hope n' Change, we think this is why the mainstream media is no longer even remotely relevant or trustworthy as a meaningful news source.
We'll give you further bulletins as warranted.

The Bill With No Birth Certificate
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, who has frequently been credited as the "author" of the sweeping Obamacare health bill, now admits that even he did not read the entire bill before it was voted into law by the Democrats.
"I don't think you want me to waste my time to read every page of the healthcare bill," said Baucus, claiming that most of the bill contained "statutory language" (ie, new laws) which had been inserted by nameless "experts."
And in the immoral words of Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats "had to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it." And so they could find out what's in it. Just like college students who are losing access to low cost health insurance are finding out what's in it. Just like senior citizens who are losing their Medicare Advantage plans are finding out what's in it. Just like working people across the country who are losing their company-sponsored healthcare plans are finding out what's in it.
But oddly, there is one group that clearly benefits from the "out of this world" costs of Obamacare: aliens.
Coincidence? We think not.

CBS Evening Noose
According to Katie Couric on the rarely-watched CBS Evening News, "there is a debate to be had about the sensitivity of building (the Cordoba House mosque) so close to Ground Zero." And we agree.
Unfortunately, she kept talking - saying "But we can not let fear and rage tear down the towers of our core American values."
Did she really just refer to "sensitivity," and in the very next sentence equate those who are concerned about a mosque at Ground Zero with the radical Islamic terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center towers and killed over 3000 Americans?!
It's hard to imagine a more insulting or dismissive comment. Or really, a more inaccurate statement - after all, most of the opposition to the Ground Zero mosque is not based on fear or rage, but rather on the sincere belief that this is hallowed ground and a place of deep and lasting pain for many Americans.
And that for once, just once, our sensitivities should be respected.

Wiretapped Phonecall: Pot Calls Kettle
In order to help translate wiretapped phonecalls related to narcotics investigations, the Department of Justice is trying to hire linguists "fluent in Ebonics."
Ebonics is a nonstandard variant of English which includes features "like the omission of the final consonant in words like ‘past’ (pas’ ) and ‘hand’ (han’), the pronunciation of the th in ‘bath’ as t (bat) or f (baf), and the pronunciation of the vowel in words like ‘my’ and ‘ride’ as a long ah (mah, rahd).”
Ebonics first rose to national attention in 1996 when liberals (let us repeat, to be absolutely clear: LIBERALS) with the Oakland, California schoolboard declared Ebonics to be a special language which is genetically based" in African Americans. Ouch.
But that was then, and this is now...and the need for Ebonics translators is urgent. Senate majority leader Harry Reid has previously praised Barack Hussein Obama's linguistic skills, noting that he spoke with "no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one."
But sadly, the president is too busy building bridges with the Muslim world to waste his time building bridges between the worlds of Ebonics and English.
Frankly, Hope n' Change doesn't know anything about Ebonics.
But Steve Harvey is calling for an "English/Ebonics" dictionary.

Bomb Mot
Barack Hussein Obama's controversial "big hugs and no preconditions" policy towards Iran finally paid off this week, as a chastened and repentant Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fired up his showroom-fresh nuclear reactor, then announced a new tool of Iranian diplomacy - a long-range bomber.
In a nationally televised speech, Ahmadinejad said that the bomber's main message is "peace and friendship," and that along with a payload of four stealth cruise missiles and two 250-pound bombs, it is the "messenger of salvation and dignity for humanity."
All of which begs the critical question: is it more important to evaluate a threat based on what something actually is, or simply on what it claims to be?
Telling the critical difference would, we suppose, be a matter of wisdom. But Barack Obama has already gone on record that matters of wisdom are of no interest to him.

Heroes Coming Home
This week, the last U.S. combat forces left Iraq, having completed their mission more successfully than almost anyone could have imagined.
Our men and women in uniform have had to face incredible challenges, coming not only from our nation's enemies, but also from the mainstream media and those in Washington who put politics before patriotism.
But that's talk for another time. Today, Hope n' Change wants to send our utmost and sincerest thanks to the returning troops, and pledge our continuing support for all of the troops still stationed overseas (including many in support roles in Iraq) who risk so much for all of us.
Welcome home, heroes.
