In these days of Hope n' Change, terrorism is an "overseas contingency," and Homeland Security is tasked with keeping an eye on American citizens who disagree with the President. For those of you keeping score, file this under "Change" rather than "Hope."

This particular news item this week has sobered me more than anything thus far...other than maybe the reaction to the tea parties, which kinda really goes along with this. Its scary that no matter what anyone said before the election about how bad Obama was going to be, that nobody exaggerated. As a matter of fact, I think we grossly underestimated.

There has never been a challenge to our freedoms quite like this before. The President of the United States is attacking news analysts like Rush Limbaugh by name...radio stations are threatened by a new "fairness doctrine" to silence conservative talk shows...a Democrat has floated a proposal to "save newspapers" by allowing them to operate tax free, as long as they don't editorialize on politics...and now, a government agency is stepping up surveillance on (and intimidation of) anyone who dares to speak out.

As the liberals liked to say after 9/11, "why didn't anyone connect the dots until it was too late?"
