Holy Unacceptable

Click Cartoon for Larger Size
In these strange days of "Hope n' Change," there are no acts of terror...simply "man caused disasters." And so it is that Obama's top counterterror adviser, John Brennan, is now giving Americans a lesson in grammatical etiquette to avoid giving terrorists "man caused hurt feelings."

In a recent speech, Brennan declared that America's enemies are neither "terrorism" nor "terror," and that the (ahem) violent extremists who occasionally do things like blow the living hell out of the World Trade Center are actually the victims... "of political, economic, and social forces."

But not religious forces or dogma. NooOOoooo.

Because, gosh darn it, there's nothing wrong with "jihad" and nothing wrong with "jihadists" - because jihad is "a legitimate tenet of Islam" and is, Allah be praised, "a holy struggle."

So remember when it comes to radical Islamic terrorists, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Just like the Obama administration.

Obama should remember that "If you can't say something nice...." thing when it comes to Arizona and their brave governor...Policemen who defend themselves....Radio talk show hosts that speak the truth....and more.

Who would have been able to predict in the days following 9/11 that America would be allowing mosques to be built all over the attack site and banning anything that could even remotely hurt the delicate feelings of a muslim, and heaven forbid a muslim extremist.....

The postmodernists in this administration talk endlessly and speak utter nonsense to those of us hopelessly mired in traditional modern reasoning. They allow, and in fact intend, words to mean whatever it is convenient for them to mean at the moment that they speak the words.

Thus this idiot statement about the "legitimacy" of jihad is considered perfectly reasonable to the postmodernist because in his mind those words had entirely different meanings than what you and I understand them to be. I cannot begin to tell you what he thinks they mean because I cannot, and do not want to, think like that; it is a serious mental illness I would not want to contract. But my point is simply that we should look at these people in the same light as we look at the criminally insane; they are one and the same.

This administration sure can "jive-talk" anything to death.

Peggy Noonan put up a pretty good column today:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704269204575270950789108846.html

"He Was Supposed to Be Competent
......................................
The president, in my view, continues to govern in a way that suggests he is chronically detached from the central and immediate concerns of his countrymen. This is a terrible thing to see in a political figure, and a startling thing in one who won so handily and shrewdly in 2008. But he has not, almost from the day he was inaugurated, been in sync with the center. The heart of the country is thinking each day about A, B and C, and he is thinking about X, Y and Z. They're in one reality, he's in another."

I think that last line reflects how a lot of us feel - like we are in some kind of politcal Bizarro world.

There is a lot more to the column, but I would also like to include this, because I mentioned the James Carville thing in the Wednesday post.

"What continues to fascinate me is Mr. Obama's standing with Democrats. They don't love him. Half the party voted for Hillary Clinton, and her people have never fully reconciled themselves to him. But he is what they have. They are invested in him. In time—after the 2010 elections go badly—they are going to start to peel off. The political operative James Carville, the most vocal and influential of the president's Gulf critics, signaled to Democrats this week that they can start to peel off. He did it through the passion of his denunciations."

Sounds like maybe Obama is being thrown under the bus.

Where was Noonan when intelligent people were shouting from the rooftops "Obama has never run anything his entire life!!!" Oh yes, now I remember, she was one of his cheerleaders.

I agree with OldMan. Peggy was drinking the koolaid early on and it has hurt her credibility with me. Anyone with an I.Q. over 100 who seriously listened to Obama's elegant pre-election speeches and then tried to summarize them, would have to admit he had the substance of cotton candy. (When he wasn't privately condemning those who cling to their guns and religion.) Media folk just LOVED all the pretty words he used and the fact that he could speak in compound sentences. His wife would also make a great first lady because she had (gasp) good arms. I'm surprised they didn't fawn over her child-bearing hips. Hillary wasn't so lucky. (Not that I care.)

Readers- Before diving into anything else, let me just say what great, intelligent, and thought-provoking comments you've been posting lately. That means a lot to me, and I thank you for it!

Dr.D- you're right that words have ceased to have real, objective meaning in this administration. And when words mean nothing, then the actions we can observe mean everything.

Alan, Old Man, & Anon- Peggy Noonan is a fine writer, but she indeed screwed the pooch in her early support of Obama. While we hate to throw around the "R-word," it seems that Peggy fell victim to an odd form of racism (specifically, the kind known as "white guilt") by ignoring the substantive issues of Obama's questionable character, his radical associates, his socialistic politics, and his complete lack of qualifications.

It was not (and is not) racist to notice these problems...but might well have been ass-backwardly racist to overlook them.

But Peggy is coming around. We hope others do, too.

History has shown that when a hostile force takes over a country, the "Useful Idiots" are usually the first ones on the chopping block. They have no further use, and are just a dangerous liability when they start to realize their mistake.
