Beaches?! We Don't Need No Stinking Beaches!

Saturday marked the 71st anniversary of the historic D-Day invasion...which you'd think would make a pretty darn good topic for Barack Obama's weakly address (and no, that's not a typo). But instead, the president decided to harangue Americans  about June being "Immigrant Heritage Month." Although to be fair, we're sure he'll give equal time to "National Border Security Month" whenever it gets here.

For those with short memories or recent public educations, back in 1944 France had a pretty serious problem with people trampling their borders, speaking a foreign language, and forcing the locals to change their politics, taxes, and culture to accommodate the newly arrived "dreamers" (so-called because they shared Adolph Hitler's "Dreams From My Fatherland"). And believe it or not, back then the United States was against that sort of thing!

But not today. Barack Obama declared that America is actually made stronger by people who trample our borders, speak a foreign language, and are forcing us to change our politics, taxes, and culture.

And according to the president, we can't just celebrate the rich heritage of illegal immigration, "we have to defend it." Specifically, he mentioned defending it from the evil sieg-heiling Republicans whom he seems to imagine are in cliff-top bunkers mercilessly spraying down machine gun fire at the dreamers bravely storming the bloodsoaked beaches of the Rio Grande.

And just to reinforce his not-so-subtle suggestion that Americans lack any moral authority to regulate immigration, he again spoke of Michelle and his daughters, "some of whose ancestors came here in chains." A thought so sad that it makes Hope n' Change want to send the ladies a reparation check if we can just get an address for one of the five-star luxury hotels they'll be staying in during their European vacation next week.

Barack Obama's choice of the anniversary of D-Day to denigrate Americans and praise our nation's invaders is almost the supreme irony. And we say "almost" only because he managed to top it only 24 hours later.

Because that's when he flew overseas to enjoy beer and sausages with the Germans.

Update: In the commentary above, we unintentionally made it sound like D-Day was an exclusively American operation. As we mark this 71st anniversary, let us also remember the many brave Brits, New Zealanders, Australians, Canadians and Poles who fought and died in Operation Overlord.

I guess that we are being na├»ve by expecting Obama to do things that most would accept as being patriotic. On the other hand, I’m glad he didn’t get up and start carrying on about the quote from General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s D-Day Message.

“Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.

I would seriously like to know which countries, other than the obvious countries that want to denigrate the United States, are coming from to seek residency and citizenship in this country. I hardly believe countries like England, France, Germany and Canada have an exodus of residents to rush to the shores of this country. Our country used to welcome in those who wanted to make a better life for themselves, and to enter legally, going through the legal procedures to become residents, and some on to become citizens. Many fought alongside our soldiers in wars to defend our freedoms. We need to wake up the political machine that is Washington and get these folks to realize they are working for us, not at their leisure. I pray that things change in a big way after the next election.

Actually @Sandy Link, there are many citizens from countries like England, France, Germany and Canada who wish to come here. Many of those people come here for the same reason that previous generations did; social, political and economic freedom. Many also come to escape the high taxes that most of those countries impose upon "the rich" to fund socialism.

For example, I always found it ironic, hypocritical and disgusting the numerous European entertainment industry types who'd come here to escape 50% to +90% tax rates, only to then bitch about how "unjust" America was because it wasn't more like the socialist countries they were fleeing, but unwilling to pay for. They definitely should have been sent home.

Look at the head on that thing, the beer's head is a little weak too.
Hard to believe the white side of his family fought in that war, and his actions and words denigrate them ever chance he gets. They only become his family when it is a convient prop he needs. And while there may be questions of who his father is even he can't lie his way out of his mom's brave family members.
So once again when given the choice to commemorate brave men black, white or something else, like in own family or be the asshole barack he chooses to be barack.

Busty clearly has an intellect head and shoulders (wink) above that of the so-called smartest man in the room. 10:1 our brain dead ruler doesn't even know what country Vichy is in, or what it's historical context is.

Regarding the wurst president, ever (good one Stilt) and his trip to Germany. Let's hope that the press is as vigilant as they were in 1985, just in case that brew he's sipping happens to be Bitburger.

The president guzzling beer in the morning while his so-called wife and supposed daughters plan yet another lavish vacation on our dime. The European vacation will also include the First Ladyboy's mother because why shouldn't we pay through the nose for yet another unelected freeloader?

Your wit and commentary are greatly appreciated and almost always lift my spirits and re-ignite that small internal flame that O'Liar is so keen to snuff out. I do however have a complaint regarding the Busty Ross cartoon. I don't care for your balloon placement. Why do your balloons obscure her balloons? Just joking....

Hey, hey, be nice. I am sure her family has been added as staff members to her entourage. Maybe even some sort of unelected czars due salary, tdy, travel pay, perdiem and other expenses and if they do good (ok any) job they will get bonuses.

Don't forget that those people in Europe who would like to come to this country are out of luck because the socialists in charge of immigration policy have severely restricted the quota of Europeans in favor of unrestricted allowance for people from south of our border and other places. Can't let those (incidentally white) folks get away from the iron grip of socialism in Europe, ya know.

@JosephET- I just tried to imagine Obama saying anything remotely that inspiring and couldn't. To paraphrase Eisenhower, "much has happened since the Progressive triumphs of 2008."

@Sandy Link- I am 100% in favor of immigration and immigrant. I am 100% opposed to illegal immigration. This country is not made stronger by people who show up without skills or education, and possibly with exotic illnesses or frightening criminal records. By all means, it's appropriate to celebrate "Immigrant Heritage Month," but let's don't confuse our pride with a reason to abandon the rule of law.

@John the Econ- I think I read that only about 11% of our immigrants are now from traditionally western European countries. Perhaps that number would be higher if they could just walk over our borders without that pesky Atlantic Ocean getting in their way.

@pdwalker- Thank you. It's frequently challenging to distill complex issues down enough to fit them into a three panel cartoon and include a punchline. I have a lot more space in the commentary section, which is a good thing - those little word balloons are merciless.

@REM1875- You nail it when you say Barry uses his family members as props. On his mother's side, he claims his uncle helped liberate Auschwitz (oops, it was actually Buchenwald, but this was too insignificant a detail for Barry to remember). And when he needed to cite the racism of a "typical white person," he actually threw his white grandmother under the bus - and she's the woman who raised him.

@TrickyRicky- I didn't know how many people would get the Vichy reference, but decided to keep it because people SHOULD, by God, know about Vichy or look it up. A quick summary: when the Nazis occupied France, a new government seat was formed in Vichy, France in which the French were allowed to run things in collaboration with their invaders. And that's what I see in the Obama administration: a government which is allowing invaders and running things for their benefit.

@Geoff King- I sometimes wonder; would Michelle's ancestors have "come here in chains" willingly if they could see the unfathomable wealth and luxury their descendants would be living in?

@CenTexTim- If I had as many lies to keep track of as Barry does, I wouldn't drink real alcohol either.

@Chish McFicken- I think his family came from the Black Forest.

@Juanita the Icon- Oh, he is a foreign invader to be sure. Whatever his lineage, all traditional American values are foreign to him.

@Hungry Joe- I wasn't trying to leave anyone out. It was called a "World War" for good reason, with stories of heroism and sacrifice attributable to many nations.

@Colby Muenster- You make a good point; when Busty has things to get off her chest, you can't see her chest at all. But hang in there - sooner or later she's bound to have an introspective moment without a word balloon.

@REM1875- The vacation is being labeled as a business trip, with Michelle speaking to groups about the education of girls, or doing push-ups, or eating vegetables, or whatever the hell else will allow her to write the trip off. I'm sure the first daughters will also be classified as "working" on the trip. Our tax dollars at work.

@JustaJeepGuy- Right you are. I think the "browning of America" is a very deliberate choice and goal of this administration and the Left in general.

The willingness to accept responsibility for his decisions whether they turn out to be the right ones or not. This is the mark of a true leader. A true leader takes the blame when things go wrong and gives credit to others when things go right.

Yesterday, Obama blamed the Pentagon and Iraq for not having a complete plan on handling the ISIS problem. Then he says he will make the plan public when it’s complete.

I guess that General Eisenhower should have made our D-Day plans public too.
Seems this administration wants everything a secret except the things they should. Example: Trade Deals vs. Battle plans.

Putin continues to reinstate the Soviet Union. China continues to claim more of the Pacific. Iran continues with their nuclear program. ISIS continues to consume the Middle East. Boko Haram continues to absorb Africa.

And yet what do the leaders at the G7 summit fret about? "Climate change" and the crisis of not enough women entrepreneurs.

Clearly, they don't understand that there will be little need for, much less tolerance of "women entrepreneurs" outside of the burka fitting industry once is Islamic takeover is complete. And nobody will be fretting much about "climate change" once Iran starts launching nukes.
