Stand Up Tragedy

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, correspondents dinner, 2016, roast, comedy, niggah
"Don't try the veal. It's from Planned Parenthood."
In a shocking oversight, Hope n' Change wasn't invited to Barack Obama's final White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday - an annual black tie affair (even if your tie had a white mother) in which members of the news media, Hollywood celebrities, and politicians gather to make scathing remarks about what hateful, self-involved, peon-hating jackasses everyone else in the room is...while pretending that they're joking.

The level of decorum at the event can pretty much be summed up by comedian Larry Wilmore's reference to the president as a "niggah," which is being gleefully reported by the media as a term of praise and endearment. So perhaps we'll have to try using it in the future to show that, despite our ideological differences, we're still Mr. Obama's homeboys. After all, like Barry we're half-white. Granted, our other half is white, too.

Obama scored plenty of laughs with the best jokes that your tax money can buy, although he perhaps crossed a line when he said of Hillary's "Woman Card" that it's "the ace in her hole." Okay, he didn't actually say that, but we'd have happily given him the joke for free.

Preferably as a going away gift.

So many talking heads claiming Obama has great comic timing and delivery. BS, a Jay Leno he’ll never be! And what’s the deal about purposely dropping the expensive microphone? Some kind of protest?

Your cartoon nailed it again! Thanks!

"Dropping the microphone"?? It's what niggahs do...

Hilarious, Stilt!

obama has dropped absolutely everything that a Commander-in-Chief is supposed to do. I cannot comment on his sense of humor because I can't afford to keep buying television sets every time his face comes on my TV. Besides, my DVR went down (no comment) last week and we have had no TV to watch since. Hopefully the new DVR will be here today. At least I had a opportunity to visit my wife. She's a really nice lady.

Glad to say I missed that event in it's entirety. I don't know how those who follow this stuff do it. When the TV is on, I'm thankful for the remote controller because media skunks are fast. In fact I had to change the channel just now. Is there a NEWS station on now, anywhere?

NPR radio funding campaigns were recently in season, so I also made the call to remind them how much I like SOME of their programming but I won't give them money. Why? Because of constant stream of liberalism & snarky attacks on conservatives they broadcast as news and produce into much of their programming by every means possible. Sorry folks but that BS kills the kitty. It was good to learn they are hearing more of this. I think it's important to remind them.

Since his entire term in office has been a collosal joke, I am sure that I missed nothing from his stand up routine which I refused to watch for economic reasons (I had recently eaten and did not wish to waste money by vomitting everything back up).
I am sorry I did not get to hear him say what I have been waiting for all these years: Ă˜bama out!

Joseph ET said lamont will never be Jay Leno. Well, if "niggah" is now an acceptable euphemism, then maybe lamont CAN be the comedian "Jay Gaboo"! After all, lamont is as funny as being mauled by deer, (a hart attack), funny as Turd Kennedy being your daughters chauffeur, Ted Bundy being your wife's personal assistant, or a Stephan Hawking Stand-up Comedy routine.

One of the top three trending facebook stories right now is that Michelle wore a gold Givenchy gown to this dinner. I can't possibly care less, and anyway, everyone knows that Belle wore it better.

Oh, precious Daughter.
I laughed out loud.
I came within a breath of spritzing coffee.
Trees, apples, etc.
Excellent.

What an unfunny event. Ultra-political correctness and the hyper-partisan nature of Washington these days have long since killed funny as it seems to do the same to free speech in general. You'd think that they'd have to subpoena people to sit through this. The few snippets I saw on the evening news made me want to switch to Gilligan's Island for something deeper.

But hey, anything that diverts attention from the mediocre 0.5% growth of Q1, Puerto Rico going bankrupt, the fact that most Americans are making less than they were 8 years ago, Iraq falling apart, and that the best his party has to follow up on him is a racketeer and a socialist.

Funny stuff.

With acting appearances apparently making for "good TV" I see Michelle Nobama is going to be on my favorite show (well, it used to be), NCIS. Crap, why ruin a class act by putting on the most classless act in the country? Why? Why? Why? Now they are stinking up the TV lineup. God help us.

Damn, you're hotter than a two dollar pistol! GREAT!! Keep putting the coals on the libtards,

I didn't watch the correspondent's dinner. I've been assaulted by 7+ years of this comedy show called the Obama administration and don't need to see the blooper reel.

@Joseph ET- In fairness to Barry, his comic delivery isn't terrible - just pretty bad. Also, as a guy who's worked in audio for a long time, it WAS painful to see the mic drop. Still, if the taxpayers have to pay the price for his joke, it certainly won't be the first time.

@rickn80r- I'd normally frown on that word, but now that we're being encourage to use it...

@drjim- Thanks! We'll be here all week!

@Fred Ciampi- You aren't missing a thing, I assure you.

@Rod- Unlike Barry's godawful State of the Union speeches, I actually find it interesting to analyse the jokes his writers have prepared (and that he's presumably chosen) as additional insight into his mind set. It isn't pretty.

As far as NPR goes, I fail to see why any media outlet needs governmental funding these days.

@Geoff King- I won't give him credit for the line "Obama out" until he gets the hell out of our White House.

@Bruce Bleu- No way am I going to try to top your list of comedian jokes!

@DaughterJarlsberg- Coincidentally, her husband's especially good at expectorating.

@One Scared American- Even when he's joking around, he's scary. You just know that he's utterly insincere and presenting a contrived appearance to wield control over others. Even sociopaths can fake charm when it suits their purpose.

@Sortawitte- Most people assume that my family tree has less to do with apples than nuts.

@John the Econ- I'd be a hypocrite to condemn the use of humor, but there's something about this whole event that is mean and sneering. These tuxedoed jackasses drink and bray while our country is in real trouble. It's appalling.

@Sandy Link- Let's don't leap to conclusions. Maybe she'll turn out to be the villain on NCIS when a series of people die from eating school lunches.

@Walter1694cir- A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I used to do some standup comedy (and wrote comedy for a radio syndication service long after that). Writing today's routine for Barry was pure pleasure for me.

@NVRick- As usual, the joke is on us.

OMG, I just saw the WH correspondent's dinner pics of moochelle. She/he seems to have put on some pounds. Hideous. And is she/he really going to be on NCIS? That used to be one of my favorite shows 'til Ziva left. Now I hardly ever watch it and don't think I could stand the concept of our FLOTUS pretending to act.

All I have to say is, "Obama keep your day job." Er, wait for
a minute on second thought go apply for unemployment.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Judi King- I couldn't really tell if she'd put on weight or not. All I know is it took thousands of taxpayer dollars to prep her look for the event.

@Robert Tatro- To be completely fair, Obama did an acceptable job on reciting the scripted jokes, but his attempt to be "sincere" and praise the media for their tough search for truth during his administration raised my blood pressure to dangerous levels.

The really amazing part of the affair was alleged-comedian Larry Wilmore's nightmarishly bad routine. I'm not sure I've ever seen a comedian die a harder death as his "jokes" fell like trees in a forest nobody's in. Moreover, 90% of his material was about being black, black, black, blackety-black...and no one gave a crap. Seriously, it was a jaw-droppingly unfunny display of liberal anti-white racism and bitterness. In many ways, it was the perfect metaphor for Obama's two terms: all about being black, and in every measure a failure.
