Hard of Hearing

Following Tuesday's massive electoral rejection of Barack Obama's policies, the alleged president conducted a news conference to acknowledge that the voters had spoken...but, well, he isn't actually listening.

To hear him tell it, the big message voters were sending was "you need to move your agenda ahead faster." Ummm, no.

Obama conceded that some people may have felt that he didn't do enough to enact his promise to "change how things are done in Washington" because, in his rush to enact Obamacare, he didn't change how things were done. And although he promised to eliminate earmarks, he admits that he signed lots of bills with huge earmarks because he "had to."

In other words, judging him on his deeds instead of his words gives people the wrong impression.

For instance, the president says that he's going to crack down on spending and deficits, and is going to discuss it with newly-empowered Republicans in a meaningful way "in a few weeks"... after he returns from his $200 million a day "Avoid The American Press" overseas tour which is starting immediately.

In other words, Mr. Hope and Change has no intention of changing just because of the hopes, and votes, of millions of frustrated Americans.

These people just don't get it.

Every sane person in this Administration needs to evacuate. The White House is a George Romero movie.

If we could take it from his hide, it might almost be worth it.

"Pelosi says election not a rejection of agenda, Obama will be two-term president"

Only if the economy improves and the media can trick people into thinking Obama has something to do with it, AND the GOP nominates some RINOtastic jackass like McCain again. I'm hoping someone like Gov. Piyush "Bobby" Jindal gets nominated.

I'm still mad that they gave Bush such a hard time for going to his own ranch during his Presidency, but they overlook the millions and millions of dollars Obama and his wife spend on their own pleasure....

No offense, but Jindal doesn't have a chance - as a hardcore ID fan, he'd totally P-Off a LARGE part of the electorate.

Not entirely sure how he hangs on to his governorship as well as he does - then again, that hardcore creationist crap plays better in the Deep South..

As Rush said, Jug-ears (my term, not his) is upset that the Republicans didn't take the Senate as well. Now he has to find something or someone else to run against in 2012. Of course, he can run against Congress and throw the Democrat Senate under the bus. Hell, if he can throw his own grandmother under there you know there's room for Senate Democrats.
The race for the White House began yesterday...don't tell Mitt Romney though.

Again, when this President speaks like this, he's not talking to us. (He knows we all know better) He's talking to his weak and frightened followers. He knows there's no significant economic turn-around happening for at least the next 2 years, so he's gotta keep those people insecure, scared and dependent by extrapolating the alleged horrors of a conservative run state.

In the mean time, he will use his executive powers to continue his work at dismantling what is left of our freedom. Remember, although they no longer control the House and the Senate can now be filibustered, the left still has the courts and media on their side. It's not over by a long shot.

John the Econ- In terms of policy, we expect the new battlefield to be administrative orders, czars, and other chicanery. Can't pass "cap and tax?" Fine - then give broad new powers to the EPA to get the same result without having to answer to anyone. The goals of this administration haven't changed, nor has their intent to get things done: only the methodologies will be changing. As you say, it's not over by a long shot.

Sad but true.

Ah yes, the coveted "moderates" who rallied to McCain to stand against the socialist ideologue Obama. Whoops!

It's a step in the right direction definitely...was not surprised with Obama's tone at the press conference...fake contrition, still believing what he did was right...but I like what Mitch McConnell said...that when Democratic ideas serve the people, we're with him, but when they don't we're not!

“Let’s understand the message,” Pelosi told ABC’s Diane Sawyer. “The message was not, ‘I reject the course that you are on.’ The message is it didn’t go fast enough to produce jobs.”

A) If HRH Pelosi really believes this shit, she IS from another planet. I guess she just didn't notice the millions of us poor slobs out here who have been trying for 2 years to slam on the brakes.

You know that whole "San Andreas Fault, California sliding into the ocean thing?" Would it really be so bad?

I know that wasn't very nice. I have good conservative friends in CA. Fortunately, they have all built small arks.

Dang.... I forgot B)!

B) If Nan doen't believe what she said (and I expect she doesn't), she STILL thinks we are all dumber than a bag of hammers.

I'm beginning to wonder if Pelosi isn't just moonbat Kucinich in a wig.

When will Pelosi just die? I mean, they can iron out your face, but not your liver, heart and brain. Things wear out. Now that she is no longer speaker mayabe she will lose her will to live. Please? I mean just going around feeding all the flying monkeys and waiting for a house to fall on you or some pubescent girl to melt you with a bucket of water has to be depressing.

Republicans... Pass a law taking CO2 OUT of the pervue of the EPA. Make it clear that just eliminating the agency is possible by getting rid of the education department RIGHT NOW. Sure, Obama won't sign it, but make him veto it. Keep it out there in front of people.

Can you please link the picture this cartoon was based on? It seems obvious the nose and lips have been enlarged in a racist manner.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

Anonymous (directly above)- No, the nose and lips haven't been enlarged in a racist manner, but you're obviously perceiving them in a racist manner because you hate the way black people look. No wonder you prefer to remain anonymous!

But just for your reference, here's a picture taken from the same session as the one we used. You'll see that we haven't exaggerated any features.

Note that our image has been flipped left-to-right, and the process of converting the image to pure black and white (like every other image used on this site) can affect the look of the final product.

But we would not enlarge any of the alleged president's features in a "racist manner" because we don't frankly give a hoot in Hell about his race. It is his policies (and in at least one case that springs to mind, his supporters) that we find detestable.
