Happy Thanksgiving 2012

thanksgiving, hope and change, obama, dog, indians, stilton jarlsberg

As long as we're already gritting our teeth, let's put them to good use today enjoying turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, steaming vegetables, pumpkin pie and all the rest of Thanksgiving's goodies!

We still have more to be thankful for than anyone else on Earth. Here's hoping that you, your families, and friends have a wonderful holiday!    -Stilton

What sort of whine goes best with Dog? Bet jay carney knows but I doubt he would tell.
Best wishes to all for this Thanksgiving. I know there are so many blessings in my life that I am grateful for, one is that the beautiful and charming Mrs Rem1875 and I will be eating pizza for dinner while the doggies keep the real wild turkeys out of the yard and I am looking forward to it.

Got up at 05:30 and put in the 22 lb. Butterball to slow roast. I figure since this could very well be the last Thanksgiving we see as a relatively free country I might as well pull out all the stops. Angelina Jolie & Barry 0 can flee the country this year because "the thought of celebrating the subjugation of an indigenous people grosses them out".

At the Necron99 household, we will remember that despite what ignorant libtards & socialist agitprops want us to believe, Thanksgiving is not a white supremacist holiday glorifying the rape of native culture, but rather the true reason for Thanksgiving being how in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens".

It is my wish that however, that as we all celebrate today, may we say a prayer for the quick and decisive restoration of our Republic.

Here's a family-friendly Thanksgiving joke for Anonymous who called Stilton a "potty mouth" the other day.

Why do pilgrims' pants keep falling down?

Because they wear their belt buckles on their hats.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Today, and every day, I am thankful for my friends here at Hope N' Change Cartoons! Stilton, you're the best! Thanks for helping me maintain my sanity during a most insane past four years. Blessings to all of you who read and contribute to the entertaining and thought provoking discussions!

I remember one year, must have been about 13, the grandparents were in CA visiting my uncle. Mom was getting fussed, and grupmed that she just wasn't in the mood to do the whole turkey dinner thing. I piped up - "so don't! we could just have pizza or something." So, Thanksgiving dinner was pizza, in the dining room, on the china (SOME traditions are SACRED, after all!) and we were ALL thankful the grands were away, for a change.
Good times!

Blessings and best wishes to all, especially the poor sods who have to work today.
Remember - the only thing worse than having a job that sucks is not having a job at all.

@REM1875- Hey, there's nothing wrong with pizza on Thanksgiving! I don't actually know what we'll be eating today because the "official" Jarlsberg family Thanksgiving is taking place tomorrow. Although I'm definitely giving thanks for a lot of things today and the many friendships here are high on that list!

@Necron99- I refuse to believe this will be the last good Thanksgiving (except for countless turkeys, who were pretty much in a no-win situation). I think that many prayers of the type you describe are going to be offered today - and every day. And perhaps the answer to those prayers will simply be continuing resolve for each of us to do our part toward restoring the Republic.

@Earl- I love that joke. Reminds me of the similarly silly joke: "Where did General Grant keep his armies? In his sleevies."

@SusieBee- Thank you! And I agree about the sanity-preserving qualities of the many contributors here!

@Pete(Detroit)- It's not about the entree, it's about the family, the friendships, and the sincere expression of gratitude.

And, of course, pumpkin pie with Cool Whip.

I'm sooo thankful to have stumbled across this site! I mean, one look at the blogger name and you knew that the site would be cultured and turn out to be edam gouda place to hang out. The wit and wisdom of the site's Big Cheese,uh Author, and those who build the discussions, make this my first read of the day and a point of departure to other information at intervals throughout the day as I check in to see how the 'conversation' is evolving. A very Happy Thanks-giving Day to you all!
And now a toast.....”Melba”!
Cheers folks! :)

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize.
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Sounds like many here have had a great Thanksgiving Day. I had a good one as well, and in case there was something posted I just clicked on my desktop icon and found that SJ had done something to make me smile and help me to again count my blessings. Our Thanksgiving Day prayer today did implore God to bless this great nation. We can do it, we can restore what is right. God will be on our side. It will take loads of work, but hey, freedom is worth it, right? Happy Thanksgiving!

Late to the game ... I didn't even turn on my computer yesterday. Much you my family's delight, I did not discuss politics at all yesterday, even though there was ample opportunity. We focused on the good, on family, on love, and on just being together.

Hope you all had a great day too!

@REM1875,
the best whine to serve with dog is Chateau Neuf de Pup.

Too funny. Sometimes you just have to be silly. I had a great Thanksgiving and I trust you and your readers did too.

@DonSurber- Good hearing from you, as always! And yes, "silly" is sometimes just what is needed.
