Full Moon and Empty Head

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, trump, supermoon, Greece

Okay, it's not subtle - but every time we've heard about the "supermoon" recently, we imagined that it was what Donald Trump and the American voters just gave Obama, the Democrats, and the mainstream media.

Not that the jug-eared Lame Duck in Chief is admitting it. Rather, while in Greece, he took yet another opportunity to distance himself from the election results and, of course, to disparage our nation while overseas.

"People seem to think I did a pretty good job," he told the Greeks, no doubt referring to the fairy people from the Land of Unicorn who frolic and gambol in his mind.  Because actual American voters were pretty unhappy about losing their doctors, having their healthcare premiums skyrocket, living with a stagnant economy for eight years,  having their religious faith and culture attacked, and only being able to find jobs in fast food restaurants which the president's wife said shouldn't be patronized.

Obama then told the international audience that America's Presidential election had been determined by "anger and fear," and "we are going to have to guard against a rise in a crude sort of nationalism or ethnic identity or tribalism that is built around an us and a them."

In other words, Obama is wrapping up his presidency the same way he started it: by telling the world that Americans are, by and large, ignorant assholes who shouldn't be trusted.

If that doesn't make him worthy of being on the receiving end of a supermoon (or in this case, millions of them) we don't know what would.

On the first episode of Saturday Night Live following Trump's election, the show kicked off with a combined tribute to the recently deceased singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen and the politically-dead Hillary Clinton.

With great solemnity, SNL's "Hillary" character played the piano and sang Cohen's achingly beautiful song "Hallelujah," carefully selecting only those verses which would make Hillary seem like a noble victim. Which inspired us to come up with some more appropriate lyrics...

An as of last week investigative journalism was reborn and brought back for the dead.
Still a little shaky though- while we can expect them to investigate everything up to bathroom breaks by republicans in or near the the White House- it appears crime. riots and major corruption by demonRats is still too much for them.
But it is a start cause I want our side squeaky clean too.

REM1875 said...

Opps from the dead- not for the dead. They have gone back to rest till the DemonRats need them for the next election.

And the first bit of investigative journalism is Trump asks for Top Secret clearance for his family. The family that will be heavily involved in dealing with all sorts of stuff during the transition and the presidential term.

And only the left consider this... weird and sinister.

The rest of the nation is going, "Well, duh, that's how it's supposed to be done."

Ahhhh, and I'm still basking in the glow of success and looking forward to the changing of the guard. And then? Hopefully, success for our nation.

I think Øbama is correct and we are ignorant assholes who shouldn't be trusted - we elected him twice didn't we.

TrickyRicky said...

@Anonymous- Bingo.

While in Greece, thousands rioted against Øbama and had to be beaten back with tear gas by the police.
Meanwhile, in the US, thousands riot against Trump and are largely ignored.
The Trump protesters claim that he will destroy the country, so naturally they are out in force destroying the country.
Irony is alive and well.

I was watching the lame stream news this AM on TV and their latest propaganda narrative is 'how the Trump transition team is in chaos and disarray due to disorganization and infighting', how Trump is appointing a 'White Supremist', Steve Bannon, to be on his team, and how asking for special security clearance for some family members 'raises questions'. Don't these people ever let up? They are so disgusting!

I seriously have to wonder if he's truly delusional and believes the nonsense he's spewing, or if the reality has hit that his legacy isn't going to be care for the sick, jobs to the jobless, oceans receding, planet healing, and wars ending. His legacy is, in fact, Donald Trump. Considering the somewhat muted tone from him over the last week, I think the latter may be settling in.

I have no doubt that there are people who think he did a great job. The suburbs surrounding Washington DC are now almost exclusively the wealthiest counties in the country. Amusingly, PBS soft-sells this as "because it has so many residents with college degrees working at professional jobs." A more honest assessment would be that these are Obama's winners who are well-fed at the government trough who overwhelmingly voted for Hillary to continue their upward trend. Most of those who were not beneficiaries of this level of government largess are those labeled as driven by "anger and fear". And he's right, we're angry that elite class has grown fat and happy at our expense, and we certainly fear where that will ultimately take the country. I think Mark Steyn explained Trump's ascendancy perfectly when he said "If the political culture forbids respectable politicians from raising certain issues, then the electorate will turn to unrespectable ones."

The respectable establishment has been telling us addressing mass immigration from the south and east in any meaningful way is "racist" and "xenophobic". Widespread corruption in Washington is a non-issue. ObamaCare is great. The real problem isn't Islamic terrorism, but is "climate change".

So we're going to see what the unrespectable politician is going to do. The respectable ones had their chance.

And here is good news:
15 NOV 2016
Last Thursday, the DEFCON warning system said that the nuclear threat level was at its lowest, safest level following Donald Trump’s victory of the Presidential election last week. The level was reduced to a 5 from a 3 indicating that the United States likelihood to be involved in a nuclear war is at the lowest possible level."

How fitting that O'Liar should top off his Residency by traveling to a nation in deep, deep debt and laid waste by the same policies he purports. The icing on the cake was when the Greeks took him to visit the Parthenon; a ruin that sets on a hill that is a bleak reminder of how the greatest nations can fall. I'll bet it brought a tear to his eye.

Depends on your definition of "we."

I have listened to several speeches given by Steve Bannon, (on Youtube) and he sounds very intelligent to me. Of course I am not a liberal or a member of the smeardia, so I probably don't count.

Boligat said...

@Colby Isn't the Parthenon famous for its Greek columns? O probably took one look and said, "Meh, been there, done that."

@Mike aka Proof- Or she could have sung Bill's version, "Hell, I'd do her."

@REM1875- It seems like the investigative journalists are suddenly more interested in Trump being secretly served a steak than Hillary maintaining a secret server in her home. I expect to see a LOT of "investigation" going on now that the adversarial relationship between the press and the President-elect is so clearly drawn. But as you say, if they actually find dirt - bring it on!

@Andrew- It's funny that the media is more concerned over Trump having family members screened for top secret clearance than they were about Hillary having her maid print top secret documents without any clearance whatsoever.

@Fred Ciampi- I've actually got a semblance of optimism, and it's been such a long time that I find it a little disconcerting sometimes. Not to scare anyone, but lately I've actually smiled a couple of times for no discernible reason. Weird, huh?

@Anonymous- Bang! Pow! Zoom! Great comment!

@Geoff King- Speaking of irony, the goal of the anti-Trump protesters is to turn our country into Greece.

@Fish Out of Water- How I wish I could know if these kinds of reports are actually true. I'd give one of anything I have two of to see actual hidden video of Hillary blowing her stack and raging during her loss.

@Anonymous- I'm not a religious listener to Rush Limbaugh (though I always find him entertaining), but he gave good advice the other day: just assume that mainstream news coverage of Trump is flat out lying. I don't believe the "chaos and disarray" narrative for a second. I do believe that the process is big, complicated, rushed and messy - as is always the case.

And I don't know much about Steve Bannon (though I wasn't happy with the editorial direction of in recent months), but if he was half the monster the media is making him out to be, he'd be serving a life sentence in jail somewhere. Nope - we're hearing lies, and it's time for us to be good about ignoring them.

@John the Econ- Your statement that Obama's legacy is Donald Trump is an absolutely perfect summation. It was Obama who kindled the frustration and anger in voters that Trump benefited from.

Of course, I also heartily approve of Mark Steyn's summation. Yes, it's time to see what the unrespectable politician can do for the suddenly-noticed deplorables.

@TMay- I hope that lowered DEFCON level becomes an institution. Who knows, foreign powers may not be so eager to play "chicken" with a President who isn't afraid of them.

@Bruce Bleu- I'm thinking that on the day Barry leaves the White House, there should be volunteers present to drop their drawers and give him a "21 bun salute" as a send off. Or better still, 21 hundred moons.

@Colby Muenster- Great point. Why in the hell is Barry telling the Greeks that we're acting goofy when they've destroyed their own economy and caused huge damage to the EU?

@chef621- So you admit that you're a racist and anti-semite?! (Kidding)

@Boligat- Too bad Barry isn't taking his Greek columns with him on his final apology tour. I say that we let him keep them when he leaves office. Hell, I'll even throw in a tube of KY.

Yes, it looks like the adversarial media is sort of coming out of their long, 8-year slumber. But it's still going to be a very selective media, demonstrating that they have not yet fully absorbed the lesson of last week.

For example, look how apoplectic they got over Trump's selection of Stephen Bannon because of his supposed antisemitism that nobody can really seem to nail down in any meaningful way. Meanwhile, the Democrats are cheerfully looking to promote 911 truther and Hamas & Muslim Brotherhood tool Keith Ellison to head the DNC and everyone thinks it's a breakthrough! Can't make this stuff up.

It's really nice that the left has rediscovered antisemitism, especially considering that their most recent Presidential candidate collected most of her campaign cash and personal wealth from people and regimes that openly celebrate killing Jews as part of their religious mission.

This is just an example of what a mistake it is for conservatives to claim a victory, and then go back to sleep like they usually do. The left never does that. They keep going, and conservatives need to too. The classic media double standard remains. I have yet to see anyone outside of the conservative blogosphere question this glaring contradiction. And I don't expect them to.

Speaking of the left never sleeping: You'd think they'd at least wait a couple of months, but they just can't help themselves.

Chelsea Clinton: Why she might run for Congress

"After Hillary Clinton's crushing loss to President-elect Donald Trump, the family could seek to continue its political dynasty by supporting a Chelsea Clinton run for a New York congressional seat."

There's a part of me who'd relish the opportunity to endlessly roast another talentless elitist twit who proudly proclaims that she doesn't care about money when she's got 15-mil sitting in the bank for no obvious reason. But then again, I think that we can all agree that we're all over the Clintons, and now wish they'd all just go away.
