obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, marines, women, lower, standards

In an increasingly dangerous world, it is critically important that the United States Marines remain the roughest, toughest asskickers on Earth. Unfortunately, what's even more important - at least in the eyes of the Obama administration - is to make sure that women can qualify for Marine infantry officer positions.

Currently, there's nothing stopping women from getting those positions except for one niggling detail: they can't do the job. Specifically, out of a group of 29 female Marines who recently went through the Marine Infantry Officer Course, a grand total of none, nada, zip, zilch, zero passed. In fact only four of the women even made it through the first day's combat endurance test - which is pretty discouraging when one considers that some wars take even more than a day to fight.

But as the old saying goes, "When the going gets tough, make it less tough for the girls." Or at least that's the old saying which seems to be guiding Army General Martin Dempsey, the nation's top military officer, who has said that if women can't meet the physical requirements for combat, it's up to the military commanders to either prove those requirements are really and truly necessary or lower the standards.

Put another way, those damn sexist Marines will have to prove that their long-established standards of physical excellence and endurance are actually more than simple misogyny. After all, who's to say that it's better to be able to carry a wounded comrade to safety rather than just having a good cry?

The administration's goal is to eventually have a military which is completely "gender neutral," much like the new bathroom in the White House. Failing that, they'll apparently settle for a military which is gender neutered.

The few. The proud. The confusing.

last things first! those two "babes" look like they could have been Bulgarian gymnasts from the old Soviet Union Olympic Games. they both look like they could lay an ass-whooping on you.
now, about the Marines and their standards ..... when I was in, we wanted some one who could kick ass and take names. and we weren't too picky about the taking names! the Marines have ALWAYS been the "shock troops". we are few in number, but hit with a mighty force. we used to joke ..... "when it absolutely , positively has to be destroyed overnight". basically, what I'm getting at .... the Marines would compromise their capability if they reduced their standards. I know I will catch grief for this, but men and women are built differently. (vive la difference!) from what I have seen, women can tolerate extreme pain for short periods of time. men, however, can tolerate slightly less pain for extended durations. in a combat situation, that difference can prove important.

At the age of 18, I found the regular old Army Basic Infantry training bad enough. By the end of that eight weeks I was glad that I didn’t sign up for any REAL Infantry training such as Advanced Infantry, Airborne, Rangers or the Green Berets. I think some of these blockheads think that wars can be played like golf where the ladies have their tees closer to the green. NOT!!

I have no issue with a female doing the same job as me as long as they cut the same mustard and no one needs to do half of their job for them. Been there, done that. I’ve had very good female co-workers and very inept ones too.

Note: These stories seldom tell us how many of the males failed the course. I’ve heard it runs at about 50%.

If the military were to develop a syncronized menopause platoon that was deployed to front lines at the correct time of the month, those women could probably devastate the enemy forces.

"Everyone gets a trophy" is creeping into our military, thanks to ignorant liberal policies that have little basis in reality.

How long before "men" start demanding that they want to also bear children? There is no doubt in my mind that liberals will push for the medical field to make it happen.

As a Marine Corps Veteran I am appalled at the thought of lowering standards. I agree completely with what George in Houtx said. But, considering what obammy knows and doesn't know, I am not surprised at this action. My only question is now what's fearless leader going to do when say, his grandmother, wants to become a Marine just so she can have bragging rights. Those of us who have earned 'bragging rights' did so with hard work, determination, blood, sweat, and tears. And the purpose for all that was to defend this great country from aggression which o'bozo is doing his very best to tear down. There, now that I have stated my mind, I'll just sit back and wait for the black SUVs to come up my driveway!

If someone can't make the grade, then they shouldn't get the job whatever gender, race, religion, etc. Do we lower the standards for doctors, surgeons, engineers, scientists, etc.? No, and we shouldn't. I'd have included teachers but that is self evident. This is more PC gone amok.

@George in Houtx- Actually, if there were more women like those shown in the lower picture, this wouldn't be a problem. They look like they could do the job, handle (with prejudice) sexual harassment, and (bonus!) be the worst nightmare of the ISIS types.

Whether the administration likes it or not, men and women are different - and some of those differences are likely to make a critical difference on the battlefield. The goal of combat is not to demonstrate your side's social enlightenment - it's to "kill people and break things." Anything less amounts to politicians playing games with other peoples' blood.

@Joseph ET- Good point about how many guys wash out of that training. I want to be very clear that I have all the respect in the world for women in the military, and I have no doubt that all 29 of the women mentioned in the story could kick my ass without spilling their morning coffee.

But as you say, they need to be able to do the same job as a male marine, and not have someone else doing half their job for them. That's not about sexism - that's about survival.

@Geoff King- I think Rush Limbaugh used to joke about having all-female PMS battalions of the type you mention. And again, it would be sweet to sic 'em on ISIS and other woman-haters.

@TrickyRicky- Yeah, but would you tell them that to their faces?

@Anonymous- Did you coin the term "Effeminate Action?" It fits perfectly; lower the standards to achieve social goals, no matter what the damage to the institution.

@BruceHinton- I've had a bottle of eye bleach handy by my computer ever since Hillary officially declared she was in the race.

@Stilt said, "Anything less amounts to politicians playing games with other peoples' blood."

And that has been the issue for the last half century. Not one politician has allowed the United States military to do their job. If there is to be any conflict it should be fought to win, and win decisively. I personally do not believe that is a possibility with female combat troops because as has been stated men and women are built differently. IMO.

Why WOULDN'T they think this is a good idea... the Cumandur in Thief is a EUNUCH! His Wookiee is more of a man than HE is! I can see the commercials now... dykes on bikes with their typical scowl, looking into the camera and screeching, "WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' TESTOSTERONE!!!!"
This type of military "leader" is like a twist on an old saying, "with friends like these, who needs enemas", because they'll get the shit blown out of them!
Seems to ME that the focus here needs to be on the ENEMY. If we can just get them to relax their attack to allow for our weakened military position we'll be fine. When Al Jizzeera reports "Their military fight like girls" and they don't build a "victory mosque" in D.C., maybe everything will work out.
"Fundamentally transform" was lamont's promise. Are there any left that don't understand what that means NOW? Robert Mugabi, Idi Amin, Nelson and Winnebago Mandella, Jean Claude (Baby-doc) & Francois (Papa-doc) Duvalier... can we learn from history what happens when a conniving megalomaniac dick-tater has political power? I don't give a "flying fornicate" if someone is black, half black, or all Wookiee... is they're an incompetant, they are DISQUALIFIED to run MY COUNTRY!

"War on Women". Classic.

I wonder what Lefty Lucy thinks about this.

Affirmative action at it's finest; lower the standards, ultimately to irrelevance. And this policy is a no-brainer for the Obamaites in that it assures that the US will never win another war ever again.

My only problem with this is that our enemies in the Islamofascist parts of the world where these female Marines will most likely be deployed will surely be offended by having to meet non-body-bagged (burka-ed) women on the battlefield. No doubt that will make them more motivated to rectify that situation.

I've always argued that Progressive social experiments should first be conducted on professional sports. If it works well there, only then should such policies be allowed to propagate to other areas of society. Could you imagine this policy working in the NFL?

IMHO, I believe that the experiment of the co-ed military has been a complete disaster. Over 10% of women in the military report having an unplanned pregnancy. Countless scandals and broken families have been the result, even at the highest levels.

Oh, and Happy Earth Day. And what was the existential threat to man (and woman) kind in 1970?

"The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age." — Kenneth Watt

One of the solutions? Spraying soot over the antarctic continent to absorb more solar radiation to forestall the impending ice age.

Too bad they didn't go ahead with that. We probably wouldn't have to be putting up with the warm-monger nonsense now.

I want to know when the government will mandate men being equal with women!? When will men be able to have a fertilized egg transplanted into their wombs? Wait, men don't have wombs? What's up with that? Is that a war on men? Men and women were simply NOT created to be exactly the same! It drives me crazy when women think they can do the same things as men. Granted, there are many things both sexes can do equally well. Being a marine is NOT one of them! As was brought up, not even all men can make the cut to be a marine! So as soon as men can bear children, I'm sure I can get on the band wagon for women being one of the few, the proud, the marines! *sigh* Just had to rant a little...

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@American Cowboy- Exactly. War is not something to be fought half-heartedly; you should be all in or all out.

Oxymoronically, that's how you prevent wars - by making sure your enemies know that if you have to come in, guns a'blazin', that they're going to regret it.

Currently, we've got Navy ships "shadowing" ships which may be delivering arms from Iran - but does anyone think Barry will authorize confrontation? Of course not - which raises the danger immeasurably.

@Bruce Bleu- You're right that there needs to be a new presidential initiative to convince our nation's enemies to "play nice" in combat, and make it easier for our feminized forces to do their jobs. And maybe Barry can pull it off - after all, look at the great negotiating deal he's done with Iran!

@PRY- I think the world needs a B&W nightly news cast with a terse, cigarette-smoking Rod Serling lookalike who starts every broadcast with the words: "Imagine if you will..."

(Seriously - that would be the only news I'd watch)

@John the Econ- Exactly. We're perpetrating a "war on women" because we don't want to send women to war if they can't handle it.

I love the idea of forcing the NFL to include women on the teams, and maybe a few players in wheelchairs. Clearly, the sport could be played by people who are far less "able" than the current players. And wouldn't we all prefer to see the most inclusive teams rather than the best teams?

Regarding Earth Day, I wish the Left could make up their minds what the emergency is - cooling, warming, "changing," or what. Although I'm pretty sure the actual problem is capitalism, since crippling it is the only solution the Left seems to have for this ongoing, if elusive, global catastrophe.

@Shelly- Until we outnumber them at the polls.

@Cookie- I have no doubt that the government will pay to have a man surgically altered so he can carry a child in gestation (if they haven't already). How would that be different from the sex change surgery given to military traitor "Chelsea" Manning?

Like you say, the number of things that men and women can do equally well is huge. But denying there are some differences is just insanity.

John the Econ said...

@Stilton, of course "capitalism" is the real culprit/target. We know this because no matter what else changes, cooling, warming, or plague of frogs, their solution to the problem is always exactly the same: Take total control of the economy and people's lives.

If there's anything to be optimistic about, it's that fewer and fewer people are buying it. The Wall Street Journal points out today that if Florida is in imminent danger of disappearing under the sea, then why are the big money folks scooping up coastal property for their lavish mansions? Even Miami's new science museum is being built on the supposedly soon-to-be-flooded inter-coastal waterway. You'd think that the people behind a "science" museum would be more concerned, if the threat was indeed real.

The other saving grace is the irony impairment of those who scream loudest about "global warming". Today's example comes from the President himself and Bill Nye, the supposed Science Guy, who flew the carbon-spewing Air Force One down to see the Everglades to prattle on about the evils of our carbon ways. I might be able to take Bill Nye a bit more seriously if he had speedwalked to the everglades instead of flying there in the worlds most expensive personal jet.

As I've pointed out with increasing frequency, spewing anti-carbon rhetoric while living a conspicuous 1%-er lifestyle may give rich Progressives moral superiority cred in the rarefied elite atmosphere of rich Progressive circles. But it just looks like rank hypocrisy to the rest of us.

Speaking of the "War on Women": Again, I really have to wonder why leftists keep doing this. If the "war on women" is 1/10th as prevalent as these people scream it is, then why do they keep having to make stuff up? This week's example comes courtesy of comedienne Sarah Silverman, where in a video about "the wage gap" presented a tale of woe where she got paid $10 for a gig when the guy who performed before her got paid $60. Problem was, the guy who got paid $60 was actually booked for the performance while she just showed up and asked if she could try out some new material, which I'm sure wasn't funny. The club owner gave her $10 for cab fare, which he didn't even need to do. Shows him what happens when a capitalist tries to be nice to a Progressive!

Never mind. I'm sure that in Sarah's mind, what is important is that this could have happened, even if it didn't her her. And that's what counts in the Progressive universe.

It is repugnant but hardly surprising.

Does anyone else remember Kara Hultgren, whom the Clinton Administration ordered the Navy to give a free pass through flight school, who wadded up an F14 on the flight deck of the Abraham Lincoln the first time she tried a night landing, killing herself, her RIO, several swabbies who happened to be on the deck, wrecking a fifty million dollar aircraft and putting the Lincoln in drydock for eight months for repairs?

Just a couple of days ago there was someone on one of the morning talk shows shilling a book about the "heroic" Girl Ranger who just got killed in Afghanistan. They had a bunch of Girl Rangers on the show, tittering about how "athletic" and "fierce" Girl Ranges are, and solemnly informing the audience, with straight faces one and all, that they had to carry forty-pound packs in training. "Ferty pounds, er mah gerrrrrrrrrrrrd!"

Anybody here who's ever been an 11B or an 0311, please raise your hands if you'd have really loved to have to carry only a forty pound pack. Yes, this is what I expected.

So, we have ROTC programs forcing male cadets to crossdress in public:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/apr/21/army-rotc-program-allegedly-pushed-men-wear-high-h/

We have combat arms units spending more time in "gender harassment sensitivity training" than training to break stuff and kill people.

This is why Al-Qaeda, ISIS, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China are all laughing at us. They're not afraid of us any more, and this is why.

No doubt next we'll have gender-integrated combat arms units with mandatory 50% females, no matter how far they have to cut back standards and how much below TO&E strength that'll make the units at the sharp end. Perhaps they'll mandate 50% of promotions be for the girls, too. This military won't be able to defend the country, or win wars, of course, but we all know that to the Left, that's not really what the military is for.

Does anyone know how to get back to America from here? I was born in America, and now I'm in this strange, barbaric, backward country that I don't recognize. I don't remember following a rabbit but I think I'm on the wrong side of the looking glass.

@Anonymous just to clarify some of your points. Watch the video of the crash, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q_anBB3M0A. The RIO ejected safely, she ejected downward into the sea and was killed instantly, and the plane crashed into the sea, not on the deck.

John the Econ said...

Yes, I vividly recall that incident. At the time, I held Democrat Representative Patricia Schroeder personally responsible for her death. Schroeder, as a representative on the House Armed Services Committee wanted to score some cheap feminist cred points and personally insisted that Navy Lieutenant Kara Hultgreen be carrier qualified even though her superiors knew she was not capable. The results can seen in the video above; just more collateral damage in the Progressive program of social engineering.

Once again, we saw "Affirmative Action" at its finest.

Stilton,
Talking about lamont "pulling it off".
One thing (irony intended) that could add circumstantial evidence to lamont's birthplace is if he is "circumspected". Nearly every American boy baby is, and other countries don't spend the money to do that, as a rule. I take great pride in my personal contribution to numerous "burn units" in New York that had resources (after my procedure) to give numerous victims the grafts necessary to lead better lives than otherwise would have been possible. I'm sure some fruit fly (there's that irony thing again) could benefit from lamont getting one today, but I doubt he's an "organ donor", (hopefully the Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope will be available).
