@Readers- I won't lie to you. There's really nothing here you need to see or read today. There was nothing wildly compelling in the news, I'm still missing my dog terribly, and I was distracted all day Sunday by the bad weather sweeping across the Midwest.

You see, Mrs. Jarlsberg and I used to live in a trailer in Indiana, and one dark and stormy night we had to say goodbye to each other over the sounds of roaring wind and thunder while hiding UNDER the trailer with the dirt, spiders, and our terrified cat in a box.

Fortunately, the funnel missed us by a couple of miles - but when the tornado warnings go off in Indiana (where I still have friends and family) I just can't focus on much else. Here's hoping that by the time you read this, the danger will have passed.

But since you've taken the trouble to show up and read this far, I'm at least sharing this YouTube video which may not be the most inspiring version of "Stout-Hearted Men" I've ever heard, but is certainly the most hilarious (even though the scat-singing "artist" was entirely sincere when he made this recording).  Caution: it is an earworm and it will live in your noggin forever.

Sing along, everybody!

I've got family in Terre Haute. They experienced some wind damage, but thankfully nothing as serious as other areas. Hope your loved ones were as fortunate.

As for today's HnC, just think of it as "posting discretion," similar in concept to obama's "enforcement discretion" approach to our nation's laws...

@BarbaCat- I'm thankful there weren't more injuries and fatalities.

@CenTexTim- My friends and family are fine, I'm glad to say.

And lately, I am allowing myself "posting discretion" out of sheer necessity. But unlike the prezzie, I'm not breaking any laws to do so.

This video reminds me of the section of "Elephant Parts" that lampoons syllabic jibberish. I surmise this is the sound that lamont has echoing in his empty head 24/7.

Glad to hear all your friends and family are OK.
BTW, I listened to the whole song. Is there an antidote?

Stilton glad everyone you know back there in Indiana is okay. I have lived in Tornado Alley my whole life. Seen a few tornadoes at a distance, worked a few afterwards but never up close and personal. I hope to never have that experience. I don't post often but stop often, hope you and the Mrs. are doing fine

In a way, I thank God for this unconstitutional o-care, in that it served as nothing else has for the past 5 or 6 years to wake so many people up to the tragic truth of the present administration. At least THAT is something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season!

Down with government tyranny!

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Bruce Bleu- Actually, I believe that the lyrics in the video were taken directly from page 1,793 of the 2,000 page Obamacare bill.

@HugeEffingStringOfNumbers- The only antidote to the song is to pass it along to others. You'll still be afflicted, but misery loves company.

@Pete(Detroit)- I love the Nipple Song! It's!

Regarding your second song pick, it's pretty awesome alright - and very "Bollywood" in the sense that the darn thing never ends (a seven minute condom song?!) The slide whistle was a nice touch.

@Madjack- When I moved from Indiana to Texas, I didn't manage to get away from tornadoes - I just managed to get away from basements (in the area I live, the clay soil doesn't allow them). I'm in awe of tornadoes and watch all the stormchaser-type shows. And by "awe," of course, I mean terror.

@Philip- The jobs numbers were double faked: the Obama administration simply stopped counting as "unemployed" the people who gave up hope and stopped looking for a job. But even then, they had to cheat the remaining numbers to get Barry below that all-important 8% unemployment figure. Damned lies, all.

Regarding the woman who Barry proclaimed to be an Obamacare success, I feel sorry for her. Her hopes were raised by Barry's lies, and those false hopes were (briefly) realized by an online system which was quoting erroneous figures. For anyone who doesn't watch the link, the bottom line is that an uninsured woman will STILL be uninsured because she can't afford Obamacare - but now she also has to pay a fine.

@PRY- I hope this debacle is waking up some people, but I don't know. I think it was Mark Twain who said that "it is easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled." I still see a lot of people holding onto the myth that this is all just poor implementation of a great plan, or that the problems are due to Republican Obstructionism (not that the GOP managed to obstruct an iota of Obamacare).

What in the F*CK has this country become? Phillip is right about the 2012 jobs reports being faked. king hussein refuses to go to the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysberg for Chrissake! And on Weasel Zippers they have an article about Ken Burns had a bunch of politicos and some big wigs giving the Gettysberg address and guess which certain all-powerful potentates version left out the words "under God"? You know it...king hussein, of course.

All the other scandals way too numeropus to mention here. And I just heard sarah silverman is auctioning off a napkin she wiped on her vajayjay to raise money for more abortions in TX!

They say that politics is downstream of culture....can you imagine what must be instore for us if that is true? What personal grooming items will nazi pelosi and harry greed be willing to auction off? Makes me want to puke.

Colby said...

Thanks, buddy! I was trying to eat lunch when I read that!

I heard that Nan was going to auction off her douche-bag, but then Barry told her he didn't WANT to be auctioned off.

WMD said...

Sorry Colby,

I read and see stuff like that and I just get really aggravated. My use of occasional profanity not with standing, I wonder how we can come back as a country when the standards of morality and decency are so obviously low and getting lower. Which only reminds of something I forgot to bring up in my last post-Martin Basher. What he said about Sarah Palin, absolutely despicable. He can go back to jolly old England and he can take purse morgan with him.

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@WMD- When you mention politics being downstream of culture, you made me think of a novel I highly recommend about that very topic, in which a headless man moves from the world of entertainment to politics while being cheered by idiot followers and being handled by self-serving handlers. Sound like anyone we know?

@Colby- Auctioning off body fluids strikes me as a bad idea, although Bill Clinton could probably become a money pump (so to speak) for Hillary's presidential campaign...

@WMD- I can't understand how MSNBC "news" anchor Martin Bashir still has a job after calling for someone to shit in Palin's mouth and piss in her eyes.

I'm not a religious man, but I'd be mighty happy to see some of these jerks turned into pillars of salt before our eyes.

The song works well when someone's air singing the whole thing: as here.

@Chap- I've got to admit, the young lady has talent and will go far. Specifically, she'll be asked to go far every time she does that song.
