Mayor Catastrophe

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has already declared opposition to the Ground Zero mosque to be "un-American," continues to make dumbfounding statements about the controversy.

In his latest jaw-dropper, he declared that 100% of the 9/11 families want the Ground Zero mosque to be built, and that "the lives of our loved ones were taken because the right to build a mosque was so threatening to people."

Come again? The 9/11 hijackers were so threatened by the right to build mosques in America that they murdered over 3000 people? The attacks were made to prevent the spread of Islam, and to keep mosques from being built?

Hope n' Change would like to suggest that Mayor Bloomberg do a bit of research to remind himself what really happened on that tragic September 11th, 2001.

It shouldn't be hard. It was in all the papers.

Mayor Bloomberg declares 9/11 hijackers were Islamophobes.

I guess the found one or two that were safe to talk to. That's right up there with "How could McGovern lose ? Everyone I know voted for him."

Either this man is completely insane or just an evil simpleton seeking to further his fortune, or both !

In any case, he needs to be removed from office Pronto!

C'mon! Bloomberg, author of the "Million Mayors' March" for the elimination of all firearms, firearm manufacturers, ammunition, ammunition manufacturers and anyone - besides themselves - who dare defend themselves (notably of whose number included the fine, upstanding indicted and convicted Kwame Kilpatrick) do or say something questionable?

Alright, so he never really achieved a million mayors. So what if he's about as conservative as government cheese. He's a gazillionaire, so what he says must be true! C'mon.

Frankly, this is what is to be expected of those who literally buy their way into office. They own it: bought and paid for. They can do whatever they wish, no matter how insane they appear to the rest for the world. Just happy I don't live in New York City, nor have any reason to go there.

I'm with you, Emmentaler. I've never been to New York, so I couldn't have left anything there that I need to go back and look for. Bloomberg is a turd cake fried in bile, but he's New York's problem and they can keep him.

We also have to remember New York voted Hillary in. She moved there just so she could be elected and the people of New York did not see through that. I am like Angry and Emmentaler I have never been to NY and don't plan on going to ever leave anything there. I did not lose any loved ones there, but we lost Americans and as Americans we should be mad as hell over losing them and more so right here in our country. It is un-American to want the mosgue built there.

Here is what Charlie Daniels says about Obama:

The title is "Jammin". I do believe he has obama figured out and I agree with him.

I'm from near Noblesville, Indiana and I agree.

Did this idiot get beamed down from Mars or something?! Did he attend Joe Biden's "How to Talk like a Complete Moron" seminar?

And.... how could a city that elected Rudy Gulianni turn around and elect Gumby?

I'm with all you guys. Never been to New York City other than stopping at JFK to catch another flight. I will never forget how beautiful the night time skyline was when I flew in, and now it is changed forever.

All in favor of deporting Bloomberg back to Mars, say "AYE."

The flakes in NYC who voted for Bloomberg in the first place and then let him eliminate his term limit deserve what they get. I feel sorry for those who didn't vote for the nutcase. They don't deserve what they've gotten.

That is how the Dims handled the issue of the KKK. We really should not be surprised.

I think all our elected officials have gone stupid...or were they like this all along?

Great oped by Mark Helprin in the WSJ who argues that a reasonable interpretation of our Constitution means, "that no American can be forced to bid on a contract, to run conduit, dig a foundation, or join steel...that the firemen's, police, and restaurant workers' unions among others and the families of the September 11th dead, and any one who would protect, sympathize with and honor them, are free to assemble, protest and picket at the site of the mosque that under the Constitution is free to be built...that no American can be forced to cross a picket line in violation of conscience or even of mere preference. Who, in all decency, would cross a picket line manned by those whose kin were slaughtered - by the thousands - so terribly nearby? And who in all decency would cross such a line manned by the firemen, police and other emergency personnel who know every day that they may be called upon to give their lives in a second act?" And in summation,"...That is because the street in front of the mosque that the Constitution says can be built can be filled with people who can effectively protest it because the Constitution says that they are free. Those who do not fear to do so need only go there and stand upon their convictions, their beliefs, their reason, their laws, their history, and what is in their hearts."

maybe Bloomberg read a "slightly" different poll. y'see .... it IS true that 100% of those in favor of building the mosque want it built. using this kind of twist to the logic, it "could" be understandable that he sees things the way he does. that .... or he is truly an idiot!

Anonymous (two above)- Helperin has nailed this. One can argue the rights back and forth, but the word which caught my eye is "decency."

No one is saying that the Muslims who wish to build the Ground Zero mosque are culpable in the terrible events of that day. But undeniably, the attack was carried out in the name of Islam...and so a mosque that is specifically being built near Ground Zero to summon memories of that day is unavoidably a painful reminder, and a dagger in the heart of Americans.

"Decency" suggests that no one inflict that sort of pain on another. But this is a "decency" that neither the president nor the Ground Zero imam has any interest in.
