Perry And Thrust

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, superbowl, katy perry, roar, bow

Don't even try to look for subtle meaning in today's cartoon; when Hope n' Change saw Katy Perry's Superbowl halftime show, it struck us as a preposterously-expensive exercise in bizarre, meaningless imagery which nobody over 30 (or not on drugs) could relate to. In other words, it pretty much seemed exactly like the past six years of the Obama administration. Especially following the release of the president's preposterous new "budget" which features $2 trillion in new tax hikes on the "evil rich."

Which, now that we think of it, would include pretty much every player and musical performer at the Superbowl. It's about time those overpaid, rabble-hating, right-wing scoundrels started paying their fair share - right?!

In fairness, our young liberal correspondent loved the halftime show ("Beachballs with happy faces!" she marveled, mouth agog. "They're like people of every color getting along with everybody else!") and she disagrees that Obama's policies make no sense...

I like your take on Obama the Lyin' King. Everyone knows you can't spell "Super Bowl" without "bow".

To quote the famous conga drum player... "Lucy, iyng hong"!

Oh good, I was hoping is wasn't just me!

Perry's Halftime show imagery did make sense if you are Satanic or Illuminati minded:

As for Ødickhead's Iranian policy, naturally he gives preference to a radical Islamic government over us or our best allies in the region. To do otherwise would be against his destruction of the free world agenda.

Oh Lucy, you always make me smile...

...and then cry.

I'm just glad that Dear Leader has a plan to end our "mindless austerity". I was so, so worried that our record federal tax revenues wouldn't be enough to sustain the massive, souless, grinding, cancerous, bureaucracy in Washington that we all absolutely need to help us have meaning in our lives.

@Proof- Everyone knows it, but I wish I had thought to say it (grin).

@Bruce Bleu- I had to say that out loud to get it, but it's funny! Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!

@Bonnie Houghton- I saw a surprising number of very positive reviews for the halftime show, all of which baffled me. I didn't know the songs (barely recognized that they were songs), didn't know the performers, and just felt like the whole thing was a gigantic waste of time and money.

@Geoff King- I'm not too worried about the Satanist/Illuminati connection. When the beachball people come to get me, I've got a chainsaw on a 10-foot pole. It's not going to be pretty.

@John the Econ- Lucy is tonally closer to "Johnny Optimism" than "Hope n' Change" in my opinion. It highlights a cognitive disorder rather than physical ones, and the comedy is bittersweet.

I didn't link to it, but there are fresh reports that Obama is negotiating new backroom deals with Iran to let them have more centrifuges (and keep 'em spinning) in return for their help "calming" things in the Middle East. Because that will work out great.

@TrickyRicky- And that's why we call you Mr. Glass Half Full.

We've been gone for a while & out of touch which was the point of being gone. I'm still chuckling over President Fudd. And can't get "Oh! Those Waskel Wadicals! out of my head. Thanks a lot Stilt.

Personally, I enjoyed the dancing sharks, especially the left one.

@Stilton, when you distill Obama policy down to the core, the only conclusions one can come to is that either he actually wants everyone on the planet who shouldn't be armed, armed while America is disarmed, or he's just on a mission to talk about rainbow-farting unicorns while kicking every problem down the road for the next President to deal with. After all, in terms of foreign policy, it worked for Clinton when Bush 43 inherited the Islam problem and 9/11.

The same could be said of Obama's fantasy budget. He'll be long gone when the real consequences of the last 6 years and ObamaCare really take hold. And somehow I doubt the left will be satisfied with the "We inherited this mess" meme from the GOP, which will be forced into the role of the adults cleaning up after the children and taking the hard role of imposing some discipline.

Speaking of, have you been watching the children on revolt in Greece & Spain? The adults in Germany are not amused. Personally, I'm hoping the EU tosses Greece out of the Euro. It would make a nice Greek vacation very affordable. Remember, borrowers are always slaves to the lender.

But back to Obama's budget, which I've yet to fully assimilate. Budgets are actually written statements of priorities. And this is the reason that no Obama budget (or Democrat one, for that matter) has made it through Congress in the last 8 years, because House members who vote on these need to answer for it every two years. Obama's priorities are so divorced to the majority of Americans that absolutely nobody with any accountability will touch them.

Speaking of accountability, or the lack of it: Remember how all of the pro-amnesty people argued that "amnesty" doesn't mean that illegals will be entitled to welfare? Well then, how do they explain this?

IRS offers extra tax refunds to illegal immigrants granted amnesty by Obama

"Illegal immigrants who are granted the amnesty will be given official Social Security numbers, which means they can go back and amend up to three years of previous tax forms to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, potentially claiming billions of dollars in additional payments they were ineligible for before the amnesty."

You mean I was lied to again?

Lefty Lucy is so funny but so pathetically real it's scary. The people who go out and do fake interviews with college students and even adults prove that Lucy isn't far off the mark.

Oh, Mr. Econ, your use of the words "Obama" and "long gone" together made my heart soar. Just looking at him and hearing him talk (both of which are ubiquitous) stirs a visceral reaction in me now. As to Katy Perry, what do you do when you can't really sing? Lip synch a highly manipulated recording of yourself, change your clothes 3 or 4 times and use fireworks and histrionics. Sucks for me!

I know I sound like my parents, but the halftime show was not music. Not sure what it was, but it sucked. When I heard that Lenny Kravitz was going to take part, it gave me hope (he is what I consider to be a real musician; you know, not tits and ass with a microphone), but his small part even sucked. He was playing a guitar, but you couldn't hear it.

Yup, the halftime non-show was a good parallel to O'Liar's six year reign of bullshit, mistakes, vacations, and beer parties.

@John the Econ,
Will Greece be the first domino? I'll bet that's what the Germans are thinking.

Hey, has anybody heard O'Liar's gritty, Teddy Roosevelt-like response to the Jordanian pilot's horrible death? Yeah, me neither.

So the FCC wants to regulate Internet Service Providers like they do land-line telephone companies under an 80-year-old paradigm.

Just before I dropped my last land-line with AT&T years ago, it did not escape my notice that 1/3rd of the bill was Federally-imposed fees and taxes. Will your cable or DSL bill escape that fate once they become regulated as Federally-overseen "utilities"? I'm giving long odds on that if anyone is willing to bet me.

But not to worry. They say they're going to do "Light touch regulation", because if this administration "with a phone and a pen" is known for anything, (outside of foreign policy anyway) it's their "light touch". I feel better already.

@Rod- Good to have you back and glad you enjoyed the Pwesident Fudd joke.

@John the Econ- I think B. Hussein wants the first option you mention: America disarmed, assholes armed. It will help with The Great Equalization of Nations that he wants so badly.

Re: the IRS, I felt a little more of my life-force trickling out of my body while reading that illegals would be collecting Earned Income Credit refunds retroactively, and that the IRS tends to hand out childcare credits whether deserved or not "just to be on the safe side." It's all 24/7 redistribution of wealth.

@Judi King- Lefty Lucy is pretty easy to write for because I hear so many people (online and in meat space) who sound exactly like her. Blissful ignoramuses all.

@Shelly- As much as I look forward to Obama being long gone, his team just released his new "post-presidential" slogan: "Eight years was just the beginning."

That's right, Barry intends to hang around like a recurrent case of herpes.

@Colby Muenster- I swear I tried to make out anything like melody or harmony in the freaking halftime show, but all I heard was beats and too many layers of processed sound.

The ONLY good thing I can say about the performance was that it wasn't as sexualized as some other recent halftime shows.

Regarding Obama's response to the horrendous immolation of the Jordanian pilot, I haven't heard anything compelling yet. Oh, he said we'd redouble our "vigilance" and "fortitude" or some such BS, but he didn't say anything meaningful.

@John the Econ- A "light touch" of Obama-style regulation is like getting a "slight case" of Ebola.

Stilt, Just got through proofreading someone else's gnusletter and came back here to revisit your wit. I realize I'm not the "sharpest knife in the drawer", but wasn't the last Superbowl # forty NINE?

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Bruce Bleu- Indeed, the last Superbowl was 49. But in the cartoon, I refer to Superfail 44. Obama is the 44th president. See what I did there?

I love this site and have passed it on to my friends. It is one of the highlights of my Monday. Lefty Lucy is a great funny addition--so appropriate. Although some of these cartoons would be considered "over the top" I have yet to find anything that has offended me. Thank you for throwing political correctness out the window. We all need to. GG

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@Anonymous- Glad you enjoy the site, and thank you for spreading the word!

I'm glad I haven't offended you yet, and will apologize in advance for such time in the future that I probably (but unintentionally) will.

My goal is not to be tasteless or shock; I think that's cheap and pointless. But that being said, sometimes - especially when a subject really makes me angry - I will throw political correctness to the wind and post some very strong stuff. But again, I still try to do that with a sense of responsibility and (if you can believe it) editorial and artistic justification.

I hope readers will judge me by the balance of my work over time.
